MAKE WAY FOR HYPERCARS: Visitors examine a luxury car at the Millionaire Fair in Moscow. Dubai plans to launch ultra-high end cars in India by the end of the year

Ultra-high-end exotic cars which are designed to provide a clean, safe and highly efficient performance are set to storm Indian roads by the end of this year.

Dubai-based Ultimate Motors, one of the leading distributors of exotic and luxury sports cars in the world,

will launch three brands of Super Hyper Cars by December.

US-based Shelby SuperCars’ Ultimate Aero holds the record for the world’s fastest car with a speed of 413 kilometres per hour (257 mph) and belts out a whopping 1,183 horsepower. Those numbers make it the world’s most powerful production car. This machine can go from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 2.78 seconds.

And in the race are Denmark’s Zenvo and UK-based Arash are also in the race to introduce their SHCs into the Indian market. Arash boasts unique road car aerodynamics while the Zenvo comes with full carbon body and steel chassis.

All the three SHCs are priced between Rs 2.4 to 5.4-crore.

“The demand for luxury cars in India is increasing and people are now keen on customised cars. We are in touch with four leading dealers in India and expect to launch commercial SHCs by the end of this year,” Ultimate Motors’ President Nasser Al-Hai said.

SHCs are exotic cars, whose performance is superior to that of its contemporaries and have been defined specifically as “very expensive, fast or powerful cars with a centrally located engine.”

Initially, Ultimate Motors expects to sell three units of Shelby, two units of Zenvo and four cars of Arash by next year.

This time it’s called the Arash AF-10.

The specs sound alright to me. The body and chassis are made of carbon fibre. It’s got the 7L V8 engine out of the Corvette Z06, putting out 550hp and 630Nm of torque. That engine is hooked up to a proper 6-speed manual transmission. It’s also got an active-valve exhaust system, to make it roar when you want it and keep it quiet when you need it.

This car will be followed by an AF-10S, which will be supercharged and intercooled to bump the power output up to 800hp and 750Nm of torque. They are also promising a 1000hp version, and if Keating’s TKR is anything to go by, that’s definitely a possibility (Which makes me wonder, where the hell did our Keating TKR article go?).

If that sounds like too much for you, or if the 320,000 pound (About $535,000) price tag is too big, then they’re also planning a little brother called the AF-8. No details have been released about that though, but if anything appears, I’ll be sure it gets posted here.

Only thing that bothers me about this car is the way it looks. If you ask me, it’s hideous.

Hello, fellow internet surfers. You must be doing some intense surfing if you dug up my site! LOL! I haven’t written in a while, due to being busy with school work. I am in eighth grade so I am currently in the process of choosing my high school and taking the COOP test (a Catholic high school entrance test). Yet I have finally found time to procrastinate from my work and enjoy time on my blog. It is the small pleasures of life that make me happy.

So don’t worry, I am not dead or anything. But you never know… this could be my ghost writing right now… or my alter ego, Arash… Yes there is a possibility that he could be real.

Lemme tell you, school is difficult. I am worried about keeping my grades up, because I am the secretary of the honors society and I do not want to lose that because of MATH! GRRR…. rawr! So if I don’t write for a while, you will know why. You’re welcome.

De flesta journalister har insett för länge sedan att den enda fungerande metoden för att  konsekvent och rättssäkert använda ordet svensk om människor är att koppla ordet till medborgarskapet.

Man skriver exempelvis kort och gott “de strandsatta svenskarna” i var det nu må vara, Thailand eller Libanon.

Medier och mångfald har nu märkt att det skett en glidning. Det är bara de som gör bra saker som av vissa kallas för svenskar. Övriga får nedgraderas till “svenska medborgare”, ungefär som om det var lite mindre fint, som man inte är någon svensk på riktigt. Etniska svenskar är däremot aldrig “svenska medborgare” oavsett vad de hittar på, utan bara rätt och slätt svenskar.

Några exempel:

När Mehdi Ghezali greps första gången på  gränsen mellan Afghanistan och Pakistan satt han i förvar ett tag innan han skickades till Guantanamo. Den svenska diplomatiska beskickningen kritiserades för att inte försöka skapa kontakt i tid och för att denna i en rapport till UD beskrev Mehdi Ghezali som “arab med svenskt pass”.

Ghezali är född på ett svenskt sjukhus, han gick i svensk skola och han är svensk medborgare.

Låt oss nu hoppa till förra helgens papperstidning (sön 11 okt). Ingressen lyder såhär:

“De svenska medborgarna Mehdi Ghezali, Munir Awad och Safia Benaouda och deras tvåårige pojke anlände till Sverige sent på söndagskvällen”.

På webben är detta annorlunda. Där heter det att

“Svenskarna som suttit fängslade i Pakistan landade vid 22-tiden på lördagskvällen Arlanda utanför Stockholm”.

DN:s papperstidning hade en sidotext också; “Terrormisstankar räcker för övervakning“. Där skriver inte reportern om “en arab med svenskt pass” men väl “en marockan med svenskt medborgarskap”.

Även Oussama Kassir nämns i den artikeln, ni vet killen som i våras dömdes för att ha planerat ett terrorläger i Oregon som skulle finansieras med bytet från rånade 7 eleven-butiker. Det blev inte så mycket av de planerna och han återvände hem till Sverige, bara för att flygas tillbaka till USA med våld några år senare efter att ha mellanlandat i Prag.

Nåväl. Poängen är att Kassir inte heller blir svensk i DN:s artikel. Han blir inte ens bara svensk medborgare, utan “svensk medborgare med libanesiskt ursprung”. Vad ursprunget har med saken att göra är högst oklart. Kassir konverterade i Sverige och DN bryter därmed mot den pressetiska regeln som säger att etnisk tillhörighet inte ska framhävas om det inte är relevant.

Kassir har varit svensk i många år och tillbringat fler år i Sverige än en person som i DN, bland annat denna artikel,  får äran att bara vara kallas svensk utan suffixet “medborgare” – Annika Östberg. Hon har dömts för ett grövre brott (eller snarare flera, hon är medskyldig till att ha haft ihjäl flera människor utöver knarkbrott, prostitution och annat).

Oussama Kassir talar antagligen bättre svenska än Annika Östberg som var liten när hon flyttade från Sverige och sedan rymde hemifrån. Han har svenska barn. Han har jobbat och betalat skatt här vilket hon aldrig har. Hon är svensk, han medborgare.

Den bästa strategin för Kassir hade antagligen varit att satsa på löpning (Ludmila fram till dopingen), fotboll (Zlatan “Zlatan” Ibrahimovic,  Henrik “Henke” Larsson), sång (Darin, Arash och Elena Paparizou) – eller skrivande.  Journalisten Dawit Isaak sitter visserligen i fängelse som Kassir och Östberg men han har svenskarnas sympatier, är “snäll” och därför också bara svensk, vilken man till exempel kan läsa här, här, här eller här.

Tror ni att det här är slump? Fundera på det nästa gång en icke etnisk svensk är på nyheterna. Har personen gjort något bra = svensk. Har den gjort något dåligt = svensk medborgare. Uppenbarligen är svenskheten villkorad i svenska medier…

PS. Till alla rasister som har det här som sin favoritfråga säger vi redan på förhand: denna blogg diskuterar och analyserar hur medier bevakar mångfald. Vi diskuterar inte mångfalden i sig annat än ytterst begränsat, om det exempelvis gäller ny forskning. Därför kommer vi inte att släppa fram kommentarer som vill diskutera eller argumentera för vad som konstruerar “en riktig svensk”. Ni hamnar bara i tycke-och-smak-träsket i alla fall och börjar istället lista vad som INTE är svenskt.

Till och med Jimmie Åkesson har sagt att han måste känna en person först innan han kan avgöra om den är svensk. Att som reporter ha kamratskap som kriterium för vad man ska kalla folk man skriver om blir ohållbart rätt snabbt i en stressig arbetsmiljö.

Tänk bara om Sveriges journalistkår varit tvungna att resa till Pakistan för att först försöka ta en öl med Mehdi Ghezali för att avgöra om han är svensk egentligen innan de skriver om honom…

Uppdatering (4 nov):  Annika Östberg fortsätter att vara svenskare än midvinterblot. Idag i bland annat DN och SvD, apropå att hennes frigivning tros dröja.

Arash Labaf was born in Tehran, Iran. At the age of 10, he and his family moved to Sweden, where he lives now.one of the His great grandfather’s was an Iranian Azeri. In an interview with BBC Persian Television, he has mentioned that his mother and father are from the Iranian cities of Shiraz and Isfahan, respectively.
When he was 10 years old, his family moved to Uppsala, Sweden before moving to Malmö five years later. The city Arash considers as his hometown is Malmö where he lives when he is not on tour. He has two younger brothers, Ashkan Labaf, a doctor and Arsalan Labaf, a lawyer.

Two weeks ago, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty reported on poor Rovshan Nasirli’s run in with the Azerbaijani National Security Ministry.  Nasirli’s crime: voting for Armenia in the 2009 Eurovision song contest.  He simply liked Armenia’s Inga and Anoush better than the Azeri entry, which featured local unknown AySel and euro-pop star Arash.  As RFE/RL reports, Nasirli was grilled by the Security Ministry about the motivation for his choice.  Before we continue, please decide YOUR vote:

The RFE/RL article does a good job putting Nasirli’s uncomfortable visit to the Ministry into context, summing up Aliyev Jr.’s gradual crack down on civil liberties and explaining the antagonism between Armenia and Azerbaijan over NK.

Maybe I am late to the game, but the thing that popped out at me was Azerbaijan’s pick of Arash to begin with.  I used to love remix of back in 2006, and know the man was born in Iran and famous in Sweden.  But the plot thickens: Arash’s grandfather is from the Iranian Azerbaijan.  While Arash was clearly brought in (at what cost, I would like to know) to lend star power to the Azeri entry, I cannot help but question what role his Persian Azeri heritage played in Azerbaijan’s selection.

Azerbaijan, the country, and Azerbaijan, the region of Iran, have been separated for nearly two centuries as Russia and Persia divvied up the region.  Nevertheless, some Azeri’s make irredentist claims on Persian Azerbaijan.  According to Merriam Webster, irredentism is “a political principle or policy directed toward the incorporation of [territories] within the boundaries of their historically or ethnically related political units.”  Basically – you lay claim to land in someone else’s country because you have a good reason to do so.  It always struck me how Azerbaijan and Armenia have this whole irredentist thing in common – Azerbaijan fiends for Iran’s Azerbaijan and Armenia for Karabagh.  Regardless of how realistic their respective irredentist dreams may be, at least some politicians and countrymen from both states are after territory in another country, and that makes them similar.

I do not know if Arash identities himself as Azeri, or Persian Azeri, but his presence in the song contest feels like a little shot of irredentism.  I know it is a bit of a stretch – but one too tempting to ignore.  Azerbaijan’s Eurovision selection committee must have made this connection.  (If so, I am also intrigued by their reigning in of diasporan talent.  Does this mean that Armenia will be entering Cher for Eurovision 2010?)  However, if Azerbaijan was attempting to use Arash to foment irridentism, then their plan appears to have backfired.  When the National Security Ministry asked Nasirli about his choice, the Baku resident replied, “I voted for Armenia to protest the fact that Arash was representing Azerbaijan.  Also, the Armenian song was closer to Azerbaijani style than Arash’s song.” For Nasirli, Arash is just not Azeri and, if we can trust Nasirli’s knowledge of music, Armenians and Azeris have more in common than their territorial ambitions.

UPDATE

RFE/RL reported last week that Eurovision is investigating reports of Azerbaijani citizens being questioned over their vote in the 2009 song contest.  This past Wednesday the plot thinkened even more when an Azeri government minister accused RFE/RL of political bias in favor of Armenia.  RFE/RL’s Azerbaijan bureau cheif was also accused of voting for Armenia.

Spotify-debatten går vidare. En kort sammanfattning av vad som skett hittills.

Magnus Uggla skriver ett inlägg på sin blogg där han beklagar sig över den låga ersättningen från Spotify.

Det visar sig att Sony, skivbolaget som Uggla ligger på, köpt Spotify-aktier till vrakpris i utbyte mot sin artistkatalog. De 30 000 kr som investerades sägs ha stigit till 116 miljoner kr.  Universal, Warner och EMI har även de aktieandelar i Spotify.

Uggla skriver att han känner sig blåst av sitt skivbolag, vars deal ger artisten cirka 0,0001kr/minut.”Jag blir hellre våldtagen av Pirate Bay än rövknullad av Hasse Breitholtz och Sony Music och kommer därför att lyfta alla mina låtar från Spotify i väntan på en hederlig nättjänst.” Detta skriver Uggla med anledning av att Sonys medverkan i Pirate Bay-debatten. Där sade sig skivbolaget vilja skydda sina artisters ekonomiska intressen, något som de nu inte längre verkar vilja stå bakom.

Det senaste dygnet har forum, kommentatorsfält och debattartiklar haglat. Är Magnus Uggla dumsnål? Är skivbolagen lika giriga som alltid? Är Spotify verkligen ett hållbart alternativ i längden? Det är några frågor som diskuterats.

Idag uttalar sig Petter i frågan.

Skivbolaget Racing Junior fick 19 kronor när en av deras låtar hade spelats 55 100 gånger, skriver norska Dagbladet. Det blir ca 0,0003 kronor per lyssning.

– Jag tror att det rör sig om noll komma noll, noll, noll, noll, noll, eller väldigt lite i alla fall, säger Petter.

Uggla blir även sågad av Ulf Ekberg, Arash och Alexander Bard (vilket gäng!) men även dessa missar hela poängen. Magnus Uggla uttalade sig inte negativt om Spotify som tjänst! Han var upprörd över de avtal som slutits gällande ersättning mellan Spotify–> Skivbolag –> Artist. Framför allt skivbolagens oförmåga att föra vidare Spotify-intäkterna till de som gjort att aktieandelarna nu är värda guld, nämligen artisterna.

Tarda sera di domenica, guardo il video di Neda. Mi sembra di ricono­scere Arash Hejazi ma preferisco non credere a ciò che vedo. Gli man­do un’email.

Note about the picture, Arash the Archer: Legend has it that at the end of the war between Persia and Turan, Turan allowed the defeated Persians to choose an archer who would shoot an arrow from the top of Mount Tamavand and set the boundary of Iran. Arash was chosen, and at dawn one morning, Arash pulled the bow with all his might and let his arrow fly. It continued to fly until noon that day when it landed on the bank of the Oxus River in Central Asia. That remained the border of Iran for centuries.

Ecco la dimostrazione provata che partecipare all‘Eurofestival aiuta a farsi largo in Europa. Di Arash avevamo parlato più volte in questo blog, la prima delle quali per parlare del suo tormentone “Suddenly“. Partito dal nord, questo persiano trapiantato in Svezia ha spopolato in buona parte del continente, ma quando è arrivato sul palco di Mosca la sua popolarita non era così altissima.

Il sorprendente e meritato terzo posto in quota Azerbaigian con la bella Aysel con il motivo “Always” ne ha alzato le quotazioni (del resto in Francia la manifestazione è stata vista da 8 milioni di spettatori). E così l’esperto cantautore, uno che a noi piace parecchio, comincia la scalata al resto del Continente. Quella che trovate sopra, è la versione di “Suddenly” che è appena sbarcata in Francia.

Molto più dance, grazie al remix effettuato dal francse Dj Romzic ma soprattuto molto “paneuropea”, visto che all’inglese cantanto nel motivo orginale dalla svedese Rebecca Zadig e al persiano di Arash, si aggiunge il francese, per la voce del giovane Najim, francese di origini algerine. Pubblico delle banlieues e giovani francesi catturati in un colpo solo.  E il brano che non perde la sua bellezza. Intanto l’Italia continua a restare fuori. No comment

E’decisamente la settimana degli Black Eyed Peas, che sono prepotentemente schizzati ai vertici delle classifiche di vendita in Europa con il loro album “21 th Century Breakdown” (e nel Regno Unito) anche col singolo “Boom Boom Pow”. A casa nostra, e questa è una ottima notizia, primato fra i singoli per “Domani” il brano degli Artisti Uniti per sostenere il recupero dei beni culturali abruzzesi devastati dal sisma.

Trionfo totale nelle classifiche per “Fairytale” di Alexander Rybak, il vincitore dell‘Eurofestival, primo nel suo paese, la Norvegia ma secondo o ai primi posti quasi dappertutto. In Svezia classifica monopolizzata dalla rassegna, con Aysel e Arash quinti, ottima Yohanna, in classifica anche nel Regno Unito. Va bene anche il brano a firma italiana “Et Cetera” che in Irlanda è schizzato avanti di nove posizioni ed ora è quinto, in grande salita. Sotto, tutti i numeri uno. In alto riascoltiamo “Is it true?” dell’islandese Yohanna: bello il brano, di una bellezza mozzafiato lei.
