Anul acesta… o vară toridă, cu multe evenimente, călătorii şi bineînţeles muzică! Voi puncta aici doar câteva din evenimentele artistice ale acestei veri.

Printre primele concerte s-a numărat Festivalul “Ţintea muzicală”, o iniţiativă minunată a unor muzicieni cu care mă bucur să fiu şi prietenă de mulţi ani. Compozitoarele Adina Dumitrescu şi Dana Probst au organizat câteva seri de muzică de cameră în familie, invitând în cadrul casei lor din satul Ţintea (Băicoi, Jud.Prahova) – prieteni, vecini şi pe oricine ar fi doritor de serate de muzică clasică mai veche şi mai nouă. Concertele s-au bucurat de o primire foarte caldă, aşa că este foarte posibil ca acţiunea să se reia sperăm cu o anumită periodicitate.

În 14 august, la Centrul de cultură „Arcuş” din Sfântul Gheorghe, în ambianţa nobilă a castelului şi-a grădinilor sale splendide – loc de inspiraţie pentru atâţia pictori ce se refugiază aici pe timpul verii – a avut loc un recital vocal-instrumental susţinut de Ansamblul cameral „Remember Enescu” format din Cristina Radu (soprană), Eugen Dumitrescu & Corina Răducanu (pianişti). Nou înfiinţat, ansamblul oferă o formulă inedită, alternând în concertele sale momente instrumentale (în care sunt prezentate lucrări de referinţă din literatura pianistică la 4 mâini – interpretate de Corina Răducanu şi Eugen Dumitrescu, un duo deja afirmat de câţiva ani pe scenele concertistice din România) şi decupaje din lumea fascinantă şi atât de diversă a miniaturii vocale (din literatura universală de Lied). Având o reverenţă specială pentru uriaşa personalitate artistică a lui George Enescu, ansamblul îşi asumă ca o prioritate promovarea creaţiei sale în concertele pe care le susţine.

Recitalul de la Arcuş – intitulat „Enescu şi contemporanii” – a fost prilejuit de împlinirea a 128 de ani de la naşterea lui George Enescu, şi a propus un program deopotrivă meditativ şi antrenant, cu lucrări de Enescu, Silvestri, Jora, Donceanu, Bartok, Kodaly, Massenet, Debussy, Delibes, Satie, Turina şi Obradors.

Tot „Enescu şi contemporanii” s-a intitulat şi recitalul Ansamblului cameral „Remember Enescu”  din 15 septembrie din Bucureşti, susţinut în cadrul Festivalului internaţional „George Enescu”. De data aceasta l-am avut alături şi pe baritonul Andras Chiriliuc, iar programul a propus lucrări de Silvestri, Bartok, Poulenc, Satie, Delibes, Ravel, Ibert, Lehar şi bineînţeles Enescu.

Cu această ocazie a fost prezentată integral una din capodoperele enesciane cele mai iubite de public – ciclul de 7 Cântece pe versuri de Clement Marot).

Luna septembrie a mai găzduit în lumina-i de vară târzie, două concerte.

La Palatul brâncovenesc de la Mogoşoaia am avut prilejul să cânt alături de violoncelistul Alexandru Moroşanu şi pianista Tatiana Moroşanu – un program Haydn, cu o muzică solară, echilibrată şi plină de nobleţe care a emoţionat publicul adunat sub arcadele încărcate de istorie.

În 25 septembrie Sinaia a găzduit un nou recital al Ansamblului cameral „Remember Enescu” cu un program foarte divers, conţinând lucrări de Enescu, Brahms, Satie, Kosma, Mizrahy, Loewe, Piazzola şi Lloyd-Webber.

Concertul a avut loc în cadrul intim şi elegant al Vilei Luminiş, casa compozitoruli George Enescu – la Sinaia. Publicul a primit cu mare căldură acest eveniment.

Rund um die Reinoldi-Kirche fand der Mittelaltermarkt statt, mit Fechtgruppe, zwei Spielleut-Gruppen, Gauklern und historischem Riesenrad. Gemütlich anmutend schlängelten sichdie Stände in kleinen Gasssen um die sakralen Bauten und umstehenden Gebäude, abends im Feuer- und Kerzenschein, tagsüber erfüllt mit Rufen und Hämmern der Marktbeschicker und dem Gegacker, Gebell und Geschnatter der Tiere, die zusammen mit altem Landwirtschaftsgerät zwischen den Ständen in ihren Käfigen und Gehegen verteilt waren. Allgesamt ein hübscher Innenstadt-Mittelaltermarkt, auf dem Arcus und Trittfest jeweils laut für Stimmung sorgten und die zahlreichen Besucher viel zu schauen hatten.

Bemerkenswert war allerdings, dass dieser Teil des Markts, obschon nicht klein, nicht einmal die Hälfte der Veranstaltung ausmachte. An die Mittelalterabteilung hatte sich ein Teil des Dortmunder Wochenmarkts mit Jute getarnt an die Stände herangeschlichen und rings um den Markt, auf die umliegenden Plätze wuchernd, war ein großer Jahrmarkt aufgebaut, mit zwei Riesenrädern, Greifautomaten, Kattenkarusell und Hochseilkünstlern. Irritierte dies zunächst noch (Insbesondere die Bierstände und bunt blinkenden Karneval-Freßstände, die sich in die Mittelalter-Gänge schummelten), so wurde doch bald offenbar, dass diese Mischung für die vielen Besucher einen großen Reiz zu bilden schienen, da hier wirklich für jeden etwas geboten wurde.

So here’s another industry gossip first from the good folks at attla but this time we serve it up with a heavy heart! It is with great sadness that we announce that swiss snow and streetwear brand Arcus is no more. The more observant amongst you may have noticed owner’s Freddi and Nicholas mentioning the brand less and less of late as the decision to call it a day has arisen recently. Word is that the designers, artists and riders involved are hoping to regroup and remerge in a new form but for now we are left with a void.

Arcus made their name for super-premium quality clothing with their unique marriage of streetwear classics and innovative designs and silouhettes. We loved the brand and it will be sorely missed from the racks here at attla. We hope for good things for everyone involved and would like to extend our thanks to the guys at Arcus for the rad time we had working with them up to this point.

This day yielded some particularly interesting photos. I drove south to meet some rather spectacular arcus cloud structure in the parking lot of a local CVS. I moved north and down a little side road that is pretty much open space and got some more interesting images of more than likely the same system. I cannot call by name what I was seeing, there were some interesting features noted.

The last pictures show what appear to be scud-like features that are not detached. Over to the left there was a lowering which may have been some sort of wall cloud. I sat and watched it for a while checking for ANY signs of rotation. From what I know when one sees features like this, rotation is a possibility. Radar was patchy that day due to very few wifi hotspots where I was at. So, I could not really know what exactly was going on with this system.

PolarTREC – Teachers and Researchers Exploring and Collaborating, a project of the Arctic Research Consortium of the U.S. funded by the National Science Foundation – matches K-12 teachers with polar researchers to participate in polar research, as a pathway to improve science education. The program integrates research and education to produce long-term teacher-researcher collaborations, improved teacher content knowledge and instructional practices, and broad public interest and engagement in polar science.

Through PolarTREC, primarily K-12 teachers spend two to six weeks in the Arctic or Antarctic, working as an active and integral part of the science team. While in the field, teachers and researchers communicate extensively with students across the globe, using a variety of tools including online journals, forums, and interactive webinars that often reach hundreds of students at a time. Researchers report that the outreach activities provided through PolarTREC help bridge their science and the public and makes broader impacts fun, rewarding, and easy.

“I have a much stronger belief in the work I do now that I know that there are people out there who value my work,” one researcher said after participating in PolarTREC. “The experience I gained in working with both PolarTREC and their top-notch teachers taught me how to communicate my research better and even how to more effectively plan my research program so that it can be embedded into larger interdisciplinary problems.” According to initial evaluation data, other PolarTREC researchers reflected similar satisfaction with their participation in the program. Many also added that both their research and the scientific process benefit from including a teacher on their team. The need to explain their research and “boil it down to the raw essence” helped the research teams see how their work fits into a “bigger world picture” and how they can present their science effectively to a broad audience.

PolarTREC applicants (teachers and researchers) are thoroughly reviewed by a selection committee of their peers, and initial matches are based on similar science interests. Researchers selected to participate in PolarTREC receive about eight best match teacher applications, have the opportunity to interview three of them, and then make the final selection. Selected teachers participate in an intensive orientation and are trained extensively prior to the field season. Working with their researchers before the field season, teachers also acquire any needed equipment training, build their science knowledge, and get to know the team they will be working with. After the field season, teachers and researchers have sustained their relationships through co-presenting at scientific meetings and to schools and community groups, participating in data workshops, jointly creating classroom lesson plans, and writing proposals for future work together.

The gravel near the water’s edge crunched underneath Arcus’s boots, the rhythmic clattering slowly wearing the edge off of his irritation.  It took only a few steps for him to recognize the onset of peace, and his scowl softened even as his feet began to fall even more heavily on the noisy stones.  By the time he stood at the pool’s edge, Arcus welcomed the murmuring of the waterfall in place of the clacking rocks.

There was no doubt in Arcus’s mind that this was a very special place, reinforced in no small part by the city’s many myths about it.  Most of the tales his mother told were about great treasures that adventurers dreamed of finding at the waterfall’s source — magic boots, and swords, and arrows that would always fly true.  Occasionally, though, on the mornings when he found it hardest to leave his warm bed for cold chores, he was threatened with stories of creatures who stole away lazy children and imprisoned them at the top of the cascade.

All of these were only fairie tales, though, since no one really knew what was at the top of the cliff.  It was a sheer rock wall, and the water flowed down it in a strong, steady sheet rather than a rumbling foam.  The cliff’s edge was only barely visible from Arcus’s place beside the pool, blurred by both clouds and distance.  Boys — and girls, too, though they were scolded more harshly than the boys when they were caught — had been trying to scale the cliff for forever, as far as Arcus knew, without any success.  He had tried it himself more than a few times, but it would be easier to climb oiled glass than the smooth cliff wall.

Instead of continuing to fail at climbing the wall, Arcus had become a very successful rock-skipper.  Despite the steady stream that plummeted into the pool at the base of the falls, the water was incredibly placid, with only a few predictable ripples and eddies.  Though all of the boys could skip rocks across the calm surface, Arcus was one of the very few who had learned exactly how to bounce the rocks off the cliff wall and send them skittering back.  And though none of the boys had made a rock bounce all the way back to shore, Arcus could always bring them closest.

With a huff, Arcus folded his legs underneath him and flopped to sit at the edge of the pool, cross-legged and frowning.  His hand idly dropped to the ground to collect a stone, his thumb running experimentally over its edges, checking for the requisite curves on each side.  A strange set of grooves caught his attention, and he lifted the rock to examine it more carefully.

On one side of the stone, four straight lines had been deeply etched.  Three of them connected to form a rectangle, and the fourth was inserted into the rectangle’s open edge as though its final line had been turned sideways.  With a scowl at the strange symbol — anything unexpected was unwelcome, after this morning — Arcus flung the stone across the pond with a practiced flick of his wrist.  It clacked loudly against the cliff wall and came bouncing back, leaving a growing circle each place it touched the water.  Where every other stone stopped, however, this stone continued to jump across the surface.

As deep as he was in his own misery, Arcus didn’t even realize his accomplishment as the stone clattered back on top of the gravel.  He had scooped it back up and was preparing another throw when he recognized what had happened, furrowing his brows against the second of this stone’s surprises.  After a moment’s hesitation, he sent the rock out across the pond once more, and watched with growing excitement as it returned to shore.  With a bright smile finally breaking through his gloom, Arcus picked the stone up to throw it one more time — if he could do it three times in a row, then he could bring his friends up to show them!

His wrist flicked forward once more, but his smile faltered when he saw the stone’s first bounce.  It was much too high to maintain the momentum it needed.  He sighed in disappointment as the stone continued its path, already predicting how far it would return after bouncing against the wall.  When the stone clacked against the cliff, however, it didn’t return — instead, a small divot appeared in the flawless wall of water.

Arcus blinked twice, puzzled by the stone’s arrest.  He had never seen the water — much less the cliff face — be anything less than perfectly smooth.  Irritation battling with curiosity, Arcus pulled off his boots, breeches, and shirt to wade into the pool.  It wasn’t deep, only chest-high even against the cliff, so he was able to walk right up to the cascading water to investigate.

The stone was jutting from the cliff, though less than the width of a finger joint was visible.  Unless the stone had broken into the wall itself, Arcus’s throw had sent it careening into the only imperfection that anyone had ever seen in the cliff’s face.  With another stunned blink, Arcus jumped up to grasp the stone.  It came away in his hand and the water immediately became crystal-smooth once again, but, now that he knew where to look, Arcus could see the barely-perceptible difference in color that indicated a fissure in the cliff’s sheer surface.

Grinning wildly at his discovery, Arcus leapt up again to reach for the hole.  As his hand met it, his middle and fourth fingers slid easily in, giving him more than enough purchase to suspend his weight.  Though he sputtered against the flowing water, Arcus couldn’t help but laugh with delight — even this, only feet from the pool’s floor, was higher than anyone he knew had ever been!

Arcus placed the lucky stone between his teeth for safe-keeping, bent his head down to protect his face from the force of the falls, and swung his weight upward in a quest for another nearly-invisible handhold.

Imi pare rau ca ceea ce am scris s-a mai citit, ca am ostenit muncind in vremea Zeului Soare, iar cand a apus m-am straduit sa visez nestiind ca dimineata voi fi prea obosit ca sa-mi mai amintesc visul.

Det är fetaste snöstormen ute!

Nu ska jag kila ner till busshållsplatsen och dra till Arcus med Elin och kolla på fotboll. Sen bär de iväg till stan, sen ska vi bära av till Dollar $tore och köpa lite gottgott…

Nå er det på tide å ruste opp litt kunnskaper – finne ut hva som er godt. Ikke bare å drikke, men også i sammen med god mat. (Jeg fikk 5 av 10 rette)

Im Speisezimmern wird ein einfaches Essen auf echtem und altem
Silbergeschirr aufgetragen. Es sind auch korinthische Bronzegefäße
im Gebrauch ; denn durch diese Gefäße wird Spurinna erfreut. Oft
wird das Essen von Komödienschauspielern unterhaltsam gestaltet.
So wird auch der Genuss mit der Beschäftigung mit der Literatur
(gefördert). Im Sommer nimmt das Essen auch etwas von der Nacht.
Für niemanden ist dies langweilig. In so heiterer Stimmung wird das
gemeinsame Essen von Spurinna und Freunden aufgeteilt.

Zur zweiten Stunde fördert Spurinna seine Schuhe, er geht 3 Meilen
spazieren und er trainiert sowohl seinen Geist und Körper. Falls
Freunde da sind, werden ernsthafte Gespräche geführt. Falls nicht,
ird ein Buch gelesen (vorgelesen),danach ruht er sich aus. Bald danach
besteigt er seinen Wagen, er nimmt seine Ehefrau oder einen
Freund mit. Es werden sieben Meilen zurückgelegt, dann geht er wiederum
eine Meile spazieren, wiederum ruht er sich aus. Die Badezeit
wird angekündigt. Im Winter, aber ist sie zur 9. Stunde, im Sommer
zur 8. Stunde. In der Sonne geht er nackt spazieren. Dann bewegt er
sich heftig und lange durch Ballspielen heftig und lange; so kämpft er
mit dem Alter.

Fuscus fragt: Wie, ist es, wenn auf dem Land, Besuch
eingeteilt wird?
Plinius antwortet: Ich wache meisten um die erste Stunde
Auf. Das Fenster bleibt geschlossen;
damit ich viel nachdenke.

Aber nun, mein lieber Fuscus, muss ich zum
Landhaus zurück gehen. Meine Pächter warten.

Eine große Menschenmenge füllt die Straßen. Viele Zuschauer suchten
das Amphitheater auf, denn Liveneius Gegulus veranstaltete ein
Gladiatorenspiel. Nicht nur Pompejaner sondern auch Nucerianer besuchten
die Schauspiele.
Schon betreten die Gladiatoren die Arena. Zuerst kommen zwei
Tierkämpfer und greifen die Löwen an. Dann kämpfen die Netzkämfer
und die Murmillionen gegeneinander. Jetzt feuern die Pompejaner
Celadus an und die Nucerianer Glahyrinus. Plötzlich ist nach einem
leichten Anfang ein Blutbad zwischen den Pompejanern und den
Nucerinern entstanden. Die Zuschauer benutzen zuerst Beschimpfungen,
dann Steine und zuletzt Eisen. Die Pompejaner verwunden
viele Nuceriner und töten auch einige.

Bank holiday weekend will see the towers bite the dust

As widely reported in the media today, the Tinsley cooling towers will be demolished in the early hours of Sunday 24 August. A viewing platform at Meadowhall will be set up for spectators.

I guess that the potential of the Towers as a fundraising opportunity was highlighted with the success of the cooling towers gift shop, and as a result Eon has got together with the University of Sheffield’s Archaeology consultancy, Arcus, to produce a souvenir book and postcard collection. The beneficiaries are the Rotherham Hospice and Neurocare at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Less than two weeks to go; enjoy the towers while you can…

Vad tiden går nyss var det en månad tills det är Arcus Loppis, det fanns så mycket tid att gå igenom alla kartonger på vindan & i stugan. Men nu är det bara 4dagar kvar tills allt skall vara klart med genomgångarna. Jag har hunnit att kolla i stugan vilka kartonger som kan säljas direkt utan att pratas om. Nu idag så har jag tagit ett beslut att sälja jackor som är försmå/förstora till barnen, speciellt jackor som Fredrica har haft, jag hade tänkt att Thea skulle få ärva men att ha dem hängt i flera år och flera år kommande tills Thea kan använda dem och när det är dax så kanske det är fel årstid så resultatet blir att Jackorna inte blir använd iallafall, bara hängt i flera år och tagit plats för jackor och kläder som används.

Har fått ner några kartonger med Jontes leksaker (hjälm,borrmaskin,skruvmejslar,verktyg) & mina kära Finn & Fiffi tidningar, jag håller dem så kära vet inte riktigt om jag vill sälja dem fast de ligger ju bara uppe på vindan och tar plats.

Nu har jag blivit riktigt less på min dator jag har fortfarande problem att gå ut på nätet, tur att jag kan ta hem mailen iallafall. När den håller på så här så ids man ju inte ens slå på den, så nu sitter jag vi Fredricas dator, tur att hon har fått tillbaka den nu när pappa har kommit hem under praktiken. Fia fick en dator för många år sedan och då lånade pappa den när han skulle upp till Övertårneå för att plugga, isommras när våra kära vänner var på semester hos oss så hade U & M dragit internet kabel till alla rum, det blev ju jätte bra nu när min dator är kokko.

Jag håller på att rensa i kartonger, alla saker som jag inte känner att vi behöver och inte har använt på 1år, har vi ingen användning för jag vet att vi har kartonger med saker som vi inte har rört på flera år som igentlingen är bara att kasta hela kartongen igentligen, jag vill gå igenom den innan jag kastar eller skickar till Arcus. Jag har tagit ner ca 15 kartonger från vindan och jag har sorterat igenom alla 5st skall upp igen eftersom de innehåller vinter skor/mössor/handskar. Jag tror att jag har 5-6 st kartonger som jag såg direkt skulle till Loppisen, sedan så har jag börjat med att ha en kartong som innehåller sådant som är bara att kasta direkt & en kartong som Urban skall vara med och bestämma om vi skall ha kvar eller kasta/loppis.

Jag började att kolla vilka räkningar som vi har kvar att betala som låg på skrivbordet, gud vilken hög med saker vi har på bordet jag måste bli bättre att hålla bordet “rent” från alla småsaker. Sedan så jag i ett hörn där står morgondagens arbete att gå igenom, det känns inge roligt att hålla på med att rensa ensam det skulle gå snabbare om vi var två om det, fast det är ändå roligt för resultatet blir ju mindre saker som tar upp yta och energin kan flöda fritt & det går lättare att städa.

I helgen så är det Vårmässa och som tradition så brukar jag vara där varje dag fast i år så måste jag offra en dag iallafall, det skall ev. fara till IKEA Urban skall till Happis och då funderar jag på att fara till Ikea för det finns några hyllor & lådor som vi behöver fast det är ju detta med pengar som inte finns just nu än hur man vänder. Nu när gubben kommer hem så skall vi två gå upp på vindan och ta ner alla skor och jackor/klävder som till hör vår/höst nu skall jag kolla igenom allt som vi har till alla tre barnen och skall ta ut de som är för smått och sälja antingen på tradera/blocket eller på arcus. Måste ju kolla om mina barn behöver någon nya jackor eller mössor (tror inte på mössfronten) (ser ni vad jag läser hihi) Undra om rättstavelse POLISEN kommer nu att rätta till mig..hm.. fast åt andra sidan det skiter jag i och om människan i södra Svergie inte har något annat för sig…tycker synd om den människan. I alla fall har jag och pappa varit iväg och raggat kartonger och det var ont om dem, for till Kvantum = Ingen, Willy = 2 st, det fick räcka för idag jag har 3 st på klubben som jag kunde ta. Så på måndag så kan jag fara en sväng istället när jag far förbi sjukgympan ( hoppas, lingonveckan). Jag skall inte fara iväg på affärer när jag är rast lös (hihi) för när vi då svängde in på ÖB så hittade jag en snöshyffel (????) till Thea så hittade jag flera saker till Jazper,ett Blingbling halsband, 2st blingbling diamantring till halsbanden, en rosa pipboll.

Denna cykel vill Thea ha, jag frågade henne om hon inte ville ha den andra cykel som stod bredvid ( lika dan cykel fast utan stödhjul) Blankt NEJ den har inga stödhjul sa hon till mig.

Jag skulle vilja köpa en ny cykel till Fredrica men jag vet inte vilken tum hon skall ha tanken på att hon är längre än mig så det blir inte någon mindre tum än min cykel iallafall. Men detta med pengar är ett stort problem just nu i vårt hem. Vi får väl se om vi har tur på 10kr lotten eller krapbingon det skulle sitta bra men en stor vinst, man kan iallafall hoppas.

Die Berentzen-Gruppe AG muss 2007 gegenüber dem Vorjahr einen deutlich höheren Verlust hinnehmen. Das operative Ergebnis sank auf minus 9 Mio. Euro, nach einem bescheidenen Plus von 500.000 Euro im Vorjahr. Der Jahresfehlbetrag beläuft sich nach vorläufigen Zahlen auf 11,4 Mio. Euro. 2006 war das Defizit mit 700.000 Euro deutlich geringer ausgefallen. Der Konzernumsatz ohne Branntweinsteuer legte von 180 Mio. auf fast 186 Mio. Euro zu. Berentzen war schon 2003 in rote Zahlen gerutscht. Durch den Verkauf einer Beteiligung am norwegischen Konzern Arcus im Jahr 2005 verbesserte sich kurzfristig die Bilanz. Ende 2006 entschloss sich das Unternehmen zu einer Neuausrichtung mit Konzentration auf die Kernmarken. “Die neue Geschäftspolitik ist darauf ausgerichtet, die Ertragskraft durch mehr Markengeschäft zu erhöhen und das Unternehmen nachhaltig profitabel zu machen”, so Vorstandsvorsitzender Axel Dahm.

Durch den Strategiewechsel will Berentzen 2009 wieder schwarze Zahlen schreiben. Belastet hätten im vergangenen Jahr vor allem die Marketinginvestitionen für die Marke Berentzen. Außerdem beeinflussten höhere Rohstoffpreise und geringere durchschnittliche Netto-Erlöse pro Flasche das Ergebnis. So sei der Absatz bei Spirituosen von knapp 93 auf rund 104 Mio. 0,7- l-Flaschen gestiegen, dieses Wachstum stamme aber zu großen Teilen aus dem wenig lukrativen Geschäft mit Handels- und Zweitmarken. In diesem Segment hätten gestiegene Produktionskosten aufgrund langfristiger Lieferverträge nicht an den Handel weitergegeben werden können. Immerhin sei der Absatz der Dachmarke Berentzen im vergangenen Jahr wieder geklettert. Die endgültigen Zahlen 2007 sollen am 26. März präsentiert werden.
