Today was RIDICULOUS!

All ready for rain, and school!

First I woke up at 4:30a.m., convinced that it was 8:30, and that we’d woken up too late! Then, I woke up at 8 (which is too late to get em to school by 8:30 anyway). We hustle like mad, and em gets ready by 8:45. Less than awesome performance. Still, we go to school better late than never…but when we get there – it’s closed! Deserted! We go to all the entrances just to make sure – and they’re locked! So, of course, we go to the local cafe to mull over the mystery.

The lady there doesn’t know, but suggests it’s likely a Professional Development day. We buy the story, and some steamed milk, and an espresso…and meet an interesting guy named Larry, who trains horse-trainers, and has a ranch with like 70 horses on it. I was like, ok, sweetness…since the stun of  getting em ready for school and it being closed was still occupying my whole mind(!).

Then we came home and em watched the Aristocats – an absolutely brilliant movie. We also searched up some math and word sheets so that em could have some school work to do…to alleviate the guilt that both of us I was feeling. While Em was working away, I coordinated some plans to go see “where the wild things are” with big Emily and my G-ma. These solidified to include dinner with my G-ma.

Unfortunately, the afternoon and evening turned into a logistical nightmare. I had to take Jai-Wen and another for-ex student to Vernon for a meeting with their coordinator. First, we head out of Lumby on the wrong road…until we reach Cherryville. This was the wrong way for dayyam sure. So we pull over, and ask a random farmer for directions. he set us right, yet lacked the magical ability to buy us back 20 minutes of driving in Beautiful British Colombia. We make it to pick up Irvin, fill up gas, and drive in to Vernon. We only arrive 10 minutes late, by some mixture of miracle and speed.

Em and I dropped them off, and then went to get big Emily (heretofore called

E.Mac). We all went to a cafe, and chilled out for a bit, discussing life, and entertaining Em’s knock-knock jokes. We returned to pick up our for-ex peeps, but their coordinator wanted more time. Dilemma. Dinner with my grandma was in 30 minutes. they wanted 30 minutes of time to meet. i suggested they stay longer, I go eat, drive right back and get them, then drop them both at home in Lumby, then drive back for the movie. It seemed the only solution, but it worked. needless to say, we had a delicious dinner, and I got a good chance to chat with Jai-wen and her friend and learn some mandarin!

We watched “where the wild things are” ( though I missed the first few minutes), and it was wonderful! It was hilarious to see how much Em was like Max. Even my grandma liked it. The kids beside us didn’t like it…what emotionless desert-souled nincompoops.

Em is currenty giving me an entertaining story about bear awareness

“you have to look down, and not make eye contact, because that’s challenging for a fight. What you have to do is just look down, and say things like: “I’m not challenging you, I’ve been bear-aware for a long time, and I’m just looking for my car…I hope it’s close”.” BAHAHAHAHAHAH!

oh, we also listened last night and tonight to William Sears reading stories from the dawn breakers for children. What a good story teller! I recalled my times falling asleep before he got to chapter 6 every time. Likely why I’m so shaky on my Baha’i history.

Love from the woods.. It is picture perfect to have the sun and the trees. Drawing nature is part of learning and making sense of our surroundings. Children also love drawing the animals and rainbows. In my experience, children may copy from various sources. For an example, my daughter had paused Kungfu Panda movie so that she could draw Tigress, one of the sidekick warriors. Once, she drew Marie from the Aristocats just by looking at a few stickers in her collection.

For the past couple of days I have been learning my scales and my arpeggios. I’m told if you are faithful to your daily practising, you’ll find that your progress is rather encouraging.

It’s probably wrong that at my age the best I can come up with to fill my time is binging on Disney songs and films, but at times it’s nice to just forget that I’m incredibly old and fall back on my childhood memories.

If I ever get the time, I want to buy a piano and teach a kitten named Berlioz to play it. I’m sure we would be the best of friends.

Update: My brain was spotted in Portugal holding hands with a strange man, police are currently investigating.

Marie

Though from an older Disney movie – “The Aristocats” – Marie is actually a very new meet and greet character, appearing for the first time in the last few years.

She has been seen primarily at Epcot in Florida.  She appears mostly in France.  She has also been seen in the back hallway of the Character Spot building.  Also, she has been seen rarely in Hollywood Studios in front of the Hat and in the Animation Building.

Omslaget är av kartongliknande pärmar, och som bilaga till vart och ett av de fyra häftena fanns ursprungligen en affisch. Det påföljande året samlades samtliga dessa titlar i ett tjockt album, åter igen med titeln “Disney 50 glada år – En Disney-klassiker”.

Q  How did you get into sewing?

. Like many, we made and repaired our own clothing at home out of necessity.  Later this skill became handy when looking for work.  I heard of a sewing plant in Hong Kong and applied for the job.

Q  What did you study in school?

. I was enrolled in education on and off, when it was affordable.

Q  Name your strengths.

. Persistence. Penny-pinching. Frugal to a fault.

Q  Name your weaknesses.

. Often I am indecisive.

Q  What is your best character trait?

. helping others.

Q  What character trait do you like in others?

. sense of humour.

Q  Tell us about a favourite memory.

. As little girls, we climbed trees to get at lychee fruit.  It was like getting free candy.

As an adult, I purchased a black leather handbag with with bronze clasps and a textured exterior.  It wasn’t too expensive, but it was one of my favourite things.

Q  What was the worst thing that happened to you?

. When I was little, I got my finger caught in live crab pincers.  As an adult, in the 1980’s the worst thing was getting hepatitis through a blood transfusion.

Q  What is your nickname?

. I don’t have a nickname.

Q  Who is a sports hero?

. You are asking the wrong question, sorry.

Q  What sport do you enjoy?

. Occasionally, I would purchase tickets to a football game (North Americans call it Soccer,) and I would go with my mother.

. A princess.  What girl doesn’t want to be a princess?

. I choose restaurants based on the view, that is, how pleasant the view looking out the window is.  I have a compulsion with encryption.  None of my friends nor family know but I am quite fixated by it.  I have developed my own written cypher.

. Work hard. Raise my children the best I can.

Q  What is your hobby?

. I collect stamps; I collect newspaper clippings: health, recipes, fortune-telling articles.

. Lotus root with pork broth soup.  Straw mushrooms with vegetables and mungbean vermicelli.  Pan fried tiger prawns with snow peas.

Q  dream car?

. I’m not choosy.  Something small like a Pontiac Sunbird.

. I would like to see China and Hong Kong again.  I last went there in 1987

Q  Who is your favorite music artist?

. I like the older music, songs in the style of Tony Orlando.

Q  What is your favourite video game?
. I play with my kids’ colecovision.  My two favourites are “Ladybug” and “Mr. Do“.  Once you get the game’s playing pattern down, you can learn of the “safe-spots” to wait.  I can last quite long in either of these games.

. Disney movies like The Aristocats or Bedknobs and Broomsticks.

Q  What kind of TV shows do you watch?

. I watched Dallas for a while and I got pretty caught up in it.  The problem was it was only on once a week.  After that ended I began watching the daily soaps.  I watched the Young and the Restless for a long time.

Q  What is a hidden talent of yours?

.  Did I mention that I can make my own clothes?  On an unrelated note, like most Chinese ladies in the community, I plant a vegetable garden.  It keeps me busy.  It keeps the food costs down, & we get bragging rights on the produce that we harvest and share.

. For the one or two times a year that I drink coffee: one cream and one sugar.
