<h5 style="text-align:center;">Este especial castillo contruido como mausoleo en forma cilindrica por el Emperador Adriano en el río Tiber cerca de lo que es ahora el Vaticano.</h5>
<h5 style="text-align:center;">El nombre de este Castllo proviene de una estatua del Arcángel Miguel que se encuentra en el techo, Adriano quería que sus restos y los de su familia descansaran allí, como efectivamente ocurrió.</h5>
<h5 style="text-align:center;">Actualmente es un museo en el cual se puede disfrutar de una vista maravillosa. desde su techo.</h5>

El título de la entrada contiene varias lecturas; por un lado la más directa, esa que sigue a la imagen de las viviendas de estos arquitectos franceses, esa que a duras penas contiene la vida doméstica entre plásticos translúcidos y estructuras industriales. Por otro lado, el habitar del mañana, ese que se asemejará a un invernadero, el del calentamiento climático, ese futuro al que <a title="http://www.lacatonvassal.com/index.php" href="http://www.lacatonvassal.com/index.php" target="_blank">lacaton &#38; vassal</a> parecen adelantarse apostando por la rehabilitación, la intervención mínima, la economía y la ecología. Probablemente es el mejor momento para recuperar su discurso, su filosofía de &#8220;mínimos medios para alcanzar máximos de confort, de espacio y posibilidades&#8221;.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Bajo el título “How it would be, if house was dreaming” ( &#8220;Que pasaría si las casas soñarán&#8221;) <a href="http://www.urbanscreen.com/">Urban Screen</a>, un grupo de artistas y arquitectos, intervienen en la fachada, bastante austera, de la Galerie der Gegenwart. La intervención bastante novedosa, se realiza  a través de proyecciones logrando dar vida al edificio.</p>

<p>El MACBA, obra del arquitecto Richard Meier es un conocido museo de Barcelona. Destaca por su color blanco que contrasta con el resto de edificios de la zona. Al anochecer cambia completamente, está iluminado exteriormente por puntos de luz, lo que nos permite apreciar sus volúmenes. La luz del interior es mayor que la luz natural que hay en el exterior, así no nos encontramos con reflejos en los cristales.</p>
<p>Realizar esta fotografía no resulta fácil. Es una zona muy transitada, frecuentada por skaters y peatones. El espacio para realizar la toma es reducido, y dadas las proporciones del MACBA me vi obligado a realizar varias tomas para después formar una única fotografía.</p>
<p>Como os podéis imaginar aparecían varios patinadores borrosos por efecto de la baja velocidad de la toma que daban una apariencia fantasmagórica y he tenido que hacer retoques para que no se vieran, sin perder el ambiente de la plaza.</p>
<p>No acaba todo aquí, como es habitual en este tipo de fotografía, hay que corregir la perspectiva, para evitar la fuga de líneas, nuestros ojos no están acostumbrados a ver edificios deformados ya que nuestro cerebro las corrige automáticamente.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>En el año 2005, se inaguró uno de los hoteles más<em> in</em>(para el pueblo llano sería algo así como un hotel de diseño), el Hotel Puerta de América. Este hotel de 12 plantas está construido en la avenida madrileña del mismo nombre, muy concurrida por los numerosos autobuses que llegan a la estación principal de Madrid cercana al hotel.</p>
<p>Este hotel además de destacar por su fachada colorista, guarda las obras de 18 arquitectos y diseñadores en su interior. Cada lata desde el sótano a la duodécima planta está concebida por un artista diferente. Desde Victorio y Lucchino, pasando por Norman foster y llegando a Zaha Hadid, cada uno de ellos deja en la estancia su sello personal.</p>

The project explores how new forms of habitable infrastructure might be extrapolated from a geopolitical agreement – in this case, materializing architectural form from the legal interstices of the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oslo_Accords">Oslo Accords</a>.<br />
The result is a fantastic example of architectural speculation: genuinely massive – and impossibly cantilevered – bridges used as transport links, aerial housing, and skyborne agricultural complexes, all in one.</p>

<p>While clearly defying security protocols, as the "continuous enclave" and its network of bridges cross through sovereign Israeli airspace, these structures would link the dispersed islands of infrastructurally underserved territory now under Palestinian control.<br />
From Ramos's own project description:</p>
<ul>This thesis takes a formal approach to understanding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by studying mechanisms of control within the West Bank. The occupation of the West Bank has had tremendous effects on the urban fabric of the region because it operates spatially. Through the conflict, new ways of imagining territory have been needed to multiply a single sovereign territory into many. It is only through the overlapping of two separate political geographies that they are able to inhabit the same landscape.</ul>
<p>One might say that these bridges present us with <em>the staple</em> as geopolitical form.</p>

<p>"The Oslo Accords," Ramos continues, "have been integral to this process of division."</p>
<ul>By defining various control regimes, the Accords have created a fragmented landscape of isolated Palestinian enclaves and Israeli settlements. The intertwined nature of these fragments makes it impossible to divide the two states easily. By connecting the fragments through a series of under- and overpasses, the border between the two states has shifted vertically.</ul>
<p>In the following cross-section, you can see the internal stacking of the space – an inhabited borderzone that weaves through the lower atmosphere.</p>

<p>To my mind, the project avoids the most obvious and expected pitfall of such an approach – which would be to suggest, naively, that architecture can, in and of itself, lead to a more thorough and lasting peace in the region, as if the entirety of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be eradicated <em>if only they had better architecture</em>.<br />
Ramos instead uses the Oslo Accords as a kind of spatial source-code from which unanticipated structural forms might be extracted.<br />
For those of you who have read <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1885254008?ie=UTF8&#38;tag=bldgblog-20&#38;linkCode=as2&#38;camp=1789&#38;creative=390957&#38;creativeASIN=1885254008"><em>Delirious New York</em></a>, it's as if the Oslo Accords have been turned into a geopolitically active <a href="http://ci.columbia.edu/0240s/0242_2/0242_2_s7_text.html">1916 Zoning Law</a>. That law, of course, established spatial guidelines – for instance, enforcing setbacks for buildings, leading to an era in which skyscrapers rose up like ever-narrowing ziggurats – from which the buildings of Manhattan would then be shaped.<br />
As Koolhaas himself writes, in the wake of the Zoning Law architects would "have to carve the final Manhattan archetype from the invisible rock of its zoning envelope in a campaign of specification."<br />
In Ramos's project, that "invisible rock" consists of disputed territorial claims hovering virtually over the geography of the West Bank. The distinct new form of spatiality "carved" from that rock is <em>the bypass</em>.</p>

<p>Again, from the project description:</p>
<ul>One feature of the Oslo Accords is the bypass road which links Israeli settlements to Israel, bypassing Palestinian areas in the process. These are essential to the freedom of movement for the settlers within the Occupied Territories. Extrapolating on the bypass, this thesis explores the ramifications of a continuous infrastructural network linking the fragmented landscape of Palestinian enclaves. In the process, a continuous form of urbanization has been developed to allow for the growth and expansion of the Palestinian state. Ultimately, this thesis questions the potential absurdity of partition strategies within the West Bank and Gaza Strip by attempting to realize them.</ul>
<p>Thus creating what Ramos calls <em>bypass urbanism</em>, or a self-connected maze of new territories in the sky.</p>

<p>There are any number of other directions such a project could go, but I'm particularly excited by the idea of applying this same sort of analysis to other conflict zones, elsewhere, all over the world.<br />
Of course, the precedents for this are many. After all, what is the Berlin Wall but a piece of architecture pulled from the dreamscape of international legal infrastructure?<br />
In fact, I'm reminded here of Rupert Thomson's under-appreciated recent novel <a href="http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2007/01/divided-kingdom.html"><em>Divided Kingdom</em></a> – especially because the basic premise of that book was at least partially inspired by Rem Koolhaas's own student thesis project, <a href="http://maudnewton.com/blog/?p=9145"><em>Exodus, or The Voluntary Prisoners of Architecture</em></a>. As Koolhaas wrote:</p>
<ul>Once, a city was divided in two parts. One part became the Good Half, the other part the Bad Half. The inhabitants of the Bad Half began to flock to the good part of the divided city, rapidly swelling into an urban exodus. If this situation had been allowed to continue forever, the population of the Good Half would have doubled, while the Bad Half would have turned into a ghost town. After all attempts to interrupt this undesirable migration had failed, the authorities of the bad part made desperate and savage use of architecture: they built a wall around the good part of the city, making it completely inaccessible to their subjects.The Wall was a masterpiece.</ul>
<p>The <a href="http://www.bdonline.co.uk/story.asp?sectioncode=428&#38;storycode=3134384">U.S.–Mexico border</a> would seem an obvious place for any investigation of "bypass urbanism" to begin; just today, the <a href="http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/23/opinion/23mon4.html"><em>New York Times</em></a> looked at the decaying after-effects of the <a href="http://www.state.gov/www/regions/eur/bosnia/bosagree.html">Dayton Accords</a> and their spatio-sovereign impact on the future of Bosnia; and <a href="http://lebbeuswoods.wordpress.com/">Lebbeus</a> <a href="http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2007/10/without-walls-interview-with-lebbeus.html">Woods</a> has long explored the architectural effects of <a href="http://lebbeuswoods.wordpress.com/2009/02/07/metastructure/">political separation</a>, from Paris and Berlin to Israel and Sarajevo, seeking out those fissures wherein geopolitics exhibits its own peculiar form of spatial tectonics.<br />
But what new kinds of space might we yet extract from territorial agreements between, say, India and Pakistan over Kashmir, or Turkey and Greece over <a href="http://blogs.qub.ac.uk/architecture/2009/01/30/belfast-students-help-unite-last-divided-city/">Nicosia</a> – or, for that matter, what strange infrastructures might we build in <a href="http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/baarle-hertog.html">Baarle-Hertog</a>, what pavilions inspired by the <a href="http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2008/07/akwizgran-discrepancy.html">Akwizgran Discrepancy</a>, and how might most interestingly extract architecture from the <a href="http://bldgblog.blogspot.com/2009/02/bering-bridge.html">international date line</a>?</p>

<p style="text-align:center;">Paris-based architects Beckmann-N’Thépé Architects have announced to build a new Korkeassari Zoo at Helsinki in association with the TN+ landscape designers. The architects envisaged an intelligent rehabilitation of Korkeassari’s zoological island from the movement in the various biozones to the build a modern entrance structure. According to the architects, the key focused area is its architectural interventions to make it a mysterious and wild place for the future city. The entrance assembling the set of utilities that are vital to run the zoo was one of the main focuses like the visual identity, risk of shapelessness and pierced with cavities.</p>

<p>Seoul architects G.Lab* of <a href="http://www.gansam.com/">Gansam Partners</a> have unveiled their proposal for an art centre with a branch-like structure for Gimpo, South Korea.</p>

<p>The proposal for the Gimpo Art Hall embraces the city’s status as an emerging regional hub while reflecting upon history and local environment.</p>

<p>The Art Hall is located on the eastern end of a city block, with street access in all directions excluding the west and views toward a park and mountainscape to the south and southeast.</p>

<p>There is a pedestrian friendly walk connecting the site to the new gymnasium opposite the eastern road which is incorporated in the design. The emphasis on pedestrian access is inherent and accentuated in the design.</p>

<p>By lifting the building mass above the street level, a covered pedestrian plaza is created. The formal Entrance is also elevated, resulting in a public viewing deck which amplifies unobstructed sightlines.</p>

<p>La suite principal tiene una superficie de <strong>200 m2</strong>, ocupa todo el tercer piso y goza de una magnífica vista con una terraza de <strong>25 metros</strong> de ancho.</p>

<p>En el segundo piso se encuentran ubicadas <strong>5 suites</strong>, 2 de las cuales tiene acceso directo a la terraza. El área común alrededor del cuarto de lectura fue creada para lograr un ambiente de convivencia y relajación.</p>

La <strong>alberca interior</strong> tiene un largo de <strong>25 metros</strong> y entre otras habitaciones se puede encontrar un salón con <strong>cuarto de cine</strong>, una <strong>habitación de música</strong>, y un <strong>comedor</strong> con la posibilidad de abrirse al mar.</p>

<p>Por si fuera poco, este yate es <strong>autosustenable</strong> y fue desarrollado con las más revolucionarias tecnolologías sustentables. Recicla energía térmica así como cualquier desperdicio tanto orgánico como inorgánico sin comprometer sus aspectos y detalles lujosos.</p>
<p>La superficie del yate está cubierta por <strong>paneles fotovoltáicos</strong> que conforman una superficie de <strong>900 m2 </strong>para proporcionar energía solar con la cual funciona el barco. Distintos tipos de energía son administrados en una computadora central.</p>

<p>(EN) On the November 16th, the jury of the ENOR Prize announced the winners in a ceremony that has taken place at Vigo, Spain. The project Castelo Novo Castle developed by Luís Miguel Correia, Nelson Mota, Susana Constantino (comoco) and Vanda Maldonado was among the 39 finalists of the circa 400 candidates.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;">Os traigo imágenes que, en el día de hoy, me han dejado sin palabras. Se trata de un hotel en Navarra &#8216;en medio de la nada&#8217;. Obra de unos arquitectos hasta ahora desconocidos para mí, <a href="http://www.lopez-rivera.com" target="_blank">EMILIANO LÓPEZ Y MÓNICA RIVERA</a>.</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">HOTEL AIRE DE BÁRDENAS (Navarra, 2007).</p>
<p style="text-align:justify;">Cada habitación, cada ventana habitable como ellos llaman, subraya el paisaje de una forma excepcional.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Muy bueno lo que han hecho los diseñadores de interiores holandeses <a href="http://www.i29.nl/" target="_blank">i29</a> para la agencia Gummo en Amsterdam. Como sólo van a utilizar las oficinas durante dos años, el estudio les ha convencido para que opten por una solución asequible y responsable. ¿Cómo? Con muebles usados, comprados en subastas on line y tiendas de caridad. Los han pintado todos de gris, las paredes de blanco y&#8230;¡ya está!</p>
