Shamita Shetty made her debut with multi starer movie Mohabbatein. But she bagged hot girl image with the item number Chori Pe Chori in Saathiyaa. Saathiyaa is a romantic movie starred Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherji in lead role.

A.R.Rahman has composed the music to this movie. Asha Bhosle, Karthik and Blaaze were sang this song. This song was shot in the beautiful beaches. Shamita has appeared with some short white and blue dress which gave required look to her.

Blue (2009) failed to impress critics but won the success at Box Office. A.R.Rahman’s music is also played key role in commercial success. Kylie Minogue who is one of the crazy singer in world, appeared as item girl in this movie. Her appearance also pulled crowd into theaters.

She featured along with  Lara Dutta , Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt in the song Chiggy Wiggy. She sang this song along with Sonu Nigam. She is looking very attractively in the age of 41 also. Her dance skills and face expressions mesmerized Bollywood fans.

Producers spent huge amount on the settings for this song.

w adalah seorang anak laki-laki yang lumayan ganteng, manis, gokil, and culun tuh juga kata orang!!!. Kelahiran Jakarta 09 oktober 1990, sebut ja nama w ADIT. Dimulai pertama banget w masuk smk arrahman depok, tepat tanggal 15 juli 2005. tadinya w males banget masuk smk arrahman, but itung-itung gak berat di ongkos he….he…… cz schoolnya deket bgt ma home w. kisah cinta w dimulai sejak w duduk di kelas 1 smk w dipertemukan oleh seorang wanita cantik, manis, imoet, dya lebih muda 2 tahun dari pada w, parasnya and kecantikannya mirip artis sinetron asmirandah membuat diriku jatuh cinta kepadanya, cinta pandangan pertama sebut ja namanya wulan saat tuh dya masih duduk dikelas 2 mts Arrahmaniyah. Gw  memang suka ma dya and rasa tuk memiliki tuk memang ada…mungkin keberanian gw ja yang kurang..he….he…tuk deketin dya hampir 6 bulan lebih w suka ma dya. Dimulai dari pedkate alias pendekatan yang lucu abiz yang tadi w bilangin masalh nya w takut ma cewe g gentle cuy…yang  pada akhirnya cinta w terpendam pada saat itu, dan gak biasa di ungkapin tuh…..

Habizzzz 1 tahun lebih w vacum dari cwe2..mank keputusan w w gak mau dulu mencintai cwe cz w pengen focus dulu ma pelajaran ……tiba saatnya penerimaan murid baru smk arrahman SMK Arrahman  Depok. Disini w dipertemukan oleh sesosok cewe buat w si sempurna dari segi fisiknya manis, cantik, putih doank..and cwe ini bedah bgt dari cwe yang pernah w suka sebelumnya yang membuat w cinta mati ma dya.

Begono ceritanya…….s

W dipercaya untuk mendampingi gugus (mopd) pada saat penerimaan murid baru di SMK Arrahman alias menjadi kakak pendamping gugus. Mank si hati w senang banget dipercaya buat pendamping gugus 17. W berharap disinilah w dapet bertemu cwe yang w idam2 kan. Bukan w doank yang berpikir kaya gitu tapi, hampir semua anak laki2 teman w yang menjadi pendamping gugus berpikir kya gitu sama kya w..heeee and janji w pengen focus pelajaran batal semua gara2 w ketemu ma manjilah….

Dya lah yang terakhir buat w

Dan pada akhirnya w dipertemukan ma dya sebut ja namanya manjilah w panggil (ku”cing)….waktu tuh w sedang meng absen murid-murid baru SMK Arrahman yang pasti dari nama yang huruf awalnya A doank..pas nama huruf berawal M, Manjilah teriak w!!!!! hadir or ga??? Tiba-tiba hatiku terpanah, mata ku terbuka  sampe-sampe melotot…!!!seorang cwe manis bgt, imoet bgt, lucu menjawab HADIR KAK!!!! W menatap ke arahnya , wah…SUBBHANALLOH cantik bgt. matanya berbinar-binar seolah-olah memancarkan pandangan yang penuh cinta. Memang awalnya dya hanya cwe biasa ja w hanya sekedar mengagumi ja cz w ga mau pacaran dulu mau  focus pelajaran. Hari demi hari w jalani menjadi pendamping gugus, lama kelaman setiap mengabsen dya perasaan w mulai berubah. Bila w sering lihat dya w mulai jatuh cinta ma dya..gila bener-bener  gila cinta tiba tiba ja datang tanpa di undang. Akhirnya saat puncak acara dimulai. Siswa siswi baru di instruksikan oleh ketua MOPD untuk senam di lapangan. Di hari inilah w yakini perasaan w sendiri klo w benar-benar cinta ma dya and pengen miliki dya banget.

Klo ga salah tgl 22 juli 2007 pembagian jurusan untuk  siswa siswi baru SMK Arrahman. W penasaran banget si manjil masuk jurusan apa??? Akhirnya w cari tahu w dapet informasi ternyata dya masuk AK (akuntansi)..wah w kaget banget ternyata Emil yang  waktu SMP dulu yang pernah nembak w. tapi, w gak terima cintanya dya sekelas ma manjil berabeh ni urusan,!!!!” w takut rencana w pengen miliki manjil berantakan….

Legend of Bhagat Singh is a movie directed by Rajkumar Santhoshi which released in 2002. It starred Ajay Devgan as Bhagat Singh and he ultimately won the National Award for the best actor for living the role of the historic character. The beauty of the movie was that the facts were shown as they happened, sans any other unnecessary distorted deviations. This is because the script of the movie was validated by none other than Kultar Singh-the younger brother of Bhagat Singh. I remember we saw the movie in the open-air theatre of our hostel and after the emotional climax everybody had tears in their eyes. Even the other supporting actors playing the roles of Chandrashekhar Azad, Rajguru, Sukhdev etc did a fantastic job of it. It may have been providence that the movie was able to have some of the finest performances thereby paying a fitting tribute to the great martyr who sacrificed his life for the country.

Special mention must be of the eye-catching and appropriate sets used in the movie to depict the British Raj times (the cars, tongas, buildings) by art director Nitin Desai. The cinematography was also wonderful by K.V.Anand. One of the major factors for the success of many movies is the music-especially the background score and the Mozart of Madras-A.R.Rahman gave a masterful music score for this movie winning a National Award for the best background score. The songs of this movie too were splendid especially Desh Mere, Mera Rang De, Mahive, Jogiya and Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna (sung by Hariharan and Sonu Nigam!). All-in-all Legend of Bhagat Singh was an all-round good movie excelling in all the departments.

I was browsing through ARRahman.com and discovered that music for Blue is out. Yeah I’m late, as usual but it took me no time to realize that I’d have to listen to the music right away. As of this writing, I have no idea what this movie BLUE is about. But generally, for me, the movie has not much to do with the music in it, especially in case if it is by ARRahman. This belief came from the fact that there were his numbers that sound heavenly though they came from movies that impressed less; the latest one, Delhi-6 for example. More about ARRahman’s music in a separate post may be; this post intends to review music from BLUE.

The album has seven numbers in all.

1. Chiggy Wiggy- Kylie Minogue, Sonu Nigam & Suzanne; Lyrics: Abbas Tyrewala

A dance number (club probably) with a big name to sport – Kyile Minouge. While I was contemplating what ‘chiggy wiggy’ could mean, the song opens in English. If you have seen Kyile’s videos, you’d know before listening to this number what the expression would be like. But there is a twist in the story (mind you, it’s a Bollywood movie!). Out of nowhere, towards the middle of the song, you get to hear the Punjabi chorus say hoey! Its time for Indianization, enter Sonu Nigam in Hindi. Towards the end, it’s quite a number to dance to at a marriage party.
But I did not find this song any different than the number – ‘zara zara touch me touch me …’ (from the movie Race). That’s that.

2. Aaj Dil – Shreya Ghosal & Sukhwinder Singh; Lyrics: Mayur puri

Does it sound like Sukhwinder sing? Yeah it does. Neither the lyrics nor the tune or the music arrangement seemed to have a purpose. I did not find anything to talk about the song if not calling it just another number on the album.

3. Fiqrana- Vijay Prakash & Shreya Ghosal; Lyrics: Ajit Arora

The opening with the voice (is it called electronic modulating? I’m not sure of the term for this) did not quite sound like Rahman. The chorus gives a feeling of – dhakka laga bukka from Yuva but is far from its brilliance. The music arrangement sounded artificial and electronic. I somehow could not approve of any merit here.

4. Bhoola Tujhe – Rashid Ali; Lyrics: Abbas Tyrewala

I was waiting for this moment…to write about this glorious number. RashidAli – We have heard him sing before(Kabhi Kabhi Aditi & Kahin Toh Hogi Woh from Jaane tu..ya Jaane na) and it sure felt he had one of the best voices that ARRahman introduced to us. The number opens on a mellowing note, marked with simplicity. One doesn’t take much time to realize the sheer élan.
The song is beautiful for several reasons. For one, the mood - someone singing to his khuda (read god) as though they have been closely associated all the while. I would say Rahman has carved himself a niche in rendering grace to such numbers (dil se re, dil gira dafattan, rehna tu, maa tujhe salaam etc). Second reason – the simplicity in music arrangement and instrumentation – stress on the singing and the expression. Wow, I already fell in love with the song. Listened to it over ten times already!

5. Blue Theme – Blaaze, Raqeeb Alam, Sonu Kakkar, Jaspreet Singh, Neha Kakkar & Dilshad; Hindi Lyrics: Raqueeb Alam ; Punjabi Lyrics: Sukwinder Sing

The number starts with the casual – made-over-computer – sound. Though it doesn’t impress to begin with, there are a few elements that catch your attention. The chorus for one (bluooo and buloooo they say). The number might remind us of the Yuva theme again. I have always liked Blaaze as a part of Rahman’s troupe (Saathiya, Yuva, Rang de Basanti, Swades Sivaji, Slumdog Millionaire etc). Not a bad one, but I feel it won’t last long.

6. Rehnuma - Shreya Ghosal &,Sonu Nigam; Lyrics: Abbas Tyrewala

This is supposed to be a soul number. Probably one of those sung as seen at a restaurant. But the mood fades soon as it starts. I could not notice any theme there.:-( Did not interest me except for a few sounds that remind of the ‘James bond’ tune. Nothing more here.

7. Yaar Mila Tha – Udit Narayan, Madhusree, Ujjayinee Roy

This was a good one. Udit Narayan is great as ever. The song opens with a dance number style beat and chorus. Perhaps this is the only number on the album that had chorus that felt fitting. You’d want to follow the lyrics closely so that you won’t miss the story line that the song portrays. It’s a smooth duet I thought.

Over all, the album isn’t the stunning combination of lyrics and music that one would expect from an ARRahman creation. Yet, ‘Bhoola Tujhe’ would be one number from this album I would listen to for a long time to come.

The real test for any music composer is the ability to work with a full-fledged orchestra and create music by collaborating with them. Its a challenge because, any of these professional orchestras will have at least about 75 players playing instruments like violins, violas, cellos, flutes etc. There are very few composers in India have collaborated with orchestras abroad—Ilaiyaraja, A.R.Rahman, Yuvan and Sonu Nigam recently collaborated with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra for the Rafi Resurrected album.

Ilaiyaraja has collaborated with the Budapest Symphony orchestra of Hungary twice—once for composing for Guru (Malayalam movie) and the second time for Thiruvasagam in Symphony and I believe he is working with them again for Pazhassi Raja, a Malayalam film. A.R.Rahman has worked with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra of Czechoslovakia for Subhash Chandra Bose (fantastic songs with awesome orchestration). Yuvan worked with the Budapest orchestra for Pudhupettai. When we hear the songs of all these movies, you will find a totally different sound which is grand and all-encompassing. It is because the orchestras play the music live and this live recording is mixed with the singer’s voice later or sometimes it is done together. It’s a good change from the normal electronic sound we get to hear these days. Now, I am eagerly waiting with bated breath for the music of the magnum opus—Pazhassi Raja, starring Mammooty where Ilaiyaraja has again used the Budapest orchestra, am sure it will be worth the wait!

Sometimes a sparkling gem goes unnoticed in a sea of stones. Lately I had this desire to post about some songs which I thought were those unnoticed gems.

Firstly, my favourite of all times. It has still not conceded the no.1 spot in my player even after more than a year of its release. ‘Mann Mohana’ from Jodhaa Akbar. According to me it should be amongst  Rahman’s best works. He takes  the bhajan to a completely new level with the sound arrangements. The orchestration and flute interludes are completely fabulous when combined with Meera bhajan type simple yet deep lyrics.  I wonder why such a great song received really less attention from the ‘media’ world too. I understand it is a religious song and comparatively slow for the current generation, but still it could have heralded a revolution for the Hindu spiritual music Industry.. I also have a hunch that it is Rahman’s favourite track from the album too considering how ubiquitously he has used the very same interludes and music arrangements as background score in the movie. Takes the scene to a whole new level.

Continuing with Rahman, ‘Shauk Hai’ from Guru (Yes that’s right from Guru. Don’t try to look it up in the album CDs as it won’t be found there!) is  another brilliant masterpiece. It is a pity this wasn’t released with the main audio track of the movie. If you do remember this is the song that plays in the background for all the  scenes involving Vidya Balan in the movie. Simple, yet hautingly melodious yet not sad, the lyrics convey the need for more in spite of disabilities, exactly giving voice to the character essayed by Vidya in the movie. The piano always at the background from the very beginning of the track, is really simple, sounding great with Sowmya Raoh’s voice (She adds this sensual touch after every ‘Shauk Hai ohhhh’ which is simply awesome!), leaving you asking for more. Sometimes something simple is very beautiful, and Rahman has captured the mood of the situation perfectly without overdoing anything.

Without taking up much space another one from Rahman’s bag is Aahista Aahista from Swades. I would say it is a modern day adaptation of a lori (song for making someone go to sleep peacefully), fitted with interesting interludes and again simple piano background running throughout. Completely encompassing your soul when you listen to this before you sleep!

The last song that I want to talk about is not from A.R.Rahman which is a bit surprising to myself. It is ‘Paayalia’ from Dev D. I wouldn’t say it is an awesome song or amazing song, but definitely different from the run-of-the-mill stuff. Considering the instruments used and the voice of the singer, it definitely an experiment by Amit Heri, an experiment which is gone really well. Using the veena, some tinkles of bells, and the special ‘By God’ touch at places you least expect (and by not repeating it everywhere!), the shehnai and scores of other instruments with a completely unconventional tune and voice, the song makes an impact and gives repeatability to it. It’s different and stands out.

It wouldn’t be a crime to once listen to these numbers if you are listening to the same stuff daily! Well I listen to these everyday!
