Sabem aquela musica do Just Jack? “I got this writer’s block, it comes as quite a shock” Pois entao, essa sou eu. Sei que assuntos nunca se esgotam, mas eu me esgoto de ter o que falar as vezes. Esse eh o problema do blog: a necessidade de escrever o tempo todo; ainda mais quando nao se eh daquelas que postam foto de fim de semana com a amiga ou o aniversario do afilhado. Afinal, ninguem tem “LHUFAS” a ver coma minha vida. Estou devendo um post porem, sobre a entrevista com o Scott, do Sartorialist, mas estou esperando as fotos da producao ate hoje! Poxa, post sem foto pra provar que eh verdade nao vale. Soh posso dizer que ando ouvindo muito “It’s Blitz” do Yeah Yeah Yeahs, melhor disco do ano ate agora na minha humilde opiniao. E, Karen O esta se tornando tardiamente a minha “musa do rock”.  Quando vi esse clipe, pensei: Caralho como ela ta foda nesse clipe. Exoticamente linda, com uma roupa incrivel andando pelas ruas de Nova Yorke, minha cidade preferida, cenario perfeito musica perfeita.

Nao sei se eh noticia velha ou nao, mas “roubei” (no bom sentido, ja que esse post eh sobre roubo) essa foto do Facebook de um amigo meu. O relativismo no qual a lei as vezes se faz valer me deixa puta, acho o FIM da PICADA em portugues bem claro o tratamento diferenciado que eh dado para os “ricos e famosos” nao soh nesse pais como nos Estados Unidos. “Rich and famous” ou nao, Wynona tambem roubou, celptomaniaca ou nao, ela roubou. Vamos protestas pelo G20, que tal? Tem gente indo para as ruas em Londres para lutar por condicoes melhores para todos os paises, pagamento de dividas, H-E-L-L-OOOOOOO. Por que nao fazemos camisetas FREE BRAZIL? FREE AFRICA? FREE JAMAICA?

O pior de tudo,  eh ter que ouvir o papo: …No Brasil tem tanta gente assaltando, matando e prendem ela….Para essas pessoas, eu digo: eh por causa de gente como Eliana que tem neguinho assaltando e matando por ai. Se essas pessoas ficam impunes e a lei nao se aplica a elas a revolta eh ainda maior e a conclusao a seguinte: a gente pode roubar tambem. Mas ai eh que ta, pobre nao pode roubar porque vai preso, rico pode. A pior sensacao que se pode sentir eh a de impotencia, quando nos damos conta de que nao podemos fazer nada a respeito isso gera frustacao e revolta. Sera que ninguem ve, percebe que eh esse tipo de situacao que faz o Brasil ser o que eh? Sou soh eu ne… acho que sim.

Been having the runs for the past week liao… OMG. It all started with this greedy face:

Have always loved Sashimi so I had a feast of it last week and now what, poor running stomach every few hours. (At least it’s not tt bad la, thank goodness).

Took some Imodium to prevent the runs. Will see doctor soon to find out the root cause.

What’s with that big HooHa on the local news a couple of days back? Was $0.02 so significant that it was the headlines? It was such a ‘big news’ that other newsworthy report had to come after it…

Honestly, i  find it ridiculous that the people behind this transport cost ‘dip’ think that a 2 cents is going to make much of a difference. Let me give you MY 2 cents worth:

In this current economy, 2 cents is nothing. Would you pick up even a 5 cent on the floor? I dun think most of us would, cos maybe we’re too lazy to bend our backs or maybe cos we have more then enough 5 cents in our pockets. Let’s not talk about “a small amount goes a loongg way” and all that jazz cos i know and you know that if public transport is such an important aspect of a Singaporean’s daily life, the ‘magnanimous’ and ‘genourous’ price ‘dip’ should be more than this… (don’t you think so?)

Let’s face it: 2 cents is nothing and it really had ought to be more than that. Being almost the monopoly public transport provider (maybe ‘oligopoly’ sounds more fair) the company would have made profits for years prior to this biggest economic downturn the world has yet experienced, so isn’t it time to cut a little more than $0.02 during this time of economic crisis? Just search your generous hearts… I besiege you.

Outro dia, numa pizzaria, o assunto “Big Brother” surgiu e o meu maior questionamento era: Como as pessoas ainda se interessam por esse programa? Deve ser a decima edicao no Brasil e o sucesso soh parece aumentar cada vez mais. Varios argumentos me foram apresentados na tal mesa da pizzaria como: eh a fofoca do vizinho soh que na televisao, eh uma “novela” da vida dos outros, da muito dinheiro, etc etc etc Mas eu nao entendo como o Big Brother ainda possa ser tao popular…Sei que as pessoas nao querem novidade na televisao, que elas assistem porcaria e coisas de qualidade ao mesmo tempo mas, sera que uma hora nao cansa? Coitada de mim, e de quem concorda comigo, porque nao se evita o “Big Brother” ne? NAO adianta tentar nao ficar a par do que esta acontecendo porque  eh noticia de primeira pagina em todos os sites, todas as pessoas FALAM nisso, e eu, que corro e desvio o olhar para nao ler nada sobre a fatalidade da existencia deste programa acabo sendo engolida por 3 meses ( acho que essa a duracao desse “reality show”) nesse universo. Eu NAO QUERO saber de “Big Brother”. Nao FALEM comigo sobre fulano X ou ciclano Y eu nao sei e nem quero saber quem sao essas pessoas!

Nao sou uma pessoa engajada, adoro fofoca e falar besteira, mas a cultura televisiva brasileira me da enjoo. Dai, eu fico como o que a minha mae chama de “NERD”: 60% do meu dia no computador, baixando seriados americanos. Eh SOH o que eu assisto, ue. Ah, eu vou ao cinema tambem. E obviamente, vejo Sony e Warner na hora do almoco. Assumo que eh tao pessimo quanto ser viciado em “Big Brother” e se existisse um Pay-Per -View de Grey’s Anatomy eu JURO que eu pagaria. A ficcao eh muuuuuuuito mais legal do que a realidade. A ficcao eh honesta, eh bonita de se ver, eh poetica, eh subjetiva, eh apaixonante….Eu quero ter a vida desses personagens, a vida deles eh muito mais interessante que a minha! Eu la quero ver a vida do fulando W que ta naquela casa no Projac? AFFFFFFFFFF Existem roteiristas FUDIDOS de bom escrevendo capitulos que vao realmente me emocionar e eu vou perder tempo com o Bial?????

Lembrei domingo porque odeio premiacoes. Ha muito tempo eu desisti delas pra assistir soh ao tapete vermelho… Afinal, eh a parte mais legal! Ver todos os atores, diretores e afins chegando impecaveis pra premiacao eh impagavel. Maquiagem, vestido, namorado/a novo /a, biquinho pra foto..Divertidissimo.

OLHA SO QUANTO BOM HUMOR.

Para a minha infelicidade, no auge do entretenimento PUFFFFF comeca o evento – aiii troco de canal. As pessoas tem que entender uma coisa muito simples: se voce NAO eh artista e NAO esta efetivamente concorrendo a alguma coisa, premiacao EH UM PORRE. Eu, pessoalmente, me sinto enrolada. Sabe? Quando ta na cara que alguem ta te enrolando com aquele papinho e mesmo assim voce ta la, firme, ouvindo, sem nem mesmo saber por que? Acredite, nao eh que eu sou discrente e ignorante ao ponto de quando vou alugar um filme uma indicacaozinha em Cannes nao vai contar na minha escolha final, nao. Taaaanto eh que,  depois que eu vi quem foram os ganhadores do Globo de Ouro na internet fui la e  baixei John Adams Parte 1 (porque se for uma droga, nao perco tempo nem espaco no meu HD).

Eu AMO televisao, assim como musica, nao conseguiria viver sem. Seriado americano entao, meu favorito. Assisto tudo, ate episodio repetido, de How I Met Your Mother a Prison Break. Mas, fico me perguntando se algum seriado tem merito suficiente para ganhar em TODAS as categorias em uma premiacao. (?) Tem? Talvez tenha, The Prisioner – a previa do que um dia seria entao o Big Brother e Lost. Friends – porque eh genial mesmo e popularizou as series de tv amercianas em si no mundo todo. Seinfeld – classico da comedia e ironia americana. 30 Rock- NAO. Nao. Nao…e Nao. Tina, WE LOVE YOU but NO, YOU CANT.

SERIE DE TV INGLESA DE 1960.

Best Television Series? Best Actress in A Television Series?A primeira com certeza nao vale, a segunda talvez. Alec Baldwin se ainda nao ganhou nenhum Globo de Ouro na vida, tudo bem, Best Actor ele ja deve ter sido mesmo. Agora, Melhor Serie? Mesmo? Jura? “Tipo assim”… me senti enrolada. Sabe quem deveria ganhar alguma coisa desse seriado???? Ele se chama Jack McBrayer, o secretario / faz-tudo / peao de obra / em ingles o “page” Kenneth da NBC. Um dos poucos nao-amigos do SNL de Tina Fey, ele eh a razao e unico motivo pelo qual paro 45 minutos pra assistir 30 Rock. Ele foi considerado “Breakout Star” do seriado, e por mais impossivel que pareca ele eh bem parecido com o personagem na vida real. O sotaque eh dele mesmo, ele tambem vem de uma cidade minuscula na Georgia, soh que ele eh bemmmm mais timido. Talvez Jack vire Kenneth pra sempre, como Jason Alexander virou George Constanza. E se virar, nao vai ser nenhum problema pra ele -  muito menos pra sua carreira.

Por essa e outras obviedades, as premiacoes servem quase que soh para dar mais status e poder a industria televisiva e cinematografica do que realmente para premiar alguma coisa. Isso nao eh novidade, e, salvas algumas excessoes como Heath Ledger  e o papel mais incrivel da sua carreira em Batman, quase nao vale a pena NEM a graca toda do tapete vermelho.

esses ultimos dias nao tem sido muito inspiradores para mim, estou com amidalite E faringite ao mesmo tempo e nem sabia que era possivel ter os dois. enfim, to de cama, cansada de nao fazer nada, de bode da TV e do computador.

A funny local news story also… Two boys were arrested for playing with fireworks and car battery acid during the early hours of last night. One was charged and the other was let off!

Two for the price of one today as they are a couple of short ones. Good things and small packages though I think. Hope you like them.

Adverts. Yes, pretty much all adverts. Some are funny and/or feature good music so I can live with them but the others I cannot stand.

In particular the Cillit Bang or Safestyle windows genre. The ones full of shouting, annoying men. Why is that necessary? What about a fat grubby bearded man makes someone want to buy windows? And as far as Barry Scott goes all I want to do is drown him in his Cillit Bang!

Then there are the finance adverts. Just employ some real actors, because watching Julian try to explain the process in a stilted northern accent while he grins inanely at the camera just makes me switch over! I really cannot bear them!!!!!

The other thing I hate is when you’re watching one of the big programmes, like ER or Lost or the like. The ones with the sponsors. You get the start, the intro part where they tease you with what’s happening in the episode and then the credits roll and then… advert. The programme is barely 5 minutes old and they’re already selling you wine. Ridiculous.

I could rant on but I wont. I will spare you the diatribe.

A school banned the making of Mother’s Day cards as they did not want to offend the 5% of pupils who had no contact with their mothers. The head mistress claimed it was in the interests of “sensitivity”.

What utter crap!

I remember the times at school I spent ages cutting paper daffodils and glueing them, and myself, to a thick piece of card along with old bits of wall paper to take it home along with my brother and sisters to present 4, pretty much identical, cards to my Mum. Was she grateful? I presume so. I know I like getting Fathers Day cards.

Should we ban Easter eggs in sympathy for those allergic to chocolate? Or so as not to offend fat people? We could ban hair extensions because it’s kind of like rubbing bald peoples faces in it. Let’s get rid of ear phones so we don’t upset deaf people, or better yet we should just veto sound. Let’s be really quiet so they don’t think they’re missing anything. Although, they may think we are taking the piss so…. it’s a tricky one.

Am I meant to feel guilty when I walk past someone in a wheelchair? Is it age-ist to walk quicker than an old person? Am I allowed to kiss my wife in public or is it a tacit admission of homophobia? We should ban hopscotch and blind mans bluff from schools because I’m sure all the amputees and blind folk would be royally cheesed off. The list is endless. I would say we should all stay indoors and say nothing but that’d be a red rag to the Claustrophobic Mute lobbyists. I apologise to any colour blind readers for the “red rag” quip by the way.

I got an application form this morning from a soon to be graduate. It was OK, what you’d expect really, though he is aiming for a 2:1 in Tourism! Is it necessary to study to be a tourist these days? What do you learn in a Tourism class? How to speak slowly and loudly to the natives while reading from a small book?

On top of that he doesn’t even have the simplest amount of common sense to keep his mouth shut on an application form.
