HolyJunkie, a familiar face in the Halo webcomic ring, has been keeping himself busy with a project involving everybody’s favorite dual laser-wielding ODST. While he’s gotten pretty far on his ODS Steve fan art drawing, he currently finds himself stumped on where exactly he should place Steve location-wise. Dark city? Dark City? Not-so-dark city? Not city? The man is formally requesting feedback so give him what he wants already! I’m thinking sans armor next to a warm, inviting fire with some Marvin Gaye playing softly in the background, but maybe that’s just me.

Fuck that Modern Warfare business. The next big game is Halo: Reach and it’s about time your portable telephone displayed that. Thankfully Halcylon, your source for all things cellular phone-related, is here to do your bidding. Last time he tackled the Blackberry but this time it’s all about the iPhone. Creating a detailed yet clean image, this gorgeous Halo: Reach wallpaper comes ready to serve as your mobile background. Download it. Love it.

With the constant tease of a Halo movie hovering over our heads, you would be hard-pressed to find a fellow gaming fanatic that hasn’t envisioned that particular project becoming a reality. Some people enjoy debating what actors should portray the various characters from our favorite virtual universe while others discuss the finer points of the episodic story line. Halcylon, who is more than a little adept in the art of Photoshop, prefers the lesser-used medium of movie posters. Stuck with a serious bout of Halo 3: ODST on the brain, he created an image of the romantically involved Buck and Dare featuring the likenesses of their applicable voice actors (Nathan Fillion and Tricia Helfer respectively). I think there’s only one thing you can say after soaking in the awesomeness that is this picture. I’ll give you a hint: it rhymes with -blam- said Slim Shady.

After exploring every last corner of the Halo universe, it’s easy to get into the mindset of thinking you know everything there is to know about Master Chief. What the video games and books don’t tell you though is the random things that happen to our favorite Spartan supersoldier when he isn’t knee-deep in Covenant attackers. Luckily the whimsical bildinabubble, the same creative soul who guided you through a visual journey of Master Chief’s early years, is here to show you some of his more lighthearted adventures as well. The decor during my impressionable teenage years consisted primarily of the extremely defiant and irresistable Andre Agassi slathered across the entirety of my previously pristine ceiling (don’t judge!). While my dreams were always incredibly sweet, I have a feeling the owner of this Spartan supersoldier-adorned bedroom often finds a series of intense battle-filled scenes dominating his sleeping hours. Within this room an amazing Halo-themed mural calls an entire wall home and features Master Chief kneeling in front of Warthog wreckage while being pursued by Transformer-esque Scarabs. Created by Arbitor1337, it took him well over sixty hours to finish this sight. Get it, finish this sight? Believe it or not, that little gem of a line only took me about two hours to come up with. Yup, I’m that good.

Flickr user infinitecontinues, who doubles as an artist at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, felt inspired after viewing a series of movie posters for minimalists and thus found the motivation to create a similar series, this one focused on video games. In his own words, “This is an exploration of how a few key shapes from well-loved characters are instantly recognisable even when reduced to these simple forms.” Out of eleven total, how many of these characters born in the video game universe can you readily identify? And if you get one wrong, don’t fret. We won’t point and laugh at you while your hard-earned gamer cred vanishes right in front of your very eyes. Promise!

If you have ever wondered where video games come from, a gorgeous series of photographs by Marc Da Cunha Lopes “shows us the factory work behind the most iconic games of the past few decades.” I would list the specific title each image is captured from but seriously, if you can’t figure it out for yourself you shouldn’t be allowed to call yourself a gamer. Yeah, I went there! Prove your prowess in the comments by outing each game. Assuming you can that is.

Every year a city that calls itself the home of many leading scientific and cultural institutions also finds itself the gracious host to hundreds of traditional and nontraditional artists alike. Coming together for an annual event called The Pasadena Chalk Festival, an entire weekend is devoted to the creation of masterpieces formed solely from small sticks of calcium sulfate. These chalky works of art, which sometimes take 20-plus hours to complete, are usually more classic in nature but this year a familiar Spartan supersoldier found himself the proud owner of a prime piece of sidewalk for the entirety of the weekend. That Master Chief, he sure knows how to get around!

Master Chief is a 6′7″ tall cybernetically enhanced supersoldier. In his full attire he weighs in at approximately 1,000 pounds but have you ever wondered what exactly is hanging out under all that MJOLNIR armor? Between the muscular enhancement injections and the sheer strength needed to meet the demands of the heavy suit, I would say that graphic-muscle’s rather ripped version of our favorite Spartan is probably more than a little accurate. Or maybe I just like thinking it is. Regardless, feel free to enjoy the full-size picture after the jump. I know I certainly have. Multiple times as a matter of fact.

I have a thing for Halo 3 screenshots. While I can’t take one worth a darn, I definitely appreciate them more than the average person. I don’t discriminate either. I love scenic screenshots, I love inappropriate screenshots, I love special effects screenshots, and I even fancy some Forge art every now and again. My passion runs so deep that I have an entire website dedicated just to those Halo 3-related images. That is why when I heard about haloscreenshots.com, a new site offering to turn those images into tangible pieces of art, I was more than a little excited. Sure, you’ve always been able to print your screenshots off yourself but the process is not a simple one and quality is typically lacking. Now, with a few simple clicks of your mouse, you can have somebody else do all the work for you. Let me tell you, laziness pays off sometimes.

The second I noticed that site, I began debating which screenshot I would order. The question wasn’t whether or not to make a purchase, it was simply a matter of deciding which particular one to buy. I finally opted to go with my highest rated screenshot, which also happens to be my favorite. While I typically forgo framing in circumstances such as these, I opted for that service because again, I’m lazy. I was concerned because often times the frame ends up being ridiculously cheap and not at all attractive, but that was certainly not the case this time around. When my print arrived, encased by a gorgeous custom frame crafted from premium wood stock, I was really quite impressed. From the frame (and the detailing on the back) to the matte to the print itself, everything was of the utmost quality. Prices seem expensive at first glance (framed prints start at $44.99) but once the product is in your hands, it is worth every cent and then some.

While transforming your screenshots into actual pieces of art does not come cheap (although keep in mind you can buy a print without a frame for only $16.99), it’s a great opportunity to indulge in some artwork to adorn your otherwise bare gaming room walls. It’s also an amazing gift idea for the Halo fanatic in your life as well. I recently purchased a framed print for a friend and upon opening his present he said, “This is so awesome! I could just do you right now!” Now that I think about it, I don’t even know if that comment was related to the gift. But I’m sure it played a part in there somewhere. The moral of the story? Buy a print, get some action. Or something like that.

The Last Supper is iconic with its depiction of the Twelve Apostles’ reactions when Jesus announced that a betrayal from one of them was imminent, but have you ever thought of what that image would look like if the religious elements were replaced with characters born in our beloved Halo universe? Halcylon did, and he was able to make his vision a reality with a little assistance from Photoshop. While I enjoy feasting my eyes upon beautiful pieces of Halo-themed artwork, I more enjoy having them as my desktop for easy access purposes so I asked him for a variety of wallpaper sizes and he kindly acquiesced. Feel free to snag the size of your liking to adorn your internet surfing device. Just make sure it can handle large amounts of awesome first.

If I had a family member (who was a Halo fanatic) that was getting married to a beautiful girl (who also happened to be a Halo fanatic), I would not attempt to paint them a video game-themed piece of art. Primarily because I don’t have an artistic bone in my body but also because I would be too busy attempting to steal that cool ass chick away for myself. Craig is clearly not me though because he forwent the significant other stealing and instead dipped straight into the painting. As a special wedding gift for his wife’s cousin, Craig painted Master Chief with a bow tie and Cortana in the fiancé’s likeness and then placed the finished product in a custom frame. I’d like to make a comment on how amazing, special, and thoughtful this gift truly is except I can’t stop staring at the bewbs.
