Quels billets n'avez-vous pas encore lus ?

Il peut être utile de disposer d’une liste de tous les articles de son blog, par exemple pour réaliser un sommaire ou un index.

Si comme moi vous êtes sur WordPress.com et que vous ne pouvez installer aucun plugin, il va falloir le faire “à la mano”.

Oui mais comment ? Où trouver la liste de tous ses articles ? … Et bien dans vos stats Askimet !

Comme je m’autorise à vous proposer quelques tutos de temps en temps (pour des choses les plus basiques), je me suis dit que cette création du sommaire que je proposais avant de partir en vacances était une expérience (modeste) que je pouvais partager.

Voyons comment procéder…

Étape I. Récupérer une liste de ses articles

1. Comme je l’ai dit, nous allons utiliser les statistiques fournies par Askimet (puisque, étant sur la plate-forme hébergée par WordPress.com, nous n’avons rien d’autre à nous mettre sous la dent). Bon, j’imagine que je n’ai pas besoin de vous préciser où les trouver, n’est-ce pas ?

Allez, pour faire correctement ce pas-à-pas, allons-y tout de même : Tableau de bord > Statistiques du blog

La page de stats ne vous est sans doute pas étrangère...

Là le magnifique graphique que vous contemplez fiévreusement tous les soirs (ou tous les matins ? ou 15 fois par jour ? non, ne me dites pas 50 !)… ne vous est d’aucune utilité.

Ne vous laissez pas distraire (et surtout pas par la preuve ci-dessus de mes maigres récoltes) et ne perdons pas de vue notre objectif : il nous faut une liste d’articles.

2. Pour cela, cliquez sur Articles et pages les plus consultés. Vos stats apparaissent classées par jour.

3. Sélectionnez parmi les durées proposées la période qui couvre celle dont vous voulez extraire une liste d’articles. Comme mon site n’est ouvert (au moment de mes captures d’écran) que depuis deux mois, je me suis contentée de “Trimestre”, mais vous préférerez peut-être “Toute la durée”, selon vos besoins.

4. Copiez le tableau.

Étape II : Nettoyer le tableau des statistiques dans un traitement de texte

5. Ouvrez votre traitement de texte et collez votre sélection.

Celle-ci est automatiquement identifiée comme un tableau.

6. Supprimez les deux colonnes inutiles (les chiffres et les icônes de stats) :

7. Convertissez le tableau en texte. Lorsque la palette flottante s’ouvre, choisissez “marques de paragraphe“.

8. Copiez le texte.

9. Retournez dans WordPress et créez un nouveau billet.

10. Collez la sélection.

A priori, même en passant ainsi par Word, le code que vous collez est “propre” (pas de code inutile qui viendrait perturber l’affichage de votre page). De toute manière, un éditeur de texte brut ne vous permettrait pas de conserver puis supprimer les deux colonnes : les chiffres et icônes dont j’ai parlé précédemment seraient donc à retirer ligne par ligne !

11. Supprimez le “titre”

Vous avez maintenant une liste d’articles. Ce n’est pas fini !

Étape III. Agencer et compléter sa liste

12. Composez votre liste dans l’ordre de votre choix.

Eh oui, c’est le défaut de cette méthode manuelle : la seule pertinence du résultat à ce stade est l’audience des billets. Sans doute souhaiterez-vous l’organiser différemment, classer les entrée selon vos rubriques, ou toute autre manière qui aura du sens pour les visiteurs de votre blog.

13. Complétez les titres tronqués.

Askimet ne retient que les 40 premiers caractères du lien. Vous devrez donc compléter vos titres. C’est là que vous prendrez conscience que vos titres sont trop longs (car des titres courts sont plus efficaces) !

Vous aurez remarqué que l’ajout des lettres manquantes à la fin du titre ne les intègre pas dans le lien. Une astuce pour ne pas avoir à recréer le lien : positionnez donc votre curseur avant le dernier caractère, saisissez ce qui manque en ressaisissant cette dernière lettre, puis supprimez son doublon qui a été “poussé” à la fin.

14. Ajoutez les billets qui n’apparaissent pas dans vos stats.

Méfiez-vous, certains billets n’auront peut-être reçu aucune visite. Il vous faudra donc vérifier si votre liste est complète, et éventuellement rajouter les notes manquantes une par une.

15. Finalisez votre billet.

Voilà, votre sommaire est prêt à l’emploi. A vous d’ajouter les commentaires, informations et titres qui vont bien. Si vous voulez voir un exemple, consultez l’article “Quels billets n’avez-vous pas encore lus” qui récapitule les publications de ce blog au 10 octobre 2009.

Cette méthode est hélas un peu fastidieuse, mais elle a le mérite de récupérer (quasiment toute) la liste de vos articles, et surtout avec les liens !

Si vous êtes plus exigeant(e), et bien, passez sur un blog WordPress auto-hébergé : vous aurez à votre disposition des tas de plugins pour produire un index automatique de vos articles.

Cegah Spam dengan askimet

Seperti dibahas dalam posting sebelumnya tentang bahaya spam akan kelangsungan SEO dan reputasi sebuah blog atau web site, disini akan dibahas mengenai pencegahan spam dengan menggunakan Askimet, khusunya pada web blog yang menggunakan WordPress sebagai engine nya. Dalam setiap distribusinya biasanya WordPress telah dlengkapi dengan Askimet plugins, jadi secara default plugins tersebut telah terinstall saat WordPress diinstallkan.

Hal yang perlu dilakukan adalah mengaktifkan plugins tersebut melalui Dashboard dari Blog Administrator Pannel, caranya klik menu Plugins, kemudian sub menu Installed, cari baris Askimet dan klik link Activate, setelah hal tersebut dilakukan maka Askimet plugins pun telah aktif dan siap di konfigurasi untuk menangkal spamers.

Hal lain yang perlu diperhatikan adalah untuk dapat menggunakan plugins tersebut, dibutuhkan sebuah Application key (api key) yang bisa di dapatkan dari wordpress.com, syaratnya harus menjadi member dari wordpress.com terlebih dahulu, jadi silahkan lakukan registrasi jika belum memiliki account di wordpress.com. Jika telah memiliki account hal yang aharus dilakukan untuk mendapatkan api key tersebut adalah dengan login ke wordpress.com kemudian masuk ke My Account, dan klik sub menu Edit Profile pada Dashboard. dan api key pun telah ada dibagian atas dari detail profile tersebut.

Setelah mendapatkan api key segeralah kembali ke Dashboard blog administrator, klik menu Plugins, dan klik sub menu Askimet Configurations, Masukan Api Key yang telah didapatkan kedalam input box yang tersedia, selanjutnya klik tombol Update Option untik menyimpan api key tersebut. Setelah semua proses selesai maka askimet pun telah bekerja secara realtime untuk memisahkan spam dan non-spam yang ada pada komentar blog tersebut.

Mid-terms are upon us it seems.
Not hard per-se,  but difficult to keep focused on things you know when you read them.
Hopefully everything goes okay.

Also, I’ve been playing Scribblenauts and Kingdom Hearts 365/2 Days.
Scribblenauts is amazing.
I hadn’t been anticipating it, but someone said I should play it, so I did.
It’s just so random and hilarious.
I love how everything is made to look like paper,
How it’s easy, but with enough difficult parts and little extras to make it interesting,
And how many hilarious things you can create.

Kingdom Hearts on the other hand,
I was very excited for,
Unfortunately,
It has yet to meet expectations.
People I know who have played it said it was good,
But I haven’t yet seen this.
It will probably pick up,
But so far it’s going the same direction as Kingdom Hearts 2.

Cut scene after cut scene after cut scene, with very little game play in between.
It’s really frustrating.

I also re-watched AVPM, and downloaded the soundtrack.
While I love that there are no screaming fans in the soundtrack,
The words they ‘changed’ and the mostly acoustic nature leaves me more inclined to listen to the scenes instead.
I like that they are more powerful and…musical-y….
I don’t know, they seem to have more spirit I guess is what I mean.

Anyway.
It was really entertaining.
My roommate thinks I’m even more insane than she had originally realized, however,
But I don’t mind.

I like Dumbledore’s ending in the musical better than the book I think.
Yep.

Yay! Vagueness to avoid spoilers.
I’m insane.

I am also quite sad because the auto-spam blocker for this site won’t let me see anything it blocks.

Over the last few months I have had the pleasure of working on the Authority Domains blog, which is hosted by us. We use WordPress.org. I have had a number of messages asking me which plugins to use. With there be literally hundreds to choose from, many that have the same functionality, it can be hard to choose. The following list are the ones we have had luck with. Frankly, it was all trial and error. Some plugins work better with certain templates. So remember, these plugins work great with our template, but may not work as splendid with yours.

“How to” Install Plugins

1. Download plugin and save to your computer.
2. Open the zipped folder.
3. Click “extract all files”
4. Upload files or folder to “wp-content/plugins” on your “remote server” via FTP on FileZilla.
5. In WordPress Dashboard, click on “Plugins”
6. Click on “Activate” to enable each plugin.
7. Follow any specific instructions on how to use each plugin (this is important).

I tried to give credit to the original creators of these plugins, so to give credit where credit is due- I want to hear your favorite plugins. Have at it in the comments section. I hope this blog helped provide a beacon of direction in a world overrun with a great many useless WordPress plugins.

- Mặc dù đã sử dụng các plugin như All in one SEO, Google Sitemap và sử dụng công cụ Webmaster của Google nhưng với một blog mới, việc xuất hiện trong danh sách tìm kiếm của google hơi bị khó và cần có thời gian. “Những lúc như thế này tôi dùng…wordpress.com ” (xém chút lộn qua quảng cáo sigum CoolAir !) như một cách trung gian để tiếp cận với google. Tôi nhận thấy mỗi bài viết của tôi trên WordPress.com đều xuất hiện khi tìm kiếm bằng Google ! Looking for your API key?

Ever since I’ve had a blog, I’ve been getting comment spam. Not so much on this particular blog, as it’s not hosted on its own domain, but particularly my new site, www.ridehard.co.uk is getting a fair share of it. Apart from the standard comments just consisting of a whole lot of random characters, lately some different ones have been coming along. Now I’m not sure if this is something new, or if other bloggers have already been facing this other type of spam…

Comments usually consist of some reference, attempting to pretend-socialise with the blogger “hey man, …) and then go on to ask some weird and totally unrelated question. Quite ridiculous ones as well such as “what’s the best way to combat a hangover?” Not sure why these spammers think that this type of spam comment will go unnoticed…

All I can say is, assuming it’s an automated script, wouldn’t it make more sense to have topic related questions posted to a blog of the same topic?

Well whatever they’re trying to do, I’m just glad Askimet is doing such a great job at filtering out these bullshit comments….

They don’t get it and here on WordPress they can’t touch me. I love it. They sure try but on my other blog they have been stopped cold. On my other blog, Askimet has stopped over 20,655 spam posts. I love Askimet.

War es nur ein Traum in dem ich über einem verlassenen Grenzpfosten gestolpert bin. Die Schmerzen in meinem Knie sind doch so real wie die Inschrift im Stein:

Die Tagebuch-Software von WordPress ist auf meinem Web Space installiert und natürlich werde ich meine Erfahrung über Zensur, die Texte unter Privacy  stellt und von dem Schreiberling erst mal vermutet werden muß.

Es gibt Dinge im Netz, die mir deutlich sagen, dass das was möglich ist auch zur Anwendung kommt, auch ohne dass man es uns vorher ankündigt,

Second, I’d like to thank my readership for coming day after day to find out how to tie The Dimple in your tie. You’re the best. The Dimple, It’s a Tiebreaker… has had the most hits of any of my posts. It’s one of my favorites, too. Unfortunately, neckties.com took that link down. So, I’m going to give you their instructions here. Now. I don’t wear ties — often — but I buy ties, and I love looking at all the funky ties they have at their site.

Many people have a doubt regarding this question about a do-follow and no-follow blog. Well in my past research i looked into this matter and got some interesting information about them.

Generally a new blogger will make as many blogs as possible as it genuinely helps in SERPs and attracts a reasonable amount of traffic towards the website or blog. But not each and every blogs are crawled by search engines.

There are 2 types of blogs. One having a “Do-Follow” in their tags and the other obviously as i have explained earlier a “No-Follow” in their pages.

The “Do-Follow” blogs generally are blogs that are crawled by search engines like Google, Yahoo, etc. The below theory will help you to understand it better.

In the early days of blogging, many unwanted spammers were abusing the commenting pages of these blogs with their yuck links, and indirectly trying to promote their sites. To combat such an issue, Google started implementing the “No-Follow” tags in its index. Furthermore, this “No-Follow” tag was soon grasped by WordPress.com (one of the most user-friendly free blogging website). The people at wordpress starting implementing the same strategy while running their scripts in their commenting page. Basically what it means is that the URL’s posted in the commenting pages are not considered by search engines like Google.com and also these urls are not approved by google in their page rank theory. The thinking behind this was this step would resist spammers from posting yucky commenting URLs on blogs.

Was it worth It ?? Well, as per the spamming (which was over 7000) on one of my blog is concerned, it reflects that this did not seem to work as my blog commenting page are “No-Followed”.

What was worth it is this Askimet SPAM plug-in in wordpress.

But unfortunately, the “no follow” tag did have one unforeen result. Genuine commentors that had placed legitimate comments on various blogs were also not permited from doing this because they were not receiving any “link juice” from their commenting, either.

There is known to be a movement from various blogging websites and also search engines to allow the “Do-Follow” tags only and restraining the “No-Follow” tags to encourage people to post comments on the blogs. In wordpress, there is a option to turn off the “No-Follow” tag by a given plugin.

By advertising and promoting your blog as a “Do-Follow” tagged blog, you will surely grab the attention of others posters to leave their comments on your blog.

So according to me, its well advised to promote your blog site on “Do-Follow” tagged blogs as it generally extracts more traffic and encourages others to leave comments on them.

I uploaded a phpinfo file to the server and checked it for “mod_rewrite” entries. Having found none, I contacted DreamHost support and asked them to activate it for me. I got a prompt response. Very polite. I love this hosting company. They told me I also needed a wildcard DNS entry which they took care of for me. They also pointed me to their wiki on WordPress MU installations.

I sure hope that JJ in support also set up “a wildcard ServerAlias entry” like it says to ask for in the wiki. JJ’s email only mentioned the wildcard DNS entry. We’ll see if that ends up being a problem.

I have yet to create a new user account to see if the subdomain.bevvy.org gets created automagically. Right now I am looking into anti-spam plugins for WPMU. There’s Askimet and Dave’s Spam Karma. I have seen mentions of activating the backend and leaving it deactivated. The activation of the backend, I assume would allow the plugin settings to be passed through to each blog user’s blog. I’m all for giving options but sometimes less choice makes for a smoother operation.

I will also be installing some sort of CAPTCHA for WPMU. I have to be mindful that any plugin I hear about must have a WPMU counterpart. If not, things will break.

One thing I am unclear about at this point is how I enable people to sign up and begin creating their own blog/user page from an index page. Requiring Admin approval is a good safe guard. Right now the only “new user” creation option is in the Site Admin section of the Administrator’s account. I want one front and center on the main page. Perhaps it is also a plugin.

Update I: I have been able to create two new blogs on the site. One for me and one for viscousplatypus. The Edit for the profile does not appear to be working. One can post to the blog and change personal blog settings but that is about it.

Good Grief!!! You learn a lesson everyday don’t you?? Well my lesson was don’t ever click on the spam messages in the akismet bin thingy. No matter what they say. I did and NEVER AGAIN!!! All the world of popups popped up! I was clicking like a mad person! all these download new virus scans and stuff popped up. I was like no cancel. Cancel, cancel, cancel!!! Lol… My ummie laughed at me. It was soooo not funny while it was happening. I’m just glad it’s done with..
