JLS Album Review

So JLS have dropped their first Debut album titled “JLS”. At first iWasn’t a big fan of JLS, their first single “Beat Again” Was too cheesy for me, and it was just shit especially the video. But they released their second Single “Everybody In Love” which was more R&B than Pop, and iReally liked “Everybody In love”. I had to listen to this album to see if the album was more like Everybody in Love or Beat Again… In my eyes its like Beat Again!

JLS are using Auto-tune in a track on their album called “Crazy For You”. I personally think there is no need for them to use Auto-Tune! Aston has a strong enough voice.

This album really doesn’t make it! However there is a song iLike off there… JUST ONE SONG! Which is “Close To You” which has the Chris Brown “With You” feel to it. The rest of the album is more of Pop/Dance music. Not my type of music at all! But if ur a Pop/Dance person then u will defiantly like this album. If u think that its going to be more like “Everybody In Love” ur going to be highly disappointed! iThink its best u just buy the singles… The album is not Fantastic at all! iThink Louis is turning them into another Blue, But Blue was better than this!

X-Factor: Lets make a Movie

X-Factors theme this week was Film week. This weeks theme was inspired by the contestants going to a film premiere of a Christmas Disney Film during the week. iWas expecting someone to sing something from Dreamgirls – but that never happened.

To start yesterdays show was Stacey Solomon, singing “Son Of a Preacher Man”. Stacey was told to sex it up, but Stacey was saying she doesn’t know how to “sex it up” Which iFelt was a very contradicting statement! Because – Stacey has a son! To have a son… U must have “Sexed it up” sometime during ur life! Stacey’s performance was – Okay. It wasn’t her best, but she hasn’t done a performance that iCan say was bad. So She gets a past from the negative comments this week. The only thing iCan say about Stacey’s performance is that her hair looked like she was going to the corner shop! If X-Factor’s Hairstylist thinks that Stacey’s hair was “Sexy” they need to go back to school!

Next to perform was Olly. Olly is one of my favorite Contestants left in the competition. But unfortunately this song was very predictable. To be honest iThought Olly would have sung this during big band week, He sang “Twist and Shout by The Isle Brothers”. The dancing was very Olly, and his becoming very predictable! NO – Olly this must change if u want to carry on being my Favorite. iFeel that Olly is holding back! iWant to hear some notes of his belting out! However it was a good performance! As always, Olly’s personality always comes out in his performances but iDo want to see some Soul, or some heart-felt songs for Olly to sing. He is getting TO Predictable!

Lloyd was after Olly. Last week Lloyd was in the Bottom Two, so he had to come back and fight this week. Lloyd sang “Stand By me – Ben E. King” during this performance Lloyd let out the biggest note he has ever done WITHIN HIS LIFE! – Yes – HIS LIFE! This song was the best song choice Cheryl has chosen for Lloyd! iStill don’t think he can win the competition but this week’s performance was sort of the best performance he has done so far!

Jamie came and performed “Crying – Roy Orbinson”. I don’t think Jamie’s performance was the best… but it wasn’t the worst. Simon is defiantly struggling choosing songs for Jamie, as he had to change the original song this week. Jamie does have a Rock voice, and there is Rock Soundtracks, but Jamie will get to predictable! But iCan’t help but say that Jamie doesn’t suit no over genre but Rock! iCan’t help but point out that Jamie had the same clothes he had during the “Diva Week”. Hmmm – I’m not just not to sure on Jamie’s performance, and iDid think he was vulnerable this week!

Lucie Jones performed a song from “Camp Rock” she performed “This Is Me – Demi Lovato”. It was so predictable to me that Lucie was going to perform a Disney soundtrack song! She looks like the type of Teenager to sit there and love The Jonas Brothers, and buy the CD of the soundtrack! Lucie’s performance was Okay, I felt that she felt comfortable! It looked like she felt so comfortable that it looked like she was performing in her room. But it was an alright performance! I thought she would be safe after this performance.

Drama King was next! And he has a new look! Danyl has cut his hair off! It’s about time – because he was looking like Aston from JLS for a HOT minute! The new look on Danyl suits him! I’m not going to lie, he does look like a star now! Danyl sang “Purple Rain” In my eyes no-one can sing Purple Rain like how Ruth Lorenzo did last year! But Danyl can pass! It was Okay. He looks like his yawning when he hits them big high notes. iThink u cannot change Danyl’s cocky/arrogant/over-confident attitude! If his been like that for Years its gonna take him a WHILE to change!

Satan and his Demon’s was next aka John & Edward. They performed Ghostbusters, and tried to hi-Jack Michael Jackson’s Thriller in the performance as well. Let me just post the video because i’m getting fed up of expressing my opinions on these Demon’s every Flipping WEEK!

Joe McElderly was last but not least! And his Performance was the BEST in my eyes! It was the best performance of the night! iWas really touched by this song! He sang “Circle Of Life – Elton John”. I know it’s from the Lion King but this song was so TOUCHING! and his performance was very Heart-felt! Joe has just made it into my favorites to win X-Factor! I never really liked him before, but this week iLiked him! He seems so humble as well! Well done Joe! This week u stepped up on http://ItzMally.wordpress.com

Album Review: JLS - "JLS"

So, I finally get chance to write the album review that I have been really looking forward to writing!

JLS have released ‘JLS’ on the same week that Robbie has released ‘Reality Killed The Video Star‘, so the battle for supremacy in the charts this weekend will be one of the most interesting of the year I reckon.

We all know JLS, we all love JLS, and we all want to sleep with at least one of JLS, right?!

So, in lieu of this, rather than give you the spiel about JLS and their story, here’s my thoughts on the album

I tend to just make notes whilst I listen:

Beat Again: MOBO ‘Best Song’ of the year… what more is there to say?! Excellent debut single!

Everybody In Love: not a huge fan of this, but it’s really grown on me the more I’ve heard it. A little too soppy for me.

Keep You: Funky, great song! I was chair dancing along to the beat – I really hope this one is a single!

Crazy For You: 90s-style ballad, nice sound to it, but does sound a little dated as it harks back to the boy band of yester-year. This is to be the third single, and will (again!) go head to head with Robbie (‘You Know Me‘). Unfortunately, I think this song will lose that battle.

Heal This Heartbreak: love the style of this and the pulsating baseline – would be great in a nightclub, and I’d imagine it’d have a very cool music video to accompany it.

Close To You: A JLS style ballad instead of a dated one… much better! Really nice stripped back sound, with some gorgeous vocals.

Only Tonight: Opening bars sound a little like the start of Don Henley’s “Boys Of Summer“, but it quickly turns into a song with a great beat, chilled sound and some great harmonies.

One Shot: Excellent club track – potential single I reckon. Contemporary, upbeat and pleasant on the ear.

Private: Another funky baseline, I can imagine this one as a single too (I’d choose this over One Shot) – I was dancing around my living room, and I’ve just had a long hard day at work… so that’s something! Second favourite track on the album.

Don’t Go: Edgy sounding song, starting to sound like the last two tracks a little, but I love the little ‘woo-ohh’s’.

Only Making Love: Strange sounding track, dislike the beat, it jars with the song I feel. By the chorus, I was kinda into it and bouncing along, but I think that was just because the beat started getting repetitive.

Kickstart: I like this one – similar sounding to many of the other tracks, but there’s something that I like about it that I can’t quite put my hand on it… I think it’s the chorus! Either way, it had me dancing along.

Tightrope: A bit of sing-by-numbers ballad. Album track, but not necessarily a bad one. Clumsy transpose towards the end spoils it a little.

All in all, I think that this is a good album!

I much prefer an edgy contemporary JLS sound/performance than the 90s ballad sound that they sometimes come out with…. but in all fairness, when they do go into ballad mode, it’s nowhere near as bad as some of the absolute slush that’s gone before (911, A1 etc!).

Perhaps predictably, they have been criticised (ok, ok, slammed) quite a lot by the media for this debut album, and I can understand why, though I do think that they are getting more flack than they should – it’s certainly not hideous! They wrote nine of the thirteen songs on the album, and in my opinion, it’s their second album which is going to be the more exciting, as they’ll be able to mature into their new roles and get a feel for what they want to do, and do it in their own time.

I was a huge fan of these lads in X-Factor and recognised their potential very early on. I am very glad that they’re currently getting all the success that they have earnt, and sincerely hope that it continues for them.

I purchased the HMV edition which came with the exclusive slip case (naturally, I chose Aston) – I like the album artwork, though I was very disappointed that they didn’t include any torso shots! Boo!

… and you wouldn’t want to see Aston topless now…. would you?

Can I volunteer if I’m an asylum seeker or refugee?
Does volunteering affect my benefits?
I’m on a student visa – can I volunteer?
Can I do my college / university work placement at Come:Unity Arts?
Do I need to be a qualified therapist to take part?
Do I need to speak English to participate?
How long do I have to wait if I’m placed on the waiting list?

Will I be able to volunteer if I’m an asylum seeker or refugee?
Yes. Since 2000, asylum seekers and refugees can do voluntary work even though your visa may prohibit you from doing unpaid work.

I’m on jobseekers allowance – does volunteering affect my benefits?
You can volunteer if you are in receipt of jobseekers allowance as long as you inform the benefits office of your voluntary work, and you can still have your travel expenses reimbursed. The office may ask us for confirmation of this, which we will be pleased to help you with.

I’m a Student – can I still volunteer?
Students can undertake voluntary work as long as it is within your permitted working hours and fits in with the timetable required at Come:Unity Arts.

If I need to fulfil a work placement for my college or university, can I do this through C:UA’ programme?
Yes, we have taken on various work placements in the past, although you will need to firstly check that we have vacancies, and then discuss this with your university. All work placements still have to follow the same application process as any other applicant.

Do I need to be a fully qualified therapist to take part in the programme?
The counselling service takes on a maximum of 2 counselling /therapy students on work placement through their institution at any one time. All others must be fully qualified.

Do I need to speak English to take part?
Not necessarily – your level of English depends on the role you apply for. For instance to interpret or translate, you will need an advanced level of English. If you don’t speak much English, we would encourage you to practice and to participate in our language exchange.

How long do I have to wait if I’m placed on the waiting list?
It could be as little as 4 weeks – when a volunteer finds a job, their role will become available immediately. Our waiting list is ordered by type of role you tell us you are interested in, so as soon as your interests become available we will contact you for an interview. You shouldn’t be waiting any longer than 6 months.

Safer Students roadshow comes to a close!

After a great week filled with coffee, make-up, x-box and magic, the Safer Students roadshow has unfortunately had to come to an end. All week we have been touring the West Midland’s universities hoping to inform and educate students and raise awareness of crime prevention, whilst at the same time seeking to promote an improved relationship between the police and the student community.

A staggering 1 in 3 students become a victim of crime at university, but the majority of this crime could be avoided by taking a few simple measures, such as moving valuable items in the house away from the windows and out of view and making sure that their residency is properly secured.

The roadshow visited the universities of Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Warwick and Aston, as well as Birmingham City University. We had a great attendance each day as students trekked from all over campus to take a look at what was going on (and not just for the free sweets!)

The roadshow offered students the chance to play on the X-box and Nintendo Wii;

to get their nails and make-up done;

when u yearn for something more than fishball noodles or cha kway teow, maybe can consider aston at non-peak hours. (maybe avoid the usual lunch hours or dinner time). for a different, i tried the black pepper grilled fish which cost only SGD$7.20!! I thought’s quite a cheap deal considering the comfort of dining in an air-con environment and being served at your table. I’m so so sure if Hans serve their fish at this price too but the last time i had sirlon steak at han’s, i remembered they werent so cheap because the presentation of their steak was really getting nowhere appetizing. Btw, this one is at east coast road, just opposite katong mall. so parking is fairly simple, just parked into katong village or if not katong mall and cross the road. I’m so happy that i spent just slightly over $20 with hubby to spend a fairly good but cheap dinner together.

Btw, i forgot to add this. I’ve tried aston’s prime before. honestly, it doesn’t worth that amount to me, maybe because i’m not a beef fanatic to begin with. I actually felt better and more fulfilling with the steaks at their cheaper outlet than their prime which appears to be more ‘high-class’ fine dining. Sorry lah, i love my steak with a mug root beer than trying to act stylo-milo with a glass of red wine.

Kali ini KangFerdha diberi kesempatan ambil bagian dalam penyelesaian pembuatan Pedoman Penilaian Mesin dan Peralatan. Meski sebagai pengganti teman yang berhalangan ikut karena mendapat tugas lain dari kantor. Sebagai anggota tim termuda maka sudah sewajarnya KangFerdha menjadi seksi sibak sibuk ini itu di awal persiapan. Itu lebih baik daripada harus menderita karena terjebak rutinitas pekerjaan di kantor. Anggap saja kali ini KangFerdha melarikan diri dari serbuan kerjaan yang tidak pernah berakhir. Dalam pembukaan konsinyering, ditetapkan bahwa KangFerdha masuk dalam Subtim Penilaian Scrap. Apa itu Scrap? Scrap biasa dikenal dengan puing-puing yang dijual kiloan. La extimidad llamada tambien “el show de la vida privada”. Es mostrar sin tapujos lo que antes era la intimidad. Mostrarla sin remordimientos ni temerosidad. Es una nueva palabra que ha salido a partir de la masificación de las redes sociales. Ahora vemos que come, que lee, a que hora duerme, por qué no duerme cualquier persona (que nos interese)

Algunos lo toman muy bien esta novedad de estar en todas y saber todo, otros como Clooney detestan hasta no más poder. Para los artistas es un medio de difusión y de estar cada día presente en la mente de los consumidores es una buena herramienta (Lo mismo sucede con las empresas)

Con el incremento del Facebook a 300 millones de personas, podemos entender que esto de la extimidad es un fenómeno serio y es que crean o no, nos gusta exhibirnos. Nos gusta hablar pero no escuchar ( caso twitter)

El voyeurismo emocional (como lo dicen los alter psicologos) produce mucha tolerancia y sucede como con las drogas: que cada vez hay que ir subiendo la dosis“.

La violación de la intimidad parece que no le afectó mucho a Demi. Estamos acostumbranos que lo personal se confunda con lo público. Y no sólo hay que verlo en el sentido del morbo que puede ocasionar sino también desde el punto de vista de la seguridad. No todos en la red son buenas personas.

La nueva modalidad es usar la información regada en la web para cometir delitos.

After a very heated debate about JLS debut single Beat Again, this single gets my thumbs up. This is what I can see myself singing along to in the car. Not only do they sound a lot more mature, they look hot too! Starting to shed the reality show hoodies, their new wardrobes are pretty unique too. I like it, what do you think?

soooo sorry i never update this blog again..
blame twitter for that…hahaha!

gwe lagi di bontang nih…yap!tanpa diduga, gwe balik bontang. Sama sekali diluar dugaan gwe bisa ngabisin hari trakhir puasa di Bontang, padahal sejak gwe kuliah gwe gak pernah lagi satu haripun puasa di Bontang. Apalagi ada bayangan gwe ngabisin lebaran di Bontang untuk tahun ini. wuiih…never!

H-3 gwe belum dapat tiket sama skali, karena keputusan baru jatuh hari itu persis. Tapi sangat beruntung skali, karena gwe dapat tiket seharga 515.000, GARUDA!!huahaha…dealiner itu gak selalu buruk ko..:D

Tapi dikatakan gwe pulang ke bontang pun, gwe gak ngrasain lama2 di bontang. Karena gwe n keluarga ngabisin 4 hari 3 malam di Samarinda. Dari hari pertama lebaran sampe hari ke4 lebaran, gwe n ortu stay di samarinda. jadilah gwe di Bontang cman ada skitar 3 harian kalo diitung-itung. Tapi gpp, 3 hari cukup untuk menikmati seafoof khas bontang n masakan nyokap gwe, dan tentu saja maen bowling gratis dari siang sampe sore semaunya!

perjalanan gwe ke bontang alhamdulillah lancar2 aja. Walopun pesawatnya sempet telah 15menitan, walopun airport penuhnya kaya pasar, tp gwe sampe tepat pada waktu yang dijadwalkan. Thx to twitter yang menemani saya slama perjalanan..heheh!

Di Samarinda kemarin, gwe gk terlalu dapat pengalaman seru. Hari kedua lebaran, gwe habisin buat ngerjain tugas n tidur2an di kamar hotel Aston (cerita ttg aston bakal gwe jelasin di post yang beda). Hari ke3 gwe n ortu kliling2, cari tempat makan yang buka (tempat2 makan bakal gwe jelas di post yang beda juga ). Hari ke4, udah pulang..hahaha…simple kaan???

Tapi yang bikin gwe seneng dengan mudik kali ini adalah, gwe bner2 bisa ngrasain rumah lagi. Udah setahunan gwe gak balik, dan gwe bner2 kangen bau rumah!
besok dah balik lagi ke jakarta n besoknya ke bandung lagi…aah,,sial!eh, tapi gwe dapat tiket murah lagi…cman 550.000!! GARUDA!!!hahahaha!!
