Lionsgate just released this new movie poster featuring Hit Girl in the upcoming film “Kick-Ass” by director Matthew Vaughn (Stardust) and starring Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider 2, Astro Boy), Aaron Johnson (Nearly Famous), Christopher Mintx-Plasse, Frank Strong, and Chloe Moretz.

Synopsis: Dave Lizewski is an unnoticed high school student and comic book fan with a few friends and who lives alone with his father.  His life is not very difficult and his personal trials not that overwhelming. However, one day he makes the simple decision to become a super-hero even though he has no powers or training.

It’s festive time, it’s time to revive my wardrobe and get some new underwear.

Sudah tidak asing lagi bagi kita mendengar animasi yang satu ini! ya, Astro Boy, karakter komik jepang ini di angkat menjadi film animasi terbaru “Astro Boy”. Studio film Imagi International Holdings Limited memproduksi “Astro Boy” dengan menggunakan software Autodesk Maya dari Autodesk, Inc. Maya merupakan komponen inti dalam proses pembuatan film yang berjalan  tanpa henti baik di Hong Kong maupun Hollywood.

Osamu Tezuka pertama kali memperkenalkan serial komik tentang Astro Boy, sebuah robot anak laki-laki yang tidak pernah bertambah usia, pada tahun 1950-an. Bersama dengan popularitasnya, komik tersebut kemudian dikembangkan menjadi kartun hitam putih untuk televisi pada tahun 1963 – serial TV Jepang pertama yang menggunakan sebuah estetika yang sekarang dikenal dunia sebagai anime. Pada tanggal 23 Oktober 2009, telah diluncurkan penampilan perdana “Astro Boy” di bioskop melalui sebuah film animasi.

Imagi Studios telah mengeluarkan investasi sebesar US$ 65 juta untuk pembuatan “Astro Boy”. Proses produksi film ini mencakup pembentukkan konsep dan karakter, penulisan naskah serta desain awal yang dikerjakan oleh sebuah tim di Los Angeles; sedangkan tim Hong Kong yang terdiri dari 400 seniman berkonsentrasi pada pembuatan model, tekstur, animasi, pencahayaan, rendering, dan tugas penggabungan.

Francis Kao, pendiri dan direktur kreatif Imagi Studios, berkata, “Kami memilih Autodesk Maya sebagai platform animasi untuk ‘Astro Boy’ karena keleluasaannya, perangkat kreatif, dan dukungan dari seniman-seniman handal. Kami bergantung pada fitur-fitur kuat dalam software tersebut, dan programmer kami telah mengembangkan plug-in khusus untuk Maya, untuk mempermudah proses pembuatan animasi berkualitas tinggi.”

Bisnis utama Imagi Studios adalah mengembangkan dan memproduksi film-film animasi komputer. Dirilis pada tahun 2007, “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” juga diproduksi oleh perusahaan ini dengan menggunakan Maya. Ketika diluncurkan, film tersebut mendapat peringkat pertama di box office Amerika Serikat – pertama kalinya untuk sebuah film animasi yang diproduksi di Asia.

“Untuk ‘Astro Boy’ simulasi dedaunan dikerjakan menggunakan efek-efek gambar software Maya bersamaan dengan plug-in internal kami,” kata John Mak, kepala technical operations di Imagi Studios. “Setelah menggunakan Maya selama bertahun-tahun, kami melihat kemajuan pesat dalam kapabilitas software ini. Maya telah membantu kami untuk memproduksi animasi kelas dunia.”
