Ich habe heute ein wenig mit der Podcastingsoftware Audacity und mit dem Podcasten an sich beschäftigt. Ich finde eigentlich ist Podcasting nicht so schwer ist wie ich anfangs dachte. Natürlich ist meine erste Episode a: noch Privat und b: auch noch nicht sonderlich lang oder professionell aber ich denke, dass sich das mit wachsender Erfahrung ändern wird.

Mein erster Eindruck ist, dass Podcasting im Prinzip wie ein Referat halten ist mit dem einzigen Unterschied, dass einen keiner doof anguckt .

Also ich hoffe ich finde bald eine Lösung wie ich möglichst schnell und ohne großen Aufwand eine xml Datei also einen RSS Feed erzeugen kann damit ich den Podcast bei iTunes einreichen kann.

Ich denke ich werde bald erste Erfolge verbuchen können und werde dann jede Woche oder immer wenn ich ein gutes Thema habe eine Folge produzieren und diese dann zum Download bereitstellen werde.

Κάθε φορά που συμβαίνει αυτό, με τη βοήθεια των RSS feeds, όλοι οι συνδρομητές του καναλιού σας ενημερώνονται για το νέο podcast αυτομάτως. Με τη βοήθεια εξειδικευμένου λογισμικού (όπως για παράδειγμα itunes, winamp, mediamonkey κλπ. – τα επονομαζόμενα podcatchers) λαμβάνουν το podcast, το οποίο αργότερα μπορούν να περάσουν στο mp3, mp4 player ή κινητό τηλέφωνο που διαθέτουν. Ωραία όλα αυτά· τι σχέση έχουν με τη μαθηματική εκπαίδευση; Η πρακτική του podcasting εξασκείται ήδη σε πολλά πανεπιστήμια τόσο στο εξωτερικό όσο και στο εσωτερικό, στα πλαίσια της συνδυασμένης μορφής εκπαίδευσης (blended learning). Mπορείτε μάλιστα να βρείτε στις ιστοσελίδες πολλών πανεπιστημίων οδηγίες για την παραγωγή και διανομή podcast. Στη δευτεροβάθμια εκπαίδευση η χρήση των podcast δεν είναι ευρέως διαδεδομένη, παρουσιάζει όμως κάποια σημαντικά πλεονεκτήματα, όπως το γεγονός ότι:

• μπορεί να εξυπηρετήσει μαθητές με προβλήματα όρασης ή ακοής
• τα podcast είναι διαθέσιμα οποτεδήποτε και οπουδήποτε
• είναι πολύ εύχρηστα για συχνή επανάληψη
• υποστηρίζουν το οπτικό ή ακουστικό μαθησιακό στυλ

Συγκεκριμένα για τα μαθηματικά, θα έλεγα ότι τα podcast που μπορεί ένας εκπαιδευτικός της δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης να παράξει, να αφορούν κατά κύριο λόγο κομμάτια μεθοδολογίας ή ορισμούς. Για παράδειγμα, ενδεικτικοί τίτλοι υποθετικών podcast για τα μαθηματικά της Β’ Λυκείου και της Β’ Γυμνασίου θα μπορούσαν να είναι:

Για τη Β’ Λυκείου

• Η έλλειψη (κατασκευή, ορισμός, γεωμετρικός τόπος, εκκεντρότητα)
• Το πολυώνυμο (ορισμός του μονωνύμου / πολυωνύμου, τι είναι βαθμός πολυωνύμου, συντελεστές, σταθερός όρος)

Για τη Β’ Γυμνασίου

• Η εξίσωση (ποια βήματα ακολουθούμε για να λύσουμε μια εξίσωση α’ βαθμού)
• Το Πυθαγόρειο θεώρημα και το αντίστροφό του (πότε χρησιμοποιείται το ένα και πότε το άλλο)

Αν “ψήνεστε” να κατασκευάσετε τα δικά σας podcast, θα χρειαστείτε:

1. μικρόφωνο
2. ηλεκτρονικό υπολογιστή εφοδιασμένο με κατάλληλο λογισμικό
3. μια σύνδεση στο ίντερνετ

Για να βοηθήσω με το 2ο βήμα (αφού με το 1ο και το 3ο δεν μπορώ να κάνω πολλά πράγματα) έχω φτιάξει έναν οδηγό εγκατάστασης του Audacity για συστήματα Windows, μεταφράζοντας ουσιαστικά το υλικό που υπάρχει ήδη online σχετικά με το θέμα και προσθέτοντας επεξηγηματικές εικόνες. Το Audacity είναι ο πιο ευρέως χρησιμοποιούμενος επεξεργαστής ήχου, το οποίο μάλιστα είναι ελεύθερο και δωρεάν λογισμικό. Every day I hear somebody tell me they want to start a career in the music industry, they want produce musiclike what comes on ‘MTV’. They ask me questions about how the sounds are made, do you think they are using real instruments and loads more. They are really interested and all I can do is tell them the real deal.

If you want to become the next big producer like who you listen to, you need to get your music productionknowledge up. You need to find someone who knows everything about what you want to do and beyond, someone who knows where your coming from. They could be someone your age or older, they are going to be a mentor to you, almost like a manager how allows you to go on making music the way you want to and allows you to make your own mistakes. You need someone who can show you what music production software you need such as Logic Pro, Fruity Loops, Audacity and more. The hardware is just as important too to get real sounds, MPC’s, Mixers, Microphones, Amps & Audio interfaces are all very important things when you are producing music.

Are you sure you want to become a music producerbecause these things are available for you and if you are willing to work hard you have a good chance in succeeding in the music industry. But first you need to get your knowledge up and start studying today from home in your free time. There is a website that teaches you everything about music production and has everything you need to know and more. Everything about the music studio, it will teach you about mastering, dynamics, mixing and compressing all of your own songs. Finishing and mastering other peoples songs and you could make it big doing that. (Sound Engineers get paid!)

But as I have already said, get your knowledge up as much as you can. There are so many people everyday saying ‘they want to produce music’ and never do!

Als creatieve en gedreven leerlingen hebben wij het programma Audacity eens flink onder de loep genomen. Het is een freeware programma en dit wil zeggen dat je het gratis kan downloaden en gebruiken.
In Audacity kun je stukjes muziek knippen en plakken waar je maar wil, je kan geluiden opnemen met je micro en je kan toffe effecten toevoegen.
Een paar effecten van deze effecten zijn:

• Tempo wijzigen
• Toonhoogte wijzigen
• Fade In/Out
• Achterstevoren spelen

Basic controls in Audacity

A technique that I am using more and more for any form of online marking or feedback, is to record an audio file using Audacity. Audacity is a free piece of software which can either be downloaded onto a computer, or can be run from a memory pen and is part of the eduapps package so easy to use from there. The output is an MP3 file, which is much smaller than using the inbulit voice recorder in Word, and Audacity if very easy to use.

So why do I do this rather than using the track changes options in Word?

1. Even though I am quite a quick typist, I can still talk a lot faster than I can type. In terms of marking work I think it takes me between 30% and 50% the time that it would take me to use typing feedback.
2. The feedback that I give is richer, both in terms of saying more (as no restrictions in space) and there is additional information (a bit like body language) to the learner, in terms of changes in my voice etc.
3. I don’t make the learners nicely presented piece of work look an awful mess, with comments and lines everywhere.
4. The learner can listen to the feedback on a computer, or on a music player – so they can for example access their feedback on the bus on the way home.
5. I can do my marking sat on the sofa or laying in bed – which is much more comfy than sitting at a desk – very important when having lots to mark.
6. A tutor will only need to learn about the location of 4 buttons within Audacity to be able to use it, so very simple for even those that are a little technologically weary.

Not all learners will like this approach, and it only really works if the person doing the marking can find somewhere quiet and alone to do this – but for me, I think that it is great.

To keep the monster functioning we must feed it, without the fuel of our participation it must die. We can rebel and take our culture and lives on our own terms. Science, technology, or politics won’t assuage our crisis.  We will continue to make a forever updated mess until we reevaluate our standards, think and ways of relating.  The solution will take time, energy, creativity, and courage.  The necessary rebellion is dangerous and authentic because it requires a shedding of apathy.  We must become fully connected and present to bloom in the responsibility of being a human.  We need to fuse our individual actions to the fact that they have real, lasting, and communal consequences.  It is time for a rebellion because it’s necessary, but know that it comes with responsibility.   To maintain liberty, we must learn to sustain our significance.  We do not have to participate in perceived power structures. We have the power. Ban together.  Forget about party affiliation.  Refuse to be divided.  Act for yourself and for others.  Vote with your dollar.  Give your money to real people that make real meaning.  Don’t feed the monster.    Eat real food.  Support your local economy.  Take the little steps and make the stout ones in chorus.  Don’t wait for government action. Speak up. Urge elected officials. We can stop fighting the source of our sustenance and start living in a symbiotic relationship with it.  We can reclaim our right to enjoy the authentic pleasures of living and loving and working.  Wake up and do the things that are important and that you care about.  Everyday.

These politico screeds pedestalizing Democrats for being thoughtful and deep-thinking about this Generational Health Care Theft Act need to be moved to the ‘Fiction’ section.  To think otherwise would have you also believe Kennedy’s successor’s vote on the deed was not preordained from the grave.  Unfortunately, you need not be a prophet to know the mind of a Democrat, you just have to have some.   Now, that was deep.

Another Failed Presidency

Barack Obama is on track to have the most spectacularly failed presidency since Woodrow Wilson.  In the modern era, we’ve seen several failed presidencies–led by Jimmy Carter and LBJ.  Failed presidents have one strong common trait– they are repudiated, in the vernacular, spat out. Of course, LBJ wisely took the exit ramp early, avoiding a shove into oncoming traffic by his own party.  Richard Nixon indeed resigned in disgrace, yet his reputation as a statesman has been partially restored by his triumphant overture to China.

But, Barack Obama is failing.  Failing big.  Failing fast. And failing everywhere: foreign policy, domestic initiatives, and most importantly, in forging connections with the American people. The incomparable Dorothy Rabinowitz in the Wall Street Journal put her finger on it: He is failing because he has no understanding of the American people, and may indeed loathe them. Fred Barnes of the Weekly Standard says he is failing because he has lost control of his message, and is overexposed.  Clarice Feldman of American Thinker produced a dispositive commentary showing that Obama is failing because fundamentally he is neither smart nor articulate; his intellectual dishonesty is conspicuous by its audacity and lack of shame.

But, there is something more seriously wrong: How could a new president riding in on a wave of unprecedented promise and goodwill have forfeited his tenure and become a lame duck in six months?  His poll ratings are in free fall.  In generic balloting, the Republicans have now seized a five point advantage.  This truly is unbelievable.  What’s going on?

No narrative. Obama doesn’t have a narrative.  No, not a narrative about himself.  He has a self-narrative, much of it fabricated, cleverly disguised or written by someone else.  But this self-narrative is isolated and doesn’t connect with us.  He doesn’t have an American narrative that draws upon the rest of us.  All successful presidents have a narrative about the American character that intersects with their own where they display a command of history and reveal an authenticity at the core of their personality that resonates in a positive endearing way with the majority of Americans. We admire those presidents whose narratives not only touch our own, but who seem stronger, wiser, and smarter than we are.  Presidents we admire are aspirational peers, even those whose politics don’t align exactly with our own: Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, Harry Truman, Ike, and Reagan.

But not this president. It’s not so much that he’s a phony, knows nothing about economics, and is historically illiterate and woefully small minded for the size of the task–all contributory of course.  It’s that he’s not one of us.  And whatever he is, his profile is fuzzy and devoid of content, like a cardboard cutout made from delaminated corrugated paper.  Moreover, he doesn’t command our respect and is unable to appeal to our own common sense. His notions of right and wrong are repugnant and how things work just don’t add up. They are not existential. His descriptions of the world we live in don’t make sense and don’t correspond with our experience.

In the meantime, while we’ve been struggling to take a measurement of this man, he’s dissed just about every one of us–financiers, energy producers, banks, insurance executives, police officers, doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, post office workers, and anybody else who has a non-green job.  Expect Obama to lament at his last press conference in 2012: “For those of you I offended, I apologize.  For those of you who were not offended, you just didn’t give me enough time; if only I’d had a second term, I could have offended you too.”

Mercifully, the Founders at the Constitutional Convention in 1787 devised a useful remedy for such a desperate state–staggered terms for both houses of the legislature and the executive.  An equally abominable Congress can get voted out next year.  With a new Congress, there’s always hope of legislative gridlock until we vote for president again two short years after that.

Yes, small presidents do fail, Barack Obama among them.  The coyotes howl but the wagon train keeps rolling along.

A Espaço Jovem tem história…
Iniciou suas atividades em 2007, após ter sido feita uma pesquisa entre os alunos do 3º ciclo que  demonstraram interesse em desenvolver a atividade de construção da Rádio. Da pesquisa surgiu o nome Espaço Jovem. Em 2007, gravamos vários programas na escola, até  gravamos  na Rádio UCS. Em 2008, a rádio esteve desativada. Reaberta este ano, está sendo gravada no LIE e volta com força total. E que volte para ficar!

Beck is just crushing Obama.  Picking off Obama-cronies one by one.  His common sense themes and ability to bond with the average American viewer has Obama, Obama thugs, and Congress looking like the the absolute arrogant fools that they are.  And they can’t stand Beck sucking all the air out of the room.

This is going to get good, if Beck can manage to stay alive through the process.   Yea, I said it.  I believe he could be in danger.  There’s Billions in political corruption at stake and Beck tearing them down has not gone unnoticed.  Unfortunately, only one of the characters has secret service protection and its not the one who deserves it.

The new autobiography by moose hunter and failed vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is harder to find in the Bay Area than a hockey mom. Some bookstores figure it’s one of those grit-your-teeth First Amendment deals that principled booksellers must put up with from time to time.

But many nonchain bookstores won’t handle it.

So apparently my roommates are trying to vote me out of our suite because I’m coughing so much. Or at least make me sleep in the closet so they can’t hear me.
Now I can take a joke, but this is a bit much. Because I never complained about all of them being sick, which is what got me sick in the first place. I was the last of us to catch anything…I just can’t help that the various forms of medicine I have been taking for the past 3 weeks haven’t done anything.
And now they have the audacity to give me shit because they are all healthy again.

Estudos sobre o patrimônio, junto da Profa. Celoi Borelli da Luz, levaram a turma 6ºA a aprofundar as discussões nas questões relacionadas ao vandalismo, no LIE. A partir de uma webquest, elaborada pela Profa. Elisabete Bianchi, os alunos puderam identificar atos de vandalismo que a sociedade vem enfrentando, conhecer as questões legais envolvidas e debater possíveis encaminhamentos para este problema.

Os alunos tiveram como tarefa:
1º) em grupo, inventar e descrever, em texto jornalístico, um ato de vandalismo;
2º) trocar o texto criado com outro grupo;
3º) escolher um personagem para “incorporar” (pai, professor, policial, colega, um membro da comunidade,…), que deverá resolver a situação problema;
4º) buscar informações e debater  sobre como resolver a situação problema dentro da legalidade;
5º) elaborar um texto jornalístico que informe a solução encontrada por seu personagem;
6º) gravar, no programa Audacity, o comentário rádio jornalístico sobre como o problema foi resolvido.

Os trabalhos foram apresentados na Mostra do Conhecimento, realizada na escola em 31 de outubro.

A quick google of the word audacity immediately pops up “audacity of hope” in the most common search terms, referring to President Elect Barack Obama’s book The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream (Vintage) . In a society where pessimism – or in the online world, “snarkiness” – sells newspapers and keeps eyes glued to television or computer screen, hope and positivity aren’t popular and can border on the outrageous. Who hasn’t found a moment to scorn the latest self-help book, or heard about a new age guru who is so cheery we want to smack him and tell him what life is really like. Just witness the hidden personal tragedies of the motivational speaker as portrayed in the movie Little Miss Sunshine. As viewers, we revel in the irony of the broken man behind such a sunny facade.

Artists can be snarky too; in fact, how many of us feel we have a pessimistic world view? We often see ourselves as public Eeyores with an eye for sharp social commentary, but I think that in reality being an artist is an act full of hope and optimism. We may not paint pretty pictures or write music that is calming or even pleasing to most ears, but even our representations of the utmost ugliness are a kind of transformation. Sometimes our work draws attention to the beauty in sadness or anger, and other times our depictions of all that is wrong in the world is jarring enough to inspire people to change themselves or the world around them. We persevere through all sorts of conditions to create these works, and believe we have something to say. Is that not also extremely audacious?

With the election of Barack Obama, the United States has turned away from the darkness of the last eight years – a darkness we have all experienced as Americans, regardless of political party. This isn’t a political blog, but there is no denying that politics affects the artist. To see so many people inspired by Obama’s positive message and call for individuals to take responsibility for making the world a better place is possibly the most significant event I have witnessed in my lifetime. In the campaign season, we haven’t heard much said about the connection between the arts and our electoral choices. I was surprised and pleased to see that documentary filmmaker Michael Moore had this to say about Obama’s election and the arts:

We may, just possibly, also see a time of refreshing openness, enlightenment and creativity. The arts and the artists will not be seen as the enemy. Perhaps art will be explored in order to discover the greater truths. When FDR was ushered in with his landslide in 1932, what followed was Frank Capra and Preston Sturgis, Woody Guthrie and John Steinbeck, Dorothea Lange and Orson Welles.

I would argue that in times of growth in our country, art simply becomes more visible to the public – the artists are always there no matter what political climate – although certainly a government that values art helps more work come to fruition through government funding and the encouragement of the support of art by the private sector. But I do think that Moore is onto something – the “sea change” in politics as described by the media with this election also bodes well for the celebration of artistic expression.

After I watched Obama speak on Election night with a group of volunteers and townsfolk who gathered at the local tavern, I found myself strolling the sidewalks of the city where I live. Though it was past midnight, people were in the streets celebrating, honking their horns at intersections, skipping and dancing. A Church bell rang out in victory – a surreal experience at once marking history in the making and reminiscent of past events of monumental importance.

Throughout his speech, it was clear that Barack Obama is a man who has fought his way through many obstacles with grace and integrity when it would have been easy to become bitter or vengeful. As we go to work in our studios, darkrooms, practice spaces and quiet coffeehouse corners in the coming months, perhaps we can learn from his approach. By embracing the idea that our art is deep down borne of optimism and hope, we can more often find the strength to grapple with the difficult issues and conflicting pressures of being an artist, spurring creativity and bringing a new depth and focus to our work.
