  So I thought that sometimes re-discovering old music, is in a way like buying new music ! So everyday now I am always in work a little early which allows me time to play music so I go retro and play some old stuff…

One hot minute  – by the chili  peppers….   some think that this is the weakest Chili’s album, but I disagree Dave Novarro adds some depth on this one.

I have decided to make a list of my favorite albums from the decade, since the decade is drawing to a close. These are in no particular order:

• blink-182, blink-182 – A pop-punk masterpiece.
• Green Day, American Idiot - A more mature side of Green Day and one of the only punk rock operas ever.
• Jack’s Mannequin, Everything In Transit – An album from Andrew McMahon that showcases perfect pop.

• Angels & Airwaves, I-Empire – Tom Delonge of blink-182 makes yet another great record that is completely underrated
• Blind Pilot, 3 Rounds And A Sound – A folky, acoustic album that makes you hope this band will be around for years to come.

Audioslave – Show Me How To Live

On my rock sh*t today.  If you want to listen to a really good album, definitely listen to Audioslave’s self-titled debut album from 2002.  Back in high school, my buddy Los  put me on to Rage Against the Machine.  Then after Zach de la Rocha left the group, I kept listening to the rest of the band when they formed Audioslave.

When I go to the gym (about once every 3 months) I really can’t listen to hip hop.  Just doesn’t get me pumped up enough.  I usually keep this album, Rage’s Evil Empire, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Greatest Hits (with Dani California added in) and a little Lenny Kravitz in the I-pod Nano and I’m good to go.  Maybe I should visit the gym this week seeing that they automatically debit my bank account monthly whether I go or not.  Ehhh…we’ll see.  No promises.

It’s been quite a few days since my last blog entry. Today is the lucky day for my (few) readers, however, as I’m pleased to announce a new DAILY (or so I hope) entry series.

This is the first entry in the D.A.M.N. (Daily Awesome Music Nugget) series. The goal of “D.A.M.N.” is to share songs, performances, solos, and clips of music that I find to be epic, gnarly, boss, brutal, sick, or whatever synonym of “awesome” one can use.  I will continue to write my album reviews, as I love the album format and will defend and promote it until the end of the time. In this day and age, however, most people seem to respond to and embrace the “single” format more. This blog is for those people, the ones who don’t necessarily choose to listen to music by the album, be it by necessity or choice. Also, I will not necessarily be covering big hit songs, just ones that on the day I write, that I find to be especially awesome.

Without further ado, it’s time to move on with my entry. Today’s song is Audioslave’s “One and the Same.”

The band Audioslave.

This song, simply put, kicks twelve kinds of ass. From the funk-wah guitar intro/chorus of Tom Morello to the punchy groove of the rhythm section, from Chris Cornell’s passionate vocal to the tightness of the composition; there’s so much to like about this song. It’s not hard to get into at all, it’s very funky and poppy, and has a very positive vibe. I can’t say enough about Morello’s guitar work in this tune, it’s everything a Morello fan would want and more. The arpeggiating solo and his effective riffing are fist-pumpingly and toe-tappingly divine.

I can’t get enough of the breakdown immediately following the solo. With only Brad Wilk’s pseudo-tribal drums and Chris Cornell’s monster vocals pulsing through my ears, I find myself clapping and bobbing my head along. This song is a rock grenade with the pin pulled and is guaranteed to improve your mood. Highly recommended.

I have a new opportunity on the horizon and probably have the chance to work downtown in a bar that constantly plays live music with my roommate. Some might call it destiny while others will blame it on luck but in any case it’s exciting.  It makes you think about what you’re doing with your life when you have a change in routine so maybe that’s what everyone else needs. Here’s some five pieces of music to facilitate some changes.

Audioslave: Set it off – The “supergroup” has come and gone but at least they left us with a handful of fantastic track before they left. This song should have been a single and I think it’s one of the best things they recorded [that and "Original Fire] I’d add both to your catalog now. Thank Tom Morello while you’re at it, because everything he touched with an [electric] guitar turns to pure gold.

Cage The Elephant: Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked - Ok, so most of their songs sound the same. That just means find the best one and roll with it. That’s exactly what these newcomers have done. I enjoyed their album but it does get a little repetitive at times.

Chemical Brothers: Galvanize - How can you go wrong with Q-Tip rapping over one of the greatest electronic acts of all time. This song won them two Grammys for a reason. You probably have heard clips from an old Budweiser commercial but the song is so much better.

David Gahan: Kingdom [Digitalism Remix] – I can’t find the re-mix on YouTube but most torrents should have it. It’s a great song in either condition but become epic after its tweaking

Genesis: I Can’t Dance - Yes, even Genesis had some noteworthy songs that should survive the test of time. I am not a big Phil Collins fan but he shines on this track. Kills it in fact.

It seems like all bands go through a few basic stages of their careers. There’s the early stage, usually before they make it big, where their entire repertoire is filled with covers of their favourite songs, and songs very much inspired by the songs they’ve covered. Then they hit on something reasonably original and run with it, which it what will get them really noticed. Then in the later stages, they run out of original ideas, and end up repeating what they’ve done before, or go back to the early stage of riffing on other bands’ ideas.

With Wolfmother’s first album, they didn’t seem to need to any further than the first stage to get noticed. They didn’t do anything particularly interesting with it, but they did what they did do very well. They sounded like teenage boys messing about in a garage, working out how they could rip off classic rock gods such as Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull, and most notably, fellow Australians AC/DC. But you didn’t mind, because it was all done with a sense of fun, almost ironically, and rather than feeling unoriginal, it felt like a massive tribute to the work of rock gods of yesteryear.

Sadly, Cosmic Egg just doesn’t feel the same. Wolfmother have moved out of the first stage of being a band that they fit in so comfortably. But in doing this, they’ve missed the second stage originality completely and gone straight to the slight staleness of stage three, obviously trying to recapture what they had with their self-titled debut release. I don’t want to be too harsh though; Cosmic Egg has been (to use a reviewer cliché) a difficult second album for the band. Two of the three original members left the band, leaving only the lead singer. This may actually explain for the lack of ideas, or at very least where the new inspiration came from for Cosmic Egg.

Here’s the thing, where their fist album reeked of classic rock, this one actually seems to borrow heavily from grunge rockers Audioslave. Oh, the Wolfmother sound is still there, and there are still nods to some classic bands like The Rolling Stones and again Led Zeppelin, but they no longer are the only influence. Distorted Bass leads the charge on this impression, but it’s also a case of the vocal styling on a lot of the songs. At times vocalist Stockdale drops his classic rock wail, and takes on more of a grunge sensibility, which just seems out of place with the Wolfmother image.

Cosmic Egg is a pretty average album. It’s not bad by any stretch of the word, but you feel it has shown you all it’s got by track 5, and the rest of it just feels dull and not as worth your time. If you are a Wolfmother fan, you should still enjoy it, just don’t expect it to have the same youthful exuberance as their first album did. Sadly, these mediums of the rock world seem to have chosen the wrong bands to channel this time.

Cuando no puedes dejar de interesarte por cualquier estilo musical, sintiendo una atracción inmediata, independientemente del campo que sea, y, encima, te apasionas como un niño puede sorprenderse por alguna novedad vital, es difícil decidir cual es tu grupo favorito. Si es difícil decidir entre muchos estilos artísticos, ¡cómo vas a poder elegir una sola banda! …
El tiempo pasa y, si analizas un poco tus hábitos, puedes llegar a intentar acercarte a lo que verdaderamente te gusta. Y esto es lo que me di cuenta hace unas semanas.
Siempre que a uno le apetece ambientar musicalmente un feliz estado de ánimo acaba recurriendo a las mismas grabaciones. Y, lo peor de todo esto, es que no sabes a ciencia cierta si es de verdad lo que más te llega, te apasiona … Pero en los actos habituales podemos hallar algo aproximado.
A lo que íbamos, está muy bien el nuevo disco de Pearl Jam. Nirvana, de quienes han reeditado su concierto en el Reading de 1992 y Dave Ghrol prueba nuevas cosas con John Paul Jones de Led Zeppelin, marcaron un antes y un después. Los primeros Red Hot Chili Peppers eran crudamente jugosos. Los primeros tres discos de Jamiroquai fueron dignos herederos del Stevie Wonder mas funky. No estuvo mal el intento de super grupo de Audioslave .. pero no se perdonará el disco R&B de Chris Cornell …

Por todo esto y mucho más, y después del recuento del escrutinio… decido que, actualmente, el grupo que más me apasiona son Rage Against The Machine! Miento!! Actualmente no, hace ya unos cuantos años. Cuando tuve la oportunidad de descubrirlos en la etapa rock/pop/primertelectro de La Bôite 135 con el gran Antonio Rodriguez Morales, mas conocido como Tony “Don Disco” Morales. Gracias a sus inconmensurables sesiones uno guarda algunos de sus mejores recuerdos acompañados de su banda sonora.

RATM … que decir … buenos músicos?? … no se haría justicia … Muy buenos y entusiastas instrumentistas, teniendo como mayor virtud la creatividad y el riesgo a la hora de acompañar ritmos tan rockeros con efectos propios de la electrónica. La mejor base bajo-batería, los sonidos imposibles de Tom Morello y las rimas – sustituidas por los berrinches más escandalosos desde Cobain – de Zac De La Rocha- puede presentarse como una definición óptima. Luego súmales su discurso político y su denuncia mordaz -quizás excesiva en ocasiones- y, siempre desde mi opinión -no soy nadie para sentar cátedra, es sólo mi punto de vista- dan con una combinación inmejorable.

Como tampoco no soy muy experto en la escritura, mejor dejar un video para ver otro atractivo … la imagen … así arranca posiblemente mi disco favorito … y lo escribo “por puro placer” …

Veyr angry today. Time to chill. Enjoy a really slick, smooth Audioslave tune. If your head isn’t bobbing to that bass line, you are probably dead.

Back when I was a pre-teen/teen my chonies were all hot for Chris Cornell. For obvious reasons…he is a rock star. I just wanted him to rock scream at me and sing Buckcherry “Crazy Bitch” and I’d get all tatted and stuff. We would be the next Pam/Tommy. Yeah…that didn’t happen. Mostly because I was under 18. I decided to showcase this hot piece of older ass today.

But then again, some are.

This weekend was nothing short of eventful. We had my sister’s baby shower. My grandmother (dad’s side) came in town for just the event. In most families, this is usually a good thing. But in mine, the fact that she came in town just begins the constant bitter taste in my mouth…

To say the least, she’s a very difficult person. Her motives have a double motive for something she wants. It’s never actually anything that pertains to us (the rest of the family); but to the naked eye, she seems like the world’s best grandmother.

Every time that side of the family gets together, give it a three hour time span and my grandmother will compare me to be like my other cousin. It’s never going to happen, but grandma never ceases to stop. So every family gathering I have to endure the suggestions from her to be like my weird cousin. Forget all her flaws Katie, and just be like her!

Anyway, to wrap this section up, my sister’s babyshower went quite well. Mom was a little trashed going into it, but she was sober coming out.

This weekend I head off to Houston. To answer why…it’s to visit Stephanie. I’m semi-excited. She is definitely way more excited than I’d ever be. Thinking about this whole thing just scares the shit out of me. I’m kind of in this whole mess because I have any real reason NOT to be (–okay that’s a lie). I feel like I should do this one visit at least. Then maybe a couple of weeks afterwards I should just end it and say, “Let’s be friends.” I don’t see this relationship going anywhere. I just like having someone to talk with. I enjoy my “freedom” way more than being tied down at the moment. Sure it’d be nice to have someone there for Christmas and Valentine’s and whatever other love-dove holiday may come around, but in the end…it’s really not worth it. She’s not the girl I see myself in a long distance relationship with. She’s not the girl I see spending my whole life with. She’s just someone I use to date–I use to have strong feelings for. Now I feel weird saying “Babe” or hearing 1,000,000 times that she can’t wait to see me. She’s like she should have been when we first dated.

I feel like all this is just one hour too late.

When I first heard that Chris Cornell (former lead singer of Soundgarden/Audioslave/Temple of the Dog) was in the makes of creating a hip-hop album with TImbaland last year, I, like the common public mocked the idea. It was only until 2 weeks ago that I purchased the album because I needed some new tunes to add to my repertoire. I’ve always been a huge fan of Cornell’s so my curiousity peaked on that Sunday afternoon and I got ahold of this gem. Half a dozen songs stuck with me from the record “Scream” that I’m sure at some point in time I will end up discussing them on here. However, the track “Long Gone” makes my first “hip hop” blog spiel here. The song can strike an emotion to anyone who is at a loss of something in their life, assuming that they actually pay attention to lyrics. For all you hardcore rock n’ roll juggernauts, including myself, we can let our guard down and accept it for what it is: a beautiful song. Yah its hip-hoppy and kind of sappy, but again, we are all music lovers and I, for one, appreciate the hell out of the album and this song. Any artist that can step away from their comfort zone and do something creative and non-traditional immediately gains my respect. Rock on Chris and lets get a Soundgarden reunion already!

From my most favouritest song(est?) in the whole world. I Am the Highway by Audioslave. When I’m sad, it gives me hope. When I’m happy, it takes me higher.

En los últimos días, navegando por blogs y portales de música me he llevado una impresión traumática (espero que temporal) sobre el que todavía es y fue uno de los iconos más importantes del rock alternativo y del grunge en general; Chris Cornell (20 de julio de 1964, Seattle), el que fue líder de las desaparecidas Soundgarden y Audioslave. El caso es que Cornell se esta desviado en los últimos años del “leitmotiv” del rock alternativo: El poder y el hacer libremente música con el mínimo apoyo ni las exigencias de las grandes discográficas; para centrarse en una carrera en solitario cada vez más “resultona” con la que parece buscar el éxito inmediato entre los top de las listas de éxitos más comerciales, a base de sonar repetitivamente en las radiofórmulas.

Parece mentira que Chris Cornell haya llegado a ese punto, cuando fue el mismo el fundador de Soundgarden, una banda realmente creativa que elaboro junto a otras grupos como Nirvana, Pearl Jam o Alice in Chains el género grunge, la fusión entre el punk y el hard rock que triunfo en la década de los 90 con letras melancólicas. Su estilo era ese pero lo que le diferenciaba de las demás era la voz de Cornell. Una voz única y potente con la expresaba una gran energía entre los distintos y distorsionados ritmos que imprimían sus otros componentes: Kim Thayil (guitarra), Ben Sheperd (bajo) y Matt Cameron (batería); dejaba notaren suma su influencia en bandas precursoras como Black Sabbath o Led Zeppelin. Con estos mimbres Soundgarden alcanzó  (después de varios abandonos e incorporaciones durante la buena acogida de la crítica especializada de sus primeros discos: Ultramega OK y Louder than Love) el reconocimiento mundial con el disco Superunknow (1994), en el que se pueden destacar sencillos como Black Hole Sun, Spoonman o Shadows in the Sun, con letras que aluden a temas como el suicidio o la drogadicción. Todo y cuando tres años antes, la repentina fama del Nevermind Nirvana le  “había robado” a Soundgarden la debida atención simultanea de su segundo trabajo, Badmotorfinger.

Curiosamente, la mayor parte de todo ese éxito vino a la par acompañada por la simultanea colaboración de Chris Cornell en la elaboración eventual del grupo Temple of the Dog y su correspondiente y único disco del mismo nombre. Esta banda surge exclusivamente de la idea de los miembros de Mother Love Bone para rendir homenaje póstumo al que fue su cantante y también gran amigo del Cornell Andrew Wood.

Soundgarden y nuestro protagonista continuaron su carrera con el que fue su tercer y último disco Down On the Upside. Un éxito destacable, pero menor del esperado tras lo ocurrido con Superunknow; provocaron a partir de ese momento, un punto de inflexión en el que surgieron diferencias musicales entre sus componentes sobre cuál debía ser la línea de identificación de la banda. El propio Cornell como líder del grupo explica muy bien la causa de la final de la disolución consecuente de 1997: “Soundgarden era una democracia: Si uno estaba convencidísimo de que su idea era la que había que usar, los otros tres acababan haciendo caso. El problema es que en lo que se refiere a la expresión musical, a veces, el proceso de comunicación y votación y discusión, crea una situación en que ya es demasiado tarde”.

En 2001, Chris Cornell comenzaba una nueva etapa en su carrera como vocalista de grupos rockeros con la formación de Audioslave, que quedo compuesta con la unión de la mayoría de los antiguos miembros de Rage Against the Machine: El guitarrista Tom Morello, el bajo Tim Commeford y el batería Brad Wilk. La conocida banda Rage Against the Machine (en español, algo así como ”Ira en Contra de la Maquina”) se podría identificar coloquialmente dentro del género musical del rap metal (utiliza bases propias del metal en general para ir desarrollando sobre ellas las rimas características del rap); en este ámbito, deben en parte su reconocimiento a la manera en la que expresaban a través del contenido de sus letras una fuerte disonancia ideológica anti – sistema y contraria a las injusticias sociales. Con Audioslave esta característica desapareció de la mano de Cornell (esto no quiere decir que la banda no realizase simbólicamente actos ideológicos reivindicativos o benéficos; de hecho, en 2005 fue pionera en ser el primer grupo de música estadounidense en realizar un concierto en la Cuba de Fidel Castro). el nuevo grupo también va alternar en sus temas y álbumes particularidades propias del genero metal y grunge, con otras inspiradas en la faceta de las baladas rock, que Cornell estaba desarrollando paralelamente en su carrera en solitario; aun así, en todas sus canciones la actuación de Cornell sigue siendo propia, sobresaliente; y con el gran añadido de los casi imposibles riffs y solos que le hicieron popular en su anterior banda a Tom Morello, como uno de los guitarristas en activo más destacados del rock en general.

Con este estilo cercano a lo comercial, Audioslave fue recibido por la crítica y los fans como una fusión entre R.A.T.M y Soundgarden: en algunos casos positiva, como por ejemplo al llegar a los puestos más altos de las listas de ventas, con dos discos de platino (Audioslave, 2002 y Out of Exile, 2005) y uno de oro (Revelations, 2006); mientras que en otros negativa, sobre todo los críticos tachan al grupo de soso y repetitivo con unas letras con poco sentido. Aún así, sea como fuese  Chris Cornell terminó por abandonar Audioslave alegando otra vez ”conflictos personales y diferencias musicales” en 2007.

Cornell lo volvió hacer, dejó unos grupos que estaban en alza, para centrarse en su carrera en solitario que ya había combinado en tiempos de Soundgarden y que ahora retomaba de nuevo. En vedad, no se arrepiente de haber actuado de esa forma: “Estar en agrupaciones es algo que he disfrutado cada vez que lo he hecho, pero el tiempo invertido haciendo eso es tiempo perdido para hacer mis propios discos y experimentar con música de cualquier forma que sienta que me gusta”.  

En cualquier caso, los trabajos individuales de Chris Cornell han pasado desapercibidos en el panorama musical, en gran medida por abandonar por momentos el rock con esas ”experimentaciones” que están musicalmente (no a nivel vocal) tan fuera de lugar como sucede en el caso de la versión de Billie Jean o la de Ave María. El colmo de todo esto ha estado en la incorporación en su último trabajo Scream (2008) del rapero de Hip-Hop y R&B Timbaland, conocido también por producir y colaborar con Madonna y Nelly Furtado entre otros artistas de la escena Pop actual. Unos artistas, a los que tal vez les concuerde legítimamente mejor las bases repetitivas y canciones con escaso contenido para desarrollar con sus características musicales; que en el caso de Cornell no encajan, le hacen estar  dentro de la canción en un segundo plano en el que se desaprovecha esa capacidad vocal tan comentada anteriormente.

En un momento, Chris Cornell se mostro al público ilusionado con esta posibilidad que le ha dado el propio Timbaland para innovarse musicalmente: Es una experiencia increíblemente satisfactoria porque hay mucha diversidad musical en el escenario”. Pero poco a poco se está dando cuenta de las constantes críticas, sobre todo las de sus seguidores más veteranos, que le han hecho rehacer junto a  Jordon Zadorozny, (ex líder de Blinker the Star y productor de Courtney Love) una de esas últimas canciones, Never Far Away, cuyo resultado es realmente esperanzador; e incluso dejando abierta la posibilidad un futuro remake mas rockero del propio disco Scream.

Si ya lo dice el dicho:”Rectificar es de sabios“; a lo que añado… y más cuando has sido durante años un icono, un referente en aquello en lo que siempre has destacado.

Si us dic Carlos Sáinz, quina frase us ve al cap, immediatament? Sense discussió, el famós “Trata de arrancarlo, por Dios”, del seu copilot, el mític Luis Moya, oi que sí?

Doncs bé, és la frase que tinc més ganes de cridar- i suposo que com jo, molta més gent- en acabar els partits del Nàstic aquesta temporada. Tens la sensació que l’equip, quan s’hi posa, crea ocasions i genera perill, però que, un cop es posa per davant al marcador, o bé es conforma amb poc, o bé li fallen les forces, i al final, passa el que passa. Ja portem 9 jornades de Lliga i fa la sensació que al Nàstic la falta un puntet d’alguna cosa per poder estar a dalt. Que no acaba d’arrencar, vaja.

Si el problema és la fam, l’ambició, com va dir el president dissabte, la cosa està fomuda, perquè aquest problema és de difícil solució en una plantilla veterana. I no s’entén, perquè no es pot dir que durant la setmana el ritme d’entrenament sigui baix, més aviat al contrari. És com si després d’estar estalviant durant una bona temporada per anar a un restaurant car, de luxe, et conformes amb menjar un parell de plats quan has pagat ja per tot el menú degustació.

Per cert, en el tema de l’ambició, crec que els retrets no s’han de fer en  públic, perquè  l’únic que fomenten és el mal rotllo. La roba bruta es renta a casa.

Si el problema del Nàstic, en canvi, és l’estat físic, la cosa té solució, perquè és normal que a una plantilla veterana li costi més agafar el ritme de competició, però un cop arriba a posar-se a velocitat de creuer, és molt més fiable que no pas una de més jove. Així doncs, plena confiança en el Patricio Pérez, que els fa suar de valent.

Aquest cap de setmana, per cert, el partit és molt més important del que la gent es pensa. Fins ara, el Nàstic no ha estat capaç de vèncer cap equip dels favorits a pujar, com la Reial, el Numància o l’Hèrcules. I dissabte, torna a tenir una bona oportunitat de demostrar que de debò se l’ha de tenir en compte. Si no ho fa, podríem començar a pensar que, malauradament, és com aquell noi que feia de Brandon a “Sensación de Vivir” que prometia molt, però que al final es va estancar i va acabar sent carn de telefilm.

Per això, perquè dóni un cop d’autoritat aquest dissabte a Huelva, i no haguem de repetir el “Trata de arrancarlo, por Dios”, la cançó d’avui és “Gasoline”, dels Audioslave. Esperem que, aquest cop, el Nàstic no es quedi sense benzina abans d’arribar a la meta.

I did not decide to take up running because I enjoyed it.  In fact, I am convinced that the reason so many runners try to get everyone they know to take up running is because misery loves company.

But I knew that running would be good for my health and for my weight loss goals, and the goal to run 13.1 miles in the Outback Steakhouse Distance Classic on Thanksgiving Day gave me the proper motivation to get a real running schedule on track.

That doesn’t mean that I’ve ever enjoyed it.

But I must admit, this morning came close.  This was my longest training run yet, 6 miles (6.2 by the course I laid out).  The weather was a perfect 51 degrees and I did not break pace the entire run.  I finished in 1:03 which was a 10:11 pace… faster than I have been running my 3.1 mile course!  The run felt great and I truly felt for the first time I could easily go 13 miles.

The other aspect of the run that was enjoyable was that it was something I could control.  After a tough weekend of college football, and anticipating another rough one with both my Jaguars and my fantasy football team today, running is something that I alone have control of.  It feels a little empowering, and I can see how runners truly enjoy that aspect of the sport.

Tomorrow is a rest day, and this week will be a real unique challenge with my travel schedule.  Let’s hope I can make my training schedule fit!

El Instituto de Cultura de Baja California y el Centro Cultural Tijuana han unido esfuerzos para traer a la ciudad espectáculos dentro de lo que el ICBC denomina Festival de Octubre y el Cecut ‘Ciclo Cubano’, y uno de estos espectáculos es el concierto que ofrecerá el músico X Alfonso, quien la noche del miércoles entrante estará en la Sala de Espectáculos del Cecut con sus fusiones musicales que van del guaguancó al hip-hop, pasando por el jazz, blues y danzón.
Compositor, cantante, tecladista y video-artista cubano, X Alfonso estará por primera vez en Tijuana, con un show que incluirá sonidos electrónicos y proyección de visuales, los cuales son autoría de él mismo.  Egresado de la Escuela Nacional de Arte de Cuba, X Alfonso inició su carrera en 1990 cuando formó parte del grupo Síntesis, el cual posteriormente dejó para unirse al Havana al lado de otros músicos jóvenes isleños. Pero su camino recién comenzaba y en 1993 emprendió la aventura como solista, que le ha llevado a recorrer importantes escenarios a nivel internacional, de países como Canarias, España, Panamá, México, Italia, Austria, Yugoslavia, Holanda, Alemania, Brasil y Puerto Rico.

Asimismo, ha tenido la oportunidad de colaborar con otros destacados músicos, como Sting, Audioslave, Bebe, Carlos Varela, Santiago Feliú y Cibeles, entre otros; y a casi 20 años de trayectoria le anteceden cinco discos, siendo la más reciente producción la titulada ‘Revoluxión’.

Eu nunca fui um grande fã de Soundgarden. Ela sempre foi para mim uma daquelas bandas que eu escutava de boa em um bar ou numa festa, mas nunca em casa. Em relação ao Rage Against The Machine, a história era outra. Eu me identificava com a proposta e o som da banda.

Em 2000, começaram os boatos sobre uma união entre o vocalista do Soundgarden com os músicos do Rage Against que havia fechado suas portas com a saída do De LA Rocha. Eu estranhei por um tempo já que as duas bandas musicalmente falando, só tinham o peso como características parecidas.

Em 2001 a banda, batizada de Audioslave, lança seu primeiro álbum e naquela época ainda existia o prazer de se comprar um álbum na loja. Na metade do álbum eu já estava de boca aberta, porque eu não esperava algo tão bom e viciante. A potente voz de Chris Cornell com os fantásticos riffs e solos de Tom Morello criaram um álbum espetacular, digno de estar na coleção de qualquer pessoa que curta um bom som.

3 anos se passaram desde o primeiro álbum foi lançado, e o Audioslave lança a sua segunda bolacha que manteve a qualidade. Mas, o terceiro álbum, lançado um ano depois já não tinha sido tão bom quanto os anteriores. nesta época os rumores eram de que a fonte criativa havia secado devido a problemas entre os músicos.

“divergências musicais” e “conflitos pessoais” foram as declarações de Cornell após sair do Audioslave em 2007. Apesar de que nunca mais veremos estes caras destruindo tudo como uma banda, o Audioslave deu aulas durante a sua existência.
