No, these are not videos of terrible American Idol auditions where people embarrass themselves with their utter lack of skill and talent.

These are videos of American Idol audition rejects who were invited back to perform during the actual show because of the impressions they made during their auditions.

William Hung

The first of his kind, William Hung made such an impression on the American Idol  judges and fans that his audition video became an internet sensation. His speech about giving it his best and not having regrets earned him much respect, and even a performance during the show.

After his American Idol claim to fame, William Hung became a pop star in China. Go figure.

Renaldo Lapuz

Renaldo burst onto the American Idol scene in 2008 in his self-made white suit and cape outfit. Armed with his own composition, he sang the same 4 lines over and over again for 5 minutes. His performance was so captivating that the judges even got up to join the act.

And since you can’t just watch Renaldo once and be satisfied, he performed again during the American Idol finale that season.

Renaldo even performed the national anthem at a baseball game in Texas, doning his now signature white suit and cape.

American Idol became a worldwide phenomenon with franchises and copycats in dozens of countries, including this one. I think it’s Kazakhstan.

What does this all mean?

Achieving success through American Idol does not require good looks and singing skill. Heck, it doesn’t even require good fashion sense. Whatever you do, be memorable. Let’s learn from the William Hungs and the Renaldo Lapuzes, and not get lost in the crowd, but stand out above it.

Would you like the chance to assist Threshold?
As I am sure you all know, Threshold do great work to prevent homelessness by providing housing advice to tenants.
The charity need the voluntary services of an actor, someone who will wear an oversized star costume which states “Be the Hope Star” along with a contact number as Threshold are launching a text messaging fundraising and awareness campaign for Christmas.

The idea is that donors can text a number, donate €2 and they receive a Christmas stars wallpaper to their mobile saying “Keeping the hope star shining for Threshold this Christmas”.
Obviously their resources are stretched to the limit due to the recession so this campaign is extremely important.

To launch and promote the text number, Threshold would like to find their “star”, the beauty of the idea being that the star can go into all sorts of places that posters or traditional media can’t & will bring lots of attention to the campaign because its quirky and the star would also be interactive.

They would be looking for a tall actor with a outgoing personality. The volunteer would ideally be available to be involved in a press launch on 8^th December and to wear the star around town on some of the shopping evenings coming up to Christmas e.g. on 17^th December we’re in Blanchardstown Shopping centre with a choir fundraising

Well, lets just say the last few days have been eventful. Let me tell you.

The day after I wrote my last entry, what happened was we went out that evening for dinner and we saw a leaflet posted up for a festival taking place and Auditions for 2 days after, Father said no straight out. He hates us singing for the money. We were all gutted, but you know what happened?! When we got home, Mother gave the person a ring and they said its not a cash prize. She told Father and he said he’ll think about it. So we kept our fingers crossed he would say yes.

And the very next day…He said, YES! But he said if the prize is cash, we are not to accept it, as (according to Father) Rich people don’t like singing for the money. So we rung up and said he’d like us to audition for him. That same day! So at 3:00pm that day, we went to the place where the festival was getting held in about 5 weeks time, and as we sung, I watched his face at the same time. I could tell he wasn’t SO sure…So at the end of the song, I whispered to Mother “He isn’t sure.”, so we planned to do a 2 piece harmony, which we did and I watched his face, and I could tell he liked it. So when we finished the song, he said straight after to us “That was very good…”. Our faces lit up and he told us there on the spot “Your through to the contest.” . We were overjoyed! So that night we planned what we were going to sing. We planned to Harmonise ‘Do Re Mi’ and we chose our Exit song as ‘So long, farewell’. We are allowed to pick two songs.

The next day at school, we had to go straight to rehersal and we managed to arrange a 2 piece Do Re Mi harmony which came out nice, but it still needs ALOT of work. We changed our So Long Farewell routine a bit, that needs work too. We have lots to sort out for the festival, which is in 5 weeks time. About 1 week before it starts, we go for rehersal with the other people entering and get our order of appearance and all that. Its all fun! We have to reherse 3 times a week, once on a weekend and twice in the week.

Anyway, The good news was broke by some bad today after school. Father got a phone call From Uncle Max(good, right?) BUT he told us our house has been taken over….by some people from the army, And he has been in there apparently, he says all our stuff has been chucked out, apart from the beds and shelves. I was shocked to hear. He told me, Kurt, Louisa, Friedrich and Liesl and mother too. Marta and Gretl are too young to hear it, and it would upset worse than us. It was awful to hear. We’re vowed not to tell any of our friends, or anyone from the outside world about this, as they may turn on us. I’m am extremly upset about this, as this means we can’t return home to Austria after the war and live in that house again…! But we can still go back and visit when the war is over…! America is nice, just not as nice as Austria. Everyone agrees.

Then, after that, to cheer ourselves up, we cooked a nice meal together, apart from Father and the younger girls, we helped make Snitchzel, and baked cake for dessert. It actually took our minds off what happened in Austria, and we enjoyed it, and never thought about it after that! But I could tell Father still had it on his mind, he was acting as if he wasn’t bothered, but he was, I could clearly see it on his face. He tried to hide it though. But we didn’t talk about that, we just talked about the festival and all that. We are all very excited for that, and forthcoming rehersals too.

Anyway, I must go to sleep!! I must keep myself off those books at night…!

OPEN auditions are being held at The Lowry Hotel on 27 November 2009 for a position as model builder at the new LEGOLAND Discovery Centre.

Faced with millions of LEGO bricks when they arrive, auditionees will need to show how skilled they are at building LEGO models by creating an animal model in just fifteen minutes. The successful builders will then pass to the second stage of the auditions when they will need to create a famous face out of LEGO.

The audition aims to find a potential model builder who is skilled enough to be responsible for developing new features, exhibitions and building new models as well as working with the thousands of children expected to visit the attraction.

Neil Crittenden, general manager of LEGOLAND Discovery Centre said: We are holding open auditions to find the most talented and enthusiastic model builders. It is an unusual job available and we hope to meet some LEGO fanatics from the North West. We are looking for someone with a great sense of fun and though that holding an open audition would be the ideal way to find the perfect candidate.

The exciting new role will be based at the unique indoor attraction opening in March 2010.

Described as stepping into the biggest box of LEGO in the world, the attraction will host a unique MINILAND, which the successful model builder will need to create and maintain, as well as a number of other features including offer an exciting themed ride, a tour of a LEGO factory where children can help make their own LEGO brick. Plus there will be lots of opportunities to create their own models, race LEGO cars and areas for birthday parties.

The auditions will be held in meeting room seven and eight from 10am – 5pm at The Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

The tryouts are this Friday, and you need to preregister online. So ramp up your building skills and try out.

The JYP auditions had hit the states with a bang! It wasn’t surprising since stars such as 2pm and the Wondergirls made their stamp on the USA music scene. It reminds me of the time when everyone rushed to YG Entertainment after 2NE1 came out. Filling up forums about the how-to’s on the auditioning. But step aside YG and SM. JYP has definitely shown great business tactics here in the states.

For one, who actually goes to Jonas Brother’s Concerts? Girls, tweenies and…yep more girls. The Wondergirl’s main target were girls, probably younger or teenage girls. As girls probably know girls have this fandom thing that when they get into something it suddenly is their life. I don’t think this is the reason why JYP targeted young girls but it defiantly wasn’t a dumb thing since ‘Nobody’ is relatively a big hit in America compared to other “success” stories in America. And you can’t talk about ‘Nobody’ without mentioning the dance. It was a craze. It can be compared to superman or chicken noodle soup. Even if you didn’t like the song, if you knew the dance it was just too addicting to not do it. Almost like how the ‘Tell Me’ dance was such a craze in Korea.

He set base in America and has actually produced for relatively big hiphop people like lil jon and such. He is known as Asia’s number one producer and honestly I can’t argue. He’s a smart guy and he knows how to play the game. His biggest creation Bi Rain is not failing him one bit. Dubbed now a “Hollywood Star” supposedly, Rain could be the first big Asian market star to make it in the USA. That is defiantly something to be cocky about. Though I will say J Tune will not be as big or as great as JYP Entertainment for I think Rain is not all that great of a business man, well as much as our dear Mr. Park, expect great things from him.

One of the things I believe that made JYP so big in America is the Wondergirls of course. He started out small and honestly I don’t even know how he got the gig with the Jonas Brothers. Small radio shows and video uploads on youtube, which seems like the way to go. 2Pm, 2Am and the Wondergirls sporting their own glowing youtube page. Interaction with fans and a costless exposure overseas. With around 1 million hits on one video it just shows how popular his groups are. However, to compare to group giants like DBSK or BoA can he compete?

Yes, BoA’s American Album I believe did a good job here in America. But not as big of an impact as Wondergirl’s Nobody. Even though I’m totally sick of hearing it already. I don’t even want Tell Me or So Hot anymore. Write a new song for them JYP!!!! NOW! before the whole world gets bored with them.

Their Motown look is what’s hot now. I just wish they had the same sound as “motown.” All glitz and glamour can only get you so far. And I honestly believe hard work and determination can only get you just so far. Natural talent should also be an ingredient. Every member has their own charm. If it’s just their “character” in the lime light or not. Character is what they have.

2Pm made us fall in love with them through shows like Wild Bunny and Hot Blood with their dear fellow One Day loves 2Am. 3 members spoke perfect English and 1 spoke Thai to a pin. Honestly, Nickhun was 2pm’s own Sandara Park, in Thailand of course. Their image of big beefy guys who spin and flip on stage, who can hate that? Their style of acrobatics is crossing over to other artist’s performances too and it’s defiantly not a bad thing.

With the controversy with JaeBum and his myspace comments, I don’t want to say that’s why 2pm is doing so well now, but it’s safe to mention it of course. Their lovely leader in the states due to “anti-Korean comments” what better time to make a comeback? NOW! of course. This story is sad of course and I’m not trying to make light of it, but can you deny this, though depressing, was also good exposure even if it wasn’t intended.

Whether it be the luck of the draw or just having great connections, JYP will take over the world. Now that he has stepped his foot inside the American market if he keeps at it there’s no pushing him out.

It is my great pleasure to announce that our glorious voice teacher, Barbara Grant, will be taking over the reins of Camerata from next year! [applause]

Barbara is busily preparing for next year and she would like some information & help from all of us.

Firstly, I have volunteered to handle Camerata Auditions in Week 8. These will happen at lunchtimes, so just drag your friends along to M1 and I will hear them. Group auditions are encouraged!

We will also head over to WIS for auditions and it would great for Camerata to sing Siyahamba for their assembly. (Time TBD but I expect it will be Friday morning). Any Year 9s able to stay behind to help with auditions?

I am back from the Carolina Crown November camp! YAYY!

It was so much fun. I can not wait to go to the December camp! Plus then I will also have Tyler, Kristin and Brad coming with us, PARTY!
But I met some great people will at the camp and learned some amazing work. I have movement to work on so if anyone knows where I can take some Saturday dance classes or anything let me know =]

But I’m going to go back to working on sponsorship stuff so I can make sure I can afford it if I make it =]

I was browsing through my entries on this website from over the past couple of months, and I thought I should do some follow-ups to them. Yes, I still think I am in love with the beautiful Hayley Williams, yes, I still find Danny Devito hilarious, yes, people still seem to think I look like Jesse MacCartney (although some Justin Beiber comparisons have been popping up here and there, unfortunately), and most importantly, YES, I still want to be in Ghostbusters 3. Very much.

You guys might remember over the summer, I made a satirical post and video where I fake auditioned for Oscar Barrett in Ghostbusters 3. I was being all obnoxious, and horrible. Actually a pretty good video, if you ask me. and ever since I did that, I’ve been becoming more active in the Ghostbusters community, and overall becoming a bigger fan. I mean, you could probably call me a Ghostbusters nerd at this point. I’ve always liked the Ghostbusters, but its really kicked into overdrive since the summer. I have 4 GB shirts now, actually, and a belt buckle I wear almost every day. I spent my Halloween watching Ghostbusters alone. I recently started playing Ghostbusters the game for the second time. I just finished organizing the entire collection of original, vintage Ghostbusters trading cards. You all get the point.

At the same time, I’ve been thinking a lot about how awesome it would actually be to REALLY be cast in the movie. Not even just as Oscar, but as anybody. I keep saying “REUBEN, YOU ARE AN IDIOT AND THAT CRAP WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO YOU!”, and I have been moving on. However, the subject has literally been popping up in my dreams with great frequency, which, to quote Zoolander, is kind of whack.

On the other hand, I’ve been considering the fact that out of all movies right now who are casting, I have about a 0% chance of even getting considered to audition. But with Ghostbusters 3, I feel I might have about a 0.001% chance, which is definitely infinite times better than a 0% chance. The reason I say this is because repeatedly, Dan Aykroyd has said he hopes to get completely unknown actors to be in the movie, because they are cheap.

You guys may not have noticed, but I am completely unknown. Plus, at this naive age, I would work for very, very, very, very cheap. Especially in a movie like that.

Plus, to be arrogant and pretentious for a moment, I feel I truly could play the son of Peter Venkman very well.

Now, I have always had dreams of fame and show business shoved in the back of my head, but I never intend to pursue them as my only plan in life, because I don’t want to face dissappointment. Really, I want to grow up to become a script-writer for movies, and I never really expect to be in the movies themself. However, if ever given the chance to act in the movies, I would never, ever, ever turn an opportunity like that down.

Not even being sarcastic, I go to sleep and have dreams about being in movies with Ben Stiller and Seth Rogen and Will Ferrell almost every night. I wake up, say “No way, jose”, and clear my head and go on with the rest of my day. I mean, let’s face it, the odds of being in movies are really stacked against me as a guy who lives in WISCONSIN. My best bet would be to head to L.A. as soon as I graduate, and hope for the best. That could go horribly, though.

So as far as even thinking about trying to pursue a serious movie career right now, I don’t even begin to do that. My only exception would be Ghostbusters 3, and if I could ever get any more information and details as to how to get in on that, let me tell you right now, I would be all means pursure it.

I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHERE TO START, THOUGH! Are they going to have an open casting call, or are they going to hire some sort of casting director to choose some lucky people with connections. Plus, if they even HAD an open casting call, I would probably not even know about it, because I live in WISCONSIN.

So what is a guy to do? Does anybody reading this personally know Dan Aykroyd or Harold Ramis? If so, please send them here. This time, I am actually being kind of serious. I really don’t have any expectations of this going anywhere, but if I don’t even try to get my foot in the door, that 0.001% chance will go back to a zero.

As far as open casting calls, if there will be any of those, if anybody has heard anything about that, please also tell me.

As a matter of fact, if anybody has ANY information that could put me in the right direction, write me a comment. Any information at all will be a help.

All I know is that I REALLY want this, and I’ve thought about it. I’ve decided this really would be the coolest thing to ever happen to me in the off chance that I get involved with it in any capacity. I really love the Ghostbusters. I can’t even begin to explain how awesome it would be to be in it, even for 6 seconds.

So there, I said it. Let me once again reiterate that I don’t really expect for this to go anywhere, but I am still just going to throw it out there. For anybody involved with the movie, I want you to know that I would be willing and ready to get involved with this movie, for next to zero dollars. Just know that. There is a Reuben if you need him.

For that matter, I also feel that Danny Devito would make a good Slimer. Thank you for your time.

E’ passato qualche giorno dal lancio di Virgilio Sing Ring, l’iniziativa di Sing Ring, start-up del gruppo Digital Magics e di Virgilio per la gestione delle lyrics (pubblicate finalmente in modo del tutto legale) e di un innovativo karaoke online. Su Virgilio Sing Ring, sono già online un milione di testi musicali e più di trecentocinquanta brani (500 entro Natale) per il video karaoke.

Le canzoni per il karaoke di Sing Ring (voce e musica) sono tutte registrate dal vivo ex-novo in alta qualità, permettendo di cantare seguendo la voce registrata, cantare solamente sulla base musicale, o suonare sulla base del testo cantato. Intanto, mentre il brano va avanti, le parole sincronizzate appaiono sul player.

Sing Ring promette grandi sviluppi nella direzione di un sistema sempre più completo di gestione e condivisione sociale della musica cantata e suonata. E naturalmente, Sing Ring si presta a diventare piattaforma di comunicazione per i brand, grazie a video contest in cui gli utenti reinterpretano brani famosi associati alla pubblicità; o si cimentano in nuove creazioni. La funzione sociale e lo spirito di aggregazione espressi dalla musica cantata sono una grande forza, la cui personalizzazione è solo questione di fantasia.

Per avere un’idea di come il Singing Marketing sia già una realtà, basta dare un’occhiata al celeberrimo karaoke di massa organizzato da T-Mobile a Trafalgar Square; o al “format” Singing in the car lanciato dal navigatore Sony nav-u in Giappone.
