<p style="text-align:left;">Si potrà vedere o rivedere da oggi sui canali satellitari questo piccolo gioiello che, stranamente, parte della critica italiana non ha gradito (MyMovies parla di “gioco complesso e spesso artificioso di incastri”, Ciak di “film riuscito solo parzialmente”, Il Foglio di “retorica”).</p>
<p>Il lavoro di <strong>Fatih Akin</strong> (già incoronato giustamente a Berlino con l’Orso d&#8217;Oro per il bellissimo <em>La sposa turca</em>) ha ottenuto meritoriamente al Festival di Cannes il riconoscimento come migliore sceneggiatura : tante storie, apparentemente diverse e slegate, si intersecano e si intrecciano per poi ricomporsi (lentamente ma fluidamente e coerentemente) fino a divenire un&#8217;unica storia. Una storia che coinvolge ed emoziona totalmente lo spettatore, che si immerge in essa come non sempre accade.</p>
<p><em><strong>Ai confini del paradiso</strong></em> (ma è preferibile il titolo originario  <em>Dall&#8217;altra parte</em>) è affollato da tanti personaggi, umanamente ricchi e profondi: ognuno ha una sua storia, ognuno vive un suo personale dramma… drammi che finiranno poi per unificarsi ed offrire un quadro della vita che va ben al di là di quanto ci viene raccontato.</p>
<p>Si parla di tante cose nel film: solitudine, redenzione, razzismo, contestazione, nostalgia, immigrazione, globalizzazione, sradicamento dalla propria terra, importanza del perdono, desiderio… Temi che, chi più chi meno, riguardano tutti noi e oggi più che mai attuali.</p>
<p>Una trama apparentemente non lineare che si svolge tra Germania e Turchia che potrebbe cadere nel melodramma se a sostenerla non fosse uno stile massimamente asciutto-secco-pulito, uno stile che richiama alla memoria Fassbinder o Pasolini: evitati completamente formalismi ricami divagazioni fronzoli banalità (“Fatih conferma il suo spiccato talento. Non una inquadratura inutile, fluidità del racconto esemplare”, Liberation. “Il film è di una limpidezza cristallina e conferma l’impressionante talento di Akin”, L’Unità).</p>
<p>Un intero cast (con una ben ritrovata Hanna Schygulla, sempre eccezionale) da lodare incondizionatamente contribuisce all&#8217;ottima riuscita di un prodotto intenso e profondo come pochi.</p>

2) Deleterio <a href="http://filmleo.blogosfere.it/2005/12/doppiaggio-si-d.html" target="_blank">il doppiaggio</a> che uniforma tutti i linguaggi: si perde l&#8217;intrecciarsi di turco, tedesco e inglese dell&#8217;edizione originale.</p>

<p><span style="color:#000000;">quem já experimentou os prazeres e agruras da maternidade (paternidade) sabe que não existe NADA pior que o mal que inflingem aos nossos filhos. para quem nunca experimentou calculo que consiga imaginar. quando o meu filho é agredido na escola (que deveria ser um lugar de educação) eu tento perceber onde começa e onde poderá acabar o ciclo da violência. mas quando me dizem que a criatura humana se caracteriza pela violência e essa treta toda genética explicativa do inexplicável, eu fico agoniada.  com é possível ter conseguido visitar a lua, decompôr o átomo, compôr a paixão segundo são mateus, construir o taj mahal e ao mesmo tempo ser o ser mais primitivo e intolerante com os da sua espécie?!? será o eterno (?) conflito dos opostos?!?</span></p>

<p><span style="color:#000000;">ben X é um filme-retrato de uma sociedade intolerante com a diferença, uma sociedade normalizade de bestas, de seres monstruosos, apáticos e incapazes de ver para além do óbvio. ben é um adolescente autista que vive num mundo muito particular, e que encontra no jogo de computador &#8220;archlord&#8221; a possibilidade de criar a sua &#8220;realidade&#8221;, diferente da que vive quotidianamente, de abusos e humilhações. falado em neerlandês, é o filme de estreia do realizador/ argumentista belga, nic balthazar. baseado em factos reais e construído em forma de uma espécie de documentário, ben X é um filme imperdível. o elenco é fantástico, o actor que faz de ben (greg timmermans)<strong> </strong>é maravilhoso na sua interpretação. daqueles filmes que ficam em lenta digestão. </span></p>

<p>I had very high expectations for <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatih_Ak%C4%B1n">Fatih Akin</a>&#8217;s <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0880502/">The Edge of Heaven</a> before I watched it. The reason being that his previous film <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0347048/">Head-On (Gegen Die Wand)</a> [<a href="http://couch-critics.com/2008/10/06/gegen-die-wand-head-on-fatih-akin-2004/">our review</a>] was a thoroughly entertaining and intellectually engaging work. The Edge of Heaven is slower paced, equally edgier and ultimately a more satisfying work from Akin, which left me deeply moved by the end.</p>
<p>The film is divided into three sections. The first one tells the story of Ali (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0476004/">Tuncel Kurtiz</a>), a Turkish immigrant living in Bremen, who asks a Turkish prostitute to move in with him. Yeter (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0462958/">Nursel Köse</a>), the prostitute, who calls herself a woman of &#8220;easy virtues,&#8221; agrees to do so because of threats from two Turkish fundamentalists who view her profession as unbecoming of her culture. She however develops an affinity towards Ali&#8217;s son Nejat (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0205811/">Baki Davrak</a>), who is a professor. The plot revolves around circumstances that lead to Yeter&#8217;s death and Nejat&#8217;s departure to Istanbul in search of her daughter Ayten.</p>
<p>The second story is of Ayten, who is part of an extremist group in Turkey, forced to flee her country to Bremen. There, she befriends Charlotte (<a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1059775/">Patrycia Ziolkowska</a>), a student at a university where Ayten takes refuge in. Charlotte and Ayten fall in love. The rest is a heart-wrenching story of the inevitability of their love. Charlotte dies in Istanbul after she comes in search of Ayten, who was deported from Bremen. The final story is the resolution of the first two, wherein the characters find catharsis through each other.</p>
<p>Like Head-On, The Edge of Heaven discusses the issue related with the co-existence of people from different cultures, having differing ideologies. Starting from immigrant woe, idealism and loneliness, the transformations that each of the characters go through are wrought so intricately that the result is a very poignant and realistic portrayal of loss and redemption. I was intrigued by the performance of the actors, especially that of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanna_Schygulla">Hanna Schygulla</a>, who plays Charlotte&#8217;s disapproving mother Susanne, and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nurg%C3%BCl_Ye%C5%9Fil%C3%A7ay">Nurgül Yeşilçay</a>, who plays the confused idealist Ayten.</p>
<p>Fatih Akin, takes a more challenging stylistic approach with this film. He does not force the three stories to fit, but lets them unfold with a steady pace. He doesn&#8217;t impose himself on the characters or the plot. The result is a film that is both thematically and stylistically complex. And a very moving and accomplished work from a promising young director.</p>

Cum imi placuse destul de mult filmul, abia asteptam sa merg la cinematograf sa-l vad si eu pe urmatorul, <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0880502/">Auf den Anderen Seite</a>.<br />
Ei bine, ieri am reusit sa-l bifez. Ca, de, desi teoretic as putea sa ma dau pe torente, practic nu am tupeul. Asa ca ma multumesc cu mers la mozi, inchiriat Netflix sau cumparat filmele.</p>
<p>De data asta am dat de un film mai putin turbat, si mai mult asezat. La fel ca in precedentul film, actiunea se leaga de Germania (Bremen si Hamburg), insa finalul tot in Turcia are loc. Avem asadar tema reintoarcerii acasa a turco-germanilor. Mai mult, acum avem implicati chiar si germani. Mama lui Lotte are revelatia pildei lui Ibrahim, aproape identica cu cea a lui Avraam/Abraham, realizand ca diferentele sunt mai mici decat credea ea.<br />
Pana la un moment dat, filmul are un fir epic dublu. Intai ne este prezentata povestea profesorului universitar de germanistica, german de a doua generatie. Tatal acestuia se ataseaza la batranete de o prostituata tot originara din Turcia, propunandu-i o relatie stimulata banesc. Batranul nostru este extrem de gelos si o cam ia pe &#8220;raki&#8221; (presupun ca e un fel de rachiu, desi de multe ori &#8220;moravurile&#8221; turcilor in tarile vestice vs purismul  &#8211; fara alcool si porc &#8211; din tara de origine m-au cam deconcertat in timpul vizionarii). Femeia este sincera cu profesorul, ii spune ca are o fiica de 27 ani, si ea stie ca lucreaza la o fabrica de incaltaminte. Ii mai spune ca ea de fapt &#8220;iese la produs&#8221; mai mult ca sa-i poata asigura scoala fiicei sale, si, astfel, un viitor.<br />
Lucrurile se termina prost, intrucat, la un moment dat, batranul, beat, o imbranceste pe femeie, iar aceasta cade, lovindu-se la cap de un colt de metal si moare. Prima moarte, abia plauzibila. Il vedem pe barbatul batran intrand in inchisoare (iar mai tarziu intrand in Turcia, expulzat fiind din Germania). Fiul sau se muta in Istanbul, unde spera sa gaseasca fiica femeii decedate careia vrea sa-i sponsorizeze studiile. Cumpara o librarie turco-germana si incepe o noua viata acolo. Contactand rudele acesteia, obtine o fotografie a femeii, careia ii face copii pe afise, afise pe care le posteaza prin oras. Nu o gaseste, iar atunci cand merge la autoritati sa ceara informatii, functionarul da de ea in baza de date, si il trimite la superior, care-i sugereaza sa gaseasca pe altcineva caruia sa-i sponsorizeze studiile, se pare din motive politice.</p>
<p>Al doilea fir epic incepe in Turcia, unde o vedem pe fiica femeii decedate, Yetel, incercand sa scape dupa participarea la o manifestare publica de protest (nu mai tin minte ce se intampla in Turcia, atata ca se leaga de numele lui Ocalan, si ca celelalte fete sunt capturate de politie, iar trecatorii aplauda si felicita politia pentru captura). Scapa, insa din neatentie pierde telefonul mobil, si astfel da de gol pe celelalte participante, care sunt prinse. Ajunge pe un acoperis de cladire, unde ascunde pistolul. Isi procura acte false cu care zboara in Germania. Acolo nu are bani, si nu risca sa se prezinte autoritatilor drept refugiat politic, intrucat se teme ca i-ar putea fi respinsa cererea de azil. Mananca in campus, doarme in sala de curs unde preda profesorul din primul fir epic, Nejat Aksu (scenele astea de contact aduc a Trois Couleurs ale lui Kieslowski). Se imprieteneste cu Lotte, care o ia acasa, si dupa un timp, o poveste de dragoste se infiripa intre Yetel si Lotte. Mama Lottei nu este chiar incantata, asa ca uneori iese cu scantei. Rolul mamei Lottei este jucat de Hanna Schygulla, iata, dupa treizeci de ani de cand a fost starul lui Fassbinder. Ea nu intelege ce se intampla cu Turcia, si-ii spune fetei ca oricum toate problemele vor fi rezolvate in momentul in care Turcia va intra in UE (dupa care urmeaza reactia organica &#8220;Fuck the European Union!&#8221;, la care mama Lottei reactioneaza calm, insa ferm &#8211; tu la mine in casa sa nu mai injuri).<br />
Din pacate, la un moment dat masina fetelor este oprita la un control de rutina, iar Yetel fuge, stiind ca nu are acte. Este prinsa, si ajunge intr-un adapost pentru imigranti, de fapt locul nu arata rau, insa ce este mai rau este ca dupa un an de zile, autoritatile ii refuza viza de azilant. Motivul oficial este ca, fiindca Turcia a aplicat pentru aderarea la UE, este putin probabil ca ea sa se confrunte cu pericole majore odata intoarsa in Turcia. Totusi, odata deportata, ea ajunge in inchisoare, si asteapta un proces care s-ar putea termina cu o condamnare de douazeci de ani de inchisoare.<br />
Lotte o urmeaza le Yetel in Istanbul, si ajunge sa locuiasca in chirie la Nejat. O viziteaza pe Yetel la inchisoare, si aceasta ii spune cum sa dea de arma. Lotte ia pistolul, il pune in poseta, insa pe o strada mai dubioasa, niste copii ii fura poseta si fug cu ea. Totusi, Lotte le da de urma pe cand acestia isi imparteau prada, insa unul dintre ei, ca intr-o joaca, ocheste si trage in ea.<br />
A doua moarte aiurea, si, pe cand la moartea prostituatei, am avut un sicriu mergand cu avionul pe directia Germania-Turcia, acum avem unul mergand dinspre Turcia inspre Germania.</p>
<p>Abia acum vedem titlul filmului. De cealalta parte: doua lumi diferite, atat politic, cat si ca obiceiuri si cultura.  Care vor converge in virtual, dincolo de genericul de final al filmului.</p>
<p>Mama Lottei si tatal lui Nejat (pe care acesta il reneaga ca tata, pentru ca a comis o crima) pleaca, fara sa stie, in acelasi timp, catre Istanbul. Il cunoaste pe Nejat si se muta in fosta camera a fiicei sale. Merge la inchisoare la Yetel pe care vrea s-o scape de inchisoare &#8211; dorinta fiicei ele &#8211; , care isi cere iertare pentru fapta sa (intre timp a aflat ca Lotte a fost impuscata cu acel pistol pe care ea il ascunsese). Dupa ce Yetel este eliberata, ele vor merge spre locuinta lui Nejat, care este plecat sa-si vada tatal.<br />
Avem, iata, scene ale iertarii si reconcilierii intre Est si Vest, care in mare parte ne scapa, pentru ca regizorul le plaseaza in timp dincolo de genericul de final. Negresit, aceasta solutie artistica are darul de a stimula spectatorul de a-si proiecta propria versiune a impacarii dintre protagonisti. Iata, un film neosificat, cu atatea finaluri cati spectatori va avea. Intrevad un efect benefic al filmului asupra turcilor suparati pe germani, rad si asupra nemtilor rasisti anti-turci.<br />
Si, daca e pana acolo, povestea este si mai generala, nu doar turco-germana. Este povestea intalnirii a oricaror doua lumi, si a sperantei intelegerii adevarate intre ele, bazate pe elementele care le unesc, asa cum pilda lui Ibrahim/Abraham este comuna celor doua culturi.</p>
<p>Note de subsol:<br />
1. Destul de cinica viziunea vesnicei aspiratii a Turciei care mai binele reprezentat de UE. Recunosc aici destule din trairile mele anterioare aderarii Romaniei la UE, pe care am sarbatorit-o, surpriza, in Hamburg (ca la momentul respectiv eram deja rezident american, asta este o cu totul alta poveste). Revad lumea corupta, mai ales moral, care ar vrea o viata mai buna, insa fara sa renunte la privilegii.<br />
2. Scenele din Turcia au un pitoresc aparte. Casele vechi (de ce nu sunt ele oare intretinute?), muntii, Bosforul, pana si benzinaria prapadita de la inceput, care revine in final, toate ma fac sa invinetesc de ciuda <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif' alt=';)' class='wp-smiley' />  Chiar muzica apartine interpretului care intr-adevar murise de cancer cu cativa ani in urma. De fapt Fatih Akin a realizat si un film despre muzica jazz turceasca, poate il voi gasi si pe acesta pe undeva, are Meredith ce are cu muzica orientala&#8230;<br />
3. Suspectez un fel de &#8220;transfer al generatiilor&#8221; intre Hanna Schygulla, care aici joaca rolul mamei lui Lotte, insa in Berlin Alexanderplatz-ul lui Fassbinder joaca rolul uneia dintre prostituate (rolul celeilalte fiind jucat de Barbara Sukowa, poate ati vazut-o in Lars von Trier&#8217;s Europa) din anii republicii de la Weimar, pe cand prostitutia parea a fi un lucru destul de normal, data fiind rata somajului in acea perioada, catre femeile care vin din est. Aici vedem o turcoaica, insa stim cu totii povesti despre est-europence.</p>
<p>Vorba unuia: rapandule de-astea vrea Basescu sa-si aduca inapoi in tara in al doilea mandat? Pai da, daca nu ai vazut civilizatie, nu ai cum sa o produci, as spune eu. Chiar daca stateai in noroi pe cand vedeai civilizatia.<br />
Mda, se apropie iarasi alegerile, si mai bine tac o vreme.</p>

<p>Овдовевший отец Неджата нашел себе новую подругу, проститутку Этер, чем весьма огорчил сына, но со временем тот начинает испытывать более теплые чувства к ней, узнав, что Этер посылает деньги дочери в Турцию, оплачивая ей учебу в университете. Неожиданная смерть Этер отдаляет сына от отца. Неджат едет в Стамбул, чтобы найти дочь Этер — Айтен. Оказывается, что Айтен, являясь оппозиционным лидером, бежала от турецкой полиции и находится в Германии, где знакомится с молодой женщиной по имени Лотте, которая приглашает ее остановится у себя, хотя новую знакомую и не одобряет консервативно настроенная мать Лотте, Сюзанна. Вскоре Айтен задерживают и отказывают в политическом убежище, после чего высылают в Турцию и заключают под стражу. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>ein regentag in christchurch. der chef hat keine arbeit fuer mich. was mache ich mit der luxusware zeit? ganz tief in die <strong>filmwelt </strong>eintauchen. um 3 ins kino gehen. fuer unbestimmte zeit in „a world history of film“ von robert sklar blaettern. auf <a href="http://www.rottentomatoes.com" target="_blank">rotten tomatoes</a> und der <a href="http://www.imdb.com" target="_blank">internet movie database</a> die zeit vergessen. und darauf freuen, dass gerade das <a href="http://www.nzff.co.nz" target="_blank">christchurch film festival</a> beginnt.</p>
<p>der film, den ich gesehen habe, war <strong>the edge of heaven</strong>, deutscher titel <a href="http://www.auf-der-anderen-seite.de" target="_blank">auf der anderen seite</a>. ein film, der am 27. september letzten jahres in deutschland anlief – was genau der tag ist, an dem ich in neuseeland ankam. so lange hat es also gedauert, bis dieses meisterwerk mich sprichwortlich auf der anderen seite erreicht hat (shine a light, der auf der berlinale 2008 premiere hatte, habe ich immerhin letzte woche in cairns gesehen, das ging ja flott im verhaeltnis dazu).<br />
der film war fantastisch, wie es bei fatih akin auch zu erwarten war. der film lief<!--more--> im original (deutsch, tuerkisch, englisch) mit englischen <strong>untertiteln</strong>. ich denke mal, dass ich die einzige im kino war, die gemerkt hat, wann die personen tuerkisch gesprochen haben (dann brauchte ich die untertitel) und wann deutsch (dann habe ich die untertitel zum teil trotzdem gelesen). sollte man sowas nicht eigentlich irgendwie kennzeichnen?? und es war recht amuesant, die durchsagen im ICE zu hoeren. wir bedanken uns fuer ihre fahrt mit der deutschen bahn und so weiter. und die bremer stadtmusikanten waren im bild! da wird man direkt ein wenig sentimental <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' /><br />
geschockt hat mich der <strong>passkontrolleur </strong>am flughafen in hamburg. solch ein grimmiges gesicht, und so jemand begruesst einen in dem land, in das man gerade einreist? welch ein unterschied zu der netten dame, die vor kurzem nachts um 12 am flughafen in christchurch meinen pass und visum und tickets etc kontrolliert hat, dabei noch freundlich small talk betreiben konnte, und mir dann mit einem grossen laecheln und einem „welcome home“ den stempel in den pass gehauen hat. allein diese grausame film-szene von vielleicht 20 sekunden waere einen eigenen blog-eintrag wert.</p>
<p>noch was zum schmunzeln aus robert sklar buch: freundlich und manchmal mit humor wird man in unserer zeit doch gebeten, die handtelefone waehrend eines films auszuschalten. in den fruehen tagen des kinos hatte man anderen aerger mit ruecksichtslosen kinobesucherinnen. die mode erforderte huete gross wie wagenraeder und wer hinter solch einem monstrum (ich meine den hut, nicht die traegerin) sass, sah nicht viel vom film. hoerte auch nix, denn es gab ja noch keinen ton. deswegen hiess es vor dem beginn des films – „<strong>ladies! kindly remove your hats</strong>“.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Săptămâna asta rulează în Bucureşti filmul &#8220;<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0880502/" target="_blank">Auf der anderen Seite</a>&#8221; (&#8220;De partea cealaltă&#8221; &#8211; titlul englezesc &#8220;The Edge of Heaven&#8221;) , pe care  &#8221;<a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1032846/" target="_blank">4 luni, 3 săptămâni şi 2 zile</a>&#8221; l-a bătut în &#8220;meciul&#8221; pentru Palme d&#8217;Or. Vă spun cu mâna pe inimă că filmul turco-germanului <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0015359/" target="_blank">Fatih Akin </a>mi s-a părut mult mai puternic, infinit mai actual şi, în orice caz, mai  bine realizat din aproape toate punctele de vedere decât pelicula lui <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0612816/" target="_blank">Cristian Mungiu</a>.</p>
<p> N-oi fi eu vreun celebru critic de film, dar, după cum şi-au dat seama cititorii mei, nu prea dau cu bâta-n baltă când vine vorba despre aprecieri, aşa că îmi pun legitima întrebare: cum a câştigat &#8220;4, 3, 2&#8243;  Palme d&#8217;Or? Mergeţi să vedeţi &#8220;Auf der anderen seite&#8221;, şi pe urmă cred c-o să fiţi la fel de miraţi ca şi mine.</p>
<p> Poate o să spună unii că noi românii <!--more--> suntem mereu tentaţi să ne negăm valorile, că mi-e ciudă pe succesul lui Mungiu etc. Puţin îmi pasă. Nu-mi place cinematografia minimalistă, nu-mi plac temele fiziologice, nu-mi place succesul bazat pe exploatarea unui subiect pe gustul juriului. Mungiu a spus o poveste (de altfel adevărată, sau în orice caz nu mult exagerată) care &#8220;se pupă&#8221; perfect pe ceea ce &#8220;servise&#8221; propaganda vestică despre România vreme de 25 de ani înainte de 1989. Unda de simpatie din Europa de Vest şi SUA provine, în cazul lui &#8220;4, 3 ,2&#8243;, din reacţia gen &#8220;uite domle că nu ne-au minţit ai noştri&#8221;.  În cazul de faţă chiar nu-i minţiseră, dar ce legătură are asta cu valoarea filmului?</p>

<p style="text-align:right;"><span style="font-size:small;font-family:Tahoma;">با سينماي تركيه خيلي آشنا نيستم‏، تنها 2 فيلم از اين سينما را ديده‌ام. هر دو برنده جايزه‌هاي متعددي در سطح جهان بوده‌اند. دو سال پيش فيلم <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0084934/" target="_blank">يول (راه)</a> را تماشا كردم برنده نخل طلاي كن در سال 1982 ، به شدت دوستش داشتم، يك درام نفس گير، داستان پنج زنداني كه به مرخصي مي آيند و هر كدام درگير ماجراهايي تلخ مي شوند.<span>  </span>ديروز هم فرصتي شد كه فيلم <a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0880502/" target="_blank">بر لبه بهشت </a>ساخته فاتح آكين محصول سال 2007 را تماشا كنم. داستان سه خانواده، يك پدر و پسر، دو مادر و دختر. فيلم در باب عشق بود و ارزش زيستن، همراه با چاشني تقابل فرهنگ شرق و غرب، نگاه جوانان امروز تركيه به دنيا و مفاهيم آن، اعتراضات دانشجويي، آرمان گرايي و &#8230;. دو فصل اول فيلم تلخ است و شوكه كننده. تم شرقي فيلم هم باعث مي‌شود كه ما و كارگردان جوان فيلم زبان هم را بهتر بفهميم.<span>  </span>فيلم برنده بهترين فيلمنامه جشنواره كن 2007 شد و نامزد نخل طلا<span>        </span></span></p>

It also touches periferily on the kurdish issue. Had it not been financed by various german foundations it could almost be construed as a critique of European multiculturalism, but that slant is probably unintentional. Germans are neurotically PC.</span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:0;margin-right:0.39in;padding:0;" align="left"><span style="font-family:Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size:small;"><span style="font-size:medium;">So </span><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0880502/"><span style="font-size:medium;">the film</span></a><span style="font-size:medium;"> is not a political one. It focuses on the personal lives of a handful characters who try to connect with each other and make sense of their lives in an incoherent world that seems to make no sense. Storywise it is a rather weak film. It is almost funny that writer and director Fatih Akin has received several awards for his screenwriting, since the plot is vague and full of unlikely events and coincidences and lacks a proper end.</span></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:0;margin-right:0.39in;padding:0;" align="left"><span style="font-family:Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size:medium;">But the quality lies in the way it&#8217;s told. The film doesn&#8217;t try to push any buttons, instead it tells the story with a plain yet beautiful cinematography, in a way reminiscent of Vilmos Zsigmond&#8217;s work on <a href="http://thesoundofmyownvoice.wordpress.com/2008/02/29/film-review-deliverance-1972/">Deliverance</a>. This minimalistic, Hemingwayesque style which never degenerates into pseudo-documentary creates a very authentic nerve to the film. It makes the characters come very close to the audience; one almost feels like a voyeur. And the characters are definitely worth watching since they are very credibly constructed and performed.</span></span></p>
<p style="margin-bottom:0;margin-right:0.39in;padding:0;" align="left"><span style="font-family:Times New Roman, serif;"><span style="font-size:medium;">So even though the story wasn&#8217;t that good I still recommend this film because of its simple, powerful beauty and its interesting characters. If you&#8217;re bored with Hollywood clichées and just as bored with pretentious art films, then you should certainly give this one a chance.</span></span></p>

<p>Quel étrange phénomène nous détourne de notre environnement proche et nous amène irrésistiblement à regarder vers un horizon plus lointain ? Est-ce la fuite de son quotidien, est ce un goût de l&#8217;aventure et de l&#8217;inconnu, est-ce une ouverture d&#8217;esprit noble et sage, est-ce la quête de réponses cachées, est-ce la curiosité et la recherche de l&#8217;autre, est ce l&#8217;extériorisation d&#8217;un mal être intérieur, est-ce l&#8217;intériorisation d&#8217;un conviction nomade, est-ce l&#8217;espoir d&#8217;une vie meilleur, est-ce le désir d&#8217;une existence plus simple ?</p>
<p>Les roumains rêvent de la France, les français de la vie de Bohème, les libanais s&#8217;exilent au Canada pour fuir la violence quotidienne, des étudiants canadiens s&#8217;agglutinent dans les ambassades du Moyen-Orient pour vibrer au rythme de l&#8217;actualité, les films de Bollywood se passent aujourd&#8217;hui à Londres, le cinéma indépendant anglais se penchent sur les minorités indies, les chinoises se font blanchir la peau à coups de crèmes cosmétiques, les fans de Desperate Housewife utilisent d&#8217;autres crèmes pour obtenir le même teint mâte qu&#8217;Eva Longoria &#8230; On pourrait continuer cette liste des contraires bien longtemps.</p>
<p>Mais que retirer de ce constat troublant ? Que notre vie n&#8217;est qu&#8217;une fuite en avant, et que quelque soit l&#8217;endroit où nous sommes, nous aspirons toujours à un ailleurs meilleur, un paradis terrestre dont nous ne percevons que de vagues echos ?<br />
Ce paradis terreste est avant tout à construire dans notre tête, cheminement intellectuel apte à modifier notre vision du monde, et en particulier notre monde le plus immédiat, le plus proche, celui dans lequel nous vivons chaque jour. Mais pour le construire, pourquoi justement ne pas profiter de tous ces flux contradictoires cités ci-dessus ? Allons puiser chez l&#8217;autre ce qui nous conviendrait dans son mode de vie, et faisons le notre. Multiplions les échanges dans les deux sens, faisons tout bonnement tomber les barrières, pour ainsi perdre toute velléité de les franchir. Allons puiser ailleurs ce qui nous fera du bien ici même. ET nous seront proches d&#8217;une nouvelle forme d&#8217;échange épanouissante, l&#8217; &#8220;<span style="font-weight:bold;">échange sédentaire</span>&#8221; !</p>
