Hello everyone,

Again, sorry for the length of time between posts.  I am trying to find a somewhat decent schedule to allow me to be able to do this more often.  So since CSS is pretty much the only game I have really been playing as of late, here are some skins that I like to use to make the game a little more interesting.

Lately I have put down Guildwars and have moved on to a on-line multi-player based First Person Shooter called Counter Strike Source.  Now I am sure that at least 80% of the world has heard of this game and at least 40% of it is addicted to it..haha jk.  But the jist of the game is to keep the terrorist for achieving their goal.  I mainly try to play both Counter-Terrorist and Terrorist equally as the servers I usually play on usually auto select what I am anyways.  I try to alway play teh CS_Office  map because I find it the most fun and it basically gives both teams a equal advantage against the other.

Normally if I am a Counter-Terrorist I use the Famas, Deagle, Scout, M4 and the M3.  If I am a Terrorist I usually go with Mac10, Deagle, M3, Scout and the Sig552.

Each gun is unique in its own.  Basically you have to learn how each guns recoil will affect the path of the bullets.  This has been my challenge the whole 3 years I have been playing this game.  I have learned to just accept that this game isn’t perfect and to not trust that every bullet will kill the person you are shooting at.  I’m sure some people will tell you that they unloaded a shotgun in someone’s face from 2ft away and some how they did only 20 dmg, while that person died.  That is just the nature of the beast with this game.  It really does take some practice and hand eye coordination with the cross-hairs and the mouse.  If you want to get more in depth on learning the guns of CS…just YouTube the gun and I am sure you will find loads of video on the guns recoil and spray patterns.

All of these skins are FREE and very easy to install, but don’t be surprised if there maybe one that gives you an issue.  My advice to any of you who want to do this..BACK UP YOUR CSTRIKE FOLDER before you make any changes!!!!

Layar now available on iPhone

As reported in Wired.com for Thursday October 15 , 2009. Layar was originally developed in the Netherlands, and runs on Android based cell phones. The first cell phone manufacturer to pre-install it was Samsung who installed it on their Android based Galaxy sold in the Netherlands.

It has now been ported over to the iPhone and will now compete head to head with an early entrant into the AR market, Bionic Eye. Layar had garnered some early mindshare on O’Reilly’s technology blog Radar where I first noticed it. Others had whispered about it early on the cutting edge tech blogs. But this was the first concrete example showing what it could do.

Wired.com has been singing the praises of the cell phone Augmented Reality craze but somewhat later than O’Reilly tapped into it in early Summer. O’Reilly now has a correspondent fully engaged in covering things AR related: Christine Perey. And now let the battle begin Bionic Eye vs. Layar! But first consider the API’s which are already beginning to be examined by the folks over at Wired. One big complaint is the difficulty with which one can submit their own Point of Interest database that Layar can call up. Bionic Eye hasn’t really touted user generated POI content as much. It will take a while to see if it’s the consumers or the developers who determines the winner in the battle for Cellphone AR apps. Who knows? Maybe Google will enter the fray real soon now.

Today we had the DFUG # 3, in addition to the great dialogue we ended up having about various aspects of our work and industry, we had two great presentations…

Philip Tonboe talked about using pernilNoise maps as displacement maps and displayed some great applications of the output and how to configure the maps to obtain various results… really great stuff !!

Secondly we had one of the key developers on the Danish National Broadcasting’s game site to talk about the newest addition to their famous “Hundeparken”. He talked about how easy it was to get started writing 2D games using the BOX2D Physics Engine.

Our stance: Overall, a strong set of numbers, though while ahead of
estimates, were not entirely unexpected. Strong margins, and a revival in
fee/trading income bodes well, while provisioning worries linger. As
such, the stock may consolidate given its YTD outperformance of both
STI and OCBC/UOB. We would buy on any dip.

Since our last Singapore strategy report dated 11 June, the market has
risen a further 13% to an 11-month high of 323, driven in part by strongerthan-
expected 2Q results and, consequently, 6% upgrade in consensus
estimates. This, in turn, was mainly due to better margins rather than top-line
growth. While the market could take a breather in the near term, given the
sharp bounce, this suggests that market earnings could see another leg-up
as the top-line picks up – particularly during the sweet-spot before costs
catch up with revenues.

With 2010E consensus earnings still down by 38% since March 2008 and
at only 74% of the peak in 2007, there is probably further scope for
consensus upgrades. In particular, we expect upgrades in the transport
sector, where earnings are now 20% of 2007’s peak, to kick in.
■
Our 12-month STI target of 2,991 is based on a five-year average P/B
(for 2010) and implies 16% potential upside. The corresponding MSCI Index
target is 356, or +15%. Our P/B versus ROE analysis suggests that another
18% 2010E earnings upgrade over the next six to 12 months would bring the
market back to the historical average P/B.

We maintain our overweight stance on transport, banks, media,
financials and real estate. On the other hand, we remain underweight
capital goods and telecom. Our top picks are SIA, UOB and SPH. Within the
mid-caps, we like NOL, YZJ and Midas. Our least preferred stocks are
COSCO, Sembcorp Marine and SMRT.

DBS Group (DBSM.SI)
Buy: New Target S$15.50; Raising EPS Estimates 2%-18%
 Target S$15.50 (1.46x ‘09E P/B): DBS has retraced 10% from recent highs on
concerns of sharply rising NPLs. But DBS’ provisions-hit 2Q09 ROAE of 9.3%
belies record pre-provision operating profits, and a PPOP ROAA of 1.73%,
back to the 2007 peak. The P&L provisions cycle should start to normalize over
2010E for a 2011E ROAE of 12%. Our 12-month target has been reset to DBS’
mid-cycle P/B multiple of 1.46x.
 2Q09 pre-provision profit a record S$1.16bn: DBS’ 2Q09 PPOP is up 30% vs.
2Q07 (the last economic cycle peak). Loan growth +29% over 2 years drove
8% net interest income growth despite NIM pressure from low S$ SIBOR, while
basic bank fees remained resilient. Markets-related income has been a key
boost to 2Q09 revenues, but operating costs are 4% lower than in 2Q07
despite a much larger balance sheet, for a 2Q09 cost-income ratio of just 35%.
 2Q09 NPLs, +36%qoq, the area of concern: NPLs rose to S$3.7bn on a S$1bn
rise in “rest of world” (Middle East and shipping) NPLs, but as “substandard”
NPLs, mgmt do not expect large losses, stressing that 38% of all NPLs are fully
current. We expect NPLs to peak by end-2010E, and provisions to return to
“normalized” levels by 2011E, markets pricing in normalization ahead of that.
 Raising 2009-11E EPS estimates 2-18%: We now project profit growth of
+25% in ‘10E and +22% in ‘11E on [1] 3-7% loan growth; [2] modest NIM
improvement to 210bps; [3] PPOP ROAA of 1.7%, [2] provisions falling from
133bps in ‘09E to 50bps in’11E. Our 2009E profit forecast of S$2bn remains
12% above Bloomberg consensus estimates.

Buy: New Target S$18.60; Raising EPS Estimates 2%-20%
 Target S$18.60 (1.76x ‘09E P/B): On the back of high 2Q09 provision charges,
UOB has sold off 9% from recent highs. But despite annualized provisions of
188bps of net loans, UOB still reported a 2Q09 ROAE of 12.8% Our pro forma
analysis suggests that UOB could achieve a 15% ROAE with provisions of
50bps. Two-thirds of 2Q09 charges were general provisions, which could fall
rapidly if the economy improves. Our 12-month target has been reset to a P/B
multiple of 1.76x vs. a 2009E ROAE of 13%.
 2Q09 pre-provision profit a record S$937m: UOB’s 2Q09 PPOP is up 18% vs.
2Q07 (the last economic cycle peak). Loan growth +23% over 2 years has
driven net interest income growth of 19% on improving NIMs. Basic bank fees
remained steady, other income has been lifted by investments gains. Operating
costs are up just 3% vs. 2Q07, for a 2Q09 cost-income ratio of 36%.
 2Q09 provisions 188bps, overly conservative? NPLs rose to S$2.5bn for a still
reasonable 2.5% NPL ratio. Mgmt reiterated that there were a few lumpy NPLs,
but no trend asset quality deterioration. We expect NPLs to peak by end-
2010E, and provisions to return to “normalized” levels by 2011E, but markets
should price in normalization well ahead of that.
 Raising 2009-11E EPS estimates 2-20%: We project EPS growth of +17% in
‘10E and +21% in ‘11E on [1] 2-7% loan growth; [2] NIMs easing to 233bps;
[3] PPOP ROAA of 1.9%, [2] provisions falling from 130bps in ‘09E to 50bps
in’11E. Our 2009E forecast of S$1.9bn is 9% above Bloomberg consensus.

Prices could reach 2007 peaks by 2010
Mass launch prices rose 18% YTD, expect prime prices to catch up. Launch prices rose 10% and 18% in prime and mass districts in H109. We upgrade our residential forecasts by 27% and now expect prime prices to rise 18% from here to 2007 peak by 2010, as interest continues to improve as foreigners start to buy. We think mass launch prices have reached 2007 peak due to fervent buying
by locals and prices could stagnate at current levels.

Singapore to appeal to international buyers given price decline, catalysts
In H109, buyers from China and Malaysia rose by 60%, while buyers from Europe declined. We believe Singapore could appear attractive to international buyers after
prices declined by 24% since Q407, the sharpest globally. Prices in the UK, US and Ireland declined by 17.6%-19.9%. We also expect the opening of the two integrated resorts and casinos in 2010 to bring visitors who are new to Singapore.

Annual supply in 2008-13 close to 2000-08, but demand could be double
In 2000-2008, 16,000 homes were completed a year while population grew by 98,000 p.a. (2.3% p.a.). In 2009-2015, we continue to expect 16,000 completions and population growth of 2.3% p.a. (translating to 116,000). We think the supply is not excessive and rents could grow by at least 5% CAGR experienced in 2000-2008. The Government is actively promoting population inflow and spending
S$50b in 2009-2011 in public works to prepare for the next growth phase.

City Developments remains our Key Call; upgrade Allgreen to Buy
We upgrade Allgreen from Neutral to Buy, and City Developments remains our key pick amongst the Singapore developers. We also adjust our price targets for City Developments, Allgreen and Keppel Land.

* China’s growth story intact *
We believe China remains a bright spot globally on the back of its strong growth potential, reflected in our economists recently upgrading their GDP forecasts to 9.4% and 11.9% for 2009E and 2010E, respectively, from 8.3% and 10.9%. We think the market concerns about a near-term “exit strategy” appear premature as the government remains pro-growth and real interest rates are still near the historical highs despite a significant re-leveraging in 1H09.

* Rolling out our 2010E index target *
We expect HSCEI and CSI300 to reach 16,800 and 4,300, respectively, by end-2010E, implying 44% and 36% potential price returns. The incremental upside from the new targets is mainly driven by our EPS growth rollover, but we believe the monetary policy will be the swing factor to valuations and hence equity returns. We set out two scenarios to model the potential market returns in different liquidity conditions.

the very low level of around -1 SD that leaves more room
for PE expansion.”

The new Facebook 3 app provides a host of great tools to access your facebook network.  This includes:  video uploads, a new home screen, add  profile pages, create and zoom into photo albums, easily access search and notifications, continue a messages after interrupted by a phone call and plenty more. Now I’m a fair guy, so lets talk about the bad parts too, lol.  There is a glitch in playing facebook uploaded videos, even though many smartphones suffer problems as well.  The error message displays saying “The video can not be play yet, on this device”.  However, Youtube videos are imported and the link is played through this App. Some have complained that the update did not work at all, even after deleting and reinstalling.  One person even said chat feature caused a shut down. Overall, its a great app, when its up and running, and better than the 2.5. The new App is available for download at the iTunes store, or click here.

It’s been a long time since I have been off the external blogging circuit…the reasons are many, but then those reason seem so unreasonable for why I havent been around…I hate dormancy, but then probably a lot of factors got together and hatched a plan to unsettle me!

It all began with a health scare…lasting 2 days…followed by two weeks long of travelling along the Chennai-Bangalore-Mysore-Hyderabad-Chennai route…finally ending on the dentist’s chair diagonized with multiple root canals! Sigh…that was just the beginning…With the canals still being under construction within the interiors of my loud speaker, my honorable owner dude landed asking us to vacate the flat unless we cough up INR 3K ($60) more per month…it seems he heard from someone that its the “beginning of the end of recession”, so he decided to kill us with his nonsensical demand. Who’s he to screw up an already screwed up life? whatever…phak him!

Sacred Learnings of the week: The actual meaning of FYA!!
Usage: In corporate emails, superiors forward a received mail with a FYA…
I knew it stood for “For Your Action”! – this normally happens to be a “you are gonna get screwed by this” mailer!
Recently, got to know from a manager that it also stood for “F**k Your A$$”…which literally is the same!

Wii Ware is video game services offered to Nintendo users to get more games.  Users can download a game from the Wii Shop Channel, then it’s downloaded to their internal memory card.  The most popular game sold as of 2009 is World of Goo. Most games are priced in Nintendo Points 500-1500. Developers can participate in creating apps or games by purchasing their $2000 kit and become approved by the company.  Kinda pricey, but now possible.
