I hope you’re all staying safe and enjoying your summer/winter! I know I’ve been spending lots of time at the beach, and it has been fantastic!

I have also been catching public transport quite regularly, it’s been quite good which is surprising!

In between the beach and travelling I’ve managed to squeeze a couple of bands in. My favourite of the holidays so far being Playrite. These guys supported Half Moon Run in Melbourne and were very entertaining. They were upbeat and enthusiastic with a really cool sound. I am having trouble finding any information about them on Facebook/Youtube etc. so if you know anything about these guys please let me know!

In other news! There are some fantastic bands playing at the Melbourne Zoo in the coming weeks. It’s called Zoo Twilights and it is starting off with Missy Higgins this Friday evening (25th of January). Check out the link for ticket information and all of the stuff that you need to know! I am looking forward to seeing Lisa Mitchell and Georgia Fair on the 8th of February, and I’m quite tempted to go and see some more of these fantastic acts playing live amongst the animals! So check it out if you’re interested!

I will be back on air with Phoenix FM within a month or two, so watch this space! I will be bringing you the latest music from around Australia on Aussie Revolution! Why not listen to Toucan, these guys supported the Kooks last year on their national tour and are currently touring with the likes of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Vampire Weekend, Foals and all the rest of the awesome lineup for Big Day Out! I have had a few emails recently about demos/singles/EPs and have decided to set up a post office box for you all to send these items. I will be regularly (hopefully weekly) reviewing and recommending them via my blog, Invisible Curiosity.

There will be some more information about this within a week or so, so be sure to stay tuned if you are interested! I’m sure you all know by now how much I love up and coming Australian music, and how I try to keep my finger on the pulse. I will admit, I have been quite slack lately, but those times are over! There will be a weekly wrap up of up and coming Aussie artists, as well as some more information about where you can find their music and when they’re playing near you etc. Pretty much what I’ve been doing, just more regularly.

I really really like these guys, they’re from Brisbane, and you may have heard their previous single ‘Evie’ (about their dog) and ‘Do You Know’. Now, prepare yourself… I hope you’re prepared for this awesome new film clip from Hey Geronimo for their new single ‘Dreamboat Jack’. This is bound to have you on the edge of your seat while you follow “the greatest puppet chase ever filmed!” Love the track, and I’m sure you would have heard these guys before with their track ‘Why Don’t We Do Something?’. Sorry it’s been so long in between updates! Uni has officially finished now, so I should be able to keep you up to date on all of the latest Australian music news.

The show on Hitz247 has been changed to Friday-Sunday from 9am-12pm! So make sure you tune in to hear some of the latest Aussie music news as well as some brand new Aussie tracks.

Some of my favourite artists at the moment include Lisa Mitchell, Ball Park Music and the Paper Kites. I also recently went to see Josh Pyke (and also did an interview, that I will put up this week for you), who was fantastic as always! If you haven’t had the chance to see him live yet, make sure you try to in the near future.

Queenscliff Music Festival is coming up in a couple of weeks, which is rather exciting. It’s always great to support the local artists that play at festivals, and I know that the Queenscliff Music Festival are great supporters of this. Can’t wait to see all of the great acts that are on this years lineup!

So todays update is all about a BRAND NEW RADIO SHOW!

How exciting!!

Aussie Revolution will be on Hitz247, an online youth radio station, Monday-Friday from 12pm-3pm. I hope you can all tune in! I’m very excited about this project, and can’t wait to start!

The show will consist of up and coming Australian music, as well as some of the better known artists. There will be features on up and coming bands, interviews and much much more! So be sure to tune in from Monday the 22nd of October.

In other news, Lisa Mitchell‘s second album, Bless This Mess, was released on Friday. What do you think of it? I have not been able to stop listening to it! In my car it’s been a rotation of Museum by Ball Park Music and Bless This Mess.

My favourite tracks off Bless This Mess being the title track, The Story of the Raven and the Mushroom Man, Walk With Me and You Pretty Thing. But that’s only if I really have to choose, I am definitely keeping it on repeat on a lovely day like today.

Queenscliff Music Festival is where all of my favourites will be this year! Sorry it’s been such a long time since I’ve written a new post! Once again, uni has been rather busy and I’ve managed to find myself a new radio show!! (All will be revealed in a couple of days!) I hope you’re all well!

To start this post off I would like to say that the new Ball Park Music album Museum is growing on me, but anything that is left in your car cd player for long enough will. I would recommend listening to it if you enjoyed their debut album Happiness And Surrounding Suburbs.

The Paper Kites have released their second EP Young North  and are touring nationally as of Thursday in NSW! October seems to be the month of new albums this year! And it’s all exciting! There are heaps more due out, and lots of tours going on at the moment or starting within the next few weeks. Be sure to check your favourite band’s Facebook page to see if they’re touring!

To meet someone like Ita Buttrose, someone that you admire so much is incredible. Such a fantastic experience!

How amazing is it to think back on incredible days in your life.

I will definitely think back to this day with very fond memories!

This post is a bit out of the ordinary, but I’m sure you will appreciate it all the same.

Today (11/8/12), I got to meet the incredible Ita Buttrose!

You never know where volunteer work  may lead, and this is a perfect example. So if you’re ever interested in any particular festivals that are coming up around the place, be sure to volunteer.

Anyway! I was volunteering at the Bendigo Writers Festival, which is hopefully going to take place again next year. So make sure, if you get the chance, that you go and check it out!

The day started off with some general voluntary work, and then, sauntering into the green room comes Ita Buttrose, followed by her very friendly publicist. Wearing pants, a black jacket and red cardigan, she looks as beautiful as ever. Matching her glasses and nails to her outfit, Ita looks amazing.

After a few books being signed, I gain some courage and introduce myself, and aren’t I glad that I did! Ita chats with me throughout the signing, about social media, uni life and many more interesting things and just incase you were wondering; Ita loves using Twitter and is says that the future of communications is “looking bright”, I even managed to mention my radio show, Aussie Revolution, and her fantastic red glasses and colour choice for the day were also discussed.

Ita is an absolute delight!

A very busy schedule restricts Ita, and she is unable to sign all the books, but is adamant there will be enough time in between the sessions.

I accompany Ita to the Bendigo Art Gallery for lunch we manage to organise what’s going to happen after the lunch, with Sue Gillett and myself having to head straight over to the visual art centre to present a session on social media and blogs. Once organised I say thank you to Ita, as it was an absolute pleasure to meet her.

What an inspiring woman!

The luncheon is a success (no surprises there), and everyone is raving about Ita’s speech and how wonderful she is. And of course, I completely agree with this. We then rush around to get to the social media Q&A that is being held at 1pm! It’s a struggle, but we get there in time and everything runs smoothly! And a quick ‘cya’ to Ita on the way out boosts my confidence once more.

If you haven’t already, make sure you have a look at ‘Paper Giants’ which documents ‘The birth of Cleo’, the Australian magazine aimed at 20-40 year old women. It displays a portion of what Ita has done in her life, but it is only one of the many extraordinary things that she has accomplished.You never know what type of opportunities can arise from different situations, so never panic, everything seems to work itself out.
