Lo que no es inusual es que siendo el que soy, no acabara dedicandole un articulo a ese gran icono de la musica sordida que es Tom Jones, que tantos momentos de sumo placer y diversión me ha dado en mis noches de pedo historico, a la par que grandes ataques de vergüenza ajena a los sosos que me miraban.

Pero todo es una cuestión de valores, yo personalmente prefiero bailar en mitad de la plaza Moyua con tanga de leopardo cualquier canción del tigre de Gales (con mayuscula, es una nación, que lo sepais) antes que ser sorprendido tarareando alguna de OT.

Claro que tambien entiendo que soy sordido y no todo el mundo esta preparado para eso.

Pero centremonos en el personaje:

Sir Thomas Jones Woodward (si, es Sir desde el 2006) nacio en Cardiff, capital de la nación galesa (si algo aprendí en el Reino Unido es como se lleva el nacionalismo bien entendido y sin complejos) en el verano de 1940, en plena batalla de Inglaterra y supongo que el pasar por un chetto con tantas bombas cayendo debio marcarle bastante, y no me mireis así, es una explicación tan buena como cualquier otra.

¿Que era hijo de mineros?

Así, nuestro pequeño amigo que ya hizo la comunión con pelo en el pecho (los hay que nacen con bigote ya), descubrió muy pronto su vocación por la marcha , tanto musical como de otros tipos y era muy solicitado en el coro local así como en comuniones y bodas donde amenizaba a los invitados con con su metro treinta de estatura, su clara voz angelical de Constantino Romero y su tendencia a ventilarse el Whisky y ostiar a los que llevaban las arras.

El chiquitín ya apuntaba maneras, maneras a las que estaban llamados otros grandes como George Best, pero eso es otra historia.

Su carrera musical propiamente dicha comenzó alla por el año 1963, cuando la mayoria de nosotros no eramos mas que unos espermatozoides felices que saltaban de un huevo a otro, como vocalista de  ”Tommy Scott & the senators”, un grupo que alcanzó gran popularidad en su barrio y tres estancos a la redonda, hoy dia se habria hecho cantante de Death metal.  Tras la disolución del grupo y varios meses intentando convencer discograficas y haciando bolos en clubes sin mucho exito, el productor Gordon Mills le vio su potencial y se lo llevo a Londres.

Estaba naciendo el tigre de Gales.

Despues de lanzar un primer disco (Chills and fever) que no tuvo mucho exito, el gran Tom publicó en 1965, el que seria verdaderamente su album de presentación al mundo y que contenia el single que le haria famoso forever and ever: It´s not unusual.

¿Que me decis de las pintas? Parece un cruce entre el capitan Kirk y Curro Jimenez, algo así solo podia ocurrir en los 60.

Ya en este single se podia apreciar en toda magnitud las caracteristicas que lo hacian unico: Su tremendo chorro de voz, su tecnica para dominarlo y sobre todo ese aire de chulazo macarrón que volveria locas a las feminas del Reino unido y dependencias de ultramar.

Sin lugar a dudas fué uno de los notables de los 60, llegando a ponerle banda sonora a las peliculas del momento como “Operación Trueno” (y no estoy seguro de que el titulo de la peli no fuera por el) y la que no se puede sino calificar como la peli de la decada: “What´s new, pussicat”.

Pelicula que recomiendo encarecidamente, es el espiritu de toda una decada y una revolución, amén de muy divertida. Por otro lado si os fijais bien en el personaje de Peter Sellers quiza podais encontrar en quien se basó Mike Myers para crear cierto agente secreto:

Hablando de su estilo musical he oido de todo, desde cantante melodico, pop, e incluso rock, no creo que se le pueda encasillar en ningún genero determinado, demasiado cañero para ser melodico, demasiado canalla para ser pop, demasiado pastelón para ser rock, demasiado blanco para ser negro, quiza su genero musical sea precisamente “demasiado”.

Hay quien dice que es una oda a los malos tratos, yo no la veo por ninguna parte, pero bueno, suele decirlo el mismo tipo de vengadores del pasado que dice que Ghandi era un machista que pegaba a su mujer (y no es coña, hasta se sacó un libro sobre el tema).

En este blog hay un apartado para ellos, se llama el rincón del gilipollas.

En el apartado personal, pese a haberse casado bastante joven, el amigo Tom, quiza para no defraudar su fama, fue todo un pichabrava, contando con alguna que otra Miss Universo en su haber (aunque el autentico experto de la epoca en eso era George Best).

Los años 70 y 80 no le fueron tan bien a Tom, su rollo no estaba tan de moda y vivió esas dos decadas saltando entre shows en Las Vegas y platós de variedades (aunque tuvo su propio programa, “This is Tom Jones” y sacó varios discos), el ultimo mazazo se lo llevó en 1986 con la muerte de su productor y amigo Gordon Mills, pero lejos de amilanarse (era demasiado machote para ello) y con ayuda de su hijo Mark , que se convirtió en su nuevo productor, se decidió a relanzarse al estrellato en 1987 con canciones como “A boy from Nowhere” y sobre todo con una gloriosa versión, junto con Art of noise, de la canción de Prince “Kiss”:

Durante la misma decada tambien se prodiga por la pantalla con apariciones estelares en “El principe de Bel Air” donde es el Obi Wan de Carlton (ahí le conocí yo) y salvando al mundo de la invasión marciana en “Mars Attacks”, no colocaré estos videos por ser demasiado conocidos.

Lo que no me explico es como siendo una de las referencias de las que mas orgulloso se siente Tim Burton (“se me ocurrio meter a Tom Jones en Mars Attacks, porque de haber una persona idonea para salvar el mundo, ese seria el”), no se ha convertido automaticamente en un idolo gotico y no la pavisosa de Cristhina Ricci.

so i know i missed another day of this, but i was busy. monday evening i chilled at my boo’s house (the iraq veteran i mentioned in the last post), he hasn’t officially asked me to be his girlfriend yet, so i’m just calling him my boo for right now. we had so much fun. his house has a wraparound enclosed screen porch, and we periodically chilled out there for cigarette breaks. there’s empty flower pots all over the porch that they use for ashtrays. he shares the house with three roommates, one of whom is a huge stoner. so me and him smoked a bowl together that was the SHIT. and of course me and my boo couldn’t keep our hands off each other for very long so we periodically made sweet sweet love in his room, which is conveniently right behind the porch, so if you open the windows in his room you can converse with people on the porch. one time after sex, i stayed in bed wrapped in his comforter naked, while he went out to the porch for a smoke, and he opened the window between us and let me have a few drags through the window. it was so romantic. then later, he made us chicken tenders and fish sticks and pizza bites, which were quite yummy and we watched austin powers with his buddies. then later, we were laying next to each other after sex and he was telling me how beautiful i was and i was telling him how sexy his voice was, and how i’m a sucker for sexy voices, and then i asked him if he could sing. and he started doing these corny raps, lol, which led us to me admitting to having the biggest crush on eminem when i was younger, which led to me pulling out my mp3 player and we shared the earplugs and listened to music together for a long time. the first song we listened to was “superman” by eminem cuz when i told him about my crush, the first lyrics he thought of was “we just met, and i just fucked you” from that song. it was so cute, we were sharing my earbuds, listening to that song, and i was doing the girl part and he was doing em’s part, and at the end, he was like “this should totally be our song” hahahaha.

i had class at 9:30 the next day, and it takes me about an hour to get back on the bus to my apartment from his house (5 minutes by car, how crazy is that?), but i hate rushing, so i woke up when he woke up, and while i was supposed to be in my first class, i was instead having morning sex with my boo. then he made me some coffee and sent me on my way so he could get ready for work, and while i was supposed to be in my second class, i was riding the city bus through downtown watching construction dudes put up christmas wreaths on the streetlights. now, i’m not one for being all “too cool for school”, but i definitely felt like a badass that morning.

when i got back from my last class of the day and was officially on thanksgiving break, i got something to eat and chilled on the couch, having a beer and watching a law and order svu marathon. later, i said goodbye to my roommate who was leaving that night. then, my buddy matt came over and we watched spaceballs, and yes, i let him fuck me again, i wasn’t sure how our friends-with-benefits relationship was gonna change now that i was seeing this other guy, but so far, not much has changed. i told him all about my boo, and he’s so kind and understanding, he thinks it’s great that i have someone like that. he said he’d totally be cool with us being just friends with no benefits, but that didn’t work out so well….

this morning, i met up with this guy named jay, whose mother works with my father and they arranged for us to carpool together when going home for thanksgiving break. he turned out to be a pretty cool dude and the four hour trip home went really smoothly for the most part. we mostly talked about music the whole way. he likes country and rock and jimmy buffett and tracy chapman, lol, and we bonded over our similar concert experiences. that’s what’s great about being well-versed in all different kinds of music–i can connect with pretty much anyone about their favorite music.

i don’t know if i’ll be able to blog for the next two days, cuz i’m not sure if i’ll have computer access. i’m traveling down a couple states to visit my mother’s side of the family and celebrate both my grandfather’s birthday and thanksgiving. i can’t say i’m looking forward to it, as i am by far the blackest sheep in the whitest family (personality-wise, not race-wise). plus, they don’t know that i have sex or smoke, so i’m gonna have to make it two whole days without either….phew, this is gonna be tough. god, i can’t wait for saturday.

I have noticed Volkswagen Beetle has been dragged up onto the big screen all over the world. The film ‘Austin Powers, The Spy Who Shagged Me’ used the car because it had a very 60’s vibe! Not only that but the Beetle has made quite the impact on the animated screen in ‘The Simpsons’, ‘American Dad’ and ‘Family Guy’, all  of which have depicted the car in their series., even animated Mr Bean drives a version of the Beetle, and Ugly Betty. I’m not too sure why this car is so popular, but i do think it has something to do with the unusual shape of the Volkswagen Beetle, Aberdeen is swarming with these little bug cars and too right, they are beautiful, extremely spacious inside and completely unique. They can be a pain to park but just takes practice.

Demorei o máximo que pude para ver esse filme. Para falar a verdade, eu nem queria ver esse filme. A razão? Medo. Meu maior medo era o hype imenso que esse filme carregava em cima dele. A fita nem tinha começado sua vida nos cinemas e todos já diziam que seria “o melhor filme de todos”. Confesso que sou um pouco (pouco é muito e muito é pouco) chato. Principalmente quando gosto de algo. E sempre gostei dos filmes do Tarantino. Não, eu não acho o cara um gênio. Acho um ótimo e divertido diretor. O maior triunfo do Tarantino é saber lidar bem com o clichê. Algo que todos tentam e a maioria fede ao fazer tentar fazer isso. Tarantino trabalhava numa locadora. Ou seja, estava rodeado pelo clichê o dia inteiro. Afinal, os filmes que costumam passar nas televisões das locadoras são, em sua maioria, algo que se tornou clichê com o tempo. Junte se a isso o seu talento e ironia referente à violência e você têm um ótimo diretor. Seu primeiro roteiro foi “Assassinos por Natureza”/ “Natural Born Killers” (com Juliette Lewis, Robert Downey Jr. e Tommy Lee Jones no elenco) o qual Oliver Stone dirigiu. Talvez seu maior roteiro, mesmo sendo bastante revisado pelo próprio Stone.

O primeiro roteiro de Tarantino já mostra o quanto ele é light.

Também não vi Burn After Reading/Queime Depois de Ler pelo mesmo motivo. Muito é falado antes de o filme ser lançado. E também é de um dos meus cineastas favoritos. O fato dos irmãos Cohen terem entrado no mainstream me assusta até hoje.

Quem já acompanha as peripécias deste blog sabe que costumo mais descer o pau do que elogiar: tirando Y: The Last Man, Ren & Stimpy e Billy & Mandy eu fui só reclamações e maldições. Mas de qualquer forma, não fiz tantas resenhas assim…

Então já deve ter alguém pensando: lá vai esse chato descer o pau no filme. Mas…

…o filme é muito bom! É melhor que Pulp Fiction? Não! É melhor que Kill Bill? É igual e diferente do mesmo modo. Ver um filme do Tarantino tem sempre uma sensação parecida, mais ou menos como ver Kubrick pós-Lolita. A sensação é parecida e os filmes não. Tarantino já conseguiu deixar sua marca no seu modo de fazer filmes. Não sei como explicar, mas quem conhece o trabalho dele já sacou o que eu quis dizer. Assim como Kubrick tinha aquele modo de sempre valorizar aqueles sorrisos aterrorizantes, cenas no banheiro e outras coisas. Não me entendam mal. Não estou comparando um com o outro. Kubrick era um gênio. Um dos maiores da história do cinema. Tarantino ainda não o é. É ótimo e divertido. Mas não sei. Ainda falta algo e tive a impressão de que com Bastardos Inglórios ele deu mostras de que está à procura desse algo mais.

Bastardos Inglórios é o chamado Historical Fiction (ficção histórica). A fita se passa na Segunda Guerra Mundial (entendam que esse era mais um dos meus medos: Nazistas de novo?!). Mas Tarantino não esgotou ainda mais o assunto. O nazismo e a guerra podem passar apenas como coisas secundárias.

Agora, para não falar só de Tarantino, o elenco foi muito bem escolhido. Começando com Christoph Waltz (“Ordinary Decent Criminal” / “Um Criminoso Decente” – vejam esse filme também!) no papel de Hans Landa. Waltz é o melhor no filme. Sua atuação é bárbara e mereceu o Cannes de melhor ator. Michael Fassbender (“Bando of Brothers” e “300”) como Lt. Archie Hicox (o inglês que troca tiros na virilha no pub) muito bem também. Eli Roth (demorei a lembrar quem era esse doidão. Ele faz parte do grupo Splat Pack, que é um grupo de cineastas de filmes de terror que decidiram voltar a fazer filmes de terror mesmo – pesados, “Saw”/ “Jogos Mortais” é de um diretor desse grupo. Eli Roth é o diretor de “O Albergue” que, confesso, não sou fã) é Donny Donowitz / O Urso Judeu, impecável sua ultima aparição na qual ele atira em Hitler até o rosto dele virar pedaços de carne moída no liquidificador. Diane Kruger (a Helena em “Troy” / “Tróia” e Abigail Chase em “A Lenda do Tesouro Perdido”) interpreta Bridget von Hammersmark. Diane Kruger já foi uma modelo de sucesso na década de 90, se não estou enganado. Que bom que deixou de ser modelo, parece que sob a correta direção e em um filme bom (diferente dos citados na qual ele atuou) ela tem talento. Daniel Brühl (“Adeus Lênin” e “The Edukators”) é Fredrick Zoller, ou o herói de guerra alemão. O cara é realmente bom. É só ver os filmes que o cara fez. Til Schweiger (“Tomb Raider” e “Rei Arthur”) é  o alemão que muda de lado. O cara no filme é hilário. Não sabia que o cara era bom (afinal olha os filmes que eu citei que ele fez), mas ele o é. Mélanie Laurent faz Shoshana. Essa eu não conhecia, mas também é muito boa. Omar Doom é Omar Ulmer. Gedeon Burkhard é o tradutor dos Bastardos. B.J. Novak (“The Office”) é o Little Man (não lembro bem como ficou em português, se foi Pequenino ou algo do tipo). Mike Myers (o Austin Powers) é o general inglês que comanda a idéia do assassinato de Hitler. Rod Taylor (“A Máquina do Tempo” de 1960, baseado no livro de H.G. Wells) faz o Wiston Churchil. Denis Menochet (“Hannibal Rising”) faz o fazendeiro francês do inicio do filme. Christian Berkel (“Operação Valquíria”) é o barman do pub onde rola aqueles tiros na virilha. Jacky Ido (esse eu não conheço) faz Marcel. August Diehl (“The Counterfeiters” e “The Ninth Day”, ambos alemães) é o oficial da Gestapo, especialista em sotaques, que troca tiros na virilha. Alexander Fehling (“And Along Come Tourists”, também alemão) é o cara que está comemorando o nascimento do filho onde dão tiros na virilha. Sylvester Groth é Josef Goebbels, ministro da propaganda de Hitler. Groth também interpretou Goebbels na comédia My Leader – The Truly Truest Truth about Adolf Hitler (também alemã). Quem também interpretou Goebbels foi Martin Wuttke – que é Hitler no filme de Tarantino – no filme Rosenstrasse (alemão também, mas se tiverem tempo – e paciência para achar – vejam). Julie Dreyfus (Sofie Fatale em “Kill Bill”) é a interprete francesa de Goebbels. O curioso é que parte do elenco desse filme são também diretores. Um exemplo disso é Enzo G. Castellari que no filme é um general nazista. Castellari é um diretor italiano, conhecido pelos seus Spaghetti Western como Any Gun Can Play, Kill Them All and Come Back Alone, Seven Wichesters For a Massacre e,…, The Inglorious Bastards – Quel maledetto treno blindato. Os bastardos de Castellari e de Tarantino são parecidos. Com certeza o filme de Castellari inspirou Tarantino. Os Bastardos no filme de Castellari são soldados americanos que estão sendo levados para uma prisão militar quando um ataque aéreo alemão acaba os “soltando” ao matar todos os guardas. Os soldados decidem fugir e acabam fazendo parte de um plano que consiste em roubar o giroscópio de um foguete V-2 nazista que se encontra em um trem extremamente protegido por nazistas.

The Ingloriou Bastards de Castellari.

Ué, e o Brad Pitt? Bom, Brad Pitt é um grande ator. Quando ele não faz papéis de heróis entediados ou de galã supersexy (como Aquiles em “Tróia” ou Sr. e Sra. Smith) ele manda muito. É só ver filmes como Thelma & Louise, Across the Tracks, Kalifornia (acho que foi aí onde ele aprendeu esse sotaque que ele tem em Bastardos Inglórios), Interview with the Vampire, Lendas da Paixão, Seven (Sete Pecados Capitais), Os Doze Macacos, Fight Club (Clube da Luta), Snatch (mais uma vez ele faz um sotaque genial), Babel, …, deu para entender, né? Ou seja, quando o papel e o filme é bom, ele arrebenta. Por isso não vou ficar falando o quanto ele foi bem nos Bastardos. Tentei falar mais dos outros que, para a grande maioria, são desconhecidos.

…em filme de tarantino nunca falta sangue e nem Samuel L. Jackson. Ele não atua, mas é o narrador. Poucas vezes narra, é verdade, mas ele está lá.

Minha conclusão é: se não viu, veja por você mesmo. Se já viu, sabe do que estou falando.

Perhaps I need to take some time to explain how this build works. Before using it in your game, though, you’ll need to check how your group/GM would interpret the interaction between the Shield Slam and Greater Bull Rush feats. Anyway, even if your group wouldn’t allow shield-bashed-triggered bull rush triggered attacks of opportunity, these two fighters could still be used as part of an interesting, and perhaps comical, combat encounter – by making clever use of Combat Reflexes, Lunge, shield bashes, bull rushes and readied actions, Ping and Pong can turn their opponents into tennis balls.

To man this pair up, you could always consider a dwarf and halfling called Hammer and Anvil.

I chose to give them light shields and scimitars purely for look and feel reasons. To make them a bit more combat efficient, you might consider a heavy spiked shield and light slashing or bludgeoning weapon. At higher levels, take a look at a bashing enhancement for the shields (if not spiked).

You could also think about giving up the Power Attack feat tree for Weapon Finesse, Agile Maneuvers and more Two-Weapon Fighting goodness.

Be thankful that I didn’t give them any of these feats.

The phases of life are pretty interesting. We are really into one thing, then another then another. Could be maturation. Could be capriciousness or dilettantism. Lately I am less concerned with micromanaging these phases, but I get a little bothered when they impede my ability to do things I like. For instance, I have had the hardest time writing these past few days. My brain is full and my eyes are open. But – nothing seems to be happening. I mean, lots of things are happening, just absent of words.

The Orange Film Adverts really have become part of the cinema experience over the past few years now. Wondering when it is eventually going to change after months and months of the same advert, telling you to switch off your mobile phone. So I thought I would have a little trip down memory lane and pick out my top 10 of the adverts. This could be amusing and annoying, having a look back through the adverts which you do talk about a lot. It is very good to see the actors allowing their movies or parts to be made fun of in jest.

do believe there is always a dr. evil inside every of us, concisously or subconciously. i yell myself missing the ferry…i curse my boss when he’s being unreasonable…or being in a situation encountering those incredibably and inconsiderably mean people. friend of mine told me recently that he find dr evil in me. without the power to destroy the world i do humbly agree (sometimes) these evil spirit do exist. its disgraceful but yet who hasn’t.

Imagine this, gentlemen: You’re walking through the streets, and at the corner you come across a beautiful woman, clad in nothing but a frilly bra and underwear. As she looks at you seductively, using the hottest /dance emote available, she says “4g 4 l4p d4nc3.” All of a sudden, you notice something about her is wrong. The chin, the hairy arms, the Adam’s Apple. IT’S A MAN, BABY!

If you’re a player who enjoys the occasional pixelated groping, or you work as a GM on Age of Conan, you’ll be glad to hear that, at least on King of the World that you won’t have to worry about that woman actually being a man behind the screen. Taking the phrase “pics or it didn’t happen” literally, and requires players to submit webcam pictures of themselves, otherwise male players playing as female avatars will be banned.

As far as I can tell, female players are welcome to play as male avatars, the rule does not work in reverse. Aurora Technology is a Chinese MMO company, who created King of the World, and publishes Aion, Dungeons and Dragons Online, and Company of Heroes Online. Gamepolitics references to stereotypes in the online community that decide that men playing as female characters are somehow secretly homosexual.

I have a question on this debate though: As a male, does owning Metroid Prime Trilogy on the Wii make me a homosexual? I’m playing as Samus Aran, who we all know is completely female. How about Blood Rayne? Final Fantasy (ZING), Tomb Raider? The Sims (Don’t answer that).

Also, this is coming off as just a skosh bit perverted. Imagine the reaction women will have when they attempt to create a female avatar, and are told they have to provide pictures of themselves or be otherwise banned. Let’s hope perversion isn’t one of the many laws that end in execution in China.

So when your friend tells you “there are no women in King of the World, he may not be that far from the truth.If Aurora Technology moves this into the games they publish, let’s hope NCsoft and Turbine make a Codemasters out of them and pull their rights out from beneath their feet.

The title says it all. Seriously, look at the two of them at the bottom of this page and tell me I’m wrong; you can’t. This must be why it took the normally quick-to-correct folks at wikipedia fully 15 minutes to catch this gem. Enjoy:

Det er så deilig å sitte oppe sent på kvelden. Det er det som kalles kvalitetstid!

Jeg satt oppe til 04:00 i går. Jeg og Caroline drev og snakket og shit. Nå husker ikke jeg hva vi snakket om, men joda kvalitetstid. Og det er jo ganske gøy, og sitte oppe om kvelden. Når du skal gjøre ABSOLUTT ingenting. Så på kveldsfilm på Tv3. Austin Powers, etterfulgt av The Simpsons på Viasat 4.

Etter det satt jeg bare og surfet litt på nettet. Så etter noe fun. Fant ikke så mye, og når Caroline gikk og la seg, gjorde jeg det samme. Bortsett fra at jeg leste en god del Pondus, og så sovnet jeg.

Våknet av mamma som vekket meg. Hun trodde jeg la meg klokka halv 3, men nei. Nå er jeg frisk og opplagt og skal spille litt Football Manager 2009!

… men det visste dere vel fra før?

Jeg lover noe jeg ikke kan holde. Jeg sier jeg skal blogge mer, og jeg sier jeg skal lage andmeldelser. Hvor er andmeldelsene, og hvor er blogg innleggene? Ærlig talt, det ligger jo ikke engang kladd her! Uff… nei. Men så skjer det mye i løpet av denne tiden, så jeg kan jo fortelle litt.

For det første har jeg og Stian nylig laget flamewar mot n00bfags og sånne dudes på 1001spill. Nightman viser seg jo og være morsom og flame. Blitt en del gullkorn av han ja. Men yndlingen min er jo selvfølgelig av DNV. Hvordan kan man glemme? “GTA: Biltyveri” (Fra tråden “Hvis du skulle laget et spill, hva skulle det handlet om?”). Nei, skal nok få presset flere gullkorn ut av han.

Jeg snublet over tidenes kuleste sang/musikkvideo forleden. Og jeg kan ikke slutte og le.

Sett litt på Austin Powers, men det som suger med kombinasjonen ustoppelig film + vondt i magen er at jeg alltid må på dritern. Og da går jeg glipp av filmen, og da blir jeg sur på meg selv. Blir selvfølgelig ikke emoshitkid som Nightman, men huff jeg blir sur.

While in quick transit from the VIP backstage area to the main room of the Muhammad Ali fundraiser (slash) awesome party, I saw Robert Wagner. He was the only person in the hall that wasn’t headed towards the festivities. Rather, he was standing alone, tall and fancy in his tux with no real expression on his face (as if he was waiting for his date to return from the baño). Hummm…. Robert Wagner…? Let’s see. I can’t name any of his movies pre-Austin Powers (in which he did a fabulous job as implied potty humor). And I really only remember watching him on TV (while eating dinner in my yellow bean bag) in Hart to Hart. (1970s baby!!!!!!!) But he’s a celebrity so he counts. I stopped by for a quicky. “Um, hello. Can you take my picture?” (In a nutshell.) Click. And we’re out. Thank you, NEXT! Just 100 seconds. A brief interaction that neither of us would remember if it wasn’t for this imperishable testimony.

I noticed you have a Giants cap on, you a fan?
Yea, they didn’t make it to the playoffs this year but they came close.

What kind of car do you drive?
It’s a ‘95 Buick Riviera – It’s very comfortable, a big boat.

I recently saw a safety crash video comparing old “boat” cars to newer cars and it looks like the newer cars are safer even if they are smaller, I found it pretty interesting because I used to drive a ‘87 Cadillac Deville and thought I was indestructible. (catch the video here )

What do you like to do around the area?
I like to play football and baseball.

Do you have a favorite movie?
I like Die Hard and The Hangover.

What’s the most recent movie you saw in theaters?
GI Joe. It was pretty good.

I’d put most of it away, and I’d buy a Ferrari with the rest of it.

Care to elaborate on a certain incident that happened last year at the company Christmas party?
They had a hypnotist come in and I decided to give it a try so I went up on stage and I went out right away.

So you are one of those easily hypnotizable people?
Yea, I guess I am.

Do you remember anything about it?
I remember a few parts… He told me I was pregnant and he asked me who the father was and I said I don’t know, and then told him to ask one of my colleagues.

I hear you did an imitation of Michael Jackson dancing?
I guess I did… but I can’t remember it at all.

Yea, I plan on going again.

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!  That’s me and The Lou in Muskoka last year…  Ah, The Lou.

A few quick points:

• Here’s the information on the show I’m in the mix for.
• Spoke with my manager yesterday afternoon.  Her words: “The casting director thinks you’re a choice, we don’t know about the producers yet.”
• Making the casting director a fan is 8 steps north of outstanding.  His IMDB page looks like Barry Bonds offensive stats from 2001 – 2006.  A few highlights: Zomblieland, The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Memento, Boiler Room and Austin Powers.

So now I wash my hands of this project and move onto the next one.  Whatever will be, will be.  (The future’s not mine to see…  Que sera, sera.)  If every audition follows this script (pun intended), I’m going to have some fun.
