The renovations include demolition of the existing showroom building and construction of a new, open,  two-story showroom with a 2^nd floor office mezzanine.  The building frame is of structural steel with the front façade comprised of aluminum composite panels over light guage metal framed walls, which will give it the familiar Nissan dealership look.  Side walls will be skinned with insulated metal panels, providing an attractive, cost effective wall system, and a white roofing membrane will provide heat reflection for energy savings during warmer months.  The interior will  be finished with ceramic tile floors, carpeting, and millwork. New lighting, as well as HVAC, fire protection, and electrical systems  are designed to create an inviting and comfortable environment for customers and employees.

Siding and aluminum composite metal panels (ACM) will be installed by the Jewett Metal Buildings & Steel Erectors division. The facility will be in full operation while the construction takes place, with project operations tailored to allow  for minimal disruption to the client’s customers or employees.

The four-month project involved a 5,000 SF addition and upgrades to the showroom, service write up area, offices and customer lounge.  The new areas have an open and inviting feel made possible through the extensive  use of exterior glass—which opens up the view while also lighting the space—ceramic tile floors, and a gas fireplace in the customer lounge.

All work was performed while the dealership was in full operation—adjacent to and in areas occupied by customers and staff—requiring extensive noise and dust mitigation,  as well as close coordination with dealership personnel to schedule work during off-hours and off-peak times.   Work areas were concealed by walls or temporary barriers and clearly marked, providing a safe environment for both customers and staff.

This extensive, three-phase project involved renovations and additions to the former Commonwealth Chevrolet dealership which was relocated to a new, 28,400 sf Jewett-built facility-and included the construction of a 7,300 sf steel-framed structure to house a newly designed Nissan showroom, administration and management offices; as well as renovations to other existing offices and customer waiting areas. Commonwealth Nissan’s service department and executive offices, located in the same building, remained active during renovations. This five- week, fast-tracked project included both interior and exterior renovations, including extensive office upgrades, as well as new showroom and customer areas featuring top-of-the-line finishes. Exterior renovations include new aluminum storefront and windows, and a new vestibule with updated entry element.

This is simply the latest job Jewett Automotive has undertaken for AutoServ. Earlier this year, the company  completed an addition and renovation to AutoServ’s Nissan dealership, also located in Tilton.

LEED Certification requires that buildings meet extremely high sustainability standards across six different categories—everything from water efficiency and environmental quality to innovation and design. With this in mind, fully sixty percent of the original facility was renovated as part of the new design by Jeff Margaretten of Margaretten Architectural. The project also included the erecting and fitting-out of an 11,500 sf pre-engineered metal building to house the new service bays. Renovated areas provided for larger sales, service and parts areas; customer lounges with complimentary wireless access, a children’s play area, and new Toyota portal and signage. Some of the facility’s many new features include thirty-two 400-foot-deep geothermal wells to help heat and cool the building and greatly reduce its energy consumption, thirty-six water source heat pumps, seven recycling stations, and two electric vehicle charging stations. Over the course of the project, upwards of 90 percent of all construction debris was either recycled or reused in the new facility, and construction was phased to allow for minimal disruption, as the business was in full operation throughout.

Work included concrete foundations and slabs, new CMU masonry walls, Exterior Insulated Finishing System (EIFS), new EPDM roof, overhead doors, aluminum storefront glass, and acoustic ceiling systems;  as well as plumbing, HVAC, electrical work, and all finishes. The new facility was designed by Bruce Ronayne Hamilton Architects of New Ipswich, NH and engineered by Summit Engineering of Portsmouth, NH. Jewett’s Project Manager for the job was Steve Harris; Project Superintendent was Jeff Gower. A Grand Opening was held December 5^th.

Work included demolition of an existing building and the construction of a new 28,400 sf facility consisting of a 12,600 sf pre-engineered steel building service bay structure and a 15,800 sf conventional steel framed building for a new automobile showroom, administration/management offices, utility areas and parts storage.  The frame and exterior construction is a combination of structural steel frame and pre-engineered metal building with insulated panel, aluminum composite panel, and EIFS.  The interior is fitted with decorative flooring, trims and casework.  Project innovations included the use of waste oil heaters in the service areas.

The new facility is designed to provide the employees and their customers with a bright, welcoming and comfortable atmosphere which will improve productivity and enhance the overall car-buying experience.

The project involved renovating an existing 16,000 SF single-story masonry and steel-framed building into a new, state-of-the-art auto showroom, offices and service department.  Interior upgrades included new structural steel and interior masonry walls; ceiling systems; tile, carpet and all finishes; design/build fire sprinkler systems; and plumbing and electrical systems. Exterior renovations involved installation of the new Hyundai gateway and new glass and aluminum storefront.

This is just the latest project Jewett Automotive has undertaken for the Fenton Family Dealerships, having renovated and/or built additions for both their Subaru of Keene and Toyota of Keene facilities in recent years. The current project entails an exterior face lift to the existing building, including the addition of  EIFS and metal panels.

The project involved renovations to several existing areas and the construction of a new 14,000 sf addition incorporating elements from both Hyundai and the Jewett design team. New features include a well-lit showroom on the sales floor, new vehicle drop off and comfortable customer service area. A combination of finishes—glazing, EFIS, Metal Panel and split-faced block—adorn the exterior. Lot improvements include new concrete sidewalks, landscaping, elevated vehicle display area, and re-grading and asphalt pavement throughout most of the building site. An open house is planned for mid-March.

The dealership remained open for business throughout the multi-phased project, despite the challenge of providing ongoing access to service bays and the redirection of sales traffic to a temporary sales building.
