Que un cartel cinematográfico peque de poco original no es algo nuevo. Lo cierto es que cualquier poster te puede recordar a otro debido a su diseño. No hace mucho IP se hizo eco de algunos protagonizados por Steven Seagal. Pero si coges cualquiera de Harrison Ford, Tom Cruise o Will Smith, verás no pocas similitudes. Y sólo he puesto tres actores al azar. Ahí se suele decir que el actor o la actriz vende por sí solos. Con lo que su rostro en el cartel es de obligada inclusión. Es más, si es posible que ocupe el 75 u 80 por ciento del cartel. El resto poco importa. De ahí que no sepas de que carajo puede ir la trama, excepto porque ponen el título de la película y eso puede dar alguna que otra pista al respecto.

El de “Avatar” no es que sea precisamente una copia de “Terminator Salvation”. Y la cuarta entrega de Terminator seguro que tambien recordaría en su momento a otro cartel. La gracia, y lo que me ha llamado la atención es que en las dos sale Sam Worthington con medio rostro. Si bien en Salvation jugaban con el efecto de las sombras y el villano separándolo a él y a Christian Bale. En Avatar juegan con él y con su “avatar”. No es por ser exigente, pero me habría gustado algo más novedoso. Eso de acabar en lo fácil siempre es aburrido.

During class this week, we talked about Facebook and how it is our avatar. This avatar is constantly online to represent ourselves in the virtual world. Below is a video that is called “Facebook Song”. I found it funny how it related to our class discussion with pictures, friends, adn the information you share with yourself.

Bueno esta es una peli que se va a estrenar el 17 de diciembre, habla acerca de que los humanos quieren explotar tierras nuevas en un mundo diferente en donde existen seres diferentes.

Para resolver esto crean una nueva especie, un “avatar” , que es la union de los habitantes de ese mundo con el ADN de un soldado, pasa esto y pues el señor se adapta al nuevo mundo y se da cuenta de lo que pasa.

Sam Worthington is heading back to the future again.

The “Avatar” star, who recently toplined “Terminator Salvation,” is attached to star in yet another sci-fier: “The Last Days of American Crime.”

Set in the not-too-distant future, story involves the U.S. government’s plans to secretly broadcast a signal that makes it impossible for anyone to knowingly commit unlawful acts.

Based on Rick Remender’s comicbook of the same name, “Last Days of American Crime” will hit shelves next month as a bi-monthly, three-issue miniseries. Greg Tocchini illustrates.

Barry Levine, who heads up the comicbook’s publisher Radical Publishing, is producing alongside Michael Schwarz.

Worthington is currently shooting the John Madden-helmed remake of “The Debt” opposite Helen Mirren. The thesp, who toplines Warner Bros.’s epic “Clash of the Titans,” recently dropped out of the GK Films thriller “The Tourist” — in which he would have starred opposite Angelina Jolie — over creative differences. Johnny Depp is now aboard to star.

Damit bin ich nicht einverstanden und ziehe meine Konsequenzen. Mein x-street Shop wird geschlossen, sobald das umgesetzt wird.

Designen ist für mich überwiegend der Spaß daran kreativ zu sein und ich gebe meine Dinge auch gerne kostenlos ab, z.B. mein Geschenk an alle Newbies. Für mich ist das Geld, das ich hier verdiene nicht vorrangig und ich horte es auch nicht unter meinem Bett. Der Spaß an Sl ist das, was mich motiviert, nicht der Profit.

Ich selber habe schöne, kreative, witzige, nützliche …Dinge als Freebie über x-street erhalten und hatte viel Spaß damit. Danke an all diejenigen, die ihre Kreationen frei weitergegeben haben.  Gerade auch als Newbie habe ich auf diesem Weg viele gute Dinge erhalten. X-street hat den Vorteil leicht das zu finden, was man sucht, aber ich denke, dies gehört bald der Vergangenheit an.

Schade ist, dass viele neue Jungdesigner und Hersteller nun völlig chancenlos gegen die großen Konkurrenten sind, weil mit den Gebühren ein wichtiger Marktzweig als Startpunkt fehlt. Ich wünsche allen aber trotzdem viel Glück.

Ich selber habe die Petition mit unterzeichnet, die gegen diese Umstellung ist und hoffe und wünsche, es werden mehr die sie unterzeichnen.

I would like to include a link to the Bella Fantasique blog that Missy started when her virtual fashion brand concept was developed in the summer of 2009.  After  Missy’s SL Virtual Internship Interview ended and I uploaded the podcast, I thought of some additional questions others may have for Missy regarding this entire virtual internship experience. I sent the questions to Missy and her responses are below.

1. Are your Second Life experiences relavant to any of your fashion education classes? If so in what way? 

My Second Life experiences are related to two fashion classes I have taken at Buffalo State college thus far, FTT208:Introduction to Fashion Technologies and FTT308: FashionCAD. Both are fashion CAD classes, using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Once I learned the basics in those two classes, I was able to learn so much more about those programs.
 
2. Do you feel that the experiences that you are simulating in second life regarding developing a brand and coordinated fashion lines, presenting and merchandising your brand integrates and simulates the knowledge and skills that you are learning in your fashion education classes?

If anything else, Second Life inspires me. I am eager to create and design garments and have the ability to change what I am making with a simple click of a button, instead of having to completely redo a sewn garment. I am faster at finding ways to get things done more efficiently in my fashion classes.
 
3. Are your fashion design and merchandising related experiences in Second Life providing you with a clearer  picture of what is involved in the real world design and merchandising process? If so how?

Second Life is making having a fashion line real to me. It’s a fast pace enviroment and putting your ideas into Photoshop and Illustrator and then into Second Life virtually shows an image of what my designs would look like on a body, without the cost of materials and sewing time. I like seeing the progression of sketches to actual garments, and it cuts time so much shorter to see it on a virtual body first to make sure everything looks they way I want it. I also have always had a love for marketing and the business side of fashion, and I get to do this in SL by running my store and modeling. So it’s the best of both worlds… literally. [note from e.polvinen: Missy really does mean this literally because the Lindens $L she makes from selling her virtual fashions are easily converted into $US dollars.]
 
4. Would you recommend a virtual fashion design and merchandising experience to other fashion students?

I absolutely would recommend virtual design to other fashion students because that is where technology is taking us. If we have the programs available, it doesn’t hurt to get familiar with them, in order to make presentations and amazing concept boards. So many things are done now with the computer, so why not make fashion with it too?

Se ha comentado ya la duración definitiva de la película de James Cameron, AVATAR, que se estrena el ya muy cercano 18 de Diciembre.
Se sabía que no superaría los 170 minutos, ya que es el límite físico de los Rolling Loops del cine IMAX (hay compromiso de Cameron de estrenar en IMAX), parece estar cifrado en 85 minutos, pero parece que serán 150 minutos la duración definitiva.
Os aseguro que si la ponen en las salas IMAX 3D de Madrid y Barcelona, se hinchan a vender entradas.
Yo compraré seguro alguna entrada si se estrena en IMAX 3D, aunque es de esas películas, que al menos veré 2 veces (quizás hasta 4 veces – una en cada sistema 3D).

Twentieth Century Fox, Coke and McDonalds are about to test the emerging technology’s mettle as a marketing tool to promote the Dec. 18 release of “Avatar,” the first live-action movie to be produced and released entirely in stereoscopic 3-D.

A couple of weeks ago, I had an opportunity to go to lunch with the guys at Total Immersion responsibile for the Avatar AR campaign, Bruno Uzzan and Greg Davis. At their office, I got a sneak peek at the AR enhanced AVTR Coke can, and checked out the Avatar Mattel Toys and i-Tag’s too. Clearly, the Avatar AR campaign is a significant milestone in what is truly the dawn of AR marketing.

The AdAge article asked – Will Efforts by Coke, McDonald’s to Plug Fox’s Much-Anticipated Movie Finally Take Nascent Tech Mainstream?

I respond to this question with the following comments…

I am excited to see this campaign come to life, and believe it represents the dawn of AR marketing in a big way… highlighting how mega brands and products will come to life with added engagement, and rich-media to further enhance the customer experience.

Today’s webcam campaigns are clearly more about the wow-factor of triggering holographic-like animations off of an everyday item. As we quickly move from glyph-like codes (i.e Esquire mag) to natural feature tracking (i.e branded logos). The evolution of hardware and software will only lead to more robust, compelling and informative marketing campaigns. And mobile… will change everything!

The power of mobile AR will truly revolutionize how marketing is done. Smartphones can be used to unlock a deeper / hidden layer of content tied to the people, places and things all around us. The power and potential of that cannot be denied. We are just getting started with AR marketing.

So, will efforts by Coke, McDonalds to plug Avatar take nascent tech mainstream? Absolutely! I would argue that these mega-brands and franchises are not rolling the dice on AR technology, but rather understand where this technology is headed, and the power that it brings. We should look to these mainstreams brands to realize the right time to step in is now.

Some times I am very lazy in Second Life, and do not change my clothes more than 3-6 times a year, but there are things that I really like in Second Life.

It is the possibility of having an up-do hair, and wearing high heel shoes. Those two things together, really is nice. I think there is a good reason to that, and I will try to describe why I think so.

There was a blogpost back in 2008 about “Maslow’s hierachy of needs”  where somebody created a computer science version of this. Unfortunately that post is now gone, but to describe in short on the lowest level WEB 1.0 was placed, at the middle level WEB 2.0 was placed, and on the top level it showed Virtual Worlds and WEB 3.0

I have thought about that,and for me using WEB 1.0, WEB 2.0 and virtual worlds, the major attraction seen from my point of view. is that in a virtual world it is possible to create ‘me’,  to change clothes, to talk about private stuff, to have up-do’es, high heels, galla dresses, look slim and fit, never look tired, meet up with one or more friends for 1 minutes, 10 minutes, several hours.

Couldn’t it be that the need on the web now is  in the upper part of “Maslows hierachy of needs pyramid”. The need for self expression and realization using Virtual Worlds?

My family and I went to a movie last night, and out of the 6 cinemas, they only offer 2012 and New Moon. A little short of movie offerings this week. Anyway, we decided to watch New Moon, since the rest of my family have already seen 2012, and my sister would kill us if we didn’t watch New Moon.

It’s the second day, so still a lot of people, eventhough it’s the last screening. The movie started around 10pm. But we entered the cinema much earlier because we want to catch the trailers of upcoming shows. I liked the trailers of both movies that deals with aliens, Avatar and Planet 51. I thought it was interesting that they portray the humans as the invading force instead of the typical alien invation. Definitely I want to watch Sherlock Holmes, since I’ve been reading his stories since I was in grade school, and it will be interesting to watch the detective on screen. I’m hesitant about the Christmas Carol, since I’m tired of the storyline, but then it’s Jim Carey, there might be some surprises there. I’ve also seen that Nicholas Sparks movie trailer, I think it’s Dear John. The story looks fine, but I don’t enjoy crying at the movies, so I’m going to have to pass.

Now, about New Moon. I’ve read the whole series. I didn’t know about them until Twilight came out. And since I’ve learned from Harry Potter not to watch the movie until I’ve read the book, I read the 4 books first before I’ve watched Twilight. Out of all the books, I have to say that New Moon, I didn’t enjoy too much. So I wasn’t harboring any high expectations about the movie to begin with, which I think is a good thing so then I will not be disappointed too much, in case the movie didn’t live up to its hype.

Anyway, it’s a good thing the movie didn’t focus too much on Bella’s depression. But I have to say she’s really good on screen, looking pale and everything. Jacob, really felt sorry for him at the story. I couldn’t even begin to imagine how it must have felt to outright beg for the girl to stay with you, and bluntly to be told no. Ouch, poor guy. You thought you have a good thing going, then when the other guy shows up again, you return to the “doghouse”.

Edward. Not too much screen time this time, which is to be expected, of course. Hmm, but it doesn’t feel right somehow that he got owned during the fight with Felix. I thought he could have done a better job than that. He really looked like a wimp this time. I know he couldn’t do anything about Jane, but at least he could have at least broken from the hold Felix had on him. Hmm, maybe he got weak because of what Jane did to him, I don’t know. Hmm, I didn’t get that feeling of “Edward’s finally here!” like I did in the book, I wonder why?

Charlie, I wish he could have more screen time. I enjoyed him in Twilight, he was very, very funny. His quiet way of speaking doesn’t prepare you to how funny his words are.

The wolf pack, um, not to sound so demanding, but I wish they could have buff up more. Sam and Jacob, I think it’s okay. But the rest could have been bigger in their human form. Not because I like looking at buff-up guys, well, okay, yeah, but I thought they look a little scrawny to me. And I remember in the books that they are supposedly like seven foot tall, big-muscled kind of guys. Hmm, maybe because they’re still young wolves? Well, I don’t know about that either, it’s been a year since I’ve read the book anyway. But the wolves in their “wolf form” is great. You can really get the impression that they can fight vampires and win. 

The human friends, still there, and they’re okay. Especially that girl Bella’s with when they went out to see a movie. Although I don’t like her character, very two-faced, but I can understand her annoyance to Bella when Bella left her to ride a motorcycle with some guy. If that had happened to me, I really wouldn’t even know what to do, probably call Bella’s Dad.

Okay, so since I wasn’t expecting too much, I wasn’t disappointed. I had a fine time with my family.

I refuse to take it off – especially now that i own it in every color – i <3 fatpacks). So…yea, this is the last home I’m buying for awhile (3rd one in 2 weeks!!) I don’t know why i have been on such a house buying streak lately but i do blame Jordan Giant since my last two are her creations.
