I needed to take a leafblower to the keyboard to remove the thick layer of dust that has built up upon the untouched keys.  Boy oh boy has time flown to nowhere in particular.  It feels as if its been ages since I’ve had a moment to myself, but the past few months have actually progressed at a somewhat normal pace.  One day at a time, hour by hour; nothing drastic.

With the film 2012 out and making hits (which is deserved, it was an excellent movie), I feel I should post my opinion.  However, my opinion is rather vague.  I doubt that worldwide catastrophe will occur, but the idea of it humours me.  I used to have dreams that nuclear war would be the end of 95%+ life on Earth, and I was okay with that.  The reversing of the poles, eruption of Yellowstone, and the shifting of Earth’s plates sounds intriguing as well, though.  To start anew, to brush away the life we know currently and to rebuild from scratch–without technology, written law and government, life would be beautiful in its new sense of mystery.  Knowing that the odds of me living (considering my location in the United States and right on the Eastern Coast) are very very slim in the case of shifting plates, I still believe the Apocalyptic “Great Flood” of the 2nd millenium would be pretty bad-ass.  Natural disasters are allowed to be inhumane and brutal.  So goodbye sex offenders, terrorists, predators, and wrong-doers of Planet Earth.  Hello survivors.  The idea grabs ahold of my mind and refuses to let go…which religions would survive such a unloving catastrophe?  would one unified nation arise, or many as we have now?  would basic survival instincts override morals and previously prized preferences? How would success be measured?

Bring on the wind, water, fire, and earth.  An elemental eruption of chaos is what the world needs to get in order. 

If the end was to come in December of 2012, why fear it?  It would be like fearing the Rapture or God’s promised Judgment Day.  Fear doesn’t change the presence of an event, it simply wastes various amounts of time we have in life.  Therefore, I don’t fear catastrophe, I simply accept the possibility.  Paired with that possibility is the coming of a New Era.  That interests me, but seems completely bogus.  A new understanding of ourselves and our purposes?  Come on people, really? A sudden wave of conscious unity released upon the world’ ehh, I have limited faith in humanity as a whole.  Individuals, sure.  But not all X-billion livers of Earth.

While I’m on the topic: That’s my religion. My faith is in mankind, not a Higher Being.  God to me is an idea, a face for the unknown, or an omniscient energy found in all matter.  I don’t picture a large hearty man of all races, ethnicities, and non-biased appearances as the world views Santa Claus.  I don’t believe waiting for God to act achieves much more than passed time and wishful thinking.  I do believe, however, that having faith in yourself and your peers achieves something tangible.  I have faith that I can do anything or do it to the best of my ability.  I have had the experience of being thrown into some crazy-whack-ass situations, and somewhere within I found the strength and wisdom to adapt, grow, persevere and move onward with life.  Now I accept life’s varied myriad of challenges as experiences that strengthen my wisdom and understanding of myself.  Breaking down in my old Mustang was an experience for me to learn that not all things go so smoothly and I learned the ways of mechanics as well.  I learned the importance of auto preventative maintenance and love for the machine, not to mention our vulnerability to technology.

Death is the part of religion that makes religion so crucial to life.  Where we go.  The “reward,” so to speak.  That’s what people are in it for.  That’s why Jesus has his devoted freaks, and Mohammed his devout followers.  We as living humans are not content with today being a day of life…we must have many days of life, unless we know we will also live after death.

I view death as an end.  A period to life.  A pulled curtain, grande finale, an eternal off-switch.  And I’m perfectly content with that. Because when it happens, thought ceases.  I won’t care if you see me naked or with puffy eyebags, or mishapen hair.  It won’t make a damn of difference how I look or what you think of me. I won’t think to myself after choking on a cashew or slipping down a steep, perilous slope “My oh my, I wish I would have white-water rafted or at least viewed Mt. Rushmore or bungee jumped off the Golden Gate Bridge, gosh-donnit.”  No sir/madam, my mind will be muted for the rest of time.  Death is what I experience before my parents conceived me.  I was dead before I existed, so why should I expect something different after existing?  Black nothingness is expected, rightfully.

If God loved his children, would we not experience the fruit of Heaven before existing? Or some tast of God and his almighty-ness and loving nature?  He has our existence planned and a place prepared in Heaven for us when we die…but what about before we were born… were our souls non-existent as well?  Makes sense to me that we would have been hammocking in Heaven til it was time to slide out of our birth-mothers.  Some taste of God and his promise of an after-life of luxurious happiness, rather than dreary darkness.

So, in a nutshell: Mankind exists and evokes change, so have faith in yourself.  Don’t credit a good deed to an invisible puppet-master, credit it to yourself or the good-deed-doer.  Make waves of change, don’t wait for cancer to be healed.  Spend those ill moments in positive moods, those are what will change a person.  Thoughts of happiness and healing. Andddd, death leads to nothing but nothingness. So live it up today and tomorrow and the line-up of tomorrows you don’t know you have remaining in your glass sand timer.

Comment me, debate me, chat it up people.  We’re not here to glide through life.  We have brains to have thoughts, and mouths to communicate said thoughts. So bring it. I’m ready to engage in worthwhile conversation rather than the basic hum-drum “hey, how ya doings” I hear on a daily basis.  Bring the deep discussion. I beg you.

Now for personal details of my life:

I had my sights set on a particular date for nearly a month, so I’m believing that has helped push time along up to the present moment.  November 20th, 2009 has been the date imprinted in my mind and printed boldly on my internal calendar.  Nerves and anticipation grew with each passing day and finally it came.  My date with Mr. Preston.  Being me, I will hold out on the fancy, wonderful details and allow you this: it was spectacular.  Between a post-noreaster beach and poetry night at a local cafe, the night was one to be remembered.  To be frank, I’ve taken a step out of my usual and asked him out; I’m no longer single. haha. I’m very excited for this.  You’re free to have your own opinions. With that said, this topic is now closed.

In other news, I got a new car.  Woot-woot, the Stang has been retired.  RIP SRS Machine.  It has since been replaced with a 2009 Dodge Avenger.  This is something I was very excited about and still am very hyped about.  It was a great day in the life of me to sign the bill of sale being the solo owner, fully responsible. Yessir, bring on the responsibility.

I also want to make a shout-out to Greer Childs, the genius behind facial-elasticity exercises.  Woman’s a face-saver, woo-eee. Check her out, but keep beverages out of your mouth for the viewing.  They will be expelled directly back out of the mouth, and probably the nose as well. Enjoy.

“Ford, Subaru and Volkswagen sit atop the U.S. insurance industry’s annual list of the safest new vehicles, according to a closely watched assessment used by car companies to lure safety-conscious consumers to showrooms.”

Well, Ford just seems to be on a streak – winning Motor Trend’s Car of the Year for their Fusion yesterday, and now getting recognition for safer cars from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Subaru also did well in the tests – almost every vehicle they have is a Top Pick. Volkswagen did well too.

GM was represented by the new Buick Lacrosse (yes!) and the Chevrolet Malibu. Chrysler had the Sebring/Dodge Avenger, Dodge Journey, and Jeep Patriot with thorax airbags. Honda had the four-door Civic with optional ESC, and their Element.

The Nissan Cube, Kia Soul, and Mercedes C-Class complete the list.

Now, Ford’s Taurus and the Lincoln MKS and Volvo models were on the list – of course they were! The Ford Taurus/Lincoln MKS are built on Volvo’s platforms. (I am not being derogatory here – I liked the platform so much I completely supported my wife getting a 2008 Mercury Sable Premier). But I also know that Volvo has built their reputation on safety, so if Ford uses those platforms they are going to reap those same benefits.

I am very impressed that Subaru did so well – side crash tests, front crashes, rear crashes, even roof strength- these don’t do well in small cars, which is what Subaru is known for.

What was strange about this round of safety tests was the absence of an entire company – Toyota. I want cars to be safe, and I want everyone who buys a new car to be as safe as possible – whether having enough safety technology to be able to avoid a crash in the first place, or having enough to survive a crash you can’t avoid. But, I have to say – I am happy Toyota is no longer getting a free ride. No longer do they get listed, or get awards for just being Toyota. They are actually going to have to work for it – and prove themselves.

Another thing that I am not sure about – that some cars get on the list, provided they have certain options. Is the customer going to actually know that a Honda Civic got the award – or that a Honda Civic four door with optional electronic stability control was the one that got the award? A Jeep Patriot with optional thorax airbags? I think it’s wonderful that more automakers are putting an emphasis on safety, and including more airbags. Less than 5 years ago, it was hard to find a car that had more than the required two airbags – now some cars have nine or ten airbags, and almost all have 6 (front, side front, side head). It’s nice to know that a vehicle that has certain options is the one that got the pick, but shouldn’t those features be standard?

Buick, in their 2005 Lacrosse, only got a mention for safety if the vehicle was the CXS trim level, or a lower level CX or CXL equipped with the side head curtain airbags. Buick changed the Lacrosse in ‘06 to include those airbags on every trim level. (It probably helped that the Impala, which shares its platform with the Lacrosse got 6 standard airbags). I’m not saying everyone should follow an example set by Buick, I am only saying that Buick did the right thing in equipping their vehicles with the needed safety technology. I would like to see more automakers doing this – if your vehicle needs certain options to be considered a Top Safety Pick, equip every model with those options. Cost more? Yes – but vehicles usually go up in price every year anyway.

Again, I am very happy that cars are getting safer – and that the IIHS is testing more ways to prove that the cars are safe.

It was a sunny morning when we set off from home.

How naive we were, how unprepared we were for the night that lay ahead. We would not have gone if we knew…

It was about 2 in the afternoon we pulled up in the hired Avenger outside Mrs McCracken’s gate. She had a wonderful outlook. As I hopped out of the driver’s door and slammed the car door shut behind me I looked across the browning bracken and through the post and wire fence that kept the sheep in the field – typical Scottish sheep, dirty, matted and moaning constantly about their living conditions, eyeing you up with the strange satanic slit eyed irises in their black eyes. There was something of Mordor there, something not quite right, something to be avoided. Beyond the sheep and the field lay Loch Creran, calm and still, the clear blue sky giving it an almost Tropical azureness. Mrs McCracken had chosen her house well – if only we had chosen as well.

By this time Maureen had got out of the car too and was heading for the front door of the croft. She was never one to miss the opportunity for a cup of tea and a chat to get the locals’ gossip. I was shy back then – still am I think – but some things change you for ever. No going back. After we’d had our fill of homebaked scones and tea and acquired the all-important key and the up to date goss on everyone, we bade farewell to Maggie and jumped into the car for the final mile to where we were to stay that night.

The key was huge and solid not like the flimsy plastic cards you get in hotels nowadays. This was a key that was forged, that was made by a craftsman, that was antique in in its own right and that you would not forget to hand in at reception on the way home. It was a comforting key – strong and solid, characterising the safety we should have felt once it had completed its purpose; worn smooth, epitomising its reliability and use over the years – its comfort lay in its smoothness.

I pulled up at the gate. Looking through the bars you could see the flat, white gravel courtyard and the door. The door that the key was looking for. I got out and pushed open the gate. It would be lovely to say that it creaked on its hinge but it didn’t – it was well-oiled and maintained. Painted black, it contrasted sharply with the gravel and the whitewashed walls of the castle, although it was clear that it had been a year or two since the castle had been painted. We drove in and parked the car in front of the door, got out of the car, closed but didn’t lock the doors and put the ancient key into the lock in the wooden door studded with iron. It too turned easily and without effort on my part.

We pushed the door open and went in to the darkness which immediately enshrouded us as the door closed silently and clicked shut.

The Jewish Messiah had finally come.  This was good news.  It spread throughout the Jewish communities of the world.  In the same way the news about Israel’s exodus from Egypt and the Red Sea parting spread to all nations.

The belief of Jesus’ teachings covered Israel and spread to Jews everywhere in the Roman Empire.  Jesus was reinstated as their Messiah, but the price for rejecting Him would have to be paid.  Israel would be destroyed because they doubted.  The Jewish people had their Messiah and He could never die.

Now Jesus would assume the role of the Warrior King, and come to defeat the enemies of Israel.  A Spirit, who could not die in battle, would now fight for God’s people.  Yet, the Jews would still have to suffer.  They would now trade places with the man Jesus.  As they sowed, they would now receive.

First, they would have to die to expose the enemies of God’s chosen people.  Then God would send the Messiah to avenge the death of His beloved people; but this would not comfort those suffering, who did not believe in the teachings of Jesus, or stop the suffering of Israel.  It would only comfort the ones who believed the truth, and guarantee Israel an eternity of life without pain.  For all Jews who have suffered for God would receive another life without pain or suffering for eternity.

This is God’s incredible plan to evict all evil people, who hate Israel, from the human race.  Jews will be resurrected from the dead unto a new life in another body, which is their original body that would never grow old or die.  This was the reason Israel accepted Jesus as their Messiah after His death on the cross. This was the reason the Jews brought the Roman Empire down.

Rome’s first mistake was killing Jesus!  Rome’s last mistake was fatal, which was their triumphant march on the Nation of Israel to destroy it!  The Roman Empire was so powerful no one could stand up to them and survive.  This power had to be neutralized.

Jesus appeared on the scene at the height of Rome’s power.  His teachings were directly responsible for the weakening of Rome’s power.  The followers of Jesus had no way of knowing the result of their being obedient to the teachings of Jesus, which are the commandments of God; which would bring Rome to its knees and cause its collapse.  Hence, God’s Messiah is avenging the murder of His chosen people.

The early Christians, who were Jews following the teachings of Jesus, could never have predicted their behavior would ultimately lead to the destruction of their ruling enemies in Rome!  And collapse it did!

Rome ruled its empire well into the eighth century A.D., but never in the power it once wheeled back in the days of Jesus.  Since Jesus walked upon the face of the earth, Rome had experienced a backsliding that it has never fully recovered from until this day.

“The Fiat-Chrysler partnership has been brewing since well before the economic meltdown and federal loan bonanza of late 2008, but it’s still taking shape as the automakers find ways to work to their mutual benefit. The combined companies’ new CEO Sergio Marchionne is set to reveal the future plans for both Fiat and Chrysler in just a week’s time but we already have much of the details on hand.

According to people briefed on the plans, Alfa Romeo is set to return as a volume player in 2012. Fiat will be here too, although the only model planned is the 500 minicar, which should in early 2011…

Don’t feel too bad Fiat isn’t coming here in full force. Chrysler will introduce several new models that rely on Fiat platforms and technology. The first of these will be a new mid-sized sedan from Chrysler based on Fiat’s C-Evo platform, followed by new hatchback and a compact Jeep. There will also be redesigned versions of the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chrysler 300 arriving as early as next year.

Several models will be dropped from Chrysler’s U.S. lineup as well. These will include a number of Dodge models, such as the Caliber, Nitro, Avenger, and several Jeep models, too, such as the Commander, Compass, and Patriot. Other vehicles getting the axe include Chrysler’s PT Cruiser and Sebring.”

This was a pain in the ass. I cannot stress that enough. I was this close to dropping it (read: erase it from the HD) that I’m amazed to have finished it. I should never do vectors of series I’ve never seen, there’s not enough motivation to go on; as it is, I’ve completed this simply out of duty. It could have also had something to do with the fact that every Avenger review I’ve read is definitely not happy with the show.

I’m not even satisfied with the final result :\ Man, it sounds like there’s nothing worthwhile in this wallpaper. Well, to me; who knows, others may find it decent.

De aordo com a revista AutoWeek, os atuais Chrysler Sebring e Dodge Avenger devem ser mantidos no mercado por pelo menos mais três anos. Lançados em 2007, os relativamente fracassados sedãs permanecerão sem mudanças até 2012, quando um sucessor, enfim, deverá ser apresentado. A decisão foi tomada pelos executivos da Fiat, parceiros da Chrysler. Antes, a antiga dona Cerberus tinha definido que o fim dos modelos aconteceria em 2010. Agora, não apenas o PT Cruiser ficará mais tempo no mercado do que fora anunciado.

A Fiat decidiu prolongar a vida dos modelos para reforçar a presença da marca no segmento, ainda que as vendas estejam longe do ideal. Para a empresa, muito dinheiro teria de ser investido em sucessores – e tirá-los de linha sem substitutos também seria perda de recursos.

Assim, os sucessores dos sedãs serão desenvolvidos aos poucos, sem pressa, para economizar recursos. Porém, mudanças são previstas para os veículos atuais. O Sebring, por exemplo, perderá os vincos do capô no ano que vem. Para 2011, os dois modelos contarão com retoques mais profundos, marcando a última renovação antes da despedida.

The biggest media deal of 2009 has just been announced by the Disney Corporation.  They are acquiring Marvel Entertainment for $4 Billion.  This gives Disney access to over 5,000 characters since 1939 and believe me, they will use them every chance they get.  These include Iron Man, the X-Men, the Incredible Hulk, the Fantastic Four, and even Captain America.  Each character serves to make a box office smash with the right production team, managed by Disney.  Marvel is powerful as well in other fields Disney is not.  The industry of comic books and graphic novels are 40% Marvel’s.  Overall, this deal sounds a little weird, as Marvel has made alotta money on some great movies over the last years.  So now, Iron Man 2 and even Spiderman are now part of Disney.  These movies have seen hundreds of millions and the company has net $3 billion just last year.  I guess they want to get stable and think even more is possible with the help of the Disney group.  Check out some mainstream media articles listed below:

She’s a 2008 Dodge Avenger SE.  I picked her up last night.  Here’s my favorite part about her so far (other than she’s not a mini van)…

It has been so long since my last post. So many things have happened in between. My blog would miss all those happy moments and sad moments. By the way I’ve got a new avenger. I’m taking my bike to office which is 35 kms away from my home. I return home from office at night between 10 P.M and 11 P.M. Its always only me riding on the road.I was feeling lonely for the first few days. Going forward, I started liking it. Ppl say it feels like god on avenger. But i feel my world on my avenger. I let my thoughts wander all along the way. I let the philosopher in me sketch his scripts all the way. I know very well that i was not concentrating on the road. But it has only been me on the road all the while. Last 2 days have been different and difficult. It was raining heavily and the philo in me had failed in his fight for concentration to the cruiser in me. Thanks avy for dropping me safe at home for the last few months.You have done so much for me and i could do only a little in return. I couldn’t see you take all the pain while i ride safe with a helmet and jerkin on. I can’t see you rusted. Now that i’ve decided to take bus to office and i would miss my avy. Now the philo in me will have all the time to write scripts on his life. I din’t throw you away avy. Its for your well being that i’ve decided to stay away. Its not that i care a damn, I care so much that i want you to stay the same as ever
