What with shoots, a viewing, delivery of orders and then I had a table at the Guildford Baby Fair at the Holiday Inn, Guildford which was sponsored by the ABC magazine, Surrey in which I advertise.

It was one of the best fairs I have been to and was thrilled with the response of families there to my work. I usually don’t expect to be commissioned that day and use the fairs as a showcase of my work and for families to meet me and start to build on the initial contact.

Ashley Prytherch came along from www.ashphotos.co.uk who was taking shots of the different businesses and he has very kindly forwarded the piccies of me! Thanks Ashley!

The health and fitness of the UK population is a regular topic on national news and many of us are strongly aware of the need to adopt a healthy lifestyle. From eating the right things including our five pieces of fruit or vegetables a day to getting enough exercise, there are whole host of things to do to help keep us healthy.

Those in the health professions make continuous pleas to us to ‘exercise more’ and ‘cook healthy, nutritious meals’ yet the public replies that there is no time within their already overloaded schedules. Work and family commitments take priority and if there’s any time ‘spare’ then going to gym is often the last thing on people’s minds. Leisure time is a precious commodity and it would seem our desire to relax vs. our knowledge that we need to keep fit are totally contradictory. Or are they?

‘Health spa’ is a term that surely appeals greatly and with the rising popularity of spa amongst men and women it would seem that the industry has come up with a winning combination. Statistics reveal that the spa industry is growing faster than the fitness industry and offers so much opportunity many are diving in with both feet to make the most of this market.

But why is spa so popular? With today’s hectic lifestyles – long hours at the office, busy women who ‘have it all’ and stress being another hot topic – the idea of retreating to a haven of peace and relaxation sounds like total luxury. Add to this our desire to hold back the years and look forever young – and some of the facials out there promise a lot – it’s no doubt we’re booking at and staying at more spa resorts than ever before.

A visit to the spa is no longer just about a quick manicure of pedicure. Those choosing to visit a spa can stay for a day or evening, overnight (or longer) or perhaps visit for a hen party or even corporate day.

Choosing what treatments to have during your spa visit can be a tricky choice. Like reading a menu in an award-winning 5-star restaurant you’ll find the choices staggering as words such as relaxing, revitalising, refreshing and moisturising jump out from all over the pages with promises of soothing away all aches, pains and worries – and wrinkles too.
The other benefit of visiting a spa is that, if you choose the right location, you needn’t leave the resort for your entire stay. Location is an important consideration and many independent hotels have excellent spa facilities while also benefiting from superb positions.

Nestled in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, a new spa has been developed at Barnham Broom Hotel. A beautiful country hotel the addition of The Spa has been well considered and carefully planned culminating in a successful development.

Through the use of soft lighting and natural materials including mahogany and granite, The Spa at Barnham Broom oozes calm from the moment you enter. Professional, friendly therapists are ready to greet you and listen to your needs as you discuss the very tempting treatment menu while their attention to detail is apparent through their choice to use the very luxurious ESPA range of products.

Set amongst 250 acres of countryside, peace and quiet is available in spades while the hotel has excellent facilities including a fitness centre, award-winning restaurant and cosy bar area. For a relaxing spa break Barnham Broom is definitely worth a visit.

I have been thrilled to hear today that I am the Annabel Williams Contemporary Photographic Training

I have been thrilled to hear today that I am the Annabel Williams Contemporary Photographic Training “Photographer of the month” which is a great honour for me as they have many photographers visit them each month.

As previously mentioned, I went on a course to help me with my marketing and sales for my business and it was a great time to contemplate and plan where I need to go next.

I met Catherine Connor and Jane Breaknell 2 years ago and they have been trying to encourage me to go on the course and I am so glad I did. One of the things that I came away with was the encouragement that they gave me and this has given me a huge boost!

The newsletter was sent out today mentioning about me being “Photographer of the month” and this is what Catherine said,

“Annie recently attended Realise your Potential at Annabel Williams CPT where she spent a day with me on marketing and business development, a day with Jane learning a tried and tested sales process which will maximize her revenue and a day shooting with Jo De Banzie.

What drew me to Annie was her grit and determination to succeed. My message in all seminars is to LOVE your clients just as much as you can. Annie does this and so much more – she represents everything that a photographer in business should be. She is certainly one to watch in the future!”

Josephine had her website designed for her recently by the same company who designed mine (www.seomarketingworkshop.com) to incorporate her businesses and the charity Watoto that she is involved with.

Josephine is very lovely and when we were discussing the backdrop for her headshot she had it in her mind that she wanted to have lavender as this is very much part of the vision she has to help the charity Watoto. Please see her website for more details – www.josephinewilliamson.com

I have my usual shots that I like to do during a pregnancy shoot but I am always inspired by new things and I loved the balcony shots in this shoot!

Monica is Italian and is very beautiful and she looked amazing!

The ideal time for a pregnancy shoot is around 36 weeks but any later and it can be very tiring!

Ian and Monica have a chosen an album to remember this special in their lives.

Baby Ashley has now arrived and many congratulation so Ian and Monica!

In 1993 Pearl Jam’s “Jeremy” won best music video and with good reason. Its powerful imagery, heavy message, and straightforward lyrics make quite the statement.
A New Kind of Celebrity

-By Eden Phoenix, Nov. 10, 2009

This “Do” specifically asks you to follow @FeliciaDay on Twitter, but we hope that you’ll become one of her fans.

Who is this person? Why should you care?

She is one of the coolest actors/people to become popular in a very long time. If you have not had the pleasure of discovering Joss Whedon yet, then you would probably know @FeliciaDay as “that red-head” in the Best Buy commercials. If you are a Whedon fan, then you would know her from her work as Penny in the Emmy Winning “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog,” or (more briefly) as a potential in the final season of “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and Mag in the brilliant 13th episode of “Dollhouse,” titled Epitaph One (Click here for Felicia Day’s IMDB Page).

Felicia Day and Neil Patrick Harris in Dr. Horrible's Sing-a-long Blog

She is relevant to The MagaBlog and its readers, because she’s also a self-proclaimed “New Media Geek.” Day’s knowledge of New Media, and her personality is what makes learning from her so interesting and fun. She writes, creates, and stars in “The Guild,” an award-winning web-series about a group of internet gamers. In fact, the style and humor of “The Guild” helped inspire the creation of “Dr. Horrible’s Sing-a-long Blog.”

If you remain unmoved, Felicia Day’s Blog reveals that several others are truly impressed by Day and her work. Not only techno-centric media promote and applaud Day, but much more mainstream ones as well. A guest appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, news articles in The Wall Street Journal and Forbes, and interviews with PBS and MSNBC make Day an increasingly powerful powerful figure in the entertainment world.

Click this image to go to The Guild's homepage!

Her witty humor and vast knowledge of topics that celebrities don’t usually discuss (New Media, technology, Sci-Fi novels, etc.) set her apart from most of her fellow actors, in the best way possible!

Also, in researching this article, an important aspect of Day has become tremendously apparent: she’s an honest, good person. Her effort to form a relationship with her followers that goes beyond self-promotion (but thankfully doesn’t cross the line into creepiness) and the unique application of ethics to her use of the internet justify this claim.

For example, Felicia Day’s Website begins with a short paragraph concluding with “I’d love to hear from you in the comments.” Skimming her blog posts and tweets reveals that these are not empty words. In one post she wrote:

I guess having over 300,000 followers on Twitter can be a good and bad thing. The bad is I can’t possibly follow or know each and every person who follows me, but the good is that when I get so many insanely smart and wonderful responses to things I tweet. I would love to RT (ReTweet) them all and share them on my Twitter feed, but sometimes I get so many awesome responses I can’t give credit where credit is due. So I decided, based on a Twitter I did this morning, to share some of my favorites…

She then went on to post her favorite responses to a tweet about slugs, organized by category! One rarely sees that kind of interaction between a celebrity and her fans unless the celebrity is promoting a new movie, TV show or perfume.

She clearly cares about humanity at large and takes the time to make that known. Three particularly impressive posts are worthy of note:

1) Finding People to Follow on Twitter.

The introduction of this article speaks for itself…

I have had a big influx of followers on Twitter the last several weeks, in some part due to being on the “Recommended” list for new users. I’m excited to meet so many new people, but my heart broke yesterday when I asked how people liked it, and I got many responses to the effect that they felt like they were “talking into a vacuum.” Well, I aspire to be a good hostess, so I’ve compiled a list of how to build your Twitter community.

2) Highland Hunk Fantasy

In this article she explains how, in a drunken tweet, she wrote about a disproportionately large amount of kilted men appeared in the romance section of a bookstore. Surprised by and in apology to @replies defending the Scottish romance-novel archetype, she vowed to read this genre before forming judgments. Few people probably believed her promise and fewer still remembered it by the next day. But Day had made a promise. She then read not one, but five romance-novels in this genre of which she did not care for a single one. This illustrates an admirable level of follow through and a respect for her fans that rarely, if ever, finds a home in successful actors and industry professionals.

3) Sad Internet Story

Here, she writes compassionately about mean comments on a YouTube video involving a woman and a cat. She reminds readers of her blog of the harm of hyper-critical comments and expresses her feelings that the internet should be a community. This post in particular displays a noteworthy moral compass. You should probably read this post regardless of whether or not you plan to follow Day, because her message is very valuable.

Finally, from marching with the writers during the most recent Writer’s Strike to promoting charitable organizations and causes, Day proves to be a woman of substance.

Two-time Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington will star in the 2010 Broadway revival of late playwright August Wilson’s Fences, according to the New York Times.

Washington, who also appeared in the 2005 revival of Julius Caesar and the 1988 comedy Checkmates, will portray former baseball player Troy Maxson, a role which earned veteran actor James Earl Jones his second Tony Award.

The New York Times reports that Kenny Leon is in negotiations to direct. The project, which is produced by Carol Shorenstein Hays and Scott Rudin, had previously announced Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks as director.

Fences will begin rehearsals this February with an April 2010 opening, Variety is reporting. Denzel has signed on for a 14-week run through mid-July.

Leon, who is the artistic director of Atlanta’s True Colors Theatre, has staged the Broadway productions of A Raisin in the Sun, as well as August Wilson’sRadio Golf and Gem of the Ocean, the latter of which was produced by Hays

Washington garnered Academy Awards for his performances in “Training Day” and “Glory.” He also earned Academy Award nominations for his work in “The Hurricane,” “Malcolm X” and “Freedom.”

Fences, Wilson’s 1950-60’s Pittsburgh-set drama, follows the struggle of a former Negro League baseball player who now finds himself working as a garbage collector.

The original staging of Fences earned a Tony Award for Best Play as well as a Best Leading Actor award for James Earl Jones, Best Featured Actress for Mary Alice, Best Direction for Lloyd Richards and the 1987 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The late Wilson penned a ten-play cycle that documents a different decade in the history of African-American culture during the twentieth century, beginning with Gem of the Ocean (set in the 1900s) through Broadway’s recent Radio Golf (set in the 1990s). The majority of Wilson’s plays are set in the Pittsburgh Hills District where he was born and raised.

In addition to earning the Tony Award for Fences, Wilson was also honored with a Tony for The Piano Lesson. All of Wilson’s plays were Tony-nominated for Best Play, with the exception of Jitney, which played Off-Broadway and won an Olivier for its London production. Wilson is the first African-American playwright to have a Broadway theatre in his name. Mr. Wilson died of liver cancer in October 2005, shortly after finishing rewrites on what would be his last play, Radio Golf, the final chapter in his ten-play legacy

Today I helped make award winning real ale at the ‘Old Spot Brewery’ in Cullingworth near Keighley.
They have recently Won the Leicester Beer Festival with a Gold for Spot O’ Bother which was also a 1st in the Porter/Stout category.
Please check their beers out when you see them

The brew is a pretty hoppy and mainly pale malt with some wheat, name yet to be decided.
Chris has a relaxed attitude to brewing and there’s nothing complex in his brewing process, knowing his process and customers tastes gives him plenty of room to experiment within his brewing experience in creating new ales.

Here’s a Few snaps from today:

I am slightly behind in my blogging which is outrageous!

The above happened a month ago at the London College of Communication, University of Arts London and I had 2 pieces of work exhibited with one of the pieces being used as one of the top 6 images chosen to headline the Full of Life campaign to celebrate “Older People’s Day” which was the 1st October which celebrates the role of older people in our lives.

The images were featured in the Independant online, The Guardian online and Daily Express Online which was amazing media coverage for me as a photographer.

The exhibition was hosted in conjunction with the LCC and supported by Age Concern and the Prince’s Trust.

I called this piece “Symphony” and features Peggy who used to be a professional dancer so I within the image I wanted to encorporate dance by showing movement. The little girls in the background are Millie and Charlotte.

The next image is of Dr John Elsom who is a client of mine and was commissioned earlier on this year to do a headshot shoot for him. This also was in the exhibition.

Here are some images from the event taken by photographer Kate Kuzminova (copyright 2009 – All rights reserved) who graduated from the LCC in June 2009. Thanks Kate for allowing me to use these images!

Sanity Catch revolves dimensionally around free-will – in its tangibly raw, real, hectically tragic yet simultaneously liberating essence. A positive message is often more powerful when it touches base with the damningly dirty, primal nature of man, when it trancends a dreamscape to engage the observer with situations that hold for them a moral rigidity. It is where the question of free-will – often considered a pseudoscience – truly arrises, coupled with a dash of spirit.

The objective of the film is not to provoke thought. The objective is to still the mind and touch the soul. Where nothing needs be spoken. Where a deep seed of insight within the subconscious of the observer is sprinkled with perspective.
