from Reuters: Britain has built the world’s biggest DNA database without proper political deba

from Reuters:

Britain has built the world’s biggest DNA database without proper political debate and police routinely arrest people just to get their DNA profiles onto the system, the genetics watchdog said in a report on Tuesday.

The Human Genetics Commission, which advises the government on the social, legal and ethical aspects of genetics, called for a review of the database and said new laws must be passed to govern its use.

In a damning report, the commission said “function creep” had transformed the system from a DNA store for offenders into a database of suspects.

More than three-quarters of young black men aged between 18 and 35 are on the system, the report said.

Set up in 1995, the database contains the DNA profiles of five million citizens, eight percent of the population, making it the world’s biggest in proportion to population size.

“Parliament has never formally debated the establishment of the National DNA Database and safeguards around it,” commission chairman Professor Jonathan Montgomery said in a statement.

“It has developed through amendments to laws designed to regulate the taking of fingerprints and physical evidence before DNA profiling was developed.

“It is not clear how far holding DNA profiles on a central database improves police investigations.”

The report quoted an unidentified retired senior police officer as saying that “it is now the norm to arrest offenders for everything” in order to obtain a DNA sample.

‘VITAL TOOL’

A Home Office spokesman said the database was a “vital crime-fighting tool” that had linked more than 410,000 crime scenes with a DNA match and a possible lead to an offender between 1998 and March 2009.

“Research shows no clear link between the level of offence for which an individual is arrested and the seriousness of any subsequent offence with which they may be associated,” the spokesman said. No one from the Association of Chief Police Officers could immediately be reached for comment.

Opposition politicians and human rights groups said the report provided further evidence that Britain is becoming a “surveillance society,” where people’s personal details are stored and their movements constantly monitored.

Conservative Home Office spokesman James Brokenshire said Gordon Brown’s government had allowed the DNA database to grow “for the sake of it, regardless of guilt or innocence.”

“Under Labor’s surveillance state, everyone is treated as a potential suspect,” he said.

The report recommended that parliament pass new laws that clearly outline the powers of the police and the DNA database.

An independent panel should be set up to review the evidence on who has given DNA samples and why. The type of offences which require suspects to give a sample must also be reviewed.

Police in England and Wales can take and store the DNA of anyone arrested for a recordable offence, a category that includes all but minor crimes.

Steeleye Span are a five piece this for this album. “They Called Her Babylon” is their first new material from the band with Maddy Prior since 1996. Maddy is joined by Rick Kemp and Peter Knight and newcomers Ken Nicol of Albion Band fame on guitar and Liam Genockey on drums.

Steeleye Span have always drawn inspiration from the music and stories of the past. Fans will recognise their trademarks – the re-interpretation of traditional tales, the choral harmonies, the blend of powerful rock and folk.

Click on image to buy CD

The title track “They Called Her Babylon”, written and sung by Nicol it is based on an event during the English Civil War. Between 28 February and 26 May 1644 parliamentary forces laid siege to Latham House. Latham House was one of the few Royalist strongholds in Lancaster defended by the Countess of Derby, Lady Charlotte while her husband was absent on the Isle of Man.

The lyrics are written from a Royalist viewpoint. The Parliamentary forces come are painted in dark colours. The actual history is a little more complicated. Sir Thomas Fairfax who originally commanded the siege was granted the Isle of Man, forfeited by Lord Derby, at the end of the war. In a gallant gesture, passed on the income he gained from the Island to the Countess. It’s certainly true that the Countess resisted the siege until Prince Rupert relieved her. The lyrics say “Yet brave and as intrepid as any man was she”. History seems to indicate the Truth of this at least.

As the sleeve notes to the album explain the nickname Babylon was not intended as a compliment. It was taken from a sermon from a Puritan minister at Wigan against Lady Derby upon a text from Jerimiah:

“Put yourselves in array against Babylon round about; all ye who bend the bow shoot at her; spare her no arrows; for she has sinned against the Lord”(Chap. 50 v.14).

The powerful chorus on the song takes up this theme:

“So put yourself in line against Babylon
All ye that bend the bow against the crown
Train the gunners sights against Babylon
Till the eagle tower does fall
And the walls they are thrown down”

Of course it’s not necessary to know the historical context to enjoy the music. That stands in its own right. Nonetheless it adds another layer if you do. This extra dimension to folk music is one of the things that makes it attractive to me at least.

In addition to the title track I also really liked “Samain,”. This rocky track is written and sung by Kemp and takes us back to pre-Christian times, to the holiday now known as Halloween. I’m very interested in Celtic paganism. I trek up Calton Hill on another Festival (Beltane) and I love the way they celebrated each of our Seasons. Samain celebrates Winter. Its purpose is well encapsulated in the final verse of the song:

“This great feast of Samain
Our long year will end
With smoke from the fields all good souls ascend
Carry our message – with them we sing
For blessing and favour new growth in the spring.”

Like Babylon the chorus is very strong, with lovely harmonies, and the riff work at the beginning is excellent.

There are some fine adaptations of traditional songs like “Heir of Linne” and >”Bride’s Farewell. “Mantle of Green” is a slow ‘broken token’ ballad related to songs like “Claudy Banks”, taking a traditional theme where the girl is unable to recognize her true love when he returns after some years. This time the man has taken part in the battle of Waterloo. Prior’s singing is accompanied by an acoustic guitar and some fine fiddling from Knight.

“Bede’s Death Song” is supposed to have been written at the deathbed of Bede. Accompanied by a sparse piano, the lyrics state that no man is wise enough to know what judgement will be made on his soul – not exactly a cheery drinking song! This is followed by “Diversus and Lazarus,” another tune by Rick Kemp. Those who know their bible will know that it is the story of two “brothers”-one rich, one poor. The Parable contrasts their condition here and in the World to come. The rich man was finely clothed and spent each day drinking and feasting. The beggar is cast helpless at the rich man’s gate, and lay there all covered with sores; he yearns for the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table, but receives none, and is left to the dogs. In heaven, however, their positions are reversed Lazarus is at the banquet in a place of honour (cf. John, xiii, 23). The rich man is now the outcast. He yearns for a drop of water. Lazarus is not allowed to leave the heavenly banquet and tend to the outcast. It’s good to see a parable put into song. The parables express complex themes in a simple yet strong way. The music is also great.

They Called Her Babylon is a great addition to the work of Steeleye Span.

Antonio called me yesterday at 6:08 pm while I was on my way home. I recognized his name on my cell phone screen.

“Hi Antonio!”

“Hey.”

“How are you doing man?” The tone of his voice was different. He was comfortable.

We exchanged more greetings as my son and my cousin listened in on the conversation.

“Allison gone till Sunday,” he said, sounding as if he was really missing her.

“Really? But Tamian comes back on Friday, right?” I had to give him hope that his angels were not far away.

“Yes,” he replied, with a soft and relaxed tone.

I knew he was feeling more comfortable. I could tell by the sound of his voice.

“Are you going away too?”

My heart skipped a beat as I heard his voice asked the big question that all my men had been asking for months now and I knew that I was going to be honest with this young hopeful boy.

“No Antonio, I am not going anywhere right now. I will be here for a while.”

I then decided to ask him about his parents. “How do you feel now that your parents are back…?”

“Mi feel good.”

“Did you get into anymore problems? I hope that there is no more war.”

“No man.”

I told Antonio that I called St. Joseph’s on Wednesday to talk to Mr. Calmright but was told that he was out of office and that I could call again on Thursday. Antonio confirmed that Mr. Calmright was indeed away on Wednesday but would be back on Thursday.

Mediator

My cousin who is here visiting from the US called me a “mediator” this Ben Johnson morning. I smiled and told him that I was never trained as one but somehow God was using me to mediate in the lives of people in crisis.

“Yes man you are a mediator and a diplomat too.” He insisted.

I did not challenge his statement. If he felt that I was a mediator and a diplomat, then what could I say?

Then we started to talk about the grandparents and their way of life. I laughed out loudly, clapped my hands and jumped three times in the kitchen as I explained My Truth about Rastafari and the Church with Miss Liz paying close attention.

My husband looked at me quizzically. He had never before heard me talk like that. He asked:”What is Babylon?”

And I explained.

There was silence.

Mrs. Prospect

I called Mrs. Prospect as promised to tell her about the interview. I knew she was eager to learn about the job prospect. I gave her all the information that I had about the organization with which I took the interview.

“Oh!” She said.

It seems as if, at least for a moment, that some of my readers thought I was being self-serving.

I smiled.

They really do not know me. They do not know Mar Campbell at all.

Seems as if they were saying that I was going after Mary Clarke’s job…apparently she is about to retire.

Good Lord!

I am here for a specific purpose

Let me assure you all that I am not going after anyone’s job. I am here for a specific purpose; to sow (thanks Bethany), yes, sow “Seeds of Insight” using the positive energies of men across Jamaica and the world. I am also here to help women to smell the sweet scents just before dawn through my “Senses at Dawn.”

And I want to thank you all for taking this journey with me. I know you are reading because I can “see” you through my computer screen and I can feel your spirits. I can even tell when people translate my blog posts into a language that they understand.

I am here! I am living in a new world and I love it!

Don’t worry! I am not possessed by evil spirits. Rather, I am merely following God’s Design for my life and moving according to the will of the Universe.

HALLELUJAH!

BLESS!

“The alarming conclusion is that more than 40 percent of PVS patients are incorrectly diagnosed as hopeless.”

Proving once again man’s arrogance and God’s Wisdom.

from der spiegel:

For over 20 years, doctors thought Rom Houben was brain dead. But then, neurologist Steven Laureys discovered that the Belgian was very much awake. Experts say that up to 40 percent of those thought to be in a persistent vegetative state are, in fact, quite conscious.

For half of his life Rom Houben, 46, had to listen to people say that he was as good as dead. At first, doctors would occasionally bend over him and wave their hands in front of his eyes, but because his gaze remained unresponsive, they eventually gave up. Caregivers would plead for some indication that he knew they were there — a wink or a squeeze of the hand. But they too gave up after a while. Diagnosis: addressing him was pointless. There was no one home.

A former martial artist and engineering student, conversant in four languages, Houben was now wheelchair-bound, his body crooked and helpless. After his car accident, he became a creature that could just barely breathe, swallow and digest food, but was otherwise believed to be an empty shell of a human.

But the whole time, Houben was conscious — and no one knew. . . .

It is this common belief in One God who created everything that has bound the varying races together

It is this common belief in One God who created everything that has bound the varying races together into a perfectly woven nation called Israel. It was the only nation on earth where strangers (foreigners) could become full fledged family members without ever being ostracized or reminded that they weren’t really blood brothers. For no one was a blood brother! That was the point! Their blood tie was their common ancestry in Adam and Eve, and not the nation of their fathers.

Only one other nation on earth has taken the identical view toward his fellow man. No matter what nation a person is born into, the United States of America adopted them, and they became full fledged citizens with all the rights of a home born son!

It is interesting to note the United States was founded during the days of the Spanish Inquisition of Rome. The witch-hunts were conducted by the same people who protested a century before against the lies being taught by the Roman Church in Europe. America began with the very same principles as Israel.

While other nations will let you come and join them, you will always be a foreigner amongst their ranks; and when the economy begins to slip, they will always blame you for it. Although the United States was founded upon the same God of Israel, and the same principles of Israel, and the same Bible as Israel, it is beginning to show the earmarks similar to other heathen nations.

When this type of thinking emerges, let the Jews beware! Most Jews who read this will be thinking, Not in America; I’m American! Well the German Jews of the 1930’s had the same flaw in their reasoning. It was their land. They were German citizens. Their families had lived in Germany for centuries. They had just as much right to be there as anyone else. I’ve heard every type of argument; but that didn’t stop Hitler’s ovens from consuming them.

Remember Abraham? He had the sense to listen to God. He believed what God told him. He had the brains to get out of Babylon when the message came, before it was too late. Even Jesus warned the Jews to get out of town when you see hatred on the rise (see Matthew Chapter 24).

Today’s Israel is seeded with Jews who couldn’t believe what I am telling you, until the citizens in their own countries turned against them. This is similar to the days of Emperor Nero when he burned Rome to blame the Jews.

The Jews couldn’t understand it. Their families had lived in those nations for centuries. Yet, the Jews are always considered foreigners when trouble begins. Scapegoats, because their belief in God differs from the other citizens of the land.

It is this difference that forged the new branch of the human tree known as the Jews; and it is this difference that continually causes the other branches of the human race, amongst whom Jews live, to vomit them out!

The first signal is poverty on the rise and a collapsing economy. The last sign is the winds of war blowing on the horizon; when people begin to discuss the possibility of war. This process is similar to the first heart transplants. The operations were successful. Everything functioned perfectly; but the body rejected the foreign part, and the patient died!

To be continued…

from the Guardian: The government is being forced by the European commission to rip up controversial

from the Guardian:

The government is being forced by the European commission to rip up controversial exemptions that allow church bodies to refuse to employ homosexual staff.

It has emerged that the commission wrote to the government last week raising concerns that the UK had incorrectly implemented an EU directive prohibiting discrimination on the grounds of a person’s sexual orientation.

The ruling follows a complaint from the National Secular Society, which argued that the opt-outs went further than was permitted under the directive and had created “illegal discrimination against homosexuals”.

The commission agreed. A “reasoned opinion” by its lawyers informs the government that its “exceptions to the principle of non-discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation for religious employers are broader than that permitted by the directive”.

The highly unusual move means that the government now has no choice but to redraft anti-discrimination laws, which is likely to prompt a furore among church groups.

In anticipation of a possible backlash from the commission, the government has already inserted new clauses into its equality bill. But even if the bill is jettisoned, future governments will be bound by the commission’s ruling.

Under the new proposals being drafted by the government, religious organisations will be able to refuse to employ homosexuals only if their job involves actively promoting or practising a religion. A blanket refusal to employ any homosexuals would no longer be possible.

“This ruling is a significant victory for gay equality and a serious setback for religious employers who have been granted exemptions from anti-discrimination law,” said human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell. “It is a big embarrassment for the British government, which has consistently sought to appease religious homophobes by granting them opt-outs from key equality laws. The European commission has ruled these opt-outs are excessive.”

The employment directive outlawing discrimination in the workplace was finalised by the European commission in 2000 and became law in the UK in early 2003, following a public consultation exercise. At the time there were accusations that the government had “caved in” to religious groups that mounted a fierce lobbying campaign to be exempted from the new laws.

Under the terms of the exemption, religious groups were allowed to refuse a position to a homosexual employee “so as to avoid conflicting with the strongly held religious convictions of a significant number of the religion’s followers”.

“In other words, if a significant number of followers of an organised religion didn’t like it, there was no protection for a gay employee,” said Keith Porteous-Wood, executive director of the National Secular Society. “Now the government must demonstrate its commitment to equality, rather than continuing to jump to the church’s tune.”

The EU’s equal opportunities commissioner, Vladimir Špidla, said: “We call on the UK government to make the necessary changes to its anti-discrimination legislation as soon as possible so as to fully comply with the EU rules.”

But religious groups expressed alarm at the move. The Christian charity, Care, said: “If evangelical churches cannot be sure that they can employ practising evangelicals with respect to sexual ethics, how will they be able to continue?”

from The Interim: It is time to say “enough is enough” with respect to “the worst

from The Interim:

It is time to say “enough is enough” with respect to “the worst type of cannibalism you can imagine” – the use of aborted fetal cell lines in vaccines.

That was the message brought by one of the world’s leading activists on the issue, who appeared at the annual meeting of the Dunnville Right to Life organization in Dunnville, Ont. on Sept. 18. Speaking on the topic of, “Vaccines From Abortion: The Hidden Truth,” Debra Vinnedge, executive director of the Children of God for Life organization, said humanity has become complacent with regard to these crimes over the past 30 years.

“The pharmaceutical industry has imported, exported, exploited and profited using hundreds of innocent aborted babies. And they continue to do so in the present … The pharmaceutical industry believes you accept it and don’t care, so why bother doing anything about it or changing? They don’t admit the fact that nobody really knows about this.”

From the pro-life point of view, the situation may look grim, but giving up is not an option, even though she considered doing so herself at times.

Despite the bleak picture, Vinnedge offered a catalogue of heartening successes that have been achieved since the issue of aborted fetal cell use in vaccines was taken up by Children of God for Life and others in the 1990s.

A Campaign for Ethical Vaccines, for example, has garnered some 630,000 signatures and has shaken up the Merck pharmaceutical company to the point that it has had to address the issue at its shareholder meetings. Children of God for Life has worked closely with Human Life International in this effort.

Hundreds of thousands of brochures advising people of which vaccines use aborted fetal cell lines have been distributed throughout the world and close monitoring continues as new vaccines come onto the market.

A pro-life physicians database has been established, so that patients working with certain physicians can be assured that products they are administering carry no aborted fetal cells. However, Vinnedge pointed out that the database needs a vast expansion in Canada.

A victory was achieved, following a concerted letter-writing campaign, in ensuring that the U.S. smallpox vaccine would be moral in nature and not use aborted fetal cells.

Merck has agreed to begin reoffering a moral measles and mumps vaccine beginning in 2011.

Canada saw a victory when Canadian Physicians for Life and Children of God for Life worked together to see a moral polio vaccine begin to be offered in this country.

Companies such as AVM Biotechnology and the Sound Choice Pharmaceutical Institute are poised to offer exclusively moral products, including a chicken pox vaccine for the world.

And efforts continue on a number of other fronts, including the seeking of protection for religious rights, a Fair Labelling and Informed Consent Act for those products that use aborted fetal cells, labelling for pro-life certified products and investigation into the possible link between the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines and the striking rise in incidents of autism.

Vinnedge said the rise in autism rates exactly parallels the increase in the use of aborted fetal cells in vaccines. Although links between vaccines and autism have focused more on ingredients such as thimesoral/mercury and formaldehyde, she offered the anecdotal account of one doctor who has used no aborted fetal cells in vaccines he has administered and consequently has found no incidents of autism in any of his young patients.

The challenge is that the number of aborted fetal products continues to increase. More vaccines are in development than ever. There are more abortions for such purposes and more trafficking in fetal parts.

It all started with the earliest “vaccine martyrs,” those preborn babies carrying names such as WI-38, WI-26, MRC-5, IMR-90, IMR-91, ATK-293 and PERC-6, who were sacrificed on the altar of vaccine development in times when abortion was even illegal. Vinnedge noted more than 80 abortions were committed to produce the rubella vaccine alone.

“Such an abortion has to be prearranged. There must be someone there immediately to take the baby and preserve the cells, tissues and organs,” she said.

The evil sometimes carries its own backlash. The ATK-293 cell line, for example, has been found to produce cancer, while PERC-6, derived from the retinal tissue of an 18-week gestation baby, has produced cancer in mice given the vaccine produced from it.

Children of God for Life counsels concerned citizens to ask their doctors to supply ethical vaccines, support fair labelling and informed choice legislation on medical products and let pharmaceutical companies know how they feel. More information is available at Children of God for Life’s website: www.cogforlife.org.

“Sometimes it seems there’s nothing any of us can do to make a difference,” said Vinnedge. “But you can never have that final victory, that crown, without the cross.”

from Canada Free Press: A 15-year-old Egyptian girl, Dina el-Gohary, has written an emotional appeal

from Canada Free Press:

A 15-year-old Egyptian girl, Dina el-Gohary, has written an emotional appeal to President Obama asking him to use his influence to save her father, Maher el-Gohary, who is being persecuted for his beliefs. “Mr. President Obama, we are a minority in Egypt,” Dina writes, according to a report from the Assyrian International News Agency. “We are treated very badly. … We are imprisoned in our own home because Muslim clerics called for the murder of my father, and now the Government has set for us a new prison, we are imprisoned in our own country.”

Dina and her father are Christian converts in a part of the world where conversion can mean death.

The Muslim-majority countries of the Middle East are among the world’s greatest offenders against freedom of conscience. Religious liberty does not exist or is severely curtailed based on Shariah supremacy. Egypt is a signatory to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which commits signatories to respect a variety of liberties, including religious freedom, but a court considering whether Mr. el-Gohary could legally change his religious affiliation ruled that Egypt was only bound to honor those provisions that did not contradict Islamic law, and “in the event of a contradiction, Shariah takes precedence.”

An interesting if not disturbing parallel to what we see happening in the western nations today is t

An interesting if not disturbing parallel to what we see happening in the western nations today is the dying days of the Western Roman Empire. I highly recommend purchasing the abridged version of Edward Gibbon’s “The Decline & Fall of the Roman Empire”.

Rome was an apostate Christian nation when it fell, and its fall was gradual, As Rome expanded as an empire it took in many different ethnic groups, and all these ethnic groups adopted & integrated themselves into Roman Society, except for the “barbarian” Germanic tribes from the north: The Franks, Goths, Visigoths, & the Lombard’s.

As the Western Roman empire weakened, instead of trying to do direct battle with these tribes, it instead invited them in and settled them on lands within the empire. Hoping that this would integrate them into Roman Society and into the Roman Legions. However the Germanic tribes never did integrate, they kept with them their own traditions and as their numbers grew they took a leading role in the manning of the Roman Legions which were supposed to defend the Roman Empire.

And as the history of the Roman Empire reveals. Those who led the Roman Legions were the king makers. And as the composition of the legions became mainly Germanic “barbarians” they became the power behind the throne. Yes those with Roman sounding names continued to be named emperor but they were nothing more than pawns in the hands of the controlling Germanic “Barbarian” “Roman” legions.

The last of the “Roman” emperors held their throne only as long as their “Germanic” patron remained head of the strongest Roman Legion. The Germanic tribes were fractious and hence could not keep the Legions a united force, the head of each legion wanted to be a King in his own right and drew “Barbarians to his legion by offering more “plunder” or rewards.

The last “Roman” emperor was a teenager named Romulus Augustulus, his Germanic patron Odoacar decided to finally do away with the position of “Roman Emperor” of the West as it was costly to maintain a puppet emperor, and Odoacar wanted to rule Italy in his own name with his own legions. Odoacar forced Augustulus to abdicate and the Roman Empire in the west ceased to exist.

A lesson for the west perhaps? On the wisdom of inviting in groups that refuse to integrate themselves into western society. However I have no doubts that western leaders are aware of the history of the decline & fall of the Roman Empire and they most likely see the parallels with today’s western societies struggles with Islam and they do not care and want to just get elected for their own selfish ambitions or they actually believe they can avoid the disintegration of their own societies or lastly they are in fact believers in evolutionary theory and the taking over of western societies by Islam is a natural “evolution” of human existence.

from Jihad Watch:

The track record of the two appointees, taken together with the administration’s own ability to distinguish “moderates” from “extremists” inspires anything but confidence. After all, the Fort Hood jihadist was himself a member of a panel advising the incoming Obama administration.

At the heart of this issue are the politically correct articles of faith that few dare blaspheme, which insist that there is nothing problematic about Islam’s core texts and teachings regarding warfare and the rights of women and unbelievers, and that there exists a well-defined “moderate” Islam that the West can work with. The problem is, no one ever stops to define “moderate,” for fear that articulating actual standards may cause offense.

“Devout Muslims In Key Homeland Security Posts,” by Judicialwatch via Right Side News, November 22:

Days after a devout Muslim terrorized a U.S. Army base in Texas several news reports remind that two key Homeland Security posts are occupied by equally devout Muslims, one of them a former Los Angeles deputy mayor who eliminated a crucial program that tracked terrorist activities in the city.

Earlier this year President Obama appointed Arif Alikhan to be the nation’s Assistant Secretary for Policy Development at the Department of Homeland Security and Kareem Shora to the agency’s influential advisory council, which provides recommendations and advice directly to the Secretary of Homeland Security.

Alikhan, who leads a Homeland Security team responsible for developing policy issues to secure the country against terrorism, has referred to the renowned terrorist organization Hezbollah as a “liberation movement” and was responsible for killing a Los Angeles Police project that monitored terrorist activities in the city’s notoriously radical mosques. The defunct Muslim terror tracking plan was designed to identify hotbeds of extremism in an area where several locals offered the September 11 hijackers support.

Shora was the head of a well-known Arab organization whose officials refer to anti-U.S. jihadists as heroes. As executive director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), Shora had close ties to radical Ivy League professor Rashid Khalidi, a Palestinian terror supporter who has reportedly worked on behalf of the extremist Palestine Liberation Organization….

HAVE YOU HEARD ABOUT THIS SHOCKING STORY IN THE U.S. MEDIA?…..NO!

The following article is almost unbelievable and potentially deadly for our nation. And while it poses a very serious and detrimental danger to the United States, I have not heard anything about it from the mainstream media.

The information was obtained from Israel National News and is located at http://www.israelnationalnews.com/News/News.aspx/134466, which thankfully to the Lord, DOES NOT worship Barack Obama nor props him up on some sort of throne.

With that said, take a look at what they have discovered about the guy sitting in the White House.

Obama ‘Reaches Out’ by Naming ‘Devout’ Muslims to Security Posts

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

(IsraelNN.com) U.S. President Barack Obama continues to “reach out to Muslims” by appointing them to key security posts amid charges he wrongly ignored internal Muslim terror. One recent appointee was harshly criticized for appearing on a British-based television station whose host is a member of a radical Muslim group.

His “reaching out Muslims” speech in Cairo last June has been followed by action, the latest being this past week’s swearing-in of a Muslim rights advocate to the Homeland Security Advisory Council, shortly after the Fort Hood massacre. HSAC members are involved in expertise on national security.

The new member is Syrian-born Kareem Shora, who was the national executive director of the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination (ADC), which previously has called on the United States to stop providing Israel with weapons because of alleged “atrocities” against Arabs. Her background for her new security post is having been a legal counsel and advocate for Muslim civil rights.

She also has been a frequent guest on the pro-Hamas al-Jazeera satellite network.

Shora, who has been described as a “devout Muslim, joins another devout member of the faith, Arif Alikhan, who was appointed as Assistant Secretary for Policy Development in the Department of Homeland Security. His qualifications for the job were listed as having been in charge of public safety in Los Angeles during his term of deputy mayor. One of his actions was to remove the plan that tracked Muslims in the city who were suspected of terrorist activities.

Americans have been jolted by several lethal attacks and confrontations with Muslims over the past year, including a plot to attack synagogues and down U.S. military aircraft, the manufacture of bombs, an alleged attempt to explode a Texas skyscraper, a plot to blow up malls in Boston, and last month’s Fort Hood massacre by a Muslim psychiatrist who was an officer in the army.

A desire to avoid the appearance of labeling all Muslims as terrorists lunged out from the shadows last month after President Obama faced criticism for not taking seriously the threat of Muslim terrorism within American society as well as in the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Several months ago, President Obama appointed Dalia Mogahed, a “devout Muslim,” to his Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. She quickly came under fire for appearing in a telephone interview on a London-based Muslim television station, whose host is a member of an extreme Islamic group.

She said was unaware of the affiliations of her host, whose program included questions and comments favoring the implementation of Islamic Law (“sharia”).

Mogahed explained that she did not hang up the phone in the middle of the interview because “I assumed that very few people would watch this show but that doing something more dramatic would bring more attention.”

In the current issue of Newsweek, columnist Jacob Weisberg, citing former Secretary of State Colin Powell, wrote that “Obama’s [Muslim] heritage feeds a broader suspicion that he is too casual about the threat from America’s Islamist enemies.”

The journalist added, “With the massacre in Texas, Obama now confronts something that George W. Bush did not face in the years after September 11—not just a major act of domestic terrorism, but one struck from inside our security apparatus…. America does not face a threat from the perversion of faith in general. We face a threat from the perversion of one faith in particular.”

End

I want to encourage all of you to pray and to draw ever so close to the Son of the Living God, the LORD JESUS CHRIST……THE ONLY SAVIOR.

By all appearances, judgment seems to be heading for the United States of America. As a watchman giving warning, I am urging everyone who is reading this to please follow the Lord’s Word from Isaiah chapter 55 verses 6-7 which is as follows:

Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

May we all take heed to this warning while we still have the chance, because a time is coming when we will not.

from MercatorNet:

Lock up your baby prams and strollers, or at least don’t take them out in the daylight hours. Children are, according to one United Nations agency, the new enemy of climate change.

The latest report from the United Nations Population Fund was released on Wednesday at news conferences in Ottawa and other key venues where policy makers could be made aware of the news: more babies will undermine attempts to stop climate change.

Strangely, much of the news conference, like the material put out by the Population Fund, was taken up with detailing the ways the world’s leading population control agency works to combat maternal deaths and serious complications from childbirth, both admirable goals. Yet the crux of the report is that, while we need to save those who do give birth, we need fewer of them. In the eyes of the UNFPA, it is the babies of maternity wards present and future that are the culprits in climate change: “Each birth results not only in the emissions attributable to that person in his or her lifetime, but also the emissions of all his or her descendants.”

Before world leaders head to Copenhagen to try and hammer out a deal on climate change, UNFPA wants them to consider population growth as a contributing factor to be dealt with. Its report says: “No human is genuinely ‘carbon neutral,’ especially when all greenhouse gases are figured into the equation. Therefore, everyone is part of the problem, so everyone must be part of the solution in some way. The world’s Governments and peoples will need to work together on every aspect of the factors that increase greenhouse-gas emissions. One such factor is the earth’s growing population.”

Silly me; I thought that people of the world working together was the cause of population growth.

Seriously, though, the simplicity of the logic behind this report might win you over. If people are causing climate change and we wish to stop it, then we should have fewer people on the planet.

According to a report prepared for Britain’s Optimum Population Trust, spending just $7 on basic family planning would reduce carbon dioxide emissions by one tonne, while achieving the same reduction by using alternative low carbon energy sources would cost $32. Again, this makes sense; who wouldn’t want to save $25 and avoid having to look at an unsightly wind turbine if all it will take is mailing boxes of Durex to the third world?

It’s a theme advanced by some very powerful people, including Jonathon Porritt, an advisor to prime ministers, Prince Charles, and Tim Flannery, the Australian scientist who not only backs reducing Australia’s population, but also recently let slip that the Copenhagen negotiations are not really about climate change.

Yet the logic is fundamentally flawed.

The UNFPA study suggesting a greater family planning effort to prevent future children from being born and therefore reduce carbon emissions, actually shows that unplanned pregnancies are higher in Western industrialized countries. It says:

“Rates of unintended pregnancies are actually higher in the industrialized countries than in the developing ones, according to the Guttmacher Institute, which studies the phenomenon in both blocs. In Europe, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and the United States, an average of 41 per cent of all pregnancies are unintended. In the developing countries, an estimated 35 per cent of pregnancies are unintended.”

I can’t speak for all of those developing countries, but I can say that in Canada, young people can hardly ride the bus or head out to a bar to meet their friends without being confronted with “family planning” messages and often have access to free contraceptives if they are at university. Yet despite all of this, the rate of unintended pregnancies — the type the report hopes to reduce in a bid to fight climate change — is higher where there is greater access to basic family planning. The facts do not support the hypothesis, but the report goes on: “Preventing unintended pregnancies could contribute to population stabilization in the long run and may in turn contribute to a reduction in greenhouse-gas emissions in the future.”

Then there is the problem of emission levels. The report admits that the populations a family planning program would target — the developing nations — emit far less greenhouse gases than people living in, say, Kansas. So if someone living in a little village outside of Nairobi emits a sliver of a fraction of the amount their cousin in Topeka emits, why would the Population Fund target the Kenyans instead of the Americans with their family planning model? It’s an important question, but one the report dances past, simply stating that the carbon footprint of the one billion poorest people in the world is 3 per cent of the global total, and since climate change will impact the poor of the world most severely we should have fewer of them.

Well, okay; the report does not actually say, “Let’s have fewer poor Africans”, which would be a noble goal if it meant lifting Africans out of poverty; but the report does say the poorest countries who contribute the least to carbon emissions should be the target of the family planning model for dealing with climate change. Ergo, the United Nations thinks one solution to climate change is fewer poor Africans. Not very enlightened now, is it?

There is another problem with the idea that sending condoms and other family planning paraphernalia into the developing world will reduce the population in the way that well-meaning Western researchers think it will. Simply this: it hasn’t worked with AIDS.

When Pope Benedict came out against condoms as the way to prevent AIDS in Africa saying their use would only make the situation worse, the reaction was swift. The leader of the Catholic Church was condemned as someone who was out of touch and driven by agenda. Yet who should leap to the pope’s defence, but Dr. Edward Green, director of Harvard’s HIV Prevention Research Project. Dr. Green’s research found that in areas where access to condoms was more prevalent the incidence of HIV infection was also higher.

Not a fan of the condom and AIDS example? Consider then how well Britain’s aggressive plan to reduce teen pregnancy has fared. Despite having family planning education throughout the school curriculum, teen pregnancy rates in Britain are the highest in Western Europe. According to a report in The Daily Telegraph, teen pregnancy rates in Britain have risen by one-third over the last decade.

The UNFPA report promises solutions that don’t work for a problem that doesn’t exist. If the organization truly believed that having fewer people was a solution to climate change, it would be advocating getting rid of those pesky people commuting into Topeka, Kansas or Ottawa or any of the many North American towns surrounded by suburbs with massive carbon footprints. That idea however, is not an easy sell to the donor countries that support the UNFPA. If you want to understand why the report puts forth the solutions it does, you need to follow the money. As for those illicit prams and strollers, keep them out of sight lest the climate police coming snooping for surplus children.

Hananiah took his place beside his new king. It had not been a month since Zedekiah had been made King in Jerusalem, and already the kings of the neighboring states were coming to visit. Ithobal of Tyre was the second king to come – Sihon of Ammon had left only three days ago. And, it had not escaped his notice that the noble families of Jerusalem were abuzz with the hope for profits from doing business with these nations – and their liege lord Hophra of Egypt. Clearly, Troas had acted quickly on his advice on how to sway the heart of the new king.

Hananiah leaned over to speak softly into Zedekiah’s ear. “My Lord, it is said that it is Ithobal of Tyre who set in motion Egypt’s plans to build the canal. It is said he is wise and a hard bargainer, but that his word can be trusted.”

The young king nodded his head and waited as the doorkeeper announced the arrival of his counterpart. Though equals in title and sovereign powers, Zedekiah felt very much like a young maiden being eyed by a potential suitor before negotiating the wedding price. “Greetings Ithobal, King of Tyre and Protector of all sea faring merchants,” Zedekiah said.

“Blessings on he who sits on the Throne of David,” replied Ithobal. “I knew your father, Josiah, and have been blessed by the wisdom of the scribes he sent to tutor my own son years ago in the ways of your language and your God.” Ithobal bowed and motioned for his servants to present the gifts he had brought: Myrrh from Persia, fine gems from the southern tip of Africa. Even a fine cloth known as silk from a land so far to the east that it was known only as the Land of the Rising Sun.

Once the gifts had been presented, Zedekiah thanked him, saying “All Jerusalem is blessed by your presence. I have prepared a feast in your honor this evening. Please, accept my hospitality and refresh yourself before we dine tonight.”

King Ithobal bowed, hands spread. “Your highness is most kind. But see, the day is yet young. I would enjoy the King of Judah’s company for a stroll in your fine gardens.” Standing to his full height, he stretched out his burly right arm in the direction of the royal gardens, inviting Zedekiah to lead him in a tour of the grounds. His grin broadened into a smile when Zedekiah rose to indulge his request.

“So, King Ithobal, tell me what business brings you to Jerusalem so soon after my ascension to the throne? You never paid such an honor to my dead half brother, Jehoiakim,” asked Zedekiah as they walked into the gardens out of ear shot of the other members of the court.

They walked down a green lawn flanked on either side by well-tended red and yellow tulips. A cool breeze blew in from the mountains. Ithobal, a master of diplomacy, was in the element he most enjoyed. “Jehoiakim was an able leader, but he suffered from a flaw fatal to too many who rise to the place of a king: He was ruthless and unprincipled. He sought only his own advantage, not that of the people he governed. I prefer not to deal with such men.”

“And what leads you to believe that I am different?” asked Zedekiah.

“My man, Troas, whom you will meet, tells me that you are. He was here for your coronation. It was he who suggested I come to pay my respects – to see for myself if you might be the kind of leader he believes you to be.”

Zedekiah’s raised eyebrows emphasized the surprise and inquisitiveness in his voice. “And what kind of leader does he believe me to be?”

“Zedekiah, my friend, the same as I. One who chafes under the oppression of an overlord. One who would see his people free from tyranny. Answer me truthfully, when you took the vow to serve the King of Babylon, was your heart in it?”

Zedekiah shifted his gaze to the ground as they slowed their pace. Finally, he answered: “No, it was not. But the prophet Jeremiah says it is the will of our God that we serve Babylon.”

“I thought as much. Troas told me that you were, shall we say, less than enthusiastic in pledging fealty to Babylon.”

“But what else was I to do?” pleaded Zedekiah. “The armies of Babylon surrounded us at every turn. I had to submit, or see Jerusalem destroyed.”

King Ithobal indulged Zedekiah’s excuses for another ten minutes, nodding his head in sympathy with the young king’s plight. But when he again brought up the prophet Jeremiah’s name, and how he had instructed the new king that Judah must submit to Nebuchadnezzar, Ithobal determined that it was time to turn the conversation in the direction he wished it to go.

“I have heard of this Jeremiah,” said King Ithobal. “I have heard he is a great wizard. Rumor has it that he is the teacher of the Hebrew wise man who advises Nebuchadnezzar, Daniel. Is this true?”

“Yes, it is he. Why do you ask?” Zedekiah responded cautiously.

Ithobal placed his arm around the younger man’s shoulder and leaned closer to his ear, as would a father to a son. “I have learned much of this prophet, and I fear he seeks only to aggrandize himself at your expense. He once served in a prominent position under the reign of your father, Josiah. He lost that position when Jehoiakim came to power. Now, with his disciple advising Nebuchadnezzar and you under the spell of his powers, he seeks to elevate himself at any cost. I would wager that he has kept secret from you the recent triumphs of Pharaoh Hophra and his growing power.”

“Indeed, of what triumphs do you bear news?” asked Zedekiah.

The King of Tyre recounted the story of Egypt’s victory over Kush. He told of how Babylon had tried to use that nation to open a second front on her enemy’s southern border, coming so soon after Nebuchadnezzar’s own loss at Migdol. He also spoke of the canal project, and the city of Pithom which had been built to house the nearly thirty thousand slaves and craftsmen who now worked to complete it. And then, Ithobal dangled his surprise carrot in front of the young, impressionable king.

“Within a year,” Ithobal said, “Pharaoh Hophra plans to travel on a diplomatic trip to foster trade and economic cooperation with the states of the Gaza Plain. The Pharaoh is especially interested in coming to pay you a visit.”

Zedekiah’s slow pace through the garden now came to a complete halt. “Interested in visiting me!” exclaimed Zedekiah. “Why, in the name of Jehovah God, would he wish to do that?”

“As I said, my friend, you are a king who chafes at the thought of your people suffering the tyranny of the tyrant from Babylon. Pharaoh Hophra wishes to solidify an alliance against Babylon, but you are the key to making that alliance a reality. Hophra knows that. That’s why he wishes to come and pay his respects to you here in Jerusalem.”

Ithobal watched Zedekiah’s reaction carefully. At this point it was necessary only to sell Zedekiah on the prestige of having Pharaoh Hophra pay him a personal visit. Step two would be to convince the new king of Judah to hear the arguments for forming an alliance against Babylon. Each stage would give Zedekiah the ability to deny to Jeremiah or anyone else that he was openly betraying his allegiance to Babylon. In the mean time, through economic incentives, Tyre and Egypt would buy influence among the merchants of Jerusalem. Eventually, it would be their calls for supporting Egypt which would cause Zedekiah to renounce Nebuchadnezzar and Babylon. This prophet Jeremiah could rant and rave all he liked. In the end, the power of gold would triumph, as it always did. King Ithobal was not disappointed by the impressionable king’s response.

“I will receive Pharaoh with honor when he arrives,” said Zedekiah. “Even Jeremiah will see the necessity of keeping on good terms with Egypt. After all, I will not violate any trust to which I have sworn with Nebuchadnezzar. It is good. Now, come, we should return to make ready for the banquet I have had prepared in your honor.”

As the two walked back to rejoin the others at court, Ithobal silently congratulated himself on moving his agenda forward. Truly, he would enjoy the evening that awaited as his just reward.

from politics.co.uk: Harriet Harman could ban Christmas celebrations with her equality bill, a group

from politics.co.uk:

Harriet Harman could ban Christmas celebrations with her equality bill, a group of bishops has warned.

The would-be Grinch, also known as the beleaguered equalities minister, is being blamed by Roman Catholic clergy worried they will be forced to cancel Christian celebrations for fear of offending other cultures.

In a letter to MPs, Monsignor Andrew Summersgill, general secretary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference, said Ms Harman’s bill will fuel Britain’s ‘risk-averse’ culture.

“Under existing legislation, we have seen the development of a risk-averse culture with outcomes as ridiculous as reports of a local authority instructing tenants to take down Christmas lights in case they might offend Muslim neighbours, or of authorities removing the word Christmas out of cultural sensitivity to everyone except Christians.

“If this bill is serious about equality, everything possible must be done to avoid it having a chilling effect on religious expression and practice.”

The letter is part of the evidence being considered by the parliamentary committee examining the proposed bill.

The legislation being championed by the Labour deputy leader aims to close the gender pay gap and encourage public authorities to give minority groups more opportunities.

It could also force religious groups to take on gay staff; a measure that was derided by senior clergy who fear the new law would reduce the power of the Church and ‘dilute’ its moral message.

“The Catholic Church has significant concerns about the practical implications of some parts of the bill,” the letter added.

An Equalities Office spokesman denied the claim that the legislation would impact on Christmas celebrations.

He said: “That’s ridiculous; of course local councils can still put up Christmas tree lights or mark any other religious ceremony such as Diwali, Eid or Ramadan.”

The emergence of the letter follows yesterday’s ruling by the BBC Trust that Radio 4’s Thought for the Day would continue to showcase religious views only, rejecting calls to allow atheists, secularists and humanists to contribute.
