<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>I’d like to know the person who first came up with the notion that ‘’all’’ docs &#38; medi students are boring creatures. See the thing is, these blokes know so much about the way the body &#38; its organs work that they inherently know all the loopholes associated with it.</p>
<p>I used to think that 99.9% of docs &#38; medi students were fags too. Then I met Mr. Brown. Ok so Mr. Brown might actually be a apart of the 0.1% you might say, but let me just add this, Mr. Brown says he’s not alone. ‘’There are hundreds like me’’, ‘’they are all like me’’, which leads me to believe that the fagness deemed fitting for docs &#38; med students is purely a Sri Lankan phenomenon. Now if you happen to be a lankan doc or medi student going through this I’d like you to read the disclaimer mentioned in the ‘’about’’ section of this blog. </p>
<p>So what’s the thing about this Mr. Brown dude? For beginners, them med students including the said Brown parties quite a lot in the Gold coast… what’s the big deal? With fucking saline strapped to their arms &#38; flowing through their veins so they can drink all night &#38; not get shit faced for fuck’s sake! Impressive… </p>
<p>Public service announcement to Business students – We need to up the ante, step up &#38; be counted for. </p>
<p>I’ll just leave the sex out of this post, that’s a whole series worthy of a ‘’californication’’ style, only much worse, tv series which would belittle the pure ingenuity of it by writing a single post on it in this mediocre blog. </p>
<p>I’ll just move from ‘’avoiding being shit faced’’ the ‘’Whole night whilst gulping’’ to….  You probably guessed it, ‘’Getting shit faced with about 5ml of this super intoxicating solution’’. Not sure if these blokes including Mr. Brown have got an International patent on this or something, but here’s the recipe to all those stoners out there. </p>
<p>Ingredients</p>
<p>Fist full of real good weed</p>
<p>1 bottle or just some qty of Bacardi 151 </p>
<p>Note – There’s no Bacardi 151 available at the duty free or anywhere in Sri Lanka. I checked. Try the US, if anyone’s coming over you now know what you want for Christmas now. </p>
<p>Microwave the weed at the highest possible temp, think Mr. Brown mentioned like 300 degrees or something. Apparently it activates some chemical reaction &#38; elevates something from an inactive to an active state. Thermo chemistry. Enthalpy of what the fuck was it? </p>
<p>Anyway, you then put what’s left of this stuff into a strainer &#38; pour the Bacardi 151 through it mixing &#38; string all the while. </p>
<p>What you end up getting on the other side is toxic shit that is guaranteed to have you crawling on the floor in quick time.</p>
<p>Warning – You’re only supposed to have like 5ml. Do not, gup down a 50 in your alcoholic sisters favourite shot glass. If you happen to do so read the disclaimer mentioned on the ‘’about’’ section of this blog. </p>

<p>So you see, Med students are not bad after all.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>Antes de começar o post, quero deixar aqui registrada minha decepção comigo mesma por não ter sido capaz de editar um vídeo que gravei pra colocar aqui. Nem o Movie Maker eu tive paciência de aprender a usar, então vou ilustrar o post com um vídeo já pronto e editado e lindo que fizeram no evento da Bacardi que participei. hahaha <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif' alt=':(' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p>Esse post é o segundo com o tema &#8220;RECEITA&#8221; aqui no meu blog. Mas dessa vez não é coisa de menininha, doninha de casa boa pra casar não! Nããão, nananinanão! Muito pelo contrário! É de garota baladeira bêbada animada que se joga na balada e ahaza! Hahaha brinks..Mas enfim, vamos parar de enrolar e chegar logo onde interessa!</p>
<p>Introdução: eu sempre fui fã de cerveja. Sempre fui a garota da cerveja, vou pro bar só tomo cerveja, vou pra balada só tomo cerveja e bababi bababá. Bebidas destiladas não são o meu negócio. Não curto aquele gosto de bebida alcoólica que fica na boca, sabe? Só escolhia tomar destilados quando queria ficar triloca [ou seja, quase nunca]. Até que um dia, me chamaram pra fazer figuração num comercial pra internet da Bacardi Mojito. Achei mega divertido fazer, tinha bebidinhas de graça, muita gente bonita e azaração! Foi lá que eu experimentei, pela primeira vez, um mojito de qualidade. Aquele que você toma e sente um gosto bom, não uma ânsia de vômito [que é o meu caso as vezes]. Depois, rolou uma festinha no Sonique da Bacardi Mojito, e lá eu tive um mini curso de bartender. Não foi bem um mini curso, eu só aprendi a fazer mojito e, como ficou uma delícia e eu viciei totalmente nessa bebida, resolvi passar a receita pra vocês, pq coisa boa a gente tem que dividir casamiga né? hahaha <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif' alt=':D' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<p>Ingredientes para Mojitar-se:</p>
<p><strong>50 ml de Bacardi Superior</strong> [eu coloco a gosto pq não gosto se ficar muito forte]</p>
<p><strong>7 folhas de hortelã</strong> [bonitas, tamanho médio]</p>
<p><strong>1 colher de sopa de açúcar</strong> [não muito cheia, mas também a gosto]</p>
<p><strong>15 ml de suco de limão</strong> [eu expremo meio limão e ta ótimo]</p>
<p><strong>Água com gás</strong> [pra completar o copo - e pelo amor, não usar bebidas de limão tipo Sprite, fica doce e horrível!]</p>
<p>Exprema o limão no copo, coloque a colher de sopa de açúcar e as folhas de hortelã. Marece a hortelã bem de leve, sem deixar ela se moer e despedaçar. Coloque bastante gelo no copo junto com o Bacardi Superior e mexa bastante, de preferência use uma coqueteleira. Depois, coloque no copo e decore com umas folhinhas de hortelã por cima [pq além de gostoso, tem que ficar lindo né?]</p>
<p>Aqui estou eu fazendo meu super mojito delicioso na festa da Bacardi:</p>

<title><![CDATA[Germán Le Batard: La Prueba del Añejo.]]></title>

<p>Es 1952. Eres un chico de 14 años. Estás en Cuba y la situación no está nada bien; juegos, casinos y corrupción llenan la isla.<br />
La gente está inconforme. Tu familia tiene poco dinero y sabes que una revolución se acerca.<br />
Tu padre quiere que sigas el pequeño y poco redituable negocio familiar pero tú te niegas. Quieres seguir tu sueño; la música.<br />
Llevas algún tiempo  repartiendo tu tiempo entre la escuela, los trabajos mal pagados con horas extras y las retas de fútbol; estás harto.<br />
Decides dejar a escondidas aquellos trabajos ocasionales de mesero o lavaplatos, para empezar a dedicarle tiempo a tú música.<br />
Al poco tiempo tu padre se entera. Te regaña culpando a tu egoísmo y te pide ser realista; te exige dejar tu sueño.<br />
Unos pocos meses después, la situación económica empeora aún más y por lo mismo la vida en tu casa se vuelve más difícil.<br />
Decides tomar el dinero que has ahorrado, producto de los trabajos y tocadas en la calle, y salir de la isla.<br />
Al fin, tantas horas trabajando en aquella casa de juegos había pagado. Uno de los clientes que frecuentemente atendías, decide ayudarte.<br />
Con todo arreglado, pocos días después llegas a México. Ahí no tienes nada, pero en Cuba tampoco.</p>
<p><strong><!--more--></strong></p>
<p><strong>Volver a empezar</strong></p>
<p>Germán Le Batard llegó a México en 1954. Con 16 años y su carisma por delante, consiguió un trabajo dentro de un bar donde tocaban jazz.<br />
El encargado del pequeño lugar, o don Memo como se hacía llamar, lo había encontrado tocando la guitarra en la calle. Era de noche y empezaba a llover, esto sólo hizo que Germán tocara con más fuerza para que su música pudiera oírse a través de la lluvia. Don Memo quedó impresionado por su determinación y  decidió que necesitaba alguien dispuesto a hacer trabajos pesados sin quejarse.<br />
A cambio de la mano de obra, Don Memo le permitía a Germán salir a escuchar al grupo de jazz, siempre y cuando no lo vieran, ya que podían multarlo al dejar entrar y trabajar a un menor de edad.</p>
<p>Poco tiempo después se le permitió tocar con la banda, pero el experimento resultó poco exitoso.<br />
La gente lo abucheaba constantemente, hasta que un día, después de que un hombre ebrio se subió al escenario a enfrentarlo, decidió dejar la música por la paz.<br />
Con el dinero que había ganado en esos dos años, se inscribió a una universidad, buscando una nueva oportunidad.</p>
<p>“Yo me encontré con la publicidad de casualidad. Yo ni sabía que era”, dice Germán Le Batard, con el acento que denota su nacionalidad, “Estaba en primer semestre de filosofía y letras, pero a penas a los 4 meses tuve que dejarlo porque la universidad cerró. Un día platicando con los cuates, yo les sugerí: oye mientras está cerrado esto vamos a estudiar periodismo. Uno del grupo dijo: no mira, a 2 cuadras está la escuela de publicidad. Me le quede viendo y le contesté: ok perfecto, pero ¿publicidad?, ¿qué es eso?”</p>
<p>Al año de entrar a la escuela, con ayuda de un maestro consiguió un trabajo como copy en la agencia Noble y asociados. Se dedicaba a transcribir todo lo que venía en las envolturas de diferentes productos. Era un trabajo aburrido, pero pagaba las cuentas.</p>
<p>“Recuerdo que mi primer jefe me pidió que le contara un poco de mi vida”, dice Germán abriendo los ojos y pasándose la mano por su cabello canoso, “tu vas a ser creativo, me dijo, y vas a tener éxito porque estás equipadísimo. Mira, eres un escritor frustrado, un músico frustrado, un cineasta frustrado, entonces vas a ser un muy buen publicista”.</p>
<p><strong>Las sábanas dejaron de ser grises</strong></p>
<p>Vemos a una mujer tender la ropa en su azotea. Algunas sábanas cuelgan en el tendedero.<br />
De pronto se oye la voz  burlona de otra mujer a lo lejos.<br />
–Bonitas sábanas grises Chela, o ¿son blancas?-<br />
La primera mujer, comienza a ponerse roja mientras tuerce una toalla entre sus manos.<br />
Se oye la voz de un hombre.<br />
- Calma Chela, calma. Es muy difícil cambiar de vecinas. Es más fácil cambiar de detergente. ¿Por qué no cambia para Rápido?</p>
<p>“Mi primer chamba grande fue cuando en Noble me subieron a creativo”, dice Germán sonriendo y haciendo grandes ademanes, “Y allí tuve la suerte de hacer una campaña muy importante que fue la de “bonitas sábanas grises”, tenía mucho humor y gustó bastante.</p>
<p>A partir del éxito de esa campaña, le empezaron a confiar cuentas más grandes. Aumentando su responsabilidad y los retos creativos, ya que en ese tiempo todavía no se explotaba al máximo el alcance de la televisión a nivel publicitario.<br />
Germán detectó éste factor rápidamente y decidió aplicarlo a su siguiente gran campaña: el Chaca chaca de Ariel.</p>
<p>Una de las campañas más importantes de la publicidad mexicana en los últimos años del siglo pasado fue la de las cubetas de Ariel.<br />
En los diferentes anuncios se veía cómo con sólo agregar el detergente Ariel a una cubeta, esta se convertía en una lavadora automática.</p>
<p>Aparte del record de participación del mercado que impuso, con un 18% en un año, también obtuvo una marca en el rubro de anuncio con más demandas debido a que las personas realmente pensaban que las cubetas se convertirían en lavadoras.</p>
<p>“Fue desechada por Procter &#38; Gamble, quejándose de la frivolidad del departamento creativo al presentar esa mentira”, dice Germán mientras se ríe reclinándose en su silla, “¿Qué mamarrachada es esa?, nos dijeron”.</p>
<p>Debido a la respuesta inicial, le quitaron algunas cuentas de peso. Esto no le importó a Germán ya que confiaba plenamente en su campaña. Se le hacía que era una buena idea incomprendida, que sacaba a su escritor frustrado.<br />
Muchas personas de distintas compañías compartían esa visión por lo cual insistieron en que sólo seguirían encargando la publicidad de su marca a Noble, si Germán seguía llevando su cuenta.</p>
<p>Dos años después volvieron a rechazarle un proyecto de bastante peso.<br />
Agarra la jarra de Bacardi, había comenzado como una promoción en la cual regalarían jarras que publicitaban la combinación de Bacardi y Coca-Cola. Cuando la campaña y el jingle estaban listos, gobernación  no dio permiso para la promoción, y sin esta no había razón para llevar adelante la campaña.</p>
<p>Germán fue a casa de Juan Grau, que era el presidente de Bacardi.<br />
-No podemos cancelar, además yo les juro que va a funcionar, aún sin promoción tiene un gran valor publicitario.<br />
- Mira chico, sobre mi cadáver tú haces eso.<br />
- Juan, por el amor de Dios, por favor, trust me , por favor.<br />
- No chico<br />
Germán se pone de rodillas en medio de la sala.<br />
- Va sobre tu responsabilidad Germán, va tu cabeza en esto.</p>
<p>6 años después Bacardi pasó de 8 mil cajas a 8 millones.</p>
<p><strong>Escalando</strong></p>
<p>Tres años después Germán se encontraba sentado en una nueva oficina. Una mucho más grande que hacía juego con su nuevo cargo: vicepresidente creativo.</p>
<p>Algunas campañas le traían reveses, pero Germán se encargaba de que fueran más ruidosos sus éxitos, formándose así un nombre y fama que le sobreviven hasta ahora.</p>
<p>Germán Le Batard llegó a ser el presidente de la agencia publicitaria que 10 años antes lo había contratado como copy.<br />
Durante otros 10 años mantuvo el puesto, hasta que los norteamericanos que manejaban la agencia decidieron que ya estaba viejo y lo despidieron.</p>
<p>“No dieron una explicación clara, obviamente me fui peleando porque todavía tenía mucho que darle a la agencia, pero al final me fui, dice Germán cruzando rápidamente los brazos, sin quitar la sonrisa.</p>
<p>“Afortunadamente me encontré a mi amigo Javier Salas, que en 1999 me invitó a juntarme con el sr. Altamirano y el sr. Igazar, para ser socios de la agencia Proeza Slai”, dice Germán, “es un honor que nuestras iniciales formen parte del nombre”.</p>
<p>A partir de esa alianza surgieron campañas importantes como las hormiguitas del afore Banamex, las vacas de  Alpura, la nueva imagen del IFE, el seguimiento del SAT, etc.</p>
<p>La prueba del añejamiento</p>
<p>Es finales de 2005. Estás en una sala concurrida. Tu amigo y socio, Javier Salas a través del micrófono hace una reseña de tus logros.<br />
La gente aplaude. Descubren una placa en la puerta de la sala magna que tiene tu nombre. Javier, declara que la iniciativa de tu reconocimiento fue por parte de todo el equipo creativo, debido a que te consideran como un guía espiritual, pero en versión creativo.</p>
<p>Te paras delante de todos y dices que te sientes halagado de ser aceptado en un grupo de gente joven que no tiene porque saber quien eres ni mucho menos.<br />
Explicas que no piensas dejar la publicidad por que eres un adicto y la creatividad es la única droga legal que conoces.<br />
Les das las gracias por reconocer que estas viviendo la mejor etapa de tu vida, debido a que has redescubierto cosas que estaban dormidas, incluyendo la creatividad. Te declaras en total plenitud y aseguras que es gracias a su apoyo. Elevas tu vaso y gritas ¡salud!.<br />
Mientras le das un buen trago a tu bebida, sonríes al pensar que con más de 70 años, aún sigues pasando, y con honores, la prueba del añejo.</p>

<title><![CDATA[The Monterrey Night Club Experience]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p>On Saturday the 14th of November we travelled north to Monterrey to visit Daniel (pronounced <em>dan-yell</em>) and Eduardo (pronounced <em>Eduardo</em>), two lovely Mexicans who lived next door to Anne and Leslie about seven years ago.</p>

<p>To cut a long story short, we took an overnight bus from Morelia the night before. We left at 9pm Friday night and arrived around 8am Saturday morning. I took a sleeping pill and it worked wonders, despite grave concerns about the side-effects, none of which came true (including where I wake up with my underwear soiled and my body completely paralysed because I broke my neck by sleeping on it wrong).</p>
<p>To <em>really</em> cut a long story short, we did a few things in the day then went out to a famous Monterrey night club called <em>Privatt</em>.</p>
<p>Daniel, Eduardo, and their clan of exactly 23 friends head out every Saturday night to Privatt. I was told by Cuco, an esteemed member of the Monterrey Clan, that they have come to the same night club <em>every </em>Saturday night for the past 6 or so years. It was that good.</p>
<p>We approached Privatt through a bustle of extraordinarily well dressed young Mexicans. The men were generally clean-cut and stylish, with gleaming gelled hair an fine clothing; the women wore lavish dresses, high heels, acutely refined makeup. Everybody&#8217;s eyes and hair were glistening in the light coming out of Privatt. From the outside it looked like the gates of Heaven, if Heaven was run by flamboyantly wealthy Mexicans.</p>
<p>I was dressed in jeans and a crinkled collared shirt and my eyes glistened too, but mostly because of the side-effects of the sleeping pills, which were finally revealed to me in the form of a headache and a slight case of eye-droop.</p>

<p>But the headache and the droop disappeared instantly the moment we were whisked straight past the club lineup, past the burly black-suited bouncers, down the glowing walkway, through the glittering doors, past a midget dressed in the style of a cowboy, and finally into the hot, heaving throng of hundreds of party-goers better dressed than me.</p>
<p>Privatt was pumping like some crazy Mexican pumping machine, full of flashing strobing lights, bottles of Bacardi, projected videos, glistening eyes and jewelry, gleaming hair, and artificial fog, which confirms the feeling of being in Heaven. This was Mexico, <em>Magico Mexico,</em> as Guillermo and Daniel had said, a country where all your dreams can come true, even if you were markedly smaller than everyone else and wearing a cowboy outfit.</p>
<p>As we approached the reserved table, it still had not occurred to me when I saw the second midget that they were not just eccentrically dressed patrons of the club, but actually eccentrically dressed <em>staff</em>, appointed by the club owners to walk around and be, well, eccentrically dressed midgets. I still do not know why it took until the following evening for Leslie to inform me that they were not just out for a good time, but were actually working there. Magico Mexico had me under its spell I suppose.</p>

<p>The Bacardi also had me under its spell, along with everyone else.</p>
<p>We had a special booth with a table right over the dance floor, next to the DJs who were busy fiddling and switching amidst the fog and the lurid strobe lights. All Daniel and Eduardo&#8217;s friends were crammed into the booth, talking animatedly. It was the same booth they&#8217;d been to every night for time immemorial. The table was crammed with glasses, bottles of Bacardi, buckets of ice, empty shots, bowls of cut lime and bottles of soft drink, which a waiter was constantly attending to to ensure both the table and everyone around it remained loaded. This was a party, amigo!</p>
<p>At one point a waiter arrived with a tray of shots, some kind of sugary, salty, apple concoction. And then he set fire to them. The shots burst into flames (see above picture), and I was lucky enough to take a snap just at the right moment. They tasted just like crazy firey sugary salty apple shots should taste.</p>
<p>The music alternated between DJ sets and a live cover band, which was not tacky at all but rather amazing. They played a raucous mix of popular hits, all performed in an upbeat style. I decided after 15 minutes that the bass guitarist looked like Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter movies, if only Draco was 35 years old, Mexican, slightly overweight and stopped brushing his hair. The lead singer was also blonde and with a broadly circuitous chest, which seemed to be a source of much excitement for the men on the dance floor.</p>
<p>It was about 4am when we finally decided to call it quits. The Mexican night life had swallowed us whole, digesting all the energy from our bodies whilst giving us one hell of a ride. It was a deliriously blissful feeling. Outside we picked up some slices of pizza from a street vendor, grabbed one of the shabby dinted green taxis and made our way back to Eduardo&#8217;s place to find some much needed rest.</p>
<p>The next morning we were served tacos made with the inner cheeks of a cow, but that&#8217;s another story.</p>

La success story Grey Goose qui ouvre notre série sur les vodkas premium, que je vous propose désormais tous les lundis.</strong></p>
<p>S’appuyant sur le prestige dont les produits français bénéficient aux Etats-Unis, Sydney Frank, américain d’origine, eût l’idée géniale de créer une vodka haut de gamme de fabrication française. Depuis 1997, cette eau de vie est distillée à Cognac, région historique des spiritueux, par H.Mounier, référence incontournable du secteur (Cognac Prince Hubert de Polignac). Bacardi rachète ensuite la marque Grey Goose à Sydney Franck en 2004, pour un montant que l’on murmure s’élever à 2 milliards de dollars…</p>
<p>Bien que Grey Goose se situe en troisième position en terme de vente, derrière Absolut Vodka et Smirnoff, elle n’en est pas moins le leader mondial des vodkas haut de gamme. Et en cinq ans, depuis 1999 date du lancement, la marque a multiplié son chiffre d’affaires par trois. Mais Bacardi a le culte du secret et difficile de trouver le montant exact.</p>
<p>Si nous nous penchons maintenant sur les caractéristiques du packaging, que nous révèle l’oie grise ?<br />
La bouteille est une Ariane de chez Saverglass, revêtue d’un satinage partiel avec fenêtre représentant une oie. Puis 4 encres composent le décor des montagnes que l’on peut admirer au travers de la fenêtre laissée vierge de satinage. Mais au lieu d’être imprimé sur la face avant, le décor est en fait imprimé sur l’arrière ; challenge technique si besoin est de le préciser.</p>
<p>Un bandeau bleu, blanc, rouge indique très clairement la provenance du produit, accompagné de la mention « produced and distilled in France ». L’accent est mis sur le prestige français, comme le souhaitait Sydney Frank à l’origine.<br />
Les montagnes évoquent la nature, l’air pur, le froid qui correspondent à l’imaginaire de la vodka qui se sert glacée.<br />
Pourquoi l’oie alors ? Symbole du voyage, de la découverte, du retour, l’oie est également…symbole de gastronomie française et de prestige. La boucle est bouclée.</p>
<p>La bouteille est livrée dans un étui dont le décor de montagne est repris sur le bas.</p>
<p>Le conditionnement est proposée en 37,5cl, 50cl, 1,75 litres, 4,5litres et 6 litres. La marque a également procédé à un élargissement de gamme avec une déclinaison de quatre saveurs : orange, vanille, citron et poire.</p>
<p>Grey Goose poursuit ainsi son ascension fulgurante grâce à un marketing agressif face à ses concurrents. Elle a d’ailleurs ouvert en 2005 un bar de glace et marche directement sur les plates-bandes de son plus célèbre concurrent, Absolut Vodka, du groupe Pernod Ricard.</p>

<p>Yeah. Things did not go according to plan. High school friend came up to visit and we were going to hit up the city, or go bar-hopping in Berkeley. Decided to pre-party before heading over to the bars. Never ended up leaving the apartment. I KO&#8217;d for half an hour, and when I came to, other friends had a bit too much, and were physically/emotionally gone. Not exactly the way I&#8217;d hope things would turn out, but you know, shit happens. I&#8217;m just glad everyone is doing fine this morning.</p>
<p>Lesson learned: know your limits and avoid the slippery slope. I don&#8217;t think any of us will be drinking hard liquor for a while. Look out for another entry later today!</p>

<p>Outro fato também bastante conhecido é a existência de inúmeras <strong>campanhas educativa</strong>s para mostrar os riscos de dirigir alcoolizado, todas bem didáticas, mas que não impedem que muita gente cometa barbaridades por aí.</p>
<p>Outro dia, o <strong><a href="http://colunas.epoca.globo.com/pelomundo">Paulo Nogueira</a></strong>, querido jornalista que habita as terras londrinas, postou um link curioso no seu Twitter e que me chamou a atenção por tentar resolver o problema que envolve direção e bebida de uma forma criativa: um duelo do sete vezes campeão de F1 <strong>Michael Schumacher </strong>versus <strong>Salvatore &#8220;The Maestro&#8221; Calabrese</strong>, um expert na arte de fazer drinks.</p>
<p>A ideia foi da <strong>Bacardi Limited</strong>, maior companhia de bebida alcoólica do mundo, que pretende mostrar aos seus consumidores a importância do <strong>consumo consciente</strong> do álcool. Assim, surgiu a campanha <strong><a href="//www.championsdrinkresponsibly.com/">&#8220;Campeões bebem com responsabilidade&#8221;</a></strong> e que traz Schumacher como figura principal, ele que é o embaixador global de responsabilidade social da Bacardi.</p>
<p>Uma das peças da campanha é o <strong>viral</strong> com o &#8220;duelo&#8221;. Nele, Schumacher faz manobras fortes e dirige acelerado enquanto Salvatore tenta misturar um drink no banco do carona. Bom para conscientizar, porque alerta com <strong>bom-humor</strong>, afinal, rende boas risadas do início ao fim do vídeo.</p>

<p>Rita Hayworth se clareó el pelo negro azabache para que le quedara color caoba. Para enfatizar su apariencia de viuda, utilizó electrodos con forma de aguja de modo que su línea de pelo quedara más arriba. Se castigó el cartílago  hasta que su nariz de mestiza quedó afilada. El lingüista local de Fox Pictures le trabajó la lengua: la enseñó a suavizar las erres y pronunciar palabras como <em>salamander</em> y <em>salad</em> sin sonar como mojada.</p>
<p>Una vez que el lingüista y el maestro de maquillaje practicaron la transformación, los productores mandaron a Rita a Buenos aires para hacer una película sobre casinos ilegales y triángulos amorosos. Rita sabía de casinos: había bailado en algunos y se había pasado la vida sentada en sus mesas. Y también sabía de triángulos amorosos: había salido y entrado de varios muchas veces; en una ocasión hasta le agregó una cuarta arista a uno ya existente. La película se llamaba Gilda y, de entre las docenas que filmó, era la que más había odiado. Décadas más tarde, sentada en su departamento neoyorkino con vista al East River y con el cerebro ya medio disuelto en la demencia senil del alzheimer, Rita Hayworth soñaba con ciruelas con sal y un mundo mejor en el que Gilda nunca había existido.</p>
<p>“Cada uno de los hombres que conocía cayó en los brazos de Gilda y se levantó conmigo”, solía decir, enlistando a los hombres con los que se había casado y que luego había dejado:</p>

Por las noches iba a las funciones del Circo Argentino y  veía los gatos matemáticos haciendo ejercicios de aritmética mientas le daba sorbitos a una taza de mate. El té era amargo y el olor del cuenco y las hojas molidas hicieron gotear la afilada nariz de Rita.</p>
<p>Después de la función, mientras los elefantes apretaran las cuerdas de la carpa, Rita lamió la mucosidad de su labio superior, entró al lobby del hotel y tomó el elevador hasta su cuarto. Ya acostada pensó que había algo de solitario en sus películas y los gatos matemáticos. Sus ciruelos se habían marchitado hacía tiempo, de modo que sus lágrimas en adelante irían a dar cuando mucho al colchón gastado de una cama de hotel.</p>

<p>Ambos Mundos es, ante todo, un bello y tradicional hotel de La Habana repleto de historias literarias. En uno de sus cuartos, según dice la leyenda, Hemingway escribió su novela <em>Tener o no tener,</em> en mil novecientos treinta y pico, y luego, en otra visita, se encerró a beber ron con el fotógrafo Walker Evans durante más de una semana, en una estadía que el escritor cubano Cabrera Infante llamó “los diez días que estremecieron a Bacardi”.</p>
<p>Siempre me gustó el nombre de ese hotel, y años después, para mi sorpresa, lo encontré repetido en un viejo restaurante de la Plaza Real de Barcelona, un lugar especializado en paellas y comida de mar que no sé si aún exista. La imagen que acompañaba el nombre en el aviso era un planisferio desdoblado que mostraba las dos caras del planeta: de un lado Europa y del otro América.</p>
<p>Cuando empecé a escribir este texto quise imaginar a don Quijote en los dos escenarios: sentado en la terraza del restaurante Ambos Mundos, en Barcelona, o acodado en uno de los balcones del hotel Ambos mundos, en La Habana, oteando la brisa del mar y observando a la gente. Don Quijote en Ambos Mundos. Y esto no es una ficción estrafalaria ni un sueño alucinado, pues es lícito pensar que alguien, alguna vez, se sentó a leer las aventuras del ingenioso hidalgo en cualquiera de estos lugares.</p>
<p>No sabemos lo que se lee en los hoteles o en las terrazas de los restaurantes mientras llega la comida, tampoco sabemos qué sueños o esperas, tal vez dolorosas o felices, se viven en estos sitios de paso. <p>Bacardi has been heavily promoting its message of &#8220;don&#8217;t drink and drive&#8221; to present itself as a responsible brand. To effectively do so, Bacardi had appointed Michael Schumacher a while back as its brand ambassador (similar to Johnnie Walker using Mika Hakkinen).</p>
<p>In the video, Michael and Salvatore “The Maestro” Calabrese, who is one of the world’s top cocktail mixers (glorified bartender?), tries to mix a cocktail with Michael zipping around the track in a Maserati GranTurismo. Obviously we know that it&#8217;s a recipe for failure and disaster. Quite symbolic of drinking and driving.</p>

<p>Para incrementar o verão e seguir uma tendência de mercado em colocar sabores nos produtos tradicionais a Bacardi lançou a <strong>Bacardi Big Apple</strong>. Consiste em um <strong>Rum</strong> com leve sabor de <strong>Maçã Verde</strong>.</p>
<p>A <strong>Absolut </strong>já faz isso a algum tempo com muito sucesso, principalmente por criar edições limitadas. Agora a moda parece ter se espalhado inclusive para as águas, temos vários lançamentos de água ou refrigerante de baixa caloria para este verão, no mercado.</p>
<p>Eu gostei, apesar de não consumir muito bebidas alcoólicas, o gosto ficou bom, bastante suave. Só senti falta de uma campanha publicitária mais forte e aqueles livretos com receitas para incrementar ainda mais a bebida. Também seriam interessantes ações em bares e restaurantes, fica a dica.</p>

<title><![CDATA[Sweet Nights, Burlesque &amp; Blinding Light: Tales Of The Cocktail 2009 In New Orleans - Part II - Feature]]></title>

<p>Continuing the trek requires a bit of education, stamina and life lived as the second part of &#8220;Tales Of The Cocktail&#8221; continues to form.</p>

<p>Lunch at noon becomes the first stop atop the Soul Revival Suite at the <a href="http://www.hotelmonteleone.com/">Hotel Monteleone</a>. <a href="http://www.drinkbocaloca.com/">Boca Loca</a> blends the infinity in &#8220;The Black Dog&#8221; with the latter spirit highlighting the dawn mixing eggs whites and apricots along with angostura bitters. This provided for a lifting taste [created by <a href="http://www.jeffreymorgenthaler.com/">Jeff Morgantheler</a> at <a href="http://www.clydecommon.com/">Clyde Common</a> in Portland, Oregon]  as birds glide over the French Quarter below.</p>
<p>Another aspect of the people within New Orleans is the sense of fun completed with a sense of the absurd and lurid visions of life. No one captures that energy like renowned artist Robert Rodriguez who created this year&#8217;s “Tales Of The Cocktail” poster. In addition he did a beautiful absinthe poster for Pacific (who was seen at the Absinthe Green Hour in Part I] which perfectly captures the return of the once banned spirit to the night of witching. Robert has also done extensive art for movie posters. Some ones a viewer might recognize is “The Two Jakes”, the sequel to “Chinatown” starring Jack Nicholson and “Jewel Of The Nile”, the sequel to “Romancing The Stone” starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. A great artist with a pop cultural sense of style wrapped in seduction.</p>
<p>The “Cocktails Of The Seven Seas” panel takes into account the pirates that once traversed the deep oceans with thoughts of rum and plundering, Mescal, fermented from the sap of the agave [initially beginning in 1503], was the apertif of choice in those times which got the  blood boiling on the long voyages. Some say that Agave began in the Phillipines and was brought by wind of the Pacific to Colima in Mexico.</p>
<p>The Margarita by comparison is claimed, in terms of origin, by a variety of places with the most likely being at a Caliente racetrack in Tijuana in the 1930s. Rum was the plunder originally of popularity in the Americas because it did not involve bad water. The vision of its origin however dates to Barbados which is still present in the view of Mount Gay Rum. The Mojito in justification was one of the earliest rum cocktails with an original nickname of “El Drague” as it was named after Sir Francis Drake and gained its first great notoriety with the Cuban working class of that island in the 1830s. Ernest Hemingway by extension brought it to the American consciousness in droves. At the panel, drink of levity sampled which brought to mind the open air darkness of the time was the “Voyager” highlighting the Mexican intermediary mixing the essence of Don Quixote, lime juice, flarnum syrup and bitters with a bit of punk style.</p>

<p>The Absinthe Carousel was the vision that was <a href="http://www.drinklucid.com/">Lucid</a>. Ted Breaux explained how he was able to get absinthe repealed from banned status in the US. He got it approved through the FDA by submitting it without the actual absinthe name and a lower proof level. It was passed but when he revealed it was actually absinthe, there was a backpedal by the government agency&#8230;but it had already been approved. The essence that was key was bringing down the proof level which sometimes dispels it from being the actual recipe from overseas. Todd also harks down the aspect of lighting the spirit on fire which simply displaces its poignancy. despite an overall cultural pervasion to do so. His analogy is that you wouldn&#8217;t light a fine cognac on fire.</p>

<p>The first new perspective of absinthe, teasing from an earlier conversation, used his new Lucid Reserve [only 5000 cases were made] envisioning a frap shot of the spirit containing minute ice slices shaken three times as long to give it the coldest ripeness.</p>

<p>Down on the waterfront, <a href="http://www.patobriens.com/patobriens/NO-private_parties/default.asp">Pat O&#8217;s On The River</a> transitioned into the Bartender&#8217;s Competition visiting the creative insistence of a variety of domestic tastes with one ingredient necessary: <a href="http://www.lebloncachaca.com/">Leblon Cachaca</a>.</p>
<p>From <a href="http://www.thevarnishbar.com/">Varnish</a> in Downtown LA, the “Pepperini” envisioned lime in the mix to create a light but underwhelming mix. The “Taste du Brazil”, enticed out of San Francisco, fared better with its insistence of ingredients taking Leblon with grilled pinneaple, candied pecans and homemade syrup like a motley dance taking place.</p>
<p>On the other end of the spectrum, Tim from <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Milwaukee-WI/Star-Bar/119365197896">Star Bar</a> in Milwaukee rocked a “Redemption” taking the Leblon with a speck of ginger beer and Sprite to make a wistful if not light spark.</p>

<p>From Austin, the aesthetic was in full hot mess mode with the beauty that was “Rosebud” from <a href="http://twitter.com/drinkswmindy">Mindy Kucans</a> draped in petals and flavor. Her quote reverberated by girls all over the world declares that “chocolate is so fucking phenomenal” as the agave blend of her drink blends with the sweetness [<a href="http://www.innocentchocolate.com/">Innocent</a> is the chocolate confectionary she  uses out of Austin] in an explosion of the senses.</p>

<p>New Orleans next takes the blend from Exu with a drink called “Mayiswan” using the Leblon, orange bitters and Lucid absinthe , chilled and icy with a spider garnish. Las Vegas comes to the stage with Tobin Ellis from Bar Monogamy bringing the “San Paolo Frap” zipping the icy with Leblon, apricot preserves, marmalade bitters and figs topped with a  dollop of whipped cream.</p>

<p>Chicago takes the point with Christiana from the Joy Ruby with her “Zsa Zsa” using Leblon, blackberries and fresh lime topped with soda which pops from the underlying fruit. Phoenix Arizona by comparison wants the heat with “The Rising” dipping the glass in cinnamon edge and adding Leblon.</p>

<p>In the darkness of the night, <a href="http://www.bacardi.com/">Bacardi&#8217;s</a> late night “Daiquiri Fest” in the inevitability of <a href="http://www.broussards.com/">Broussards</a> was everything it needed to be. Passing the bar in intense glare, the back room bathed in red beside open windows which parlayed a bed of every imaginable garnish and ingredient, fresh and willing upon the table with blackberries, strawberries, apples, pears, figs and the like.</p>

<p>A cucumber mojito set off the festivities with mixologist Nader declaring that “the sweet spot is at the bottom” and spoke of the naked rum parties of Zou Zou in New Orleans from years past. After a taste with the cherries in view, a coifed and high heeled beauty, writhing as a lotus flower swirled from her back, led your humble narrator astray through the lights of the party to a rum tasting in a private back room,, the ruby red lipstick smiling in her knowing.</p>

<p>A brow fedora clad gentleman, Aaron Ridonis, known as the “Roaming Gnome Of Rum” proceeded with a heightened tasting of the 8, 9 &#38; 10 year Bacardi Reserva line. In the last 24 months, he says their output and demand has nearly doubled. First off in tasting, the 10 year casts a spell with a tinge of vanilla surrounded in a realm of apricot while the Gold, only aged 2 years, still satisfies in its own territory though Ridonis says that the going count for Bacardi is over 280,000 Cuba Libres served every hour. Bacardi also employs an anerobic plant in its Puerto Rico distillery which turns waste water from the molasses and yeast into methanol. As the cold efforts on a new peak with a 24 year rum, the cold essence of its smoky interior thrills with a big aftertaste that is worth the wait.</p>

<p>Returning to the fruit cacophany, D Victory, who works a mixologist at the <a href="http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/Properties/NewOrleans/Default.htm">Ritz Carlton New Orleans</a>, makes “Something Dark” interpreting a noir setting of figs and blackberries with a viciousness of mint garnished by wasabi beads that swim through the mind. For D, in terms of bars in Orleans, The Frenchman is not to be missed. As the cherry mojito makes it way as if floating across the stage, the Lotus Flower tantalizes the lips as the girl with the leopard heels smiles back from the shadows.</p>

<p>At the Roosevelt, the witching hour passes as the <a href="http://www.greygoose.com/">Grey Goose</a> Dans Le Noir glows in its possibilities. The appointments for the blind tasting ruminate as a 2am thought becomes the reality. At the bar, the susceptability of the two/one Goose &#38; Cran allowed for carniverous interaction as the stairs beckoned.</p>
<p>With hands aloft on each other&#8217;s shoulders balancing the cocktail of choice, the descent into darkness placed the willing participants at tables of predetermined notion. No standing was allowed as the swirling of soldiers in night vision placed parallel glasses in two pairs of both pears and oranges and the respective infused vodkas using purely smell to separate the real. The separation, especially on the pear, was surprisingly sparse.</p>

<p>As the bar continued till the 3am hour, the infusion of mixed Goose from honey to pear danced the white glowing until the lights raised.</p>

<p>The <a href="http://www.drinkxante.com/">Xante </a>Tasting at the brisk of noon the next day implemented the angle of <a href="http://www.heering.com/">Heering</a> within the “Star Crossed Lovers” mixing Jameson, almond orgeny, lemon juice and egg whites into a sweet concoction of light as <a href="http://www.cigarfactoryneworleans.com/">The Cigar Factory New Orleans</a> offered a “Smooth Dream” for later consumption.</p>

<p>Other Xante conceptions blended in the light from the “Ginger Snap” mixing in simple syrup, fresh ginger and sugar to the “Chocolate Covered Cherry” layer (belied of Evan&#8217;s Dog Bar in San Fran) to the “Sapphire” which highlighting Xante on Ice originating in lust from the <a href="http://www.mondrian-miami.com/#/explore/?id=sunsetlounge">Sunset Lounge</a> at <a href="http://www.mondrian-miami.com/#/home/">The Mondrian</a> in Miami.</p>
<p>At the <a href="http://www.g-vine.com/">G Vine</a> lunch atop the Soul Revival Suite at the Montelone, the rejuvenation of crepes filled with mushrooms and spinach started the thrust anew with a water overload balanced by a vegetable tomato broth. Breaths were contained as the slip began.</p>
<p>The beauty of <a href="http://www.stgermain.fr/">St. Germain</a> entertained the afternoon within the black walled contained darkness of a secluded room as the mix of the beautiful Cointreau Noir offered symphony of vision. A balanced love in the &#8220;Lemon Creme Yvette&#8221; swirled in <a href="http://www.aviationgin.com/">Aviation Gin</a> served chilled and rocked up to the core while the lure of the <a href="http://www.cafeadelaide.com/">Swizzlestick</a> off the Quarter reveled our thoughts.</p>
<p>The essence of the second part of this trevail culminated in a panel recounting resolute tales of the Burlesque times of yore on Bourbon where the performance and tease was the pinpoint, according to the famous Kitty West who was the original “Evangelion Oyster Girl”. Next to her, Wild Cherry, who played over 500 clubs in her day, recollects the days in the 50s of full jazz bands and comedy emcees where the streets came to you. The pictures shown of burlesque queen Lilly Christine (since died) are the spitting image of Elizabeth Berkeley (late of “Showgirls”).</p>
<p>In the nights and times of the high-end burlesque clubs in New Orleans, the shows didn&#8217;t begin until 9:30pm and sometimes went until 3am with 3 to 4 shows a night. Cherry reveries her Oriental AfroAsian dance. The place to be at that time was the Old French Opera House on Bourbon where whiskey was served through a hole. One of the bigger draws was the “Champagne Girl” who had what Cherry called “shelf tits” which she could drink off of.</p>
<p>West jumps back in the fray with the mention of the infamous Blaze Starr, whom she did not like and whom she thought was a “money digging woman” who had affairs off the course. According to West, Starr would chew up roses and “spit them on her tits” to which West would always say: “You better spit something on them!”</p>
<p>One of the most famous burlesque images of the day involved Kitty West which was captured in Life Magazine at Stormy&#8217;s Casino Royale. One of the girls was commencing a strip tease out of a filled water tank. In the middle, Kitty came out full bore and cracked the glass aquarium with an axe in full view. The shot was brilliant and she was carted off to jail since the audience didn&#8217;t know it was a publicity stunt. The cops carted her away with some great shots but she never stepped behind the bars as a photo at the station attests with her smoking a cigarette.</p>
<p>The key here on the panel was stories but also a love of the old burlesque. Resolutely, as a young twenty something with the love of the tease reversed her glowing naked skin back into her sedate and conservative pant suit, the delicious taste that lies below was resurrected in a lost art that many in New Orleans are looking to recapture.</p>
<p>Rick DeLaup, moderator of the panel, lies behind the resurgence in the Quarter enticing the “<a href="http://www.bustoutburlesque.com/home.html">Bustout Burlesque</a>” nights at the <a href="http://www.houseofblues.com/venues/clubvenues/neworleans/">House Of Blues New Orleans</a> to begin the rage. The beauty of what could be found again continues with what he hopes will be the first <a href="http://www.neworleansburlesquefest.com/">New Orleans Burlesque Festival</a> kicking off in September. Kitty &#38; Cherry says that what passes on the streets today on Bourbon is not burlesque because “they are giving it out for free”. It is about performance and the art of being sexy.</p>
