A few weeks ago NY public radio station WNYC presented a fascinating documentary special called Back of the Bus: Mass transit, race and inequality.

The article, also available as a free MP3 download, examines the tangled history of the civil rights movement and public transit in our country. While exploring how the drive for equal access to public transportation and the resulting bus boycotts of the 1950s galvanized the civil rights movement, the article shows how the creation of the seemingly unrelated interstate highway system ultimately left many low-income black communities in the lurch when freeways destroyed homes and divided neighborhoods.

“At the same time we were doing Brown v. Board of Education and trying to integrate the school system,” says Angela Glover Blackwell, the head of PolicyLink, “we were investing billions of dollars in a highway system that segregated the nation by allowing people to be able to run away from urban areas that were integrated to suburban areas that were all white.”

The article goes on to talk about gentrification and the increasing demand for walkable, transit-friendly neighborhoods. There is so much to unpack in this thoughtful presentation of some very complicated ideas. Be sure to check out http://www.transportationnation.org/backofthebus/ for a slideshow and an interactive mass transit and civil rights timeline.

Can you say Queen of Her own Narcissism, Nancy Pelosi, is tossed out on her butt as Speaker. Maybe she’ll be MINORITY Leader.

But Prince Harry Reid and the Democrats managed to hold onto the Senate. But will Give ‘em All Hell Harry still be Speaker in January??

The Republicans only picked up 6 Seats. But now you have 49 Democrats, 2 Liberal Independents and 46 Republicans.

Maybe in 2012! Along with Obama we can sweep the cockroaches out of the People’s Congress.

So this is far from over!

Jan Brewer easily beat Terry Goddard. Thank the Lord. And we have a majority of Republicans in the House again. The Legislature is solidly Republican.

Lots of New Republican Governors so far also.

But The race to unseat Mr. “Boycott My State” Raul Grijalva was lost by 570 votes! (that went to 3rd party candidates) DAMN!

We passed by proposition to ban Affirmative Action, so I wonder if Eric Holder is going to sue us YET AGAIN!

We also passed a Constitution Amendment against The Health Care Mandates of ObamaCare.

So I’m sure we’ll get sue YET AGAIN!.

Bring it on Eric!

Jan 2009: President Obama listened to Republican gripes about his stimulus package during a meeting with congressional leaders Friday morning – but he also left no doubt about who’s in charge of these negotiations. “I won,” Obama noted matter-of-factly, according to sources familiar with the conversation.

Nov 2, 2010: YOU LOST! Now what? Elections do have Consequences!

****************

Here is an ironclad certainty: It’s too little too late for the antagonist-in-chief to paper over two years of relentless Democratic incivility and hate toward his domestic “enemies.” Voters have spoken: They’ve had enough. Enough of the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize winner’s rhetorical abuse. Enough of his feints at bipartisanship. Whatever the final tally, this week’s turnover in Congress is a GOP mandate for legislative pugilism, not peace. Voters have had enough of big government meddlers “getting things done.” They are sending fresh blood to the nation’s Capitol to get things undone.

Just two short years ago, Obama campaigned as the transcendent unifier. “Young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled, Americans have sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of red states and blue states,” he proclaimed. “We have been and always will be the United States of America.” It’s been an Us vs. Them freefall ever since.

“We don’t mind the Republicans joining us,” Obama taunted a few weeks ago. “They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”

As voters who have been maligned by the ruling majority as stupid, unwashed, racist, selfish and violent headed to the polls Tuesday, Democrats released “talking points” attacking Republican leaders who “are not willing to compromise.” But “no compromise” is exactly the message that un-American Americans delivered to Washington this campaign season:

No more compromising deals behind closed doors. No more compromising bailouts in times of manufactured crisis. No more compromising conservative principles for D.C. party elites. No more compromising the American economy for left-wing special interests. No more compromising transparency and ethics for bureaucratic self-preservation.

Let us be clear, in case it hasn’t fully sunk into the minds of Obama and the trash-talking Democrats yet: You can take your faux olive branch and shove it. Thank you. (Michelle Malkin)

Will the Democrats be humbled by having their head chopped off?

NO.

Expect the Senate to be the Liberal Firewall against the House’s Reform agenda.

Obstuctionism, in the Liberal’s view, is now in vogue. It’s no longer an excuse it’s a moral imperative to stop the vast right wing conspiracy against their Socialist greatness.

So Enjoy the victory, but it’s far from over!

We may have destroyed the Death Star, but the Empire is still building another one in secret to menace the people again. So we have much more work to do.

This was “The New Hope” so we still more to go before 2012 and the “Return of the People”.

The Empire is not going to go quietly.

The most liberal court in the land has struck again. The Ninth Circus Court of Liberal Appeals has

The most liberal court in the land has struck again. The Ninth Circus Court of Liberal Appeals has ruled that you’d don’t have to prove you’re a citizen to vote!

The very law they upheld and has been on the books for 6 years they tossed out the week before the election where liberals are going to get creamed.

Coincidence? Not with Liberals.

And this same circus is going to take up SB 1070 next week also.

Can you say the liberal fix is in!

And guess who’s helping them out, Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.

Anyone for revoking anything with her name on it?

The split decision by a three-judge panel determined that the requirement to show proof of citizenship — passed by voters in 2004 — is not consistent with the National Voter Registration Act.

Associate Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, temporarily sitting by designation, and Circuit Judge Sandra Ikuta, with chief judge Alex Kozinski dissenting, said Prop. 200 creates an additional hurdle, while the national act is intended to reduce “state-imposed obstacles” to registration.

The court did uphold Arizona’s photo ID requirement. So all the Illegals need is their fake IDs to vote for Democrats. Gee, that makes me feel so much better!

A three-judge panel of the court said the proof-of- citizenship requirement conflicted with the intent of the federal law aiming to increase voter registration by streamlining the process with a single form and removing state- imposed obstacles to registration.

The federal law requires applicants to “attest to their citizenship under penalty of perjury” without requiring documentary proof, the panel said.

“Proposition 200 creates an additional state hurdle to registration,” the judges said.

The law was challenged by voting rights and Hispanic advocacy groups.

The decision is “a warning to anyone who seeks to deter or prevent voter participation” that the Constitution “will protect our democratic process,” Thomas A. Saenz, president of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund, a San Antonio-based group that argued the case, said in a statement.

So I guess if you want to intimidate voters you’d better be black and liberal so Eric Holder & Co will not prosecute you or else!!

To protect the integrity of the democratic process we have to protect the illegal voters if they want to vote for Democrats.

So a State law that “supersedes” and “goes beyond” Federal Law is struck down. Gee, that argument sounds familiar somehow?

Perales (MALDEF Lawyer) compared Proposition 200 to the oft-called SB 1040, a controversial Arizona law that allows police to ask the immigration status of people stopped for other reasons, which critics call racial profiling.

“Basically, you have a state law superseding federal law,” she said of 1040. “Arizona is creating an independent scheme, whether it’s immigration or voter registration, in violation of known law.”(SA.com)

The dingbat liberals can’t even get their facts straight! It’s SB1070 you progressive liberal twit!!

“Once again, we have activist judges ignoring the rule of law and the voters, that is citizens, they apparently are ok with illegal votes or non-citizens voting. This absolutely flies in the face of common sense,” says Sen. Russell Pearce of Mesa the author of Proposition 200 in 2004.

“The Justice Department gave Proposition a thumbs up and found no conflict with the voting rights act. I also had 7 court rulings, including a 9th Circuit Court all upholding the law just 3 years ago. Judge O’Connor has also violated the canons about political activity when she did a robo call in Nevada on the Proposition to merit select of Judges, apparently another example of her lack of trust and respect of We The People.

So now, in the age of Obama and Eric “Social Justice” Holder we just toss out or legal precedent and go with what works for our ideology now.

Gee, that make me feel so much better about the courts.

“So what is the message from these judges? If an illegal alien is trying to register to vote, it is okay to ask them if they are a citizen, just don’t make them prove it. You have got to be kidding!” says Sen. Pearce.

Danny Ortega, a Phoenix attorney who helped challenge Proposition 200 on behalf of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund. “It will protect their right (the poor) to vote. That’s what this is all about.”

Where’s my Barf Bag!??

So do you think Eric Holder’s Social Justice Dept will use this against Arizona next week when they come after us again?

Oh, and On Dec. 8, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear appeals against Arizona’s 2007 employer-sanctions law, which prohibits employers from knowingly hiring undocumented workers.

Employer sanctions was something the President himself has advocated for,at least in public when it suited him politically. Not so much now.

Do you think this was coincidence?

Don’t you feel better now?

So by the end of the year Illegal Aliens could have more rights than you do.

Why More?

Because, if you try to stop them from doing anything illegal that benefits the Progressive Liberal Agenda the courts and the Social Justice Police will be there to STOP YOU.

You evil, disenfranchising racist you! How dare you want them to follow the law.

Shame on you!

Go to the Back of the bus!!

Of Imagery

Of inestimable value to me, both as a source of pure enjoyment and as a considerable fount of spirit

Of inestimable value to me, both as a source of pure enjoyment and as a considerable fount of spiritual and practical enlightenment, has been my lifelong close association with ministers of the Gospel. With preachers. With gifted preachers. With preachers so moved by the Holy Ghost that a snippet of scripture, once only cold, dry markings, illuminates into such revelation that in the strike of a gleaming moment Truth is unveiled. Imagery. Imagery of such clarity as are raven words on glinting screen, and more so, for somehow the story is told, and its back-story is understood, the precept, the principle.

-

Now while I admit to these certain advantages, I’m quite convinced it does not require living around preachers to understand and appreciate imagery and its power. Thus, I was shocked to hear the recent words of President Obama when on Monday he delivered the following at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, R.I. According to the Associated Press he said,

-

“…Now that progress has been made, we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”

-

It is shocking that President Obama, our first African-American president, would make such an obvious reference to that dismal period of our history when black people were required to sit in the back of the bus. It is shameful. It is regrettable. It is a slap in the face of Rosa Parks, who that December day in 1955 changed the course of American history. When told to move to the back of the bus, she said in essence, “Not today.”

-

We need leaders of other ilk than that recently demonstrated. We need leaders who will rise above pettiness and smallness. We need leaders in every branch of government and in every party who will forever cast aside the garments of racism and all its disgracefulness and malignant thought. We NEED LEADERS. We need eagles.

-

Eagles have always been representative of high calibre leaders. They don’t flock like geese but rather fly solo. While this may rob them of the ability to draft from each other, it provides them with some crucial advantages that are essential for vision development, maintenance, and casting. Here are two:

One, an eagle and a turkey react very differently to the threat of a storm. A turkey runs under the barn, hoping the storm won’t come near. The eagle, on the other hand, leaves the security of its nest and spreads its wings to ride the air currents of the approaching storm, knowing they will carry it higher than it could soar on its own.

Two, when an eagle is attacked by a pack of crows it doesn’t fight back. All it does is simply fly higher and higher, knowing that pretty soon the crows won’t be able to fly any higher. The eagle plays smart rather than lose its sensibility in the mindless games of small-thinking crows.

Herman Najoli

Of imagery. Of eagles and crows. Of buses and cars. The back. Of Rosa Parks, resolute and unflinching. Of courageous and soaring leadership.

Obama on Monday said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticize

Obama on Monday said Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, “we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”

This would be the same car that is back on the road alright, it has a whole in the gas tank, the fuel system is running rich from spending, the steering wheel veers violently to the Left, the muffler has a hole in it and is dragging on the ground. The windows are broken, the transmission needs an overhaul, and the tires are flat because of Tax in the road.

And now We have to all be Rosa Parks and demand our sit at the front of the bus and piss off and shame our oppressors, The Democrats into “fairness” and our “civil rights”.

WE ARE ALL ROSA PARKS!

“Whenever you make an important decision when you are mad, there is an 80 percent chance you will make the wrong decision,”

Only if our Democrat slave masters who want us at the back of the bus remain in power!

“Every Republican in the country wants this to be a referendum on your being mad, or disappointed or frustrated. Well, there’s plenty to be mad about, plenty to be anxious about,” Clinton said. “But an election is an employment decision. It is not a referendum. It’s a choice.”–Bill Clinton

My Choice is that I’m Mad as Hell am I’m not going to take it anymore!!

Democrats, You’re Fired!

But what do I know I’m just a “racist” “stupid”,”ignorant” “teabagger”.

Modern Democrat Election Rule #1: We have no morals or ethics and will do anything or say anything to win.

We Liberals are so vastly superior we deserve to win regardless of what we do or how we do it. Period.

The end justifies the means. And the end is where we retain the absolute power over you absolutely.

Rule#2: Everything else makes since once you understand rule #1

There are no other rules.

Understand this about the modern Liberal Democrat Party and you know why they must be defeated in 6 days and defeated for evermore.

Simple as that.

And then we just have to work on the Republicans.

So be ever vigilant, for they are out to get you.

I was feeling walled in, so I went Walden and wandered off the usual roads today.

What did I find?

A foggy golf course, barb wire fences protecting nature, a squirrel, a garbage dump, a bunch of farms, and a few junker businesses.

I was Thoreauly surprised.

note: this bus was the most interesting thing I saw … but it was all interesting really … but I kept my composture.

double note: I had to get in the “LADIES” door. The “GENTLEMEN“‘s door is at the front, but partially hidden.

triple note: Did I mention that I saw a squirrel? oh … okay.

.

Last night history was made. Fifty-two percent of the voters in the State of California have voted

Last night history was made. Fifty-two percent of the voters in the State of California have voted to legalize discrimination against a whole segment of our population. A segment of which, I am a part. I’ll be honest. I’m truly surprised at how I’m affected by this. I didn’t think it’d be so hard on me. In my heart I knew this would happen and yet seeing it has really hurt me.

I hoped and prayed (yes, prayed!) that Proposition 8 would fail and that the people of California would recognize that marriage equality should stand. That they’d understand that two men being married or two women being married, would have no effect on the “sanctity” of their own marriage, despite their own marriages 50% or greater chance of ending in divorce. But, I felt it, in my heart, or in my spirit, or in the force, or whatever you want to call it, I felt it and I knew that Prop 8 would pass. So I should have been prepared for it and not be so hurt by it.

This is my third post regarding this subject since last night and in the first two I took the high road. It was a short trip! I’m done with that. So if you prefer the high road, you may want to stop reading this post now.

THIS IS BULL SHIT!!! All you hateful, fearful people out there who voted in favor of proposition 8 are shits! Every one of you. You should, each and every one of you, be forced to wear a scarlet Y on your chests (if it were up to me it’d be branded on your foreheads, but I’d settle for the scarlet Y) so that everyone else can identify you and then you should all be EQUALLY mistreated.

You should be forced to drink from a separate drinking fountain, to ride in the back of the bus. You should not be allowed to sit at the lunch counter and you should have to stand silently off to the side with your hat in your hands and your head down. Your children should be taken away from you and your marriages should be annulled!

Am I over reacting? Maybe. But what’s the difference? I am not a “flaming queen”. To most people, if you and I stood next to each other, the thought that I might like to pack fudge, or smoke pole, wouldn’t even come to mind. To me, that’s just one simple way of pointing out that you and I are the same! So why should you be entitled to a different set of rights than I?

You may believe that what I do is wrong. You know what? That’s OK. I’ve got plenty of people in my life who feel the same way. One of them even gave birth to me. You don’t have to approve of my lifestyle, or what you perceive to be my choices, but that doesn’t give you the right to determine what I should and should not be allowed to do. Do you not know that you are violating the very moral precepts that you are claiming to uphold? The Bible tells you to hate the sin, but love the sinner. The Bible tells you to “judge not, lest ye be judged.” The Bible tells you to “do unto others as you would have them do unto you.”

And if the Bible isn’t enough for you, how about the principles upon which this country was founded. Our Founding Fathers specifically set up this country with Separation of Church and State in mind. They came here from a country who’s religion dictated the government and how people were treated and they wanted to escape it. Separation of Church and State means that your religious views should not have an impact on our laws. I wouldn’t even mind if churches were allowed to refuse to marry a gay couple because it violates their moral belief system… Oh wait, THEY ARE.

Anyway you slice it I only hear you telling me that God doesn’t approve of what I do therefor the governments job is to make sure I can’t do it. THAT’S WRONG! On many levels, that’s wrong, but I’ll address it just from church and state. The religious view may be that I’m a sinner, and that I’m going to hell. I don’t believe that, as I, too, am a Christian, but I respect your right to believe it. But unlike you, I’m not trying to take away your right to believe it. My right to marry, however, is not different from yours on a legal front. And trust me. Your marriage is on two fronts. You may be married in the eyes of the church. You may have had your wedding in a church, or at least a religious ceremony, but you are also married in the eyes of the law, separately from the church. That’s what your marriage license is all about.

So what’s the harm in my having a legal marriage? What’s the harm in my planning a lavish wedding ceremony (not to be held in your church)? What’s the harm in my making a considerable contribution to the states flailing economy by having my wedding in California and spending all my wedding money here in this state? You have your wedding in your church with your religious piety and I’ll have my wedding in a park or in a back yard or in the little gay bar on the prairie for all I care, but it should still be a LEGAL MARRIAGE.

You know, I will admit that I’m a little surprised by my vitriol on the subject and the way in which it’s been expressed thus far. The truth is, I’m far less angry than I am hurt. Cut so deeply, shaken to my very core. You see, I’m 33 years old. I’m what I call “newly gay”. I’m technically still a “gay virgin”. I don’t have any relationship prospects. Shit I don’t even have any gay friends. I’m completely alone and usually feeling pretty sorry for myself because of it. And I honestly doubt that I will ever have an opportunity to be impacted directly by whether or not Gay Marriage is actually legal. That would require me to have relationships and to find a man I want to share my life with. Probably not an easy task. And while, I’m sure most people will say that I’m taking this too personally, or just plain wrong, I can’t help but feel like this decision is a personal affront.

You see, for most of my life I convinced myself that I believed that gay is wrong. I convinced myself that I wasn’t gay. I convinced myself that there were other, perfectly logical, and morally acceptable, reasons why i felt the way I did. It has taken a lot of prayer, and research, and self exploration and meditation and work to reach a point where I no longer believe that gay is wrong. I no longer am in denial of the things that I know are true about myself, and I no longer HATE MYSELF for feeling the way I do. And yet in spite of all that, it doesn’t take much to shake my resolve. It doesn’t take much for me to question myself. And I’ll admit that a big part of the Prop 8 battle, for me, was the idea and the hope that just maybe, in a very public, enormous way, society at large would tell me, “Hey. We believe in you. We agree with you. You’re OK, just the way you are.” Lord knows I need to hear that last part, over and over again.

So there you have it. I knew, before the first returns came in that Prop 8 was going to pass. I hated it, and I hate (just a little bit) the people that voted for it, but I knew it. I guess I’m not really angry that it passed. I’m not really angry that so many ignorant people out there don’t understand why it was wrong, even if they think it is “moral”.

I’m angry because for the bazillionth time in my life, I’m being reminded, slapped up side the head with the proof that, I must not be OK. And It hurts.

Well, I’ve never been much of a fan of Ms. Brazille’s politics…but she’s spot on on this one. I’m working on a post that will talk about the fear among (amongst?) a certain group of White people that the (half) Black man will become presiden, McCain’s rallies have turned into Klan rallies damn near. But Brazille did a good job here of explaining why the hate is so unfounded and how she refuses to tolerate such foolishness.

Bravo Ms. brazille.

Bravo.

Thanks Doc.
