 The email below is from PT. Inamco Varia Jasa informing me that they are ILLEGALLY seizing my passport … it is against the Law for a private company to seize anyone’s passport.
Great bunch of guys to work with … I think NOT!

In December of 2006, the Singapore based management consulting company I work for signed a contract to provide Project Management services in Indonesia.  I required KITAS so I could undertake the contracted services. The company entered into a contract with PT Inamco Varia Jasa to provide a KITAS.

During the course of the year, the company fell in arrears with PT Inamco primarily because the invoices due us from our customer were paid late or only partially paid. Now I think that anyone with half a brain can understand that if we are not getting our invoices paid, we might not be able to pay our invoices. 

All I asked was to be able to return to Singapore because I had to renew my passport which was set to expire.  Well that was my mistake because they decided that would be a prime opportunity to exploit me.

You see, PT Inamco has an unusual approach to accounts receivable collection. They act more like a group of LOAN SHARKS who go around bashing people up to punish them for not paying on time. Rather than try to reach an amicable settlement, PT Inamco’s approach to accounts receivable was to go after ME on a personal level.  PT Inamco took my income away from me because they seized my passport and attempted to destroy both my personal and professional life.  PT Inamco engaged in the following tactics:

PT Inamco provided false and misleading information regarding the validity of my work permit to the company I was working for. In March PT Inamco emailed that my KITAS was valid through April, when in fact it had already expired. If I had continued working, I would have been working illegally in Indonesia.Had the Police conducted a check I would have been arrested and sent to jail.And I’m pretty sure that PT Inamco was planning to contact Immigration and report me, but I had the brains to get out of dodge first!

PT Inamco then ILLEGALLY seized and held my passport. PT Inamco obtained my passport through deception and I had to cancel all of my travel plans and stay against my will. I lost approximately 12 weeks of work and therefore income. They REPEATEDLY LIED about this once I told them I would report them to the Indonesian authorities and the Embassy in Jakarta.  But I still have the email from Rina A. Sukartawidjaja their President and Director stating they were going “withhold my passport”. If my passport had expired. I would have been declared a “Stateless Person” with no rights or protections under the laws of any country in the world.

PT Inamco engaged in a propaganda campaign against me to cover up the fact that they ILLEGALLY STOLE my passport and held me against my will.  I stared this blog because PT Inamco has their staff send emails every day to anyone and everyone they can.  One person told me they are trying to “ASSASSINATE MY CHARACTER” and prevent me from finishing my contract. Another senior manager from the company told me that he feels “HARASSED” by PT Inamco because of the volume of emails he receives every day.

This THUGGISH behavior has resulted in a substantial loss of income.

Because of their actions, PT Inamco has more than offset the amount we ever owed them
