I am well aware that I have been a horrible blogger lately and I promise to make it up to you.  Soon.  It’s just that there was the honeymoon and then the nasty cough decided to come back for round 2.  And those are my current excuses for today.  Please don’t stop reading, okay?  I promise to write more!

Time to wrap up the honeymoon with one last post about Bali.  So here goes… As I eluded to above, somewhere between Siem Reap and Bali my immune system went on the fritz again.  It started with a little cough, then some sniffles and poof! there goes all my energy.  Here’s the good news: Bali was a great place to be sick.  I even had a view from the bed.  I’d go take in some clean air, then hit the bed again for a nap.  Of the 5 days in Bali, the first 2 I functioned and the last 3 I was villa-bound.  Lucky for us we could get all our meals delivered straight to the villa!

Since I mentioned the villa, we’ll start there.  And what a villa it was!  This was definitely a honeymoon-worthy splurge and oh how we enjoyed it!  We stayed in a Terrace Villa Suite at the Viceroy Bali in Ubud.  With only 11 villas in the resort, the place felt like it was all ours.  We had worked with the hotel to craft a 5 night package for us.  It included a bottle of champagne, a flower bath, 2 hours of couple’s spa treatment, a 6 course degustation menu and round-trip transfers.

It far surpassed our expectations.  We loved the luxury boutique feel of the resort and the on-demand nature of the staff.  If we showed up in the lobby and asked to be driven to town, a car would be there in 5 minutes.  The answer was always yes, no matter what the request!  And every staff member knew our names and what activities we had scheduled for that day (not sure Nick liked that part as much as me).

Our favorite part of the villa was the terrace area.  We had our own private plunge pool (a first for us) and a fabulous Bale hut to relax in.  Nick pretty much just rotated between swimming and napping in the Bale.  I was more content to lounge on the edge of the pool, sipping my endless Diet Coke (the two-a-day rule goes out the door on vacation) and read books on the Kindle.  This was a definite stretch for me — laying around is not in my nature.  Luckily, it’s one of Nick’s best skills and he’s helping me ease into it.

When I think back on it, we really only did 4 different things in Bali.  We hung out in the villa 70% of the time, ventured into Ubud on 3 different occasions, had a fancy Thanksgiving Dinner at the resort’s restaurant and did a 2 hour white water rafting trip down the Ayung River.  Doesn’t sound like much when I write it out like that, but it proved to be a good way to unwind after the long days in Siem Reap.

I was a bit nervous to try out rafting since it had been 16 years since my last attempt.  The river proved to be fairly mild though…only class 2 and 3 rapids.  Enough to get your heart racing but not enough to bring on panic attacks.  One of our favorite parts of the rafting experience was jumping out of the boat and floating down a calm part of the river.  The water felt so good!  The waterfall was stunning too.  Definitely a must-do experience if you’re in Bali!  We used Sobek Adventures and they were absolute pros.

I’ll leave you with a few pictures from our Thanksgiving dinner.  Our 6 courses were: Bread, an amuse bouche, scallops, soup, foie gras, tenderloin and chocolate lava cake (plus a 2nd honeymoon dessert).  Not quite what I’m used to but oh so good.  I had a ridiculous-size portion of foie gras (pictured below)!  Honestly, the steak paled in comparison.  And no one warned me to save room for 2 desserts!  Oh well, you’re supposed to feel sick after a Thanksgiving meal, right?

ainsi que plusieurs ateliers:

• un service d’impression,
• un atelier d’informatique,
• un revendeur de meubles,
• des atelier d’artisans,
• un bureau postal
• et même un atelier de réparation de guitares!

Tirou da água as mãos e as levou ao rosto pálido, cheio de maquiagem. Colocou-as de volta na água e repetiu o gesto, tantas e tantas vezes. “Vênus”, uma moça chamou da porta. A moça que lavava o rosto virou-se e olhou para ela. Era baixa, atarracada, as mãos gordas e o rosto ruim, azedo. “Sim?”, Vênus respondeu cheia de sorrisos, as mãos ainda trêmulas e mergulhadas na água, o rosto num pálido dividido entre o líquido, o pó de arroz e sua pele leitosa. Parada por alguns segundos, pensou em que desgraças carregava aquela senhora, que andava sempre pelos corredores do prédio com a mesma expressão vaga e triste no rosto. Secou as mãos na toalha, e levou o rosto até ela, secando e tirando de vez a maquiagem. Era ainda mais pálida que o pó. Talvez ele lhe deixasse mais morena do que branca. “Vamos abrir as cortinas em um minuto”, a mulher informou e Vênus assentiu com a cabeça, o sorriso ainda com ela. A outra se foi, fechando a porta onde uma estrela ficava. Era dourada. No centro da estrela lia-se o nome da bailarina que lá dentro estava. Ela, Vênus, sentou-se na cadeira e olhou o espelho. Os olhos nos próprios olhos, aquelas mãos tremendo até agora. Estava nervosa, como ficava todos os dias antes de ir para o palco, antes de ir para frente de todas aquelas pessoas. Olhou para baixo, os pés doíam e estavam tão trêmulos quanto as mãos. Pensou. Doía até mesmo pensar, dada a dor de cabeça que sentia. Riu. O nervosismo lhe confundia os nervos e cruzava as emoções. Tinha finalmente chegado. A semana que vem era a hora de ir a um musical no maior teatro da Inglaterra. O dinheiro seria suficiente para pagar todas as contas, seria os suficiente para resolver todos os problemas. Todos os problemas? Riu de novo. Meu Deus, todos os problemas? Buscou problemas consigo mesma, tentou dar-se problemas para se preocupar. Não achou. Tinham? Se tinham, ela sabia? Não saber era ainda pior do que tê-los. A não ciência de suas deficiências, que outrora tanto lhe ajudou, agora lhe corroía as aflições e tornava suas extremidades ainda mais trêmulas, ainda mais nervosas. Precisava saber e não sabia onde buscar o conhecimento a respeito.
“Vênus!”, a voz veio quebrando o silêncio. Essa era de um homem: alta, esganiçada. A menina se levantou no mesmo instante, os olhos pregados na porta que se abriu com estrondo. “Onde você ‘tava?”, ele perguntou se aproximando dela. As mãos dela começaram a tremer mais ainda, seu rosto se contorceu em medo e seus pés descalços foram um, dois, três passos para trás. “Aqui”, ela respondeu passiva, encolhida, quieta. Ela que sempre se garria para ele, que sempre se aprontava de enfeites e fazia pra ele o que ele queria que fosse feito. Ela que sempre doava o que era e o que não era decente para ele poder pegar. “Aqui?”, ele repetiu. Agora a voz baixa e calma. Lívido, continuou: “Aqui, sua vagabunda?” Tinha os olhos presos nela, sem medo de encará-la embora ela estivesse morrendo de medo de continuar a olhar naqueles olhos. Olhou para baixo, suas mãos batiam contra a coxa de tanto que tremiam. Ele bateu na cara dela. Vênus foi ao chão. “E por que você estava aqui, que mal lhe pergunte?”, ele quis saber com os olhos tão juntos das feições dela que até incomodaria qualquer um que estivesse vendo.
Na porta chegaram, e debruçaram-se contra o batente, outras meninas. Algumas com os rostos em deboche, contorcidos e estúpidos, como se pedissem para ele bater mais em Vênus. Muitos motivos tinham para desejar o pior para ela: algumas pelo fato dela ser a mais importante de todas as bailarinas dalí, outras porque era ela quem ganhava o nome nos cartazes, nos programas de rádio. Mas a maioria delas, dessas que debochavam, tinham inveja de estar alí, apanhando de Paulo. Queriam que antes fossem elas lá, atiradas ao chão, levando as porradas porque não estiveram onde deveriam estar. Queriam elas serem a frágil, a deficiente, a que era tão, mas tão importante para o espetáculo que chegava a apanhar se não comparecesse a ele. Queriam, mas não eram. Algumas outras olhavam com compaixão, como se quisessem poder fazê-lo parar. Não podiam, contudo. Mulher, menina, homem, velho nenhum alí dentro tinha a coragem de olhar Paulo nos olhos. Ele era extremamente alto, esguio, de voz aguda e olhos muito fundos, lembrando um par de copos velhos e escuros. Sua pose não era máscula — tampouco seus parceiros — mas não havia dentro daquele prédio alguém tão macho, tão homem quanto Paulo. “Levanta, porra”, ele mandou. Vênus obedeceu no mesmo instante, o rosto tão imponente quanto derrotado. Como tinha classe, e como a classe colocava todas as outras bailarinas no chão. Aquela capacidade de encantar os olhso de qualquer um que Vênus tinha era o que mais incomodava as outras. “Isso vai acontecer de novo, Vênus?”, Paulo perguntou começando a andar até a porta. “Vai”, ela respondeu. O homem não ficou surpreso, não pareceu afrontado. Se era aquilo que ela dizia que aconteceria, não havia nada que ele pudesse fazer. O que ele podia fazer, que era mandá-la para a porta da rua, seria o mesmo que fechar as portas e dizer que não fariam mais espetáculos. É complicado explicar o quão brilhante Vênus era.

Avec Christian Bale (The Dark Knight), Sam Worthington (prochainement dans Avatar et Le Choc des Titans), Anton Yelchin (Star Trek version 2009), Bryce Dallas Howard (Spiderman 3, Le Village), Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter et le Prince de sang-mêlé)…

Synopsis: 2003. Tandis que le Jugement Dernier se rapprochait dangereusement, un condamné à mort du nom de Marcus Wright accepte de donner son corps à la science… 2018. Comme chacun le sait, le Jugement Dernier s’est produit, au grand dam de John Connor, leader prophétique de la Résistance, qui avait tout fait pour l’empêcher. Mais c’était seulement retardable… Le programme autonome de défense militaire de l’armée, Skynet, avait pris les commandes et s’employait à éradiquer sa plus grande menace: l’humanité tout entière. Ce jour du Jugement Dernier, la moitié de l’espèce humaine a été rasée par des attaques nucléaires. L’autre moitié s’est depuis organisée pour lui résister. Mais ce n’est pas le futur contre lequel Sarah Connor, la mère de John, avait mis en garde… Il n’est pas le leader incontesté, bien qu’il reste un sauveur aux yeux de nombreux résistants. De plus, la Résistance ne peut pas gagner cette guerre si ça continue ainsi. Mais une découverte pourra peut-être tous les sauver…

La saga Terminator, initiée par James Cameron, voit ici son quatrième épisode voir le jour. Point de départ d’une nouvelle trilogie, elle prend le relais après un troisième opus très sympathique mais en-deçà de ses prédécesseurs, considérés encore aujourd’hui comme des piliers du film de science-fiction. Mais que vaut cette Renaissance ?

Il est vrai qu’on pouvait s’inquiéter quant au projet, quand on voit qui le réalise… McG n’avait réalisé que deux longs-métrages plutôt quelconques, ce qui n’était pas tout à fait rassurant. Eh bien force est de reconnaitre que le bonhomme a une très bonne maitrise de la technique. Il sait manier la caméra, et pas qu’un peu, puisqu’il ouvre l’ère 2018 avec deux plans-séquences dantesques et parfaitement contrôlés ! On remarquera les effets spéciaux amplement réussis, avec des Terminator au poil et un bon matte-painting global (on fera une minute pour feu Stan Winston, le génial marionnettiste décédé durant le tournage…). ILM ne déroge pas à sa réputation de maître des FX… Côté interprétation des acteurs, c’est du bon boulot, hormis quelques hics. Premièrement, bien qu’ils s’en sortent très bien tous les deux,  j’aurais plus vu Bale interpréter le rôle de Worthington et inversement. Deuxièmement, j’ai pas trop aimé qu’on ait donné le rôle de Katerine Brewster-Connor à Bryce Dallas Howard, trop gentille pour un rôle de femme déterminée qu’on avait vue dans Terminator 3 (à ce titre, j’aurais bien revu Claire Danes…). En revanche, Anton Yelchin est vraiment une très bonne surprise, et sa ressemblance avec un personnage vu dans le premier Terminator (normal, vous comprendrez…) devrait interpeler pas mal d’entre vous… A ce titre, on appréciera les nombreux clins d’oeil faits à la première trilogie (dommage que ça ne va pas plus loin). Le scénario, bien qu’un peu faiblard et prévisible par moments, reste sympa. L’ambiance générale lorgne vers les Mad Max, ce qui peut paraitre peu fidèle à la vision Cameronique du futur. Mais comme déjà dit, ce futur n’est pas exactement le même… En bref, un très bon divertissement, mais qui reste un peu creux dans son scénario et qui n’apporte pas grand chose à l’univers.

-Réalisation: nul besoin de disserter là-dessus: techniquement parlant, McG assure ! 5/5

-Scénario: creux, mais bourré de clins d’oeil, action explosive mais l’univers n’est pas plus étoffé. 2,5/5

-Performances dramatiques: bon jeu d’acteurs global (très bon Anton Yelchin), Bryce Dallas Howard a un rôle pas taillé pour elle, et Bale et Worthington auraient du échanger… 3/5

-Doublage vocale français: du bon boulot, mais manquant peut-être un peu d’audace. 3,5/5

-Musique et bruitages: bande-son en retrait dans les musiques, bruitages efficaces. 3/5

Note globale: 17/25, soit 13,6/20.

Le temps de quelques billet, je vous invite à la découverte de Bâle, une ville où les projets intéressants ne manquent pas.  Notre tour de la ville commence dans la banlieue Sud,  avec ce bâtiment commercial:

Enserré entre la route et les voies de chemin de fer, ce bâtiment est si étroit que on aurait de la peine à croire que quelqu’un puisse y habiter ou travailler.

On se rapproche un peu du bâtiment, et on découvre son étrange texture, qui le fait ressembler à un matelas ou à un canapé géant.

Le but de cette texture serait celui de mieux isoler le bâtiment et éviter toutes dispersions d’énergie, en accord avec les principes du développement durable. Quand même, on peut observer que façades et fenêtres ont mal vieilli, et montrent déjà des signes de détérioration.

et sur cette réflexion, on passe au prochain bâtiment.

J’ai raté cet anniv’. Suis tombé dessus grâce à un tweet de Larry Carlson dont la vidéo “Yell” (que voici, que voilà) a été reprise sur boingboing pour l’occase. Anne babaların çocuklarını küçük yaşlarda spora yönlendirirken yaşadığı “çocuğum için en uygun branş acaba hangisi” endişesine ve bu konuda yaşadığı sıkıntılara son verecek yeni bir merkez açılıyor.

Ankara’da faaliyete geçecek Junior Sports Academy (JAS), Türkiye’de ialk defa uygulanacak bir yöntemle, 4-14 yaş arası çocuklar için en uygun branşın hangisi olduğuna karar vermede ailelere rehberlik edecek. Çocukların, fiziksel özellikleri ve yetenekleri test edilerek en uygun oldukları branşlara yönlendirileceği merkezde 40 kişilik uzman eğitim kadrosu çocukların hizmetine sunulacak.

Konuyla ilgili AA muhabirinin görüştüğü JAS Koordinatörü Gamze Uz Müftüoğlu, Türkiye’de bir ilke imza atacaklarını belirterek, “6 yaşındaki kızımı o branştan bu branşa götürürken çektiğim sıkıntının ardından böyle bir fikir doğdu ve Yrd. Doç. Dr. Murat Bilge ile birlikte kolları sıvadık. Türkiye’de bu konuda ailelere rehberlik edecek hiçbir yer yok” dedi.

-ATLETİZM VE CİMNASTİK TEMEL BRANŞLAR-

Müftüoğlu, Ankara’nın Oran semtinde 2 bin metrekarelik alan üzerine kurulu ve yaklaşık 1 ay içinde faaliyete geçecek merkezde 40 kişilik uzman eğitim kadrolarıyla çocukların gelişimlerini izleyerek spora yönelik tüm ihtiyaçlarını karşılayacaklarını söyledi.

Basketbol, voleybol, hentbol, futbol, salon hokeyi, yüzme, cimnastik, atletizm, bale, modern dans, yoga, pilates, step, bale, tenis, badminton, masa tenisi, tırmanma duvarı, eğitsel oyun ve beceri kordinasyon dersleri, oriyantring ve booce branşlarında hizmet vereceklerini ifade eden Müftüoğlu, şöyle devam etti:

“Bunların yanı sıra bir de doğum günü atölyemiz olacak. Burada doğum günü olan çocuk hangi temayı seçerse atölye o temaya uygun hazırlanacak. Merkeze gelen çocuklar öncelikle teste tabi tutulacak. Fiziksel özellikleri ve yetenekli oldukları spor branşları belirlenecek. Atletizm ve cimnastik tüm çocuklara temel branş olarak mutlaka verilecek. Bunun yanında seçilen diğer branşlar uygulanacak.
Çocuklar o yaşlarda spor branşları konusunda çok çabuk fikir değiştiriyor. Bunun yanında branş seçiminde çocukların yetenekleri değil de ebeveynlerin idealleri öncelikli oluyor. Bu da bir çok yanlış seçimi beraberinde getiriyor.”

-ZİHİNSEL ENGELLİ VE OTİSTİK ÇOCUKLAR-

İleriki dönemlerde 0-4 yaş aralığı için de hizmet vereceklerini kaydeden Müftüoğlu, doktor, diyetisyen ve spor psikoloğunun da bulunduğu merkezlerinde zihinsel engelli ve otistik çocuklara yönelik programlarının da olduğunu belirtti.

Gamze Uz Müftüoğlu, her çocuğun egzersize ihtiyacı olduğuna dikkati çekerek, sözlerini şöyle tamamladı:

“Düzenli egzersiz yapma alışkanlığının erken yaşlarda kazanılması ve erişkin dönemde de sürdürülmesi sağlıklı yaşam açısından birçok kazanç sağlayacaktır. Çocuktaki yaratıcı gücün ortaya çıkması, temel gelişim alanlarının olumlu etkilenmesi, benlik saygısının gelişmesi ve sosyal beceri kazanmasını desteklemesi, işbirliği yapmayı ve paylaşmayı öğrenmesi, fiziksel gelişim üzerindeki olumlu etkisi bu kazanımlardan sadece bir kaçıdır.”

Şimdiden yoğun talep alan merkezde üyelikler 1, 3 ve 5 yıllık olmak üzere değişiyor. Çocuklar, haftanın 3 günü, günde 1,5 saat derslere katılacak. Dileyen anne babalar, çocuklarını merkezde bulunan Spinach Cafe’de otururken plazma televizyonlara yansıyan görüntülerden takip edebilecek. Ayrıca rutin test ve ölçümlerle izlenen çocukların gelişim raporları, belli zaman dilimlerinde ebeveynlere sunulacak.

O balé é uma arte ancorada na expressão corporal de seus atletas. No entanto, a carreira de bailarino ainda parece ser subestimada quando se trata de força física e masculinidade. Para provar o contrário a atividade tem, entre outros nomes, Marcelo Gomes, 29 anos, que é a personificação dos príncipes de contos de fadas, nos palcos de Nova York, como primeiro bailarino da companhia American Ballet Theatre (ABT).

Brasileiro nascido em Manaus (AM) e criado no Rio de Janeiro, Gomes, admirador das belas artes, deu seus primeiros passos em direção ao balé clássico aos oito anos de idade, mas sua paixão pela dança e pela música se confirmaram quando tinha cinco anos e se encantou pela dinâmica que envolvia os movimentos da aula de teatro musical na escola em que sua irmã desenvolvia uma atividade.

Helena Lobato foi sua primeira professora de balé e foi ela quem mostrou o que seria o futuro de Marcelo através de vídeos de grandes bailarinos. A partir disso ele decidiu concentrar-se somente no balé, deixando de lado outras atividades. Ainda hoje ele evita se envolver em atividades que possam prejudicá-lo fisicamente – jogar futebol nem pensar. Quando atingiu 12 anos participou do vídeo de uma das alunas de sua nova escola, Dalal Aschcar. Foi esse vídeo que chamou a atenção do Conservatório Harid para Gomes, escola que impulsionou seu desenvolvimento.

O conservatório está localizado na Flórida e assim que Marcelo Gomes completou a idade mínima de aceitação, 13 anos, se mudou para lá sozinho. Seus pais o ajudaram na transição e ao fim de uma semana ele ficou sob os cuidados da escola, morando nos dormitórios, estudando matérias como história da arte, história da dança, piano, canto para não citar outras. Com 16 anos, participou de uma competição em Lausanne, transmitida ao vivo pela Europa, e seu desempenho mereceu uma bolsa oferecida para estudar na Paris Opera Ballet durante um ano, o que foi a realização de um sonho.

Em Paris o jovem bailarino teve a oportunidade de aprender e incorporar novas técnicas ministradas por grandes nomes do balé internacional como Serge Golovin. Essa trajetória percorrida por Marcelo o transformou em primeiro bailarino de uma das Companhias mais famosas do mundo. Além disso, ganhou reconhecimento internacional e ser um dos poucos bailarinos com uma coreografia criada especialmente em sua homenagem – passos curtos – um título bastante sugestivo se considerar aonde chegou em tão pouco tempo.

Com seu desempenho de Romeu recebeu várias criticas positivas, principalmente do New York Times, por sua expressão e movimentos inspiradores que são essenciais para dar destaque ao conjunto do espetáculo ao lado de sua Julieta. Isso reflete em sua vida cotidiana: Marcelo Gomes demonstra ser um homem de grandes aspirações e um caráter humilde ao declarar sua admiração aos colegas da Companhia e reconhecer em si e nos outros as diferenças que os tornam importantes para os espetáculos. E quando o brasileiro visita a família não perde a chance de se apresentar e trazer espetáculos para o Teatro Municipal de Manaus.



O Balé Teatro Castro Alves (BTCA) volta a apresentar os cinco novos trabalhos criados pela companhia para a Mostra Coreográfica do Panorama 2009, que reúne cinco montagens de curta duração intituladas Pega-varetas, A Qualquer gosto, Odu, O Fundo das Coisas, Pirâmides. O espetáculo estará em cartaz na Sala do Coro, nos próximos dias 6, 7 e 8 (sexta a domingo) de novembro, às 20 horas, com ingressos a R$ 8(inteira) e R$4(meia).

I don’t understand a word of it either. What I do know is that whilst ‘The Emperor’ looked sharp tonight in a hold-up role. However he had plenty of chances to place his name on the scoresheet that went wanting. It’s a bit of a shame really, as the game itself was one of the best examples of a completely end to end football match that you’ll see this season. He had his chances but failed to really make an impact in the way that he would have wanted. For the most part I would give him another run out against Arsenal if possible in the last thirty minutes or so. If there is anything to endear yourself to the yid army it would be scoring the winning goal against the gooners in their back yard, (which of course happens to be ours aswell).

As for the returning kings; it’s safe to say that both Bale and especially Bentley have shown a few things to Harry that will keep him thinking. Bentley offered something different on the right in comparison to Lennon; namely a wide midfielder with a spot on delivery, a more mixed style of distribution and a defensive foil. Everything that was expected of him upon his arrival at the club. It’s fair to say that the lad is odds on to start against the scum at the weekend, and as such will strike fear into the heart of Almunia or Mannone or whoever they’re throwing in between the sticks these days.

Bale is someone I have always touted as an option for the left wing especially. This is mainly due to his defensive hesitance as an out and out left-back as he can put in a shift but only really looks comfortable when he is heading forwards with the ball. Tonight he looked at ease and very much in control of things on the left flank. Definitely looking forward to seeing more of the resurgent talent as a specific left sided midfield option; as well as more than adequate cover at left back.

Gomes again today offered more contradictory evidence for the critics; as though he was only tested intermittently, he made a few saves at very important phases in the match that could have turned the momentum of the match against us. What is important though is that he keeps his cool a bit in relation to his distribution; which would have been more fuel for the pundit’s fire; still think that the ridiculous saves he makes would perhaps go past Cudicini; but maybe he doesn’t inspire as much confidence at times as his italian counterpart.

Our overall performance was pleasing; though we did seem to have many problems in relation to making the most of our chances that were endemic in the weekend performance against Stoke. This is certainly something that we’ll need to work on for the rest of the season, as while it’s fair enough that we’re making many chances and winning games. We really have to learn to be more clinical otherwise in matches against the more challenging teams where we find ourselves bereft of chances. This is the difference between good and great sides; the really great sides always look lethal when they have opportunities whereas it’s safe to say at this stage we’re still missing the bite on the end of our bark.

Oh yeah; we won 2-0.

Ratings -

Gomes – 7.2 – The Octopus needs to sort out his distribution; but otherwise another on song performance from the lovable brazilian.

Assou Ekotto – 6.7 – Looked solid throughout the whole match, never really offered any troubling moments. A solid custodian.

Dawson – 6.6 – Made a few vital tackles and looked good; though perhaps needs a little bit more match practice to truly get back into the swing of things.

Bassong – 6.7 – Reliable and looking to offer Woody and Harry a few sleepless nights.

Hutton – 6.6 – I like the look of Hutton going forward; and he seems to be better and better at putting in the tackles where needed; not as reliable as Corluka defensively but much more threatening going forward.

Bale – 6.7- Seemed to get involved a lot with play and increased the pace of proceedings on the left. This deftness was vastly appreciated and his interplay with the centre mids set up some of the best moves of the match. Happy to see him on a winning side.

Huddlestone – 6.6 – Looked much better than he did against Stoke where he found the physicality was a bit too much for him. Some nice passes today and too his goal well; though may need to look at the weaknesses in his games a bit more.

Palacios – 7.3 – All about the show; and didn’t put a foot wrong the whole time. (Well except from one pass but I think we can forgive him for that). Indispensible.

Bentley – 7.4 – Much improved and offered far more variety on the right hand side than we’re used to. My main gripe with out game is that we find ourselves playing quite linearly with Lennon sometimes. Bentley has now opened his box of tricks. A performance against Arsenal could offer Aaron some food for thought.

Keane – 6.2 – Often looked slightly lost in play; though did find himself with a few chances to take. Won a penalty which solidified the result for us. Perhaps needs to sort his head out still, or perhaps dare I say, is just simply on the way out.

Pavlyuchenko – 6.1 – Good link up play and found himself in the position to take a load of chances on goal. None of which came to fruition unfortunately. Whilst there was a fair amount of pressure on the lad to step up today it can be said that Keane and Crouch will be the favourites to start against Arsenal on Saturday.

The clocks have gone back so a proper night match. Look out for the photos on Flickr after the game. A Carling Cup tie against the Toffees. Thankfully they are more shell shocked than us after two defeats in four days but with O’Hara on loan and players injured we may field a makeshift midfield in order to protect for the Arsenal game on Saturday.

We fancy Hutton to return, Dawson and Bassong and Assou-Ekotto to continue in the back four. Bentley and Bale on the flanks and Jenas and Tommy for the centre. Crouch and Pav will start up front and we hope for Gomes to continue between the posts.

A good side, possibly? We saw Bale start at left mid at Old Trafford and the boy had pace so why not allowing A-E to have a bit of rest at left back. We need Bentley to be interested and with Lennon’s knock on saturday what more reason could there be than a possible game at The Emirates on Saturday if he impresses. 

For Dawson and Bassong staying fit will be important for if Ledley fails to shift his illness and Woody does not get over the concussion they are in on Saturday. Daws was a giant on Saturday and I fancy Harry to give him the armband.

A couple of goals to get Stoke out of the system. You bet and with kids at £5 ewach it may be some youthful and high pitched chants during the evening.

Come on You Spurs there’s a chance of Wembley at the end of all this!
