The little abandoned ball of yarn was just screaming to be painted. I bought it ages ago, made some slippers out of it, and its sat neglected ever since. No longer! My little ball of yarn is now the star of tonight’s painting.

The real life ball of yarn is an army print ball, with green, brown and black all in the same ball. I used the same idea, though changed the colours to red, white, pink, and black, still showing progression from light to dark, but a little more cheery than the army print. Plus, I knew that I wanted the floor to be brown, and a brown ball of yarn on a brown background wouldn’t have been too dramatic.

I used a painting knife to lay on the paint. I wanted to create this dramatic, messy look, like the ball had been being kicked around for a couple of years. The effect came out nicely enough.

I came downstairs last night and found a yellow spiderweb covering the floor of the basement. It traversed the length of the room at least seven times, frequently zigzagging behind desks, under chairs, through doorways and between furniture. There’s about 300 feet of yarn strewn across the room.

The culprit? I’ll tell you her aliases: shittydumbhead, poopstain, poopbreath, pooper, shithead, stinky.

It’s not an ordinary ball of yarn. It’s a special  ball of yarn, made of mohair by women in Africa. It has little ribbons and string woven into it. It’s very expensive.

I have made a scarf out of one ball, for my son’s girlfriend. The ball of mohair I lost was for my son’s scarf.

They will be here next Sunday morning. I’m going crazy trying to find this ball of yarn. The store will not open until Tuesday, which will put my knitting behind many days before Christmas.

I am bumming out severely!

Bathroom is not done, and now I am missing a ball of yarn!
