Il y’a 4 ans, Zinedine ZIDANE était expulsé du terrain en pleine finale de la coupe du monde. Sa réaction avait provoqué une véritable polémique : quel genre de modèle peut être une star du football qui ne respecte pas les règles et, par-dessus tout, ne regrette pas son écart de conduite ? Depuis la situation s’est apaisée et Zizou est resté l’icône qu’il a toujours été. Toutefois, l’équipe de France a remis le couvert hier soir avec cette « heureuse » main de Thierry Henry. Certes la France a gagné ; mais qu’en est il de la bataille de l’image de marque ?

En effet, à travers une équipe de football nationale, c’est une partie de la réputation d’un pays qui se joue. Par exemple, les Irlandais sont réputés pour leur esprit combatif qu’on retrouve dans de nombreuses disciplines (rugby, football, …). Avec le coup de tête de Zidane et la main de Henry, c’est à une réputation douteuse que s’accroche à la France. D’autant plus que les résultats précédents ne permettent pas de justifier un écart de conduite (ce qui était en parti le cas pour l’affaire Zidane). Imaginez l’incidence sur le comportement des supporters ? Des adversaires ? Des instances organisatrices comme la FIFA ?

Il en est de même dans les entreprises. Imaginez qu’un de vos salariés réalise des ventes avec des marges exorbitantes sur un de vos clients, et cela à son insu. Problème, le dit client se rend compte de « l’arnaque » lors d’une discussion avec un autre client de votre entreprise. Pour autant, le salarié impliqué dans l’affaire ne tente pas de corriger le tir. C’est la réputation de l’entreprise qui est alors en jeux. Les fournisseurs vont se méfier de vous : si vous faites cela aux clients, pourquoi pas aux autres. Les clients vont tous vérifier leurs contrats, tenter de renégocier les tarifs, et vont surtout véhiculer l’information comme quoi les méthodes de l’entreprise sont douteuses. Les partenaires vont peu à peu se désengager dans les relations d’affaires avec l’entreprise pour ne pas être associé à une mauvaise image de marque.

En effet, les actions de chacun, que ce soit de la production à la direction en passant par les vendeurs, ont une influence sur la réputation de l’entreprise auprès de l’ensemble des parties prenantes de l’entreprise.

In previous posts I shared some tips about travelling to Turkey. This is the third and last of this series and I will be talking about Pamukkale and Cappadocia.

Let’s start with Pamukkale.  Pamukkale or the “cotton castle” in Turkish, is located in the Denizli Province. This is an incredible place that combines a unique natural beauty with an archeological site. I think the picture speaks for itself:

Pamukkale is also considered as a World Heritage Site by Unesco. You can learn more about it in this video.

A day trip is enough to visit Pamukkale. Tip: Don’t miss the sunset view from the top of the mountain.

From Pamukkale we got a bus to Cappadocia. After a 12 hours journey, we arrived at my favorite place in Turkey.

Cappadocia is a region located in central Turkey, famous for its unique geology. Have a look!

The rocks were formed by deposits of ancient volcanoes and the wind gave them this distinctive shape. To visit this amazing region you should book at least two days. I also would recommend you staying in Goreme.

In Goreme you can stay in a cave hotel and visit the Goreme Open Air Museum which has more than 30 rock-carved churches and chapels, some with beautiful byzantine frescoes.

Besides the Open Air Museum, you should visit the Ihlara Valley, the Pigeon Valley and the underground city. You can easily find day trip excursions from Goreme to these sites.

However, for me the highlight in Cappadocia is the balloon flight. This was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had.  There are several good balloon companies that offer this service from April until October. I strongly recommend you booking in advance. The crew picks you up before dawn and drives you to the takeoff site. During the one hour tour you will have an unforgettable view of the sun rising in the Cappadocia region.

This is another example of some people’s selfishness, and the lenghths they will go to have fame and supposed fortune. The poor kids are really the victims here. Can you just imagine the ridicule they will have to endure? What a great example these 2 nit-wit parents are providing their children. These 2 butt-wipes need to be whipped and beaten. Wait, I have a better idea: send these 2 twits up in a ballon with no way to get down !! I would pay good money for that ! Then they could put cameras in the ballon so that we could watch them scramble around trying to get down, and listen to them bitch at each other. That would really be a good show, and the punishment would then fit the crime !

Im zweiten Teil lernen wir Will kennen, der sich um seine kranke Mutter sorgt und seinen Vater nie gekannt hat. Als sie von Männern verfolgt werden, die etwas in ihrem Haus suchen, bringt Will seine Mutter in Sicherheit, findet den gesuchten Gegenstand und beschließt, seinen Vater zu suchen. Dabei gelangt er in eine andere Welt, in der er auch auf Lyra trifft. Die beiden freunden sich an und bestehen gemeinsam ein weiteres, spannendes Abenteuer, in dessen Verlauf Will auf das Magische Messer trifft…
Außerdem wird die Geschichte von Lee Scoresby erzählt, der alles tut, um Lyra zu helfen. Ebenso wie die Hexen, die diesmal besser in die Geschichte passen. Auch Mrs. Coulter taucht wieder auf, noch gerissener als zuvor…

Dieses Buch ist ebenso spannend geschrieben wie der erste Teil, dennoch wirkt es auf mich ein wenig “gezwungen” – als müsste einfach erzählt werden, was es mit dem Magischen Messer auf sich hat und die Geschichte drum herum wird nur nebenbei erzählt. Es läuft also alles auf den dritten Band hinaus, auf den großen Krieg, in dem über die Zukunft aller Welten entschieden wird.

A man in a hot air balloon, realizing he was lost, reduced altitude
and spotted a woman below. He descended further and shouted to the lady
“Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would meet him
an hour ago, but I don’t know where I am”

The woman below replied, “You’re in a hot air balloon, hovering
approximately 30 feet above the ground. You’re between 40 and 41
degrees north latitude and between 59 and 60 degrees west longitude.”

“You must be in I.T.,” said the balloonist.

“Actually I am,” replied the woman, “How did you know?”

“Well,” answered the balloonist, “Everything you have told me is
technically correct, but I’ve no idea what to make of your
information and the fact is I’m still lost. Frankly, you’ve not been much help
at all. If anything, you’ve delayed my trip.”

The woman below responded, “You must be in Management.”

“I am,” replied the balloonist, “but how did you know?”

“Well,” said the woman, “you don’t know where you are or where
you’re going. You have risen to where you are due to a large quantity of
hot air. You made a promise, which you’ve no idea how to keep, and you
expect people beneath you to solve your problems. The fact is you

They should have found out what “community organizing” really meant. They should have connected the dots from Saul Alinsky to ACORN to Obama.
They should have noticed the scandalous amount of money Obama funneled to ACORN during the campaign. They should have noticed the unprecedented voter registration fraud during the election.
They should have noticed a whole lot of things which revealed a controlling and destructive profile; but they were blinded by their own predetermined idea that Obama was the perfect candidate.

Ik ben een heliumballon, daar ben ik net achter gekomen. Je weet wel, zo’n ballon met helium erin en een kaartje eraan. Die ballonnen die onder luid gejuich losgelaten worden en waarvan de helft niet verder dan de eerste drie bomen komt. Misschien heb je ooit weleens een prijs gewonnen met die ballonnenwedstrijden, ik niet, ik had denk ik iets harder moeten bidden. Mijn ballon bleef altijd in de eerste de beste boom hangen, hij kwam vaak niet eens verder dan de straat waar ik hem losgelaten had. Eën keer ging mijn ballon wel ver, of nou ja, verder. Uiteindelijk bleef hij niet in de eerste, maar in de vierde boom hangen – er zit dus in ieder geval vooruitgang in. Maar goed, nu heb ik nog steeds niet uitgelegd waarom ik een heliumballon ben.

Eigenlijk zou ik de beste christen moeten zijn die op deze aarde rondloopt. Ik heb de ultieme combinatie persoonskenmerken van de belangrijkste personages, veel Bijbelser dan deze puber zul je dus niet worden. Al jouw geploeter is zinloos, want niemand is zo Schriftgetrouw als ik. Ik heb het ongeloof van Thomas, de arrogantie van Jozef, de domheid van Simson en de schoonheid van Paulus. Ik heb de bakkus van Petrus, de grootheidswaanzin van Salomo en het stiekeme van Jakob. Ik heb een vleugje van Judas verraad en ik denk dat ik met Sara’s enorme vertrouwen in Gods beloften (dus niet!) ook niet missta. Voeg daaraan toe de jaloezie van Mirjam en de ongehoorzaamheid van Jona en je hebt de meest Bijbelse figuur ooit – Dick Timmer.

Als je nog niet opgestegen bent, zal ik je vertellen waarom ik nou eigenlijk een heliumballon ben. Mijn heliumballon bleef altijd in de eerste boom hangen, maar de meeste ballonnen schopten het iets verder dan die van mij. Het leuke aan die ballonnen met die kaartjes is niet alleen de prijs die je ermee kunt winnen, maar ook waar ze vandaan worden teruggestuurd! In de wedstrijdjes waar ik aan meedeed kwamen er ballonnen uit Duitsland en Groningen. Een andere keer kwamen er zelfs ballonnen vanuit Limburg en België! Die ballonnen werden echt overal vandaan teruggestuurd, terug naar de plek waar ze vandaan kwamen. Ik vraag me af of ik als ik zo’n ballon zou vinden de moeite zou nemen die terug te sturen, die mensen in ieder geval wel.

Ik voel me eigenlijk best wel zo’n heliumballon, vooral als ik me weer eens gedragen heb als arrogante Jozef en een heel eind bij onze Vader vandaan ben. Maar weet je wat ik zo bijzonder vind? Dat er altijd mensen zijn die de moeite nemen om me terug te sturen, en daarom ben ik een heliumballon! In mijn geloofsleven blijf ik nooit in de eerste boom hangen, dan was ik niet eens zo heel ver bij God vandaan geweest, nee, ik heb het gevoel dat ik altijd het verste kom van iedereen. Maar elke keer weer, wat ik ook heb gedaan, altijd is er iemand die me wil helpen om terug te gaan en mijn geloofsballon terugstuurt naar God. Misschien ben jij soms ook wel een heliumballon. Misschien heb jij soms ook het gevoel dat je overal heen zweeft. Ik hoop dat ik jou dan mag vinden en terugsturen!
