Suomesta mansikkateetä ei hirveästi saa, tai en ainakaan itse ole siihen törmännyt. Poikkeuksena joku kesätee, jossa on käytetty mansikanpaloja (olikohan nimeltään Suvitee), ja Lipton Sun Tean Mansikka (jota en varmaankaan ole maistanut, mutta jolta en odota hirvittävän suuria). Marjateet ovat aika hit&miss-kamaa: ongelmana on yleensä niiden ylimakeus. Valitettavasti Sun Tea -lajitelmapakkaus vain koukuttaa minut, samoin saman firman sitruunatee. Musta tee -fiksin saadakseen makeus menee. Nautiskeluun en niitä suosi.

70-luvun jumbokupista nautittuna

Otetaan ensin se baltianmaalainen tee. Kertoisin siitä mielelläni muutakin kuin että kyseessä on musta tee ja mansikanmakuinen sellainen. Mutta venäjä, unkari, tai muut kryptisillä kirjoitusmerkeillä varustetut kielet eivät ole vahvinta alaani. Olkoon, mustaa teetä se kuitenkin on (sen sanan onnistuin selvittämään). Kiehautettuun veteen haudutettuna noin 5 minuuttia ja maustettuna sokerilla, tämä on kahdesta mansikkateestäni enemmän mieleeni. Se ei ole liian makeaa, ja jos malttaa antaa veden jäähtyä vähän ennen hauduttamista, tee on erittäin hyvää. Eniten siitä tulee mieleen mansikkamehu – ilman sokeria se toki olisi kitkerämpää. Maitoa en suosittele tähän käytettäväksi, joskaan en ole sitä edes kokeillut.

Rakas Jimmy-kuppi

Sitten espanjalainen ystävämme. Tästäkin kertoisin mielelläni paljon enemmän, mutta olen ilmeisesti laittanut jo kyseisen teen paketin roskikseen, joten en pysty sanomaan varmaksi onko kyseessä musta tee vai mahdollisesti vain mansikasta tehtyä yrttiteetä. Lähden kuitenkin oletuksesta, että se on mustaa teetä. Yritin googletella merkkiä “Hacendado” (joka tarkoittaa ilmeisesti haciendan omistajaa), mutta en törmännyt kyseisen firman sivuihin. Mutta espanjakaan ei vahvin kieleni ole, joten sekin hidastaa tutkimista. Samat haudutusajat ja makeutukset tällekin. Muistin, että kyseinen tee on ihanaa, mutta baltialaisen kilpailijan jälkeen espanjalainen oli liian makea ja muistutti itsetehdystä mansikkahillosta (joka, huolimatta jääkaappini sisällöstä, ei ole mitään suurinta herkkuani). Makean ja kitkerän yhdistelmä toimii Fazerin Missä X -karkeissa – teeheni en sitä halua. Onneksi tätä teetä on enää pari pussia jäljellä, ne tulee varmaan juotua (tai lahjoitettua eteenpäin muille teenautiskelijoille). Myös baltialaista on useampi pussi jäljellä, joten kiinnostuneet saavat kyllä halutessaan maistella niitä.

Kahden kupillisen jälkeen ei mieleni tee mansikkateetä vähään aikaan.

Could they be close to flight??

According to the Baltia Yahoo! forum they have met the last of DOT’s requirements, which was a financial fitness evaluation. I verified this information at the goverment’s documents site (click here).

More interestingly, the document reveals that Baltia plans to operate at least one round-trip flight per week to St. Petersburg and they have financing for a year’s worth of up to 5 flights per week. Assuming they can fill those flights and make a profit, this is HUGE insight.

Most of the operating expenses are backed and guaranteed by personal lines of credit of Baltia’s board. I like that a lot better than a company who’s board is disinterested and/or not personally liable. This puts the Baltia board in a make or break position. A couple of them will even lose their homes if this doesn’t work out. That’s more risk than I’m betting!

Also, they are outsourcing/leasing their aircraft, so equipment purchase and maintenance expenses will fall on third party operators. This will reduce expenses and increase profits when Baltia gets airborne. Let’s hope that happens soon.

They are staying positive about FAA approval and have even announced plans for an upcoming innaugural flight (however there’s no date set). Cool blog though. Seems like it will help me keep up with what’s going on over there.

If this FAA approval ever does happen, Baltia is gonna make me a nice profit.

What else has been happening? Not much. The U.S. economy is in horrible condition. Of course I posted that it was crashing before Wall Street realized it and I prepared my portfolio, so I’m good. Just annoyed that we’re on hold while the world economy adjusts itself. At least they’ve started arresting the assholes that dreamed up this subprime idiocy (see Bear Stearns).

Now I’m just riding out the storm, doing a little buying of my favorite stocks as they hit bottoms (like CBTE), and waiting for a recovery. Analysts estimate that will happen in late 2009. So I guess my portfolio play is on hold awhile. Glad I don’t run a hedge fund! haha

Google Alerts notifies you by email when a new page about your search is found by their web crawlers. So, if you set an alert for a stock, and someone blogs about the stock, you will get an alert. It can notify you daily, weekly or as the pages are found.

Pretty handy when you want to keep up with the news for all the stocks in your portfolio. As you can see in the picture below, I set up an alert for Baltia Air so I’ll know when that stock is getting ready to move. Now that I have a Google Alert for the stock, I’ll know immediately when the FAA approves their charter.

To set up an alert, you’ll need a free Google account. If you are web savvy at all, you probably already have a Google account for AdWords or Google Docs. If you don’t have one, the site will ask you to create one your first time around.

The ad goes to a site called MarketWatchGuru. First of all I have no idea what that picture of a couple kissing in their kitchen has to do with the next hot penny stock, and the click count is fake (just in case anyone needs a naughty tricks for improving their ad click rate).

I hate these ads, especially when I get them in my email, but for the sake of fun, and following the theme of my blog, I thought I’d check it out. Plus its nearly a hundred degrees here in Thailand which is too hot for legitimate work.

Okay, Baltia Air Lines (BLTA.OB). Being a webmaster one of the first things I always do is go to the company’s website (which is Baltia.com). Right on the splash page it says this:

The New Way To Europe. Baltia is a US startup airline. No ticket sales are currently available. This service is subject to receipt of government operating authority.

They are the “new way to Europe” but they don’t have any revenue. I checked their destinations and they are all in the former Soviet Union – St. Petersburg, Minsk, Kiev, Riga, and Moscow. That’s not Europe, but its pretty good considering Russia’s newfound wealth. Their concept is to be the only non-stop carrier flying into Russia. Round-trip from JFK (in New York) to St. Petersburg will be an 8-hour flight (if you ignore delays associated with flying into Russian airspace).

I couldn’t figure out if they even have airplanes, but they do have reported financials. The last couple quarters have seen a dramatic increase in spending in anticipation of flight, and no revenue – ever. Still, financials don’t matter in stock trading, just press.

Okay, what’s the ETA on them flying?

According to StockWire they’ve “been trying to get off the ground for 17 years.” They had FAA approval once before but couldn’t get the financing to make it happen. The guys on that board now say the airline has private financing, will have FAA re-approval shortly, and they expect the stock price (now at $.083) to shoot up to $2/$3 in late Spring 2008 when they start booking flights. There’s lots of DD and background info on that StockWire page – well worth reading.

I also went over to AllStocks, another board I always check when doing penny research, and those guys like this stock too.

I did find all of Baltia’s FAA filings at Regulations.gov, which was updated as recently as 2 weeks ago. This seems to mean the FAA approval process is still moving along and they are submitting forms as requested.

Its mid-Spring, and the stock is supposedly going to climb within a month or two. So the gamble is whether this airline will book some flights before they run out of financing. They’ve rented terminal space at JFK, so all this stock needs to take off is FAA approval. I guess the big question is, will they meet the same fate twice?
