Bought some new books from Amazon.ca for a really good deal.  They shipped them on Nov 17 and got them on the 20th.  I was really happy how quickly they arrived.  Was wait for Charley Boorman’s new book to come out, By Any Means 2.  Was looking to see when it came out and they had it on sale for $16.38.   So I could not pass that up.  To get free shipping you have to send over $39.  So I all so order Enemies & Allies: A Novel (Hardcover) which was all so on sale.  That didn’t add up to $39 so I ended up ordering a book my mother want as well.

Ich hab keine Ahnung, warum, aber in letzter Zeit beschäftige ich mich immer wieder mit Grundsätze des christlichen Glaubens. Ich frage mich auch, wieso z.B. die Mutter eines Kollegen an Lungenkrebs, ausgelöst durch Asbest sterben so sterben muss. Ich sehe sie selten, aber wenn ich sie sehe, sehe ich, wie sie durch die Chemotherapie geschwächt ist.

Ich habe schon oft persönlich erlebt, dass Gott durch Leid viele Leute erreichen konnte. In einem Sommer starb der Bruder eines anderen Kollegen, beim Schwimmen. Er bekam beim Schwimmen einfach einen Krampf. Aber was nach seinem Tot die Familie bewegte, war krass. Denn dieser Bruder, der erst 18 war, wurde ungefähr zwei Wochen vorher getauft, und zwei Wochen, nach dem er sein Zeichen für Jesus gegeben hat, starb er. Seine Familie, kam danach eine Zeit lang auch nicht um die Fragen: “Warum er? Warum gerade jetzt?” herum, aber dadurch wurde langfristig ihr Glaube massiv gestärkt, so dass der Vater auch wieder Gott suchte.

Aber auch International kommt viele aus Not und Leid hervor. So wurden durch ein Erdbeben am 26. Dezember 2003 um 5:26 Lokalzeit nach offiziellen Angaben 30`000, nach Angaben aus der Bevölkerung jedoch 60`000 Menschen getötet. Das Problem lag an der Bauweise, man hat Mauern aus Backsteinen gebaut, und als Boden für den nächsthöher gelegenen Stock eine Betonplatte verwendet. Beim Erdbeben, das nur zehn bis fünfzehn Sekunden gedauert hat, brachen ein sehr grosser Teil dieser Häuser zusammen…
Nun leben nur noch 100`000 Menschen da. Durch das Erdbeben, wurden aber internationale Rettungsmannschaften in den Iran eingelassen, die in den ersten zwei Tagen 25`000 Tote bergen Konten.

Aber durch dieses Erdbeben, ergab sich die Möglichkeit, christliche Missionare nach Bam zu schicken. Dies wurde auch gemacht. Seit Anfangs 2004 habe sich da nun zahlreiche Untergrundkirchen gebildet und die bestehenden Kirchen haben ein starkes Wachstum erlebt. Das einzige Problem was die Christen im Iran haben, ist, dass da keine Religionsfreiheit herrscht. Dies bedeutet, dass man verfolgt wird, wenn bekannt wird, dass man zum Christentum konvertiert ist.

Als ich vor ein paar Wochen einem Missionsleiter, der unter anderem für Bam zuständig ist, zuhören durfte, wie die Christen im Iran mit der Entscheidung für das Christentum (und dafür sehr oft die Familie verlassen müssen) umgehen, war ich erstaunt. Denn dies ist keineswegs mit dem ChristSein in der Schweiz, Deutschland oder Österreich vergleichbar…

Was mich immer wieder bewegt, ist, wie wir nicht einfach wie Kinder in Gott vertrauen können. Kinder vertrauen einfach auf ihren “grossen, starken Vater”, der sie sicher beschützt. Durch diese Erlebnisse kann ich auch folgenden Vers verstehen:

Jesaja 55.8

Denn meine Gedanken sind nicht eure Gedanken, und eure Wege sind nicht meine Wege, spricht der HERR.

Is it me or does it seem that hip hop fans have become more of a casual fan and not so much a lover of it?  Do we only care about the gossip and who’s “going at who”?  Or better yet, do we only care about today??  Meaning, do we only care about what’s on the radio or in the club this weekend??

I challenge you to get out of your comfort zone if you really love hip hop and music as a whole for that matter.  If you love Drake and Wayne, go buy UGK.  And after you get that UGK, go purchase the first Geto Boys.  If you love Em, you need to get Eazy Does It and the Power album.  Not to leave anyone out, but if you love Jay or 50, you really should have Kane and BDP in your collection.

If you know me even a little, then you probably know that I tend to think….think a lot.  Sometimes to the point where it gets in the way and puts up walls (not a good thing) and stops things from going from my head to my heart.  The last few days I got all caught up in the thinking.  The heady, here’s what experience tells me.  I “know” the truth, but I couldn’t shake the all over the board emotions ranging from confused to frustrated to happy to disappointed to sad to lonely to okay to everything else.  I bounced around and couldn’t find my footing on the solid rock.

Until today. I sat in class and I tried to pay attention and engage in conversation, but every once in a while my thoughts would overwhelm me still.  Until I heard these words, “Follow Me.”  Funny thing is that we were talking about ministering to youth and I really don’t remember how that fit in and neither does my roomie (I asked her later).  So then, God immediately brought to mind the verse below:

“…what is that to you?  You follow Me!”

My reaction: Whoa. Lord, you are so here.  You are so getting my attention.  Because really.  What is it to me that ___ is doing this or that God is working in that way in their lives.  Even, who is that to me and what is that to you that I’m working in a way you didn’t expect.  When all I need to focus on is following Him then everything else fades away.  Africa fades away. Lindo fades away. Thrive fades away. Hope House kids fade away. Marriage fades away.

Yes, good things and yes, serving is good, but He just wants me to “be.”  He loves me when I’m just sitting on the floor with Him leaning against my bed.  He wants me to follow Him and be with Him.  He wants to step out only on His firm foundation.

Można rzecz jasna snuć też bez końca opowieści o tym co nas nie dotyczy. Co było tylko przypadkową pomyłką, obcą naleciałością, podczas gdy tożsamość zbudowana jest na zupełnie czymś innym. Można zmienić nazwy, wyburzyć budynki, zamienić jedne pomniki na inne. Być może to i lepiej, czytaj: łatwiej. Dostawszy wreszcie do rąk własnych książkę Orlando Figes’a Szepty. Życie w Stalinowskiej Rosji i czytając ją w podróży, z przerażeniem myślałam co mogło nas dotyczyć, gdyby nie ten nieznośny polski schizofreniczny niepokorny charakter. A potem myślałam, że właściwie nie wiem. Ja – właścicielka w latach szkolnych Słownika Wiedzy Obywatelskiej i uczestniczka konkursu Wiedza Umacnia Przyjaźń, na którym recytowałam posłusznie ile kilomterów ma Bajkalsko-Amurskaja Magistrala i wymieniałam z pamięci republiki ZSRR, ja nie wiem tego nadal, moje ja nie wie, gdzie, we mnie czy obok mnie, stał Dom Partii.

O tym, że większość odcinka dalekowschodniego tejże Magistrali została zbudowana w latach 1944-1946 przez więźniów gułagów, głównie niemieckich i japońskich jeńców wojennych, których w trakcie budowy zmarło około 150000 (Wikipedia), recytując jak należy liczby i daty w tamtych czasach rzecz jasna nie miałam zielonego pojęcia.
