Idag har min fina mamma&pappa varit på besök!

Vi har ätit lunch på Koppatkitteln här nere på “byn”, jag åt fläskfilé och pommes frites och sen banana split till dessert, och sen åkte vi tillbaka till skolan och jag visade dom vårat andaktsrum, hemklassrum och mitt rum på internatet såklart. Nu har dom nyss åkt hem och det känns väldigt tomt… Men nu ska jag mysa ner mig med LA Ink och popcorn!

The MRT Purple is getting terrible.  Not the trains; they are excellent.  Rather, the stations are becoming stiffling for the soul.  They promote promiscuity.  In the Araneta Center Cubao station where I go in the morning, there is a stand for the TRUST condoms.     When I got off the Katipunan station, all the hallway pillars are covered with larger-than-life upper body pictures of Angelica Panganiban in bra.  She is holding a green apple which the advertisers want to subliminally instill the temptation of Eve: the fruit of knowledge of good and evil.  This Bar commercial should be barred.  It is time to pass the Anti-Obscenity and Pornography Act of 2008.

I admire Angelica Panganiban as an actress.  I saw her before playing Becky in Princess Sarah.   But as the years went I saw movie posters of her playing “adult” roles as an another woman, for example.  Princess Sarah, Camille Pratts, I heard also tried to recast herself as a sexy star.  Too sad.  Two wholesome faces turned sexy starlets.  O how have you fallen from the heavens o morning stars, daughters of the dawn!  I wish they will play more wholesome roles.  Banana Split is not wholesome; it has many sexual undertones.  NNNN (Ntertainment News Na Naman) is better: Angelica spoofs Kris Aquino so well that I am now beginning to think that Kris is spoofing Angelica so well.  Oh, well.

Let us pray for our movie stars that they may truly be stars who lead edifying lives.  Is there a patron saint for movie stars?  Pope John Paul II was once a stage actor in Poland.  If he becomes a saint, then we can call him the patron saint of actors and actresses.

Cheeseburger Lowcarb

En regnig kväll blev jag sugen på riktigt god snabbmat. Köpte nymald nötfärs och jumboägg på Tansas. Regnet öste ner när jag handlat klart, så det blev buss hem i rusningstrafiken.

Jag var både trött och blöt när jag kom hem, då är den här typen av mat fint att ta till. Snabbt, enkelt och mycket gott.

Ostburgare LCHF

250 gr Nötfärs

Havssalt och nymald Vitpeppar

Eski Kasar eller Gräddost

Blanda färs och kryddor. Forma till två biffar, platta till lite så går de fort att steka.

Dressing

1½ dl Ekologisk Majonnäs

1 msk Heinz Ketchup

1 tsk Fransk Senap

Svartpeppar

Blanda allt till dressingen, låt stå och dra en stund, så kommer smaken fram mer.

Bryn 2 msk Smör och stek hamburgarna några minuter på varje sida. Stek 2 Ägg och lägg på några skivor ost som får smälta ner över hamburgarna. Servera med Sallad, Tomat, Cornichons och dressingen.

Banana Split with Chocolate sauce

En Amerikansk hamburgermeny avslutas ju ofta med milkshake eller glass. Min Banana Split blev betydligt nyttigare.

Visst är det en del kolhydrater i en banan, men den höjer inte blodsockret mycket i samband med en sådan här måltid.

Banana Split

1 liten Banan

2 dl vispad Grädde

Chokladsås

2 msk Kakao av bra kvalitet

3 msk Vatten

1 tsk Pinjehonung

Lite Havssalt

1 msk Smör

Koka upp allt utom smöret under vispning. Låt puttra några minuter på svag värme, rör under tiden så det inte bränner vid. Ta från värmen och rör ner smöret. Låt kallna.

Skär bananen i små bitar och varva med grädde och chokladsås i en liten kopp.

they have the all-time favorite banana split, which they call goin bananas as their version, and other so good fruity flavors to choose from.
their selling price is quite higher than the other local brands, but it’s still reasonable because of its chilling tastes that will drain off the heat in your body.

the store interior is very fruity and sweet to look, because of the pastel colors painted on the walls that represents the flavors of their ice cream.
they also offers other snacks such as burgers and sandwiches.

I like healthy foods, thanks to my parents for raising us right. I really enjoy a nice all veggie meal with a salad and maybe some bread. Or my Dad’s soups… they are incredible. I love when it starts to get cold and the soup pot gets used a few times a week. Yumm… Anyways, despite my enjoyment of healthy stuff, I also love a good  junk food splurge.

Something to the likes of a giant burger with all the toppings… cheese, onion rings, mustard, pickles, tomato, no mayo…. oh yeah.

Or a really large banana split with extra hot fudge.

Pizza… hands down best food ever. God definitely created that before the fall cause there is no wrong in it.

Chocolate cake with hot fudge oozing out of the middle. Oh shoot, now I am getting hungry.

Fresh cookies… I have 2 favorite kinds chocolate chip with extra chunks of chocolate and peanut butter cookies with 3 M&Ms &on top.

Comfort food… homemade mac and cheese, or meatloaf (My Dad’s is the best)

Nachos with melted cheese, and salsa, sour cream, guacamole, peppers, meat, onion, and everything else.

Root Beer Float

Any holiday food… turkey, ham, potato casserole, pumpkin pie, sweet tea, green bean casserole, anything with cheese on it, stuffing, banana pudding, 7 layer cookies, pralines, traditional Christmas sugar cookies, monkey bread, coffee…

This whole train of thought started when I had a really good burger the other day. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings with my roommate (who is a vegetarian) where there is only meat. I got the Jack Daddy Burger with the regular patty, pulled pork BBQ, tomato, onion, onion rings, cheese, and honey BBQ sauce. It was so messy I tried to eat it as fast as I could to keep it from getting all over me. It was really enough food for 2 meals. Oh and fries came with it. I think I am still full from it.

Coffee has essentially zero calories. The way to make it not the best for you is to get the specialty drinks with all the milk and sugar in them. However, if you are like me and drink drop coffee with just half and half then you are set. Drink away! I think my coffee preference is one of the ways I justify my junk food cravings, at least I don’t get a ton of junk from coffee.

One of my best friends and I always tried to make cookies in college. But we were somehow lacking the ability to bake. One time someone, ahem not me, put a tablespoon of salt instead of a teaspoon… yes that makes a HUGE difference. There was always something wrong with us. So now we buy the pre-mixed dough; its harder to mess up.

The cookies are making me think of pazookies (I think thats what they are called?) that my teammates introduced me to in San Jose, delish.

So what are your favorite junk foods? Anyone?

I believe I am actually a pretty good cook, with the exception of when one friend and I try to make cookies. So don’t be afraid of my food if I do cook please. I make a mean pot of chili and a nice chicken pot pie. Steak. Fried Chicken. Fried Green Tomatoes. Bean Soup. Veggie Soup. Black Bean Soup. Tacos. Chicken Pesto Pasta. Breakfast… I love cooking breakfast. Ok done. Enjoy being hungry! hahaha

My birthday today (Aug. 27) had a crazy start, but it turned out okay.

From 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., I was revising my article on a quarry blasting in Ringwood based on my editors’ suggestions. However, one of them said that it would be okay for me to take more time on the article by doing more in-depth research. She said it’d be okay to postpone the article for the Wednesday, Sept. 2 issue.

I was feeling the stress in trying to turn this article in on time. But once I put my job behind me and decided to enjoy my birthday and vacation, it was rather nice. My boyfriend and I went to the Dautaj Restaurant in Warwick, N.Y. while my daughter had a play date with my boyfriend’s co-worker’s daughters. At the restaurant, I had a grilled salmon saturated with Dijon sauce for lunch. We had fun, they had fun. Afterwards, we went back to my boyfriend’s house and I took a nap. I needed it, since I stayed up until 5 a.m. this morning watching nostalgic cartoons from my childhood on YouTube.

I woke up at around 5 p.m. And later today, my daughter and I are going to get ice cream. I want a banana split from Dairy Queen, which I’ve been longing for. Yum!

Le banana split, dit la légende, fut inventé près de Pittsburgh en 1904, par un jeune pharmacien répondant au  nom pétaradant de David ‘Doc’ Strickler. Avec sa banane -coupée en deux, je vous l’accorde- ses boules de chaque côté et ses injections de chantilly, voila un dessert lourd…de sens, à ne pas mettre entre toutes les mains.  Pour un contemporain de Sigmund l’autrichien, c’était fort.

D’un autre côté, Sigmund lui-même fut souvent photographié un cigare à la main. Même à la Maison Blanche, on les fumait sous les bureaux, hein, Monica?

L’été est rude pour les règles de bienséance. C’est sur le trottoir que çà se passe. Je croyais le sud de la France particulièrement affecté, avant d’arriver aux Etats Unis. La différence, je pense, est l’innocence totale avec laquelle les atteintes  aux bonnes moeurs sont perpétrées ici. Je passe sur les épouvantables minijupes ou shorts portés sur tous les gabarits, à tous les âges… accompagnées des inévitables tongs, que l’on nomme fort à propos “flip flops” en anglais, sans doute une référence à la démarche de canard fainéant qu’elles confèrent…. Ce qui me perturbe réellement, ce sont les glaces.

Il y a des plaisirs qu’ils vaut mieux circoncire, euh, circonscrire à la sphère privée.  Reconnaissez qu’enfourner en public un cône glacé puis lui faire subir les derniers outrages devant tout le monde n’est pas dépourvu de certains frissons, dont la température de la friandise n’est pas responsable. Un cône, deux boules, voilà réellement un plaisir qui ne se savoure pas  avec une élégance décontractée devant témoins.

Quelle ne fut pas ma surprise, ce midi, prenant une petite pause sur le parvis devant nos bureaux, de voir arriver un couple muni d’une gâterie  qui, dans notre pays, ferait pouffer de rire la population. La petite coupe carrée en gaufrette est surmontée d’une crème glacée (ice cream pour les franchement ignares) dont la forme n’admet aucune équivoque. Voilà les tourtereaux qui s’installent à la table d’à côté, sous mes yeux ébahis, et entreprennent, chacun pour soi, concentrés sur l’ouvrage, de taquiner l’oblong iceberg avec la langue. Je regarde autour de moi, sonde le regard de ma collègue. Personne ne semble perturbé par le spectacle.  Je décide de garder pour moi mes émotions, mais trouve très difficile de me concentrer sur notre innocente conversation.

La femme, surtout, me fascine. Elle regarde sa friandise avec les yeux de l’amour. La tourne, la retourne. Sa tension monte, c’est visible. Et toc, un coup de langue. Elle change de côté, ajuste la langue, et toc…Christine et moi passerons 10 minutes  à deviser sans dévier sur notre weekend, nos amis, notre promenade de samedi, alors que deux chaises plus loin se déroule une scène dont la lente obscénité résultera en une castration inéluctable, perpétrée à coups de langue par une femme  au zèle impitoyable, qui se renversera enfin sur sa chaise en métal, l’air repus, l’oeil torve, le ventre apaisé.  Alors, heureuse?

Je respire. En France, j’aurais pu rire de la scène avec mon interlocutrice, proférer des grossieretés jubilatoires, bref, me soulager. Ici, une seule mention ironique sur la signification peu subliminale des faits se heurterait à l’incompréhension choquée de mon entourage.  C’est un ajustement permanent.

Les américains sont polis et chaleureux avec autrui. Il faut le savoir.  ”Have a good one!”  dit on à Pittsburgh en prenant congé de quelqu’un. Mot à mot : ”Prenez-vous en une bonne!”. De journée, pardi. On a l’esprit vraiment mal tourné dans notre pays… Pour preuve, le banana split. A Cassis, près de Marseille, un restaurant a longtemps mis sur la carte un dessert américain à la banane, servi aux dames sans cuiller, à manger à la main exclusivement. Rebaptisé “Rêve de Jeune Fille”.

I personally don’t believe on having a bestfriend of the opposite sex. When a guy friend introduce me to someone and claim her bestfriend, my intrapersonal thinking says it’s another bullshit. For me, it just can’t happen without some other reason aside friendship or a shoulder-to-lean-on or someone to share emo-ish thoughts and life’s drama. There’s got to be something beyond.

Ok. So it is singular and whom one share the strongest possible kind of friendship. If we refer to a person of the same sex, then it can be the bestfriend we all know but if we refer to person of the opposite, then I can say the level of friendship differs.

It’s not like I am against those things. Because I am thinking my parents started that way. Started as friends turned bestfriends turned lovers. Well, I think that would be good if both parties would end up liking each other. But what if not? If one fell in love and the other did not? It is more likely breaking the bond of friendship and closeness, set a barrier, and turn back to reality of what they should only be, “FRIENDS or NOT FRIENDS” nothing more and nothing less. It’s either the two of you sit on both ends of the boat or if not, the boat will sink.

If you intent to love her at the first place, then might as well take the right door for the right reason and don’t take the door being the bestfriend and make your way inside to be her lover. Chances are if you got rejected, you can get out of it and take the door to be just friends. It is better that way than losing everything.
