Nike SB (Skateboarding) blessed professional skater Omar Salazar with his own Nike Blazer SB. The shoe features a black quilted leather upper paired with a white Swoosh and midsole. Ink blue laces and a matching heel tab with “OMAR SALAZAR” stitched in with white stitching provides contrast. For right now, it appears as if Omar Salazar’s Nike SB Blazer sample will be exclusive to him, but we’ll keep you posted on any fresh details

A few years ago the people at Nike SB look to have sampled this Nike SB Blazer for one of their SB riders, Omar Salazar, who will actually be launching his own signature shoe with Nike SB in the Spring 2010 season. This SB Blazer that was never released has a striking resemblance to the Nike SB x Supreme Blazer’s that were released in extremely limited quantities worldwide a number of years ago. The upper features the same quilted leather as the Supreme Blazer only the colorway is a bit different. The outsole and shoelaces are Carolina Blue while the shoe’s tongue has an Omar Space logo and the heel has Omar Salazar’s full name written on the back. The only place you can find these now is on

About 6 months ago, Kimou Meyer, aka. GROTESK was given the opportunity by Nike to create his own Sports team. Over the years GROTESK has shown Madd skillz in his ability of creativeness in the arts. This Swiss graphic artist who lives in Brooklyn, has developed a passion for Folk art, street photography, vintage sport graphics old school hip hop and urban anthropology.  That is why Nike gave him the opportunity to drop this new “Pipe Dream Team” gear. He was the artist that best fit the qualifications.

Can’t believe I missed this, but Gorillaz finally released the documentary Bananaz. It’s over a year old and chronicles the many aspects of the band from 2000-06. I haven’t been able to find any torrents for it, so I can’t say whether it’s good or not. But, if you feel like getting it the old fashioned way and have an extra 30+ bucks lying around, Amazon’s got ya covered. Hopefully I’ll get around to seeing it soon so I can tell ya’ll about it. I’m sure it’s bananaz.

King Kong, así lleva por título el tercer material de la banda electrónica que dio origen al pop virtual, Gorillaz.

En su primer álbum le dedicaron una canción al director, actor, productor y guionista Clint Eastwood. En el siguiente trabajo una de las canciones tenía el nombre de Dirty Harry, y muchos dicen que estaba inspirado en una noche de discoteca. Ahora, en su último trabajo, decidieron inspirarse en la bestia, icono mundial de Hollywood, King Kong. Así que Clint ha sido sustituido por el enrome mono.

Según Jamie Hewlett, uno de los integrantes de la banda, el disco saldrá a finales de este año e incluirá una opera como Monkey, Journey to the West y dará una visión radical a todos los personajes.

No sólo viene un disco nuevo, la banda inglesa llegará a las salas de cine con el film Bananaz. Según el sello discográfico Emi, “será una película documental que derriba los muros virtuales de Gorillaz, desvelando una narración íntima, sincera y a menudo cómica de las relaciones de trabajo entre sus creadores, Damon Albarn y Jamie Hewlett”.

It’s a documentary about how Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett came to create the Gorillaz; an hour and a half of my life well spent.

Bananaz is a film that takes you behind the scenes of the ultra secretive cartoon band Gorillaz, created by artist Jamie Hewlett & musician Damon Albarn. Ceri Levy followed the bad for over 7yrs watching them record, play and engage with their cartoon alter egos. He captures the band right through their creative madness stages, gets their opinion on the state of modern music and lots more juicy info about what inspired them all to create this phenomenal virtual band.

The film takes us from the studio recordings and on to the road. Its an honest, brilliant and hilarious movie charting their rise to success.  If you ever saw Levy’s1993 documentary Starshaped, which covered the rise of Blur, you know he has a style of getting under the skin of bands to bring you the reality behind it.

The Gorillaz have been on of my favorite bands since I was first introduced to them in junior high.  Honestly, when I first heard that there was a new cartoon band, without even hearing the music, I knew it was something I could vibe with.  Then, when I learned that the music being made by these British toon-rockers was actually really good, well, I’ve been a fan ever since.  Now, a new documentary has been released providing fans with new and never before seen details into the creation and execution of this incredibly creative and inspiring group.  

The film is definitely a must watch for fans of the group and can be seen in its entirety here…

Recently, news had been spreading on the net that a 91-minute documentary, fittingly titled, BANANAZ will be release on June 1st. This is the documentary (behind the scene) trailer I found from My Modern Met. Looks interesting. What say you?

Happy St. George’s Day!  Bothered.

Today, Robbie is getting ready for Camden Crawl which starts tomorrow.  Apparently he’ll be there for 2 days interviewing bands.  And drinking.  His hitlist includes The Enemy, Suggs and the mighty Kasabian.  Don’t forget to check out Channelbee to see what he comes back with (apart from a mighty hangover).

Coming in to see us today will be Ceri Levy, a mate of Lovejoy’s who’s directed a documentary on Gorillaz, Gorillaz Go Bananaz, which is now showing on Babelgum.  Sounds like a top bloke, and the film looks really interesting, especially if you’re a fan of Damon Albarn and co.

But by far the biggest story in the office today is the impending football match against Gordon Smart and his mob from The Sun tonight at the David Beckham Academy.  I think it’s being called a grudge match because they hammered us last summer, but our team is stronger than it was back then so we’re feeling confident.

On Channelbee’s daily blog today we’ve got Lovejoy from his 606 studio last night giving us a tour.

On the subject, we’ve always got highlights from the Premier League and Europe’s top football leagues on the site; if you didn’t see it at the time, you have to watch the 4-4 Liverpool Arsenal game from Tuesday.  Still with football, we’ve got Manchester United and England stalwart Rio Ferdinand up on the site today.

We gave him 60 seconds to plug his new magazine, “#5“, which is out today.  We did do more with him though, and we’ll have it all up soon.

On music today we’ve got another chance for you to predict the future in our URA&R slot.  This time you’ve got to take a look at Manchester Orchestra and let us know what you think.

anyone else love the gorillaz like i do? they haven’t done much recently but i guess their documentary’s been keeping them busy. that’s right. documentary. it’s called BANANAZ. and it was released on the web on 4/20.
