Daisy has really been surprising me the past few days.  It’s been bitter cold around here the past week with lows in the single digits and minus 17 or more for wind chill at night so I haven’t been riding as much.  It’s just too hard on her muscles.  We have been lunging lightly to keep her moving and I’ve been giving small amounts of aspirin when she doesn’t look quite right.  Friday it started warming up so I lunged her a bit harder to get her ready to be ridden on Saturday.  She was crazy on the lunge line-she didn’t want to stop!  So anyway, after a long lunge session mostly trotting as fast as her legs could carry her, she was looking great.  Nice even trot and her canter was even nice.  I got on Saturday and she acted much like she did on the lunge line-running around and using up energy.  I did get her to come down pretty nice and she was fairly relaxed so overall it was good.  Today I brought her in the arena, hopped on, and we walked for a long time to warm up.  It was warm enough for the ice to be melting on the roof and it was wooshing down the side periodically.  Daisy was a bit spooky about the whole thing, but she only had two or three major spooks.  One of them was enough to twist my back funny so I’m a little sore, but it wasn’t too bad.  When she does that and I stay with her, it just reminds me how much we’ve worked together and how much better I’ve gotten over the past several years, so although it can be a little rough, it’s still good to see that I don’t come off balance at all.  Diane was in there with me giving me a lesson during a couple of the spooks so we were actually doing things at the time.  The recoveries were quick and Daisy went right back to work mode after just a few errant strides.  We held it together very well.  Daisy ended up being beautiful and in frame for most of the time we worked.  We called it good after about 15 minutes because she was being SO good.  Hard work gets a reward, so she got done fast. 

I have a few good pictures to post-one of the snow and one of Daisy after she rolled in the snow while she was shaking off.  I’ll post them tomorrow, though-they’re on my work computer   So it’s off to Mom’s house for Bandit and me tonight-he’ll be happy about that.  I went out last night to go shopping and Bandit was quite upset that he wasn’t going with.  It’s so funny how he expects to go with me places now!  He must really have a good time when we go to Mom’s even though he doesn’t play much.  If I remember, I thought I’d bring one of his toys with.  Maybe if he has something that familiar to him to play with, he might start a game with Zetta. 

Jake is still fine, too.  I’m laying on my stomach on the couch right now as I’m typing.  He came up and laid on my legs to fall asleep.  I guess it’s warmer to be cuddly when it’s cold outside.  He’s not usually so much a cuddle dog

There used to be a Swedish radio station really worth listening to. I grew up listening to tracks like these until the golden days of this radio station were put to an end sometime in 1996. The station is apparently still around namewise but i bet by now it’ll sound like every other commercial radio station out there. I really miss the DJ:s on Bandit 105.5.

The torch appears to have been passed though, to another nice little radio station called Rocket 95.3fM, but i’d still like to take this opportunity to revive the magic of the years leading up to 1996, before the end of Bandit 105.5

I wasn’t able to register for the NB Race since I was out of town when the race was supposed to be held; but due to Typhoon Ondoy that wreaked havoc across the Metro, the race was re-scheduled at a later date.

My involvement in this race was another first for me. Since I am a newbie on the blog and running scene, visitors may just get tired reading about my “firsts”. Please put up with me since my primary motivation in creating this page is to chronicle my running – hence the firsts

I met Ley on November 22, 2009 during the Botak Paabilisan Road Race. He run 15K while I did the 10K where I finished 54:48 (unofficial). I was so “high” during that time so I volunteered to be his pacer for the NB Run because he wants to have a sub60 finish. I guess everybody is already aware that officially, my time during the Botak race is 1:03:29. I really felt bad after learning of the published official time, honestly, I was embarrassed – I was overconfident; I posted my unofficial result on my FB account, told friends, wrote about it on the blog etc… I was disheartened, yes, but it only fueled my desire to do better next time.

I can’t bully anybody in the office to bring me to the race area, so I asked Doc Topher if I can possibly hitch a ride; he agreed so I diligently waited for him in front of Camp Crame lest he changed his mind :-) Thank you, DocT!

We arrived early at BHS; that gave me more time to warm up and say hello to more people. I was tense and kept thinking that I may not be able to keep up with the task at hand… I said a little prayer then off I went to the starting shoot with Doc Marvs, Que, and Marga hoping that I will be able to inched my way without being noticed (sorry ka nalang, matalas ang mata ng checker hehehe) I then waited for Ley after the starting line…

We started nicely, I kept up with his pace; Ley is pretty strong. He was determined. I thought it was an easy route until we reached Mckinley… the uphill was a killer. I can’t remember who’s motivating who when we reached that area, but suffice to say that we both negotiated the hill without walking. The gradual elevation at the area of Essensa is another story on our way back. It’s just so hard to negotiate such when you are already spent.

We slowly increased our pace after the stoplight, we both regained our strength and I am pretty sure that Ley will have a sub60 finish. I was the persistent cheerer 500meters to the finish line. I was shouting Ley “bilis konti nalang, malapit na” over and over again until he reached the finish line. Ley finished the race in 57:57!

It was an awesome race… I choked back tears as I gave him a hug at the finish line.

Congrats, Ley! You did it with flying colors…

The race day was very significant. Apart from being a first time bandit, it was also during that Sunday where I met more or less thirty (30) energetic and super friendly takbo.ph members (you are awesome, guys!)

I was glad Ley gave me the chance to be his Bandit… that day proved to be one of the shining moments of my crazy running life :-)  Thanks so much, friend! It meant a lot to me…

What Are Bandit Signs?

’s start with what bandit signs? A lot of people may not know what they are. You shoould know at this time of because with the political aspects you wishes see dozens of bandit signs all upon your neighbourhood pub highways and intersections from politicians. Especially if you partake of some contested political races in your area you’ll see these.

They are signs that you see on the technique that are typically 18×24 inches. They can be weird sizes, but that is the typpical size. They will have a short message on them.

In the case of politicians they’re basically going to have their VIP and peradventure one or two words about some issue they’re supporting or whatever. They’re going to be unequivocally shorrt and sweet.

Rules and Regulations

One of the interesting things about bandit signs and thither local jurisdictions in terms of rules and regulations is that politicians are excluded those rules and regulations. That’s always interesting that politicians put out as many bandit signs as they want and they’re utterly perrmitted.

You and I who are trying to funding a profitable business, make a living, and authenticate maybe some employees, we do not have same right privilege. Keep that in mind that our politicians get special treatment. They are allowed to put out signs at will and gallimaufry up our highways with no repercussions, where you and I can’t do that.

Color and Message

Bandit signs have some tricks to doinng them. One is that you must get a really good combination colors and message. We’ve talked about message quite a tittle.

In this case you have very limited space. You only have enough space you bear invent about big-timer that’s either driving sooner than potentially at 15, 20, 30 miles an hour, or God willing has stopped at an intersection at a red lightt and they’re only successful to have 30 seconds or to see your communication. It cannot be a detailed message.

One of the major problems that I see with a of people do bandit signs is they see to too much stuff on it. What happens is the text so small that you can’t see at all. I’ve got unfavourable eyes and I exertion then to read signs.

There bandit signs in sight there where they try to lodge three or four different lines on there and ’s worthless. They’ve absolutely wasted ttheir money because it’s so small you can’t read the mmessage.

The point about bandit signs is you want to put a single line of text – your messagee – a phone reckon, and maybe website. That’s it. Do not try to put aanything . If you try to put anything more than that what happens is the memorandum gets so small it’s not wortthwhile.

We’re trying to detrain b leave a perfunctory message across to people moving at a fairly alacritous speed. The message has to be short crisp.

Well, Bunny is gone.  I went out there this morning and nothing took him, so I had to figure out what to do with him.  I went to my garbage can and found a very large dog food bag so I took the shovel and put him in there.  I guess that’s sort of ironic or something that he was put in a dog food bag….  He had a very proper garbage can burial after that.  I can’t really leave him outside any longer!! 

Bandit keeps going outside to go see if Bunny has magically reappeared somehow.  He follows the fence line to check and make sure that it’s not out there waiting for him.  He has stopped sniffing under the deck, so I’m pretty sure it was just the one rabbit down there (that’s good!!).  Also, he doesn’t seem as interested in playing outside anymore.  He goes out, sniffs for a bit, then comes back in.  It’s getting cold, so that may be part of it, but I really think he misses his buddy.  The cat has been keeping her distance, too.  I don’t know if she can smell dead rabbit on Bandit or what-he doesn’t stink at all, but you know that animals have that sixth sense-but she hasn’t been out much.  When she did come out, Bandit chased her down pretty quickly.  I’m not really sure what to do with that situation.  I guess they’re going to have to work that out amongst themselves.

Anyone who wanted to know what would happen if Bandit caught the rabbit, raise your hand!  I have an answer for you-and it’s not good news for Bunny. 

Yes, my second German Shepherd bringing me a dead bunny story.  Ugh.  This one didn’t make it into the house, thank God.  Yesterday, Bandit was screwing around in the back yard.  Bunny was getting bold enough to sit in the back corner with no real route of escape from the dogs and wait for them.   Apparantly, Bandit chased him off.  Today, something similar happened with different consequences for Bunny, though.  Bandit chased him down and nabbed him as he was trying to get away.  I think Bandit grabbed him pretty hard then let go.  I’m thinking that Bunny snapped his neck either hitting the back fence or just being jerked that hard as he was trying to get away because there was minimal blood.  There were four puncture wounds and some torn fur, but just a little blood so he must have died pretty quick.  I caught the tail end of this chase from the sliding glass door.  I couldn’t really tell what happened until Bandit paused and stared at a bush, then started carefully dragging the dead rabbit from behind the bush (it’s a small bush, so the theory of it all is feasible).  I think Bandit was pretty upset.  I was freaked out, so I opened the door immediately and yelled at him to leave the thing alone.  Bandit came charging up to the door and came in (thankfully not with the bunny in his mouth).  He walked around crying for a little bit-just little whines-because he was upset about the whole thing.  I watched the bunny for a couple minutes to see if it moved at all.  Nothing happened for several minutes so I went and got a shovel and scooped him up.  I was careful to check for breathing or movement, then I put the little guy over ther fence into my front yard so the guys can’t get him.  I’m hoping that a hawk or something comes and gets him before I have to try to figure out some other way to dispose of him.  I’m thinking about doing a little burial, but I just haven’t decided what to do yet.  Bandit is starting to come out of his mini-depression now.  He was moping around the house and sighing for a while.  He laid down and just stayed there for a while.  He was looking out the window where Bunny used to hang out and watch him, too.  Now he’s starting to relax again.  I still feel bad-I really think that after it was done, he didn’t know why the thing wasn’t moving and he was trying to carefully bring it to me to fix or just to take it out from under the bush to play with him some more.  This is what happens when you tempt fate, though, Bunny.  You were a REALLY stupud rabbit. 

So that’s the end of the story, I think.  I thought for a while that Bunny may have had a family under my deck, but Bandit doesn’t seem to interested in anything under there now, so it may have just been him the whole time.  I’m sure there’s a moral to the story here somewhere, but I don’t know how to put it.  I guess it would be something like “Never make friends with something 8 times your size with big teeth”.

Suhteilla pelataan paljon, kaveribändejä otetaan lämppäreiksi (tai kaverin bändille päästään lämppäriksi), järjestetään cover-iltoja, akustisia keikkoja jne. Suhteet ovat muusikoille tärkeitä.

Nämä suhteet eivät synny Facebookissa, Meteli.netissä tai MySpacessa notkumalla, vaan käymällä keikoilla ja juttelemalla muiden muusikoiden kanssa. Mikään ei voita lähikontaktia. Jo syntyneitä suhteita voi sitten tietysti ylläpitää myös koneen ääressä.

Esiintyvä artisti oppii tekemällä ja katsomalla. Live-keikan katsominen netistä ei ole ihan sama juttu kuin lavan edessä seisominen. Arvas ennustaa että yhtyeiden taso laskee, kun ei olla enää uteliaita katsomaan ja oppimaan muilta. On vanha viisaus että kirjailijan pitää lukea paljon, jotta kartuttaa ja ylläpitää omaa taitoaan, ja sama pätee joka alalla. Oman pään sisällä pyörimällä ei opi uutta.

Turussa tehdään paljon hyvää musiikkia, ja täältä löytyy monen genren taitajia. Vanhempi polvi on tottunut – ja oppinut – siihen että käydään keikoilla ja luodaan suhteita moneen suuntaan aktiivisesti. Siitä saa nostetta omalle uralle, oppii uutta ja saa keikkoja. Jostain syystä nuoremmat yrittäjät eivät ole tätä tajunneet. Kyynisempi ihminen voisi sanoa että sitä se koneiden kanssa leikkiminen teettää: virtuaalimaailman kuvitellaan korvaavan oikeat ihmissuhteet.

Netti on hieno ja kätevä asia, ja itsekin roikun täällä jatkuvasti, mutta pitää muistaa pistää nokkansa välillä oikeaan maailmaan – vaikka se toisinaan vaivalloiselta tuntuukin. Siitä on hyötyä.

Are you kidding me?  I know anyone can be a “man” while holding a gun, but this is nonsense.  There isn’t one person that has a reaction time 10 seconds better than an elderly man?!?  It takes old men 5 mins to actually locate and grab their wallet.  How could anyone not catch this man?  Even if he was able to get some money, you would have to think that anyone should have been able to either trip, confuse or startle the old guy long enough to take a weapon away.  It probably took him a good 7 minutes to walk to the damn door and make his escape!  Not ONE person could have taken advantage of this guys old eyes, bad hearing or fragile bone structure?  You could sneak up on him from behind and break his bones with one hip check! Or stall for just 10 mins and he would have needed a nap! This is just another sign of the “Pussification of America”.  America is turning into a nation of pussies and if this story doesn’t prove it I don’t know what will.

The sad thing is I am sure no one tried to stop him because while doing so, if the old guy got hurt, he could probably turn around and sue the bank he just robbed.

nu e man hemma igen… eller i sthlm iaf.

Berlin var grymt kul, Team Awesome e världens bästa gäng! onsdagen gick mest åt till att ta oss till vårat hostel, tillsammans med Malin, hennes syster Johanna och en kompis till dem. vi skulle alla förutom deras kompis dela rum! efter att ha lyckats checka in gick vi ut för att fixa lite mat till stackars Therese som inte ätit.. efter de blev de bara till att knata hem och lägga sig!
på torsdagen vandrade vi runt i Berlin, pimpade när vi kom åt, drack latte på Starbucks, såg East Side Gallery mm. efter att ha gått i typ sex timmar tog vi det väldigt bra beslutet att åka tåg hem… våra kroppar var helt slutkörda och inget slår Therese min när vi sa att det var ca fem kilometer till den klubben vi skulle till på kvällen… sen visade det sig att det inte var riktigt så långt, men det räckte och blev över!så, hem byta om och sen ut igen! hade blivit tipsad om en rockklubb som hette Sage, så vi drog dit! grymt ställe! massa bra musik, kul blandning av folk, liveband, olika musikstilar, billig tequila, helt perfekt! tog oss en timme att knata hem, men de var fan värt det!

sen var det dags för dagen som vi faktiskt åkte ner för! 30 Seconds to mars skulle spela på Astra, och det var nästan två år sen man såg dem sist! tog oss upp ur sängen ganska sent, lyckades hitta till kön, efter en liten sväng till supermarket och inhandling av picknick och dylikt… sen satte vi oss… vet inte riktigt vad vi fördrev tiden med men mest var det nog att knata runt i området runt arenan, riktigt coolt område! massa graffitti, fallfärdiga byggnader och konstigt folk…
runt sex lyckades vi få kontakt med killen från EMI, Richy, som Therese hade haft kontakt med. vi drog till Alexanderplatz och mötte upp honom, Bollnäs-Martin, Mari från bandit göteborg och de två vinnarna av tävlingen som hölls på bandit för en tid sen. de skulle käka, men eftersom vi redan gjort de så blev det istället öl för mig och Josse och tequila för Therese.
tog taxi tillbaka till Astra, sen var det bara att hoppa in!  förbandet hade redan börjat när vi kom in, och det jag hörde lät ganska tråkigt… en stund innan 30 gick vi in och ställde oss vid mixerbordet för att se ordentligt, men när de skulle börja kunde vi inte hålla oss så långt bak, utan trängde oss fram en bra bit..
vilken show! insåg under de första minutrarna precis varför man åker så mycket och betalar så mycket pengar för att se dem! de körde mest från A beautiful lie, This is war och kings & queens från nya skivan.. även början av The Mission. helt otroligt, kan knappt vänta till mars!!
efter konserten stack Therese iväg på Meet&Greet, jag och Josse roade oss själva. fick sen lite signerat, bland annat fick Josse en bit baguette singerad!! sen satte vi oss och fortsatte vår “picknick”, sen tog vi oss hemåt… vilket tog fyra timmar! alkohol kan ha varit inblandat… massa roliga kort och sjuka videos blev det iaf! väl hemma fick Josse och Therese tokbryt och satt och fnittra i typ en timme… resten av rummet (inkl jag) var inte lika imponerade…

hemresan gick hyfsat snabbt, efter att tjejen i receptionen varit tvungen att väcka oss för att vi skulle checka ut.. så vi segade oss ut till flygplatsen, segade oss där, segade oss hem till sthlm och sen var vi helt slut.. så slut att jag inte pallade att åka till göteborg idag… ÅNGEST!!! men iaf… blev inget av våran resa.. vi får helt enkelt satsa på nästa! Plan Three blir det iaf imorn, då som förband till Mew på Cirkus!! och så ska de ( de är musiker, så man vet aldrig) ha med sig skivan så man kan köpa den!!
