The President pardons the turkey…and so do I….

WASHINGTON – After 10 months in office, President Barack Obama granted his first pardon Wednesday to “Courage,” a 45-pound turkey spared from the Thanksgiving table.

Accompanied by daughters Sasha and Malia, Obama stood under the North Portico of the White House to honor a holiday tradition that dates to 1947 — receiving a bird from the National Turkey Federation.

“I’m told Presidents Eisenhower and Johnson actually ate their turkeys,” Obama said. “You can’t fault them for that; that’s a good-looking bird.”

President George H.W. Bush was the first to officially pardon a turkey.

Obama joked about wanting to forgo the tradition and eat “Courage.”

“Thanks to the interventions of Malia and Sasha — because I was planning to eat this sucker — ‘Courage’ will also be spared this terrible and delicious fate,” he said.

bama said he wished all American service members at home and abroad a happy Thanksgiving, saying it is a “tremendous honor it is to serve as commander in chief of the finest military in the world.”

He also spoke about the first family’s plans for the holiday dinner.

“Just like millions of other families across America, we’ll take time to give our thanks for many blessings,” Obama said. “We’ll also remember this is a time when so many members of our American family are hurting.”

Obama noted that President Abraham Lincoln made Thanksgiving a holiday in the midst of the Civil War, “when the future of our very union was most in doubt.”

“This is an era of new perils and new hardships,” he added. “So on this quintessentially American holiday, as we give thanks for what we’ve got, let’s also give back to those who are less fortunate.”

After his remarks, the turkey was lifted to a table and Obama raised his hand over its head to deliver a mock-serious pardon.

“You are hereby pardoned,” he said.

Obama said “Courage” will get to spend the rest of his life in “peace and tranquility” at Disneyland.

Wang Zifei, a student at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, attended Obama’s town hall at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. Zifei sat in a spot that resulted in her appearing in a number of photos from the event. She has become an Internet sensation, with people referring her to as the ‘beauty in black beside Obama.’

This “Obama girl in black” or the “woman in black behind Obama” also captured attention by wearing a bright red coat to the event, and she became the subject of a popular animation which shows the coat being taken off, which you can watch here.

Durou pouco a “lua de mel” entre os presidentes Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva e Barack Obama. O governo brasileiro começou a ter problemas com a administração dos EUA, principalmente, por causa dos eventos envolvendo a deposição do ex-presidente de Honduras, Manuel Zelaya, e a recepção do presidente iraniano Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

No caso de Honduras, o Brasil, ao contrário dos EUA, não considera legítima a eleição presidencial em Honduras, marcada para o próximo domingo. A posição brasileira era da volta de Zelaya ao poder. Já os EUA acreditam que o ex-presidente hondurenho teria, de fato, ferido a lei de seu país ao propor um plebiscito popular pedindo novas eleições.

Já no caso de Ahmadinejad, Barack Obama, em carta a Lula, criticou veladamente o governo brasileiro por não ter pressionado diretamente o governo iraniano para que enriqueça urânio apenas no exterior. Fundamental para a produção de energia nuclear de fins pacíficos, o enriquecimento de urânio é também uma etapa da construção da bomba atômica.

US President Barack Obama will go to the early stages of December’s UN climate summit in Copenhagen, but will not stay for crucial talks at the end.

Mr Obama will be in the Danish capital on 9 December on his way to Oslo to pick up his Nobel Peace Prize, a US administration official said.

The talks will attempt to draw up a new global climate treaty to supplant the 1997 Kyoto Protocol.

So far more than 60 world leaders have said they will attend the summit.

Observers say the attendance of such figures as Mr Obama will raise expectations, although the talks are not expected to result in a new treaty.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 27% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-two percent (42%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -15. This is the lowest Approval Index rating yet measured for President Obama (see trends).

Fifty-two percent (52%) of Democrats Strongly Approve while 68% of Republicans Strongly Disapprove. Among those not affiliated with either major political party, just 16% Strongly Approve and 51% Strongly Disapprove (see other recent demographic highlights from the tracking poll).

Forty-five percent (45%) want U.S. troops home from Afghanistan either right away or within a year.Forty-three percent (43%) are opposed to such a firm timetable.

Fifty-three percent (53%) of voters worry that the federal government will do too much when it comes to reacting to the nation’s financial problems. That’s up seven points since President Obama took office.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates are also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 45% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. That matches the lowest level of total approval yet measured for this president. Eighty-one percent (81%) of Democrats approve as do 33% of unaffiliated voters. Eighty-three percent (83%) of Republicans disapprove.

Among all voters, 54% now disapprove.

Support for the health care plan proposed by the President and Congressional Democrats has fallen to a new low of 38%. Sixty percent (60%) of voters believe passage of the bill will lead to higher health care costs.

I have been asked how I created the Obama Hawaiian Birth Certification, based on the YouTube video

Here is a comparison between the Obama forged COLB and the one I created using Mediachance RealDraw Pro. Here is the ‘Certification of Live Birth’ posted by Obama on Fight the Smears.

Here is the BLANK HAWAIIAN TEMPLATE that has been on the internet

Note that the above ‘BLANK HAWAIIAN TEMPLATE’ has the Jun6 -2007 date already on the image.

Using the RealDraw program, I then added the same text as found on the Obama ‘FTS’ COLB, and even added the appearance of an embossed seal.

Here is an overlay with the Obama ‘FTS’ COLB on the bottom and the text that I overlayed on the BLANK HAWAIIAN TEMPLATE to show that they fit exactly.

Here is a closeup of the text showing how exact they are.

The end result is that even with a basic graphics program, a little patience and know how, anyone can create a Birth Certification. However I would like to note, that in creating this I in no way am passing this off as an authentic, valid Birth Certification, Birth Certificate or legal document. The sole purpose is documenting that the Obama “Certification of Live Birth” posted on ‘FTS’ Fight the Smears and FactCheck are in fact forgeries and in documenting how they were produced.
