Harrow residents can feel a lot safer this Christmas with the new ‘cross-border’ initiative put in place by the Metropolitan Police.

The scheme, which is currently on its six-month pilot due to finish at the end of December, allows police from Harrow, Brent, Barnet and Ealing to cross into each other’s borders to answer calls more efficiently, and it has already proved to be a huge success.

As part of the pilot scheme, officers are able to cross into the borders of neighbouring boroughs if they are the nearest to the scene of a reported crime. As well making a dramatic cut in response time, the initiative also helps to take some of the strain away from officers who are already involved in an emergency and unable to report to any other crimes.

One of the main focuses of this pilot is an attempt at getting the public to regain a sense of faith in the Metropolitan Police as part of the new ‘Policing Pledge’.

According to the Metropolitan Police, “One of the main commitments of our pledge is that we will always treat you fairly, with dignity and respect, making sure that everyone has access to our service at a time that is reasonable and suitable for you.”

Although the initiative has had such positive impact in Harrow, it is still unclear if it will become a permanent scheme for the New Year.

I had a great session with they boys they were really great fun! All very handsome and a great sense of humour. And were especially good at doing zoolander impressions!!! I still haven’t decided who was the best!

I’m sure most Spurs fans were delighted to see their club put nine goals past Wigan Athletic. It’s an event that hasn’t occurred in league football since the early days of free scoring Barnet in the Football League. It’s also the first 9-1 result this century! I feel that an interesting way of looking at it, is how did the club get on in their next match? Does a 9-1 win lead onto a good performance in the next match? The results are intriguing..

As you glance through the results below you may notice an interesting trend, rather than 9-1 leading onto bigger things, it (quite bizarrely) actually makes a club less likely to win their next game! I found it very hard to chose my favourites as there were just so many!

Another good close game between these sides saw Barnet run out the winners for the second game in a row.

A very even first half with plenty of chances for both sides saw Watford take the lead as a fantastic through ball from the returning Paul Watt allowed Paul Whittenbury in to take his second in two games with a classy finish. A 20-yarder pulled Barnet back on level terms just before half time, the lad who scored it seems to get better each time we play against him.

The second half started where the first left off with more chances coming at both ends – a succession of Watford corners provided a good laugh for everyone as the Barnet keeper asked the ref for “some protection”, this was met with him getting a group hug from the Watford lads in the box before the next corner was taken.

Barnet took the lead through a horrible mistake at the back leaving their striker unmarked in the box with a simple finish – luckily a fair few of us were out together on Saturday night so we could give the player concerned the “sympathetic encouragement” he deserved for that one. As Watford pushed forward again looking for an equaliser we were caught out again and the game finished 3-1.

Thanks to John for hosting us (and spending most of the morning fishing balls out of the river) and his team for a decent, enjoyable game – looking forward to the return game in Bushey later in the year.

A big happy first brithday to Orly in her Fab new hat!!!!!

Idag var det ett år sen man började stäcka på sig som stolt far. En dag jag inte trodde skulle komma så snart i mitt liv. William är allt man kan önska sig, han är en klipsk och oerhört fin liten pojke som jag skulle göra allt för. Vi har våra duster ibland men någon stund senare så är det glömt och vi ligger på soffan och myser och skrattar igen. Nu har som sagt ett helt år gått av vad som ska bli många mångar år av Williams liv. Han kommer springa, skratta, bada, plaska simma, cykla, gråta och sura och vi kommer älska honom hela tiden! Du är bäst, William! Pappa och Mamma älskar dig!

Fick en anledning att göra min absolut första tårta! Ser inte klok ut, men den är säkert god. Kiwi och banan i mitten, mandariner och After Eight på toppen med bananer runt.
