If people are being oppressed, tortured, raped and mercilessly killed and you still will not speak out because you see it as a political struggle that you don’t want to interfere in, then I have 1 question for you. Where is your humanity?

I go to these protests not because I am Arab or because my country (Libya) has gone through this and I can relate to their struggle but for the reason that I cannot bare the thought of it happening to me here in Canada. We are not immune from injustice. And if one day we are oppressed and our families are raped, tortured and killed who will we call for to help us but the people who believe in justice and have a heart. Our freedom is no longer guaranteed if we cannot support them. So let’s support the Syrian struggle for freedom, dignity and democracy because we believe in freedom, dignity and democracy.
