La saison NBA a repris. (Bon, j’avoue, y’a quelques jours, je savais même pas qu’elle s’arrêtait, mais bon…) Et depuis le temps que je vis à New York, je n’avais jamais vraiment calculé le basket. Disons que j’allais au Madison pour des concerts mais les Knicks… voilà quoi. Enfin, ça c’était jusqu’à ce qu’on m’invite à aller voir mon 1^er match, hier soir, New York contre Cleveland, équipe de LeBron James –cri de groupie AHHHHHHH- et Shaquille O’Neal –cri de groupie encore plus fort AHAHAHAHAHAHAH-. Je suis donc allée encourager ces messieurs à remuer leurs derrières en courant après un ballon orange sans aucune connaissance des règles. Récit initiatique de mon premier match NBA à New York…

La mise en condition pour aller voir ce match a été rude. Déjà, c’était du dernière minute, donc pas le temps de repasser à la maison, de m’habiller cainri et de sortir les Jordan 1 ou autre artifice qui me rendrait un peu plus basketball-crédible. Je pars du taf en catastrophe, sans dîner, direction Madison Square Garden, 34^ème rue, Manhattan. Le match commence à 20h. Je pense que je vais m’ennuyer et j’hésite à acheter le dernier “The Source”. C’mon, « give a basketball game a chance Travelin’ Girl »… Ok, ça va ça va, j’y vais sans rien, juste un fond de Fraises Tagada dans le sac et c’est parti !

Ce match est un événement assez important parce que LeBron James est quand même une grosse re-sta. Shaq’ aussi, mais il a déjà eu son heure de gloire. Là, le people c’est LeBron. Et moi, je l’aime bien. Il est humble, simple et attaché à sa communauté. Un brave type quoi.

Arrivée là-bas, je réalise que je ne connais pas vraiment les règles du basket. Je collectionnais les cartes NBA du McDo à l’époque du CM2, certes ; mais quand on avait basket au collège, j’étais pas super opé. J’me rappelle juste du but ultime: Mettre le ballon dans le panier. J’imagine que le reste, j’le comprendrai au cours du match, les Cainri sont pas des lumières donc ça doit être easy.

Mon siège est très très haut placé. Genre au plus haut en fait. Au moins j’ai une vue globale du match. C’est bien aussi. Et puis le zoom de mon appareil tue donc je pourrais quand même faire des tof sympas… En bonne novice, je vais pecho un petit Sprite (petit n’est-ce pas…) et une frite (oui oui, petite…) et je sens que ce match va avoir des conséquences assez lourdes sur mes hanches. Passons. Une fois installée, je ne sais pas encore que je vais me manger 2h30 de show à l’américaine. Avec tous les stéréotypes que tu peux imaginer. Parce que finalement, le match de basket ne représente que quoi, la moitié du show ? Et ces 50%, à ma grande surprise, j’les ai kiffés ! J’étais pour Cleveland comme tout le monde, (c’est fou comme les New-yorkais ont retourné leur veste pour LeBron) et j’ai suivi avec attention les échanges, les pass pass, les 3 points et les autres trucs techniques dont je ne connais pas le nom. Les Knicks se sont bien défendus face aux Cavaliers de Cleveland mais ils ont évidemment perdu. Malgré ça, l’ambiance était vraiment vraiment ouf ! Le mieux (ou le pire devrais-je dire) c’était la musique. Ils nous ont ressortis TOUS les hits les plus dossiers des 10 dernières années (“Boom Boom Bomm and let me hear you say Hého Heho” (Soupir. Dur). Ou encore “Clap Clap Clap, Clap your hands”). On a eu droit à des classiques aussi, genre “We will we will rock you”. Mais le pompon c’était les sons à la “Tournez Manège” qui te rappellent aussi la fête foraine. WTF !? Pourquoi tant de haine envers nos oreilles ?

Et quand les beaux basketteurs ne jouent pas, c’est là que tu comprends ce qu’est de l’entertainement à l’état pur. Tout est calibré au millimètre près pour nous occuper. Les caméras nous montrent que Jay Z, Chris Rock ou John Legend sont dans la salle, on nous présente le Guest DJ de la soirée : Grandmaster Flash, (en enchaînant pas très subtilement sur une pub DJ Hero dans la foulée), on nous fait faire des jeux débiles sur grand écran, on nous fait encourager les danseuses en mini-short, on nous fait secouer la tête sur Kevin Rudolf, (qui s’est fait siffler de OUF d’ailleurs) et, comble du stéréotype, on nous impose une demande en mariage en direct* ! Oui, comme dans les films. Un gars a proposé à sa fiancée de l’épouser, toutes les caméras rivées sur lui. Il a mis son genou par terre et elle a dit oui. Nous, on a crié très très fort ! En fait, à chaque pause (et damn y’en a beaucoup !) on nous lavaient le cerveau à coup de pubs, danses et musique, enfin, pour ceux qui restaient sur leurs sièges. Les autres se ruaient généralement sur la bouffe… Vive l’Amérique! Finalement j’ai aimé les 2 aspects du match  : le sport, mais aussi les animations débiles qui m’ont fait régresser intellectuellement. Résultat, j’ai pris des hanches et perdu des neurones, le tout s’équilibre non ? En tout cas j’me suis grave amusée. Le jeu en vaut la chandelle ? Hell yeah ! Je recommande vivement. Même les places tout en haut valent la peine… Check les tof !

The Cavaliers lead off in the double header tonight in on TNT. Lebron James and the Cavs will take on the young Chicago Bulls. The Bulls are off a very impressive win against the Bucks and will have to be on top of their game to take down the Cavs tonight. The Cavs are playing much better basketball after a slow start out of the gate very slowly. They are lighting it up from three point range and that only helps the inside game. The Pacers are not starting off on the right foot while Carmello Anthony is looking like a MVP and the Nuggets looking very good. The Pacers lost 96-83 to Miami as 1.5-point favorites in last contest, but are in favorable position Tuesday, since home teams off a losing season and an upset loss by 10 points or more as a favorite, are 23-4 ATS. The Nuggets have not been a good road favorite in the past as they are just 1-5 ATS in the last six trying to cover a number on the road. The Pacers are 10-3-1 ATS in their last 14 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 19-7 ATS in their last 26 games as a home underdog of 5.0-10.5. The Wizards should be in letdown mode after such a big win in the first night and look for the Hawks to win easily in this game tonight. The Wizards are just 3-13 ATS in the last 16 games against division foes and the Hawks are 30-18 ATS off and against the spread win. Take the Hawks at home led by Joe Johnson and Al Hofford to get the big win and cover the spread at home.

Bet Jamaica has Portland as seven-point choice with total of 197 and they are 30-12 ATS in home games after they covered the spread. The Blazers held the Rockets to 37.0 percent shooting and out rebounded them 51-33. Portland also took a 13-point lead into the second half after holding Houston to 18 second-quarter points and they are 27-11 ATS after playing a game as a home favorite. The Blazers are the play tonight as they cover this number on the way to blowing out the Nuggets.
