Our favourite pieces in Kate´s collection are the ´Beach Bum MER tag,very fitting for Be Beach.  The Suru Bangles, simple and gorgeous with a boho chic beach feel to them and finally,  the Minoa Wrap ring. It is just divine.

For the evening, although we will not doubt still be donning our flips flips, denim cut off´s and a slouchy jumper we choose to add a little glamour with the Token earrings.

Be Beach recently took a whirlwind trip to Fuerteventura.  It was action and adventure orientated with early starts for dawn patrol ( non-surfers this means getting up at a ridiculous hour to scout the surf), often being bundled into the car at sunrise followed by long,  sun-drenched days spent tumbling in the sand and waves…………..Bliss.  After all of that, slipping on our heels and endlessly primping ourselves in an attempt to be ´glam´ could not have been further down the list however, we still needed to impress and look as beach babe-a- licious as possible, if you know what I mean.

As it was only a week trip we travelled light, well, only due to most of the baggage allowance being taken up by surf toys.  Why is it that the few spare kilos that there are, always seem to disappear into thin air the moment we pop the dreaded wash bag in?  We are all guilty of overcompensating with products we would never normally use.  So, with zips bursting at the seams here are the great products and essentials that made the cut…Phew!

We caught up with Marina Chang, owner and publisher of The Kiteboarder Magazine.  An Australian citizen but residing in California she shares her passion for the sport, beach beauty secrets and what gets her up in the morning.  We are also surprised to hear that when at high school,  she was a a pearl diver at Japanese village in Sea World.

What inspires you? The stoke of a new kiter, the satisfaction of finally landing a new move or acquiring a new skill, the community coming together for a cause, random acts of kindness.

What gets you out of bed in the morning? My seemingly bottomless to do list, a good forecast.

 Top sun cream? Elemental Herb organic zinc sunscreen. It goes on clear, dries in seconds and lasts a couple of hours.

Hair care secret? When I lived in the Dominican Republic it created havoc to my hair being in the sun and ocean so much. Only thing that brought my hair back to life and didn’t make it look/feel like straw was Aveda Sap Moss Conditioner –it’s magic.

Nutritional secret? I just got into eating Paleo for health and energy.  I haven’t fully weaned myself off grains and sugar yet but getting there!

Bikini crush? I really want to try out one of Sensi’s bikinis but that might have something to do with the girls rockin her suits in Brazil! I like suits that don’t tie and have all flat surfaces i.e. no rings, beads, or embellishments that dig into you when you put on a wetsuit and harness!

Ultimate beach bag? My Dakine backpack.

Favourite beach and why is it so special to you? I really don’t have a favourite beach as each location offers something special whether it be a particularly memorable session or a cool local crew that spreads the stoke/good vibes.

Sports? Kitesurf, paraglide, SUP, run/hike

1)  Apply a volumising mousse (the hair team backstage at Bottega Veneta used Redken’s Full Frame 07 – volumizing mousse) all through towel-dry hair and let it dry naturally.

2)  If you’re in a rush, flip the damp hair forward and blast the hair dryer on high from underneath. This will give your strands the volume they need.

3)  Now focus on getting the wet look. For that, Guido suggests to apply Argan oil all through the hair using fingers. This will give a silky shine. Remember to only do this once your hair is completely dry.

4)  Use your fingers to pull the hair back into a low ponytail. Tie is loosely with a hair tie at ear level. Do note that there isn’t a parting in the hair.

5)  Now wrap the ponytail into a messy low bun / chignon and secure with bobby pins. Pull a few strands out here and there if you want to add to the effortless look of the style.
