Top 5 gay leisure destinations in the U.S according to a recent survey by the LGBT-focused Community Marketing Inc. are:     1 New York,  2 Las Vegas, 3 SF, 4 LA, 5 Chicago. Seems to be mostly the biggest cities otherwise Fort Lauderdale, Key West and Provincetown should have been higher. With lesbians Las Vegas is number 1, also not surprising. The survey also mentioned the most popular countries for American LGBT travelers in Europe. Number 1 is England, 2 France,3 Germany, 4 Italy 5 Spain. I do not understand England being number 1, I think it should have been Spain. Maybe because it is closest to the U.S.?? Italy is great but not so much for specific gay destinations. And where is the Netherlands???

Gay boy-band with hairy fatties BearForce 1 no longer exists. Well I guess for some it was fun as long as it lasted. Basically 2 years I guess with 2 minor hits. The producer of the band was on dutch TV a while back(he is a famous dutch actor) and he said they were mostly popular in the U.S where the bear community is the biggest. But since a year they have had more changes in members then the Sugababes and they were basically a one-trick-pony anyway. It will not cost me a minute of sleep that is for sure.

Indian election authorities have granted what they call an independent identity for transsexuals on the country’s voter lists. They have the change to pick O for “Other” instead of male or female from now on when indicating their gender. Wow after first legalizing gay sex not this. They are getting very progressive in India lately.

I discoverd the gay heavy metal band Pink Steel after I grabbed one of their cds at a music conference this month. With song names like and “Converter” and “We Fight for Cock,” it’s hard not to love them (sorry). Metal and rock ‘n’ roll have had an overtly sexual hetero swagger for so long that it’s time we give gays a turn.

Here’s the video for “Converter.” My favorite line is “You think you’re straight / but just you wait.”

Also noteworthy in the world of campy gay music is Bearforce1, which claims to be the world’s first ‘true bear band’:

That’s right, it’s time again for Sweat Atlanta, and this month’s theme is BEAR HUG PARTY! If Bearforce1 won’t be there, I’m not interested. However, I do appreciate their assiduous dedication to hygiene:

Dungeon Protocol

In an attempt to instill a feeling of Reverence and Respect within Sweat, please refrain from all unnecessary conversation and socialization. All scenes are sacred. It is your responsibility to clean up after scene, including the cleaning of any 1763 equipment with the Clorox solution and/or Antibacterial Soap solution available in each dungeon space.

The glut of springtime weekend festivities started a couple of weeks ago, but I don’t believe it’s really spring until the back-to-back weekends of 420 Fest and the Inman Park Festival.

Starting on Saturday, we get Sweetwater’s annual 420 Fest in Candler Park, Nophest 4&20 Festival in Reynoldstown, and Record Store Day at Criminal Records in Little 5 Points. (So convenient geographically!)

The first-ever annual Record Store Day, invented by the masterminds at Criminal, will be celebrated nationwide at independent record stores, and since we’re so lucky to have some particularly excellent indie music sellers and bands who support them, Criminal has a pretty exciting lineup – Anna Kramer and the Lost Cause, Hope for Agoldensummer, Noot d’ Noot, Janelle Monae, the Coathangers, Judi Chicago, Club Awesome, and more – all for free, with sidewalk sales and giveaways and other things.

But I think what we’ve all be preparing for, emotionally and fashion-wise, is the Atlanta Eagle’s 21st birthday celebration weekend. Specifically, tomorrow night’s Flashlight Party!

What exactly does a Flashlight Party at a leather/bear bar entail? Well, we know one thing – IT WILL BE DARK, BOYS! Eage, I celebrate your longevity, but I will stick to places with overhead lighting and access to Step It Up and Dance. I imagine the party will look something like this, though:

I hesitate to call this one “lite” because this shit is heavy, real heavy. I figured if I was going to give you something really lasery then I should balance it out with something really gay. Bearforce1 is really gay. Really really day. And that’s why they rock.

There is no way in holy hell that you can listen to even a fraction of this without wanting to sing it at some point in your day (maybe even dance). And be warned, someone will catch you. This is some advanced user stuff right here folks. Don’t listen to it unless you are completely comfortable with your sexuality. Otherwise it will turn you directly into a gay man (women, you too). Which is cool because when you get right down to it, aren’t they really a lot better human beings than the rest of us? Yes.

BF1: Not your grandfather’s flaming, hairy, middle-aged, Euro-boy Band

BearForce 1 is taking the “boy” out of “Boy Band”. Comprised of 4 gay men with a penchant for pastel polos and Eurodance rhythms, BF-1 have been making waves in the gay community in recent months. Sporting beards and a few extra pounds, BearForce combines smoking hot vocals and synchronized moves with beats that will jump-start any dance floor. They are making their presence known on the net with their first promotional video having “gone viral” (no pun intended) on the Youtubes and boasting over a million hits to date. Furthermore, they lay claim to the title of “World’s First Bear Band”. Note that I didn’t say “Hair Bear Band. That would look something like this:

Based in the Land of Hash and Bondage (Amsterdam), BearForce 1 are a group of gay men who (cue the Ethel Merman voice) just gotta siinng! …Just gotta Daannce! They also just gotta cultivate facial hair and wear color-coordinated yacht club shirts. Yes, each member of BearForce has his own signature pastel color. In a larger sense, it’s just a part of their individual bear identities. For instance, there’s Misty Rose-clad Robert, an Irish lad for whom musical talent is a birthright: his grandmother is famed Soprano Catherine Hayes. Then there’s spiritually-minded, Pale Turquoise-wearing Peter once studied to become a member of the clergy. (Wonder why that didn’t work out?) Then there’s Ian, known for his Slate Blue golf shirt and love of science. Lemon Chiffon is the color of Yuri, a martial arts expert who can kill a man with a touch. (If you know what I mean–nudge-nudge; wink-wink!) Finally, there’s the so-called “Spare Bear”, Eddi, whose post apparently designates a drab Forest Green shirt.

BearForce has garnered attention from such gay tastemakers as the Logo television network and Perez Hilton. A successful world tour concluded earlier in the year. A single/video was released for the song “Bearforce 1″ which shows the band splashing in fountains, grinding on stepways and singing along. (It should be mentioned that the song includes interpolations of Erasure/Yazoo’s “Don’t Go” and Dead or Alive’s “You Spin me Round (Like a Record)”, just in case you didn’t understand that they were gay. Thanks, fellas!)

The group is still winning acceptance in the thriving gay community, whose total economic power is projected to reach over $800 billion by decade’s end. This got my inner svengali producer thinking. The worldwide gay entertainment market brings tens of billions into the economy every year. Somehow, I need to get entrée into this gay goldmine. If I were to engineer, Milli Vanilli-style, a LGBT pop act, what would I put together? A Bi-Curious Britpop Band? A group of Death Metal Daddies? For a feminine touch, how about some Hip-Hop Hags? Whatever musical brainstorm I end up creating, I hope I can get them on a bill with BearForce 1–I’m going to need all the credibility I can get!

I am not usually a huge fan of the holidays, especially the fucking music. And when it starts before Thanksgiving, it is almost enough to make me completely insane by the time Christmas rolls around. But this is almost gay enough for me to forgive it. Thanks Bearforce1, I appreciate the holiday cheer!
