Me?  I am melting… no, not from JHJ’s hotness (although he is very hot in all the photos above)…. I am melting because of the temperature where I live – 30 degrees Celsius!  Actually, I am still a bit lucky, in Manila the temperature is 34-35 degrees Celsius – I wouldn’t be able to stand that!

Beautiful Day is the opening track on the new studio offering by Cleveland’s alternative folk singer and songwriter Joshua Radin. The follow-up to last year’s album ‘Underwater‘ is already his fifth studio offering, the eleven-track record is entitled ‘Wax Wings’ and was self-released on May 07, 2013. Tonight’s favorite.

I am not really interested in M.I.B’s music.

But I do love this song.

Meanwhile, Husband tried to get the babies ready and the poopy diaper onslaught was inevitable.  While he was changing Little Man, he got peed on.  My response: Welcome to parenthood!  I made toast but had to retoast it an hour later, after I bathed Little Man and got him ready, fed and medicated (nebulizer fun!) His bath was also less tearful, which was awesome!  I needed some breakfast or I wouldn’t have made it to lunchtime. I can go without peeing, but breakfast is a necessity! I ended up putting them in a plastic bowl and running out the door with them and my toast. Once we hit the road, Older Girl announced that she gets hungry when other people eat things she likes…hint much?  I gave the last half of my eggs to the girls, who scarfed them down as though they didn’t eat breakfast.  Welcome to parenthood!  Basically Middle Girl opens her mouth whenever you offer her food, it’s adorable.

I brought out sodas and shorts from the store, and Husband realized he made coffee, poured it and never drank it.  Welcome to parenthood!  He couldn’t stop laughing when I said that.

We were a few minutes late for church, but we made it.  There were poems and songs for mothers, they gave out carnations and balloons and asked all the mothers to stand.  It was a conundrum for me because the kids were presenting the gifts and I wasn’t sure they would have an extra for me.  It’s like being the only one standing at a reception to catch the bouquet.  I didn’t want people to think I was posing–even though the morning’s events proved, I’m a MAMA now!  If only for now, that’s okay.  I’m a mama!  Turns out they did have one set aside and they brought it over to me.  I got so many Mother’s Day greetings from everyone, it was surreal and awesome!  No sooner did we get everyone settled and happy and asleep that church ended early.  lol   I now know how a pyrotechnic artist feels when the fireworks show is over. lol

We got home and situated to take the babies back to foster homes after lunch with my family. Older Girl picked out a card for my mom and signed it, decorated the front, etc.  I couldn’t help the gag and gave my mom a copy of Parental Guidance on Blu-Ray. I gave her a card that said “we’re watching this together so you don’t get any ideas!”  She got a kick out of it.

I wanted to help Older Girl with any confusion or missing of the birth mama, but she just had a blast.  The cousins and extended family got to meet the kids and it was a smashing success.  The family loved the kids and the kids loved them right back!  Stickers, coloring, sleeping on granny, trampolines, they were amazing!  If this is what mother’s day feels like: more, please!
One thing we’ve learned about Older Girl is that she asks repeatedly from Saturday night about having to return to her foster mom’s house.  The ride to take her back was interesting because she acted up a little, arguing and trying to verbally one-up me.  She doesn’t want to return to her foster home (current) and wants to stay with us permanently.  I have to remind myself that this is her way of being upset about where we are right now.  But we continuously remind her how much we will miss her and the babies and that we are working very hard to take her home permanently.

After they were back with the fosters, we tried to clean up our shambles of a house…but we were too tired.  The grocery shopping hadn’t been done yet, so it was DINO NUGGETS for dinner!  Dare I say it again?  WELCOME TO PARENTHOOD!  I’ve been waiting for this!

Steering with one hand, with the brake on the front right tire, makes for a difficult journey. Thanks to the creeper who held the door for us. Thanks to the cookie lady for the sweet treat.

The more I attempt to take the boys out, the more comfortable I will be with it. I know some people would scoff at me and say, “it’s not that hard”. But it is. For me. This whole mom thing is extremely stressful but extraordinarily rewarding. I’m trying to keep it together and stay focused on the positive, for I know that this time with these little guys will pass too soon. Before I know it, I will be walking them into kindergarten, then soon doing the mother-son dances at their weddings. Time is precious!

On another note, the following picture is also from today. Cam put his dog music toy up to the dog’s water dish. Cute.

Vacations with no internet access, no technological connection to the life you live at home, allow you to reconnect with yourself. You reassess the things of importance and triviality in your daily life. You reassess the way you interact with yourself and others. Even if you are unable to relax, or accomplish the things you had wanted to during your time away, you accomplish much more than you realize through distraction free self-reflection.

Welcome to another Monday Music & Movement! Today’s song is one that Lyndie, our other music therapist, taught me from a practicum and a second version that I learned from a different practicum supervisor. Shows you how versatile and well-loved this song is with music therapists in MN!

There are two sets of lyrics that I use with this song to work on goals of name recognition, turn taking, joint attention, and choice making. You will want to choose the lyrics that will best address the goal areas you are working on with a particular group. You can just sing the song as a group to each member and have the friend choose who goes next for option #1, or use a little glockenspiel or handbell to pass around for option #2. Using only one instrument grabs the attention of peers who are not playing the bell, to work on joint attention. Friends wait to take a turn and interact with peers by making a choice of who will go next. Finally, since children love to be the center of attention, why not use a song that will allow the attention to happen in a context that is positive and praises sharing and choice making? It’s great to see little ones succeed with such a simple intervention that sets them up for improvement in multiple functional goal areas.

My rose.  My sweet sweet, beautiful rose.  It has bloomed and it is lovely!  There is one thing though…it has bloomed much more of a pink then red.

Here is Skylar’s rose which was suppose to be pink but has turned red, or so we think.

During the course of events when we planted these roses, we have come to the conclusion, I think, that we might of accidentally gotten our roses mixed up while planting them!  I really do not know how that could of happened because I distinctly remember holding my rose and reading the label with the red rose picture on it while Sky was planting her rose across the yard!  Alas and a lack, either they put a red rose in a pink rose package, or we “traded” roses!  I still love my rose though and don’t think I could trade with the redder rose because I have taken care of my pinkish-red rose awaiting it’s blooms to blossom and wishing for it to grow well!  I believe it’s too late to part with it now.

On to another thing.  Today is Eli’s birthday!  Happy Birthday to one of the dearest boys in the world!  I love you, Eli, and I hope you have a wonderful day!

The sky is blue and the sun is shining!  I thought Mr.Sun was going to be on vacation forever.  It just brings an air of happiness when the sun is out and the wind is blowing and flowers are dancing upon the breeze.  It’s so nice.

The morning is spectacular. Fluffy clouds dot the deep blue sky, and it is time to change to sandals, time to put away my winter shoes. Yesterday it rained a bit, and I heard a long and loud clap of thunder, as loud as any I’ve heard in a while. I expected a downpour, but it never came; instead, it merely sprinkled for a while.

Last night was trivia, and we reigned supreme. Many of the answers worked in our favor, we who are a bit older. One bonus was name the mother in each sitcom. I figured Donna Stone of the Donna Reed Show was not going to be answered by the younger teams. Even the music was easy. Usually the questions ask for groups totally unknown to me. Last night the first question was what duo was originally named Caesar and Cleo. I hopped right on that one. The next music question was whose first hit was A Tisket A Tasket in 1938. East enough-I play it here some Easters. At the end, before the final question, we were tied for second, a spot we were in most of the evening. The category was states and we bet 25, the maximum. The question was name the state admitted to the union in 1863 which first wanted to be called Kanawha. It was another answer I knew right away but I had to convince a couple of my teammates: one of whom wanted Arkansas and the other California. They had no reason, just hunches. When I explained why, they went with my answer. That put us over the top and we won! It made me glad that some of my memory drawers are filled with answers which are generally useless except for trivia contests. They are the drawers with cobwebs and a few mice.

Nothing on tap for the weekend. Rain is expected so maybe I’ll clean out that cabinet I’ve been eyeing for a while. But then again, maybe I won’t. It sounds a bit too much like actual work to me. I think I’m allergic!
