Am i crazy?? Not really, at least not more than usual haha.

I bought these shoes from when I had mozzie bites on my foot and it was so swollen I could barely stand on it, not to mention wear shoes. I had to wear my flatmate’s slippers. He’s like Goliat compared to me and still, I could barely fit in to it.
So after the dr, i bought these shoes. Highly suitable and comfy.

Well they’ve been sitting at home and not been worn since. At least in the previous job, I’d still wear them at the office since the aircon is so cold there and I could live out my four season fashion outburst there.
Now that I’ve moved to another job and this job is more like safari meets shelter in Jurassic Park kind of environment, there’s no need to wear these shoes.

This morning i had left my slippers and flats at the office. I usually just wear my work uniform to work.
But i’m kinda sick of it atm…
Differently from Singaporeans and Aussies, i don’t like to wear slippers. I’m wearing it at work now. So that’s very often for me. But i don’t like it really, it’s more for convenience rather than comfort. Especilly when it rains. I hate it. In my mind. It’s weird and ew to get my feet wet when it’s raining. (Ok if i’m on the beach etc. ) so i’m the alien who wears rainboots. Haha

Sure it might be hot here, but mostly it’s just humid. And i’d honestly wear these fluffy shoes over leather shoes or any covered shoes in this weather. Cause at least my feet are dry

I guess what i’m trying to say is that i’ve been way too concerned about what people would say or think. That I’m weird and what not. But then i realized, just because it’s the majority doesn’t necessarily make then right. Is there even a right or wrong?
To me it’s about preferences.
I don’t think people are weird and say “Eeeeeeeewwww!!!!!” In people’s faces when they’re walking around in slippers when it’s pouring down outside.

Right?

No need to be too concerned, don’t sweat the small stuff haha
Plus. Just wearing these booties makes me feel like I’m walking on clouds

I enrolled my daughter to McDo’s Kiddie Crew Workshop so she’d be exposed to people and she’d hopefully shed off her shyness. She will be joined by her cousin, Gelay, and I hope they’d have some bonding moments together since they seldom see each other. The workshop will run for five days so that’s five days less of just watching Phineas and Ferb in the telly.

After the orientation, we went to the closing of the La Trinidad Strawberry Festival Trade Fair and got some pretty key chains to hang on her bag so it wouldn’t look so generic. Actually, all the kids have the same bags so it would be easier for her to find hers if it has something different on it. We got four key chains, actually they are cellphone blings, for P60.00. The small ones cost P10.00 each and the poofy one costs P30.00. The sellers at the fair are all busy packing up so the prices are set very low. We would’ve gotten more stuff if we needed more slippers, wagwag, wooden spoon and forks, and lots of planggana.

Avon Haul

I didn’t have a list when I went in the shop so I just got some random things that I think I could use sometime in the future – all of them I haven’t tried before [perstaymer langs.] Most of the things I got were on sale and the fact that I still got a discount from the sale price is awesome.

I got a body wash and bubble bath for my kids since they are hard up in handling a bar of soap. They mostly use liquid soaps on a loofah now when they shower and they also have an inflatable mini pool to bathe in so this is a pretty good purchase. I got the Avon Naturals Kids Body Wash & Bubble Bath in Swirling Strawberry – wow, that’s a mouthful. It smells like the Juicy Fruit chewing gum in Strawberry – which is a good thing because I love that gum. We’ll try this as soon as the kids finish their current bottle of body wash.

I got a face toner because, obviously, my face isn’t even-toned. I have some discolorations on my face due to acne – I love popping pimples – and scars from allergy rashes that I want to get rid off. Before this, I have only used one bottle of toner in my life and it was a Pond’s White Beauty Pore Conditioning Toner when I was 17 – my make-up-like-Avril-Lavigne stage. When I ran out of it, I just continued using my go-to cleanser which is a Master Facial Cleanser, I know, it’s made for men, BITE ME! I haven’t used a toner/cleanser/astringent since I got pregnant with my beautiful, darling daughter and today, I break that record. I got the Avon Naturals Whitening Toner in Rose & Rose Hips – I didn’t know roses had hips! LOL. I didn’t know that what I got was the “whitening” kind until now, I just saw the pinkness of the bottle and I got it – I don’t need anymore whiteness in my life. Anyway, since I know that my face is darker than my neck, it should probably work – kabaliktaran ako nung “maputi ang mukha, maitim ang leeg! Haha.“

I got a face powder. I normally don’t use face powders because my face is always dry but NOW is a different story. Since April came, and the days and nights got hotter, my face went totally bonkers. My daily routine before I go to school is to put some moisturizing cream on my face – that’s it – and it would do me good – no dry skin, no shiny face, just the good stuff – no fuss, it stays that way the whole damn day. But then, this time, after walking a few meters away from my house, my face would totally shine like a beacon. I don’t know why some days it works, some days it doesn’t – insane. Anyway, I got the Avon Simply Pretty Smooth & White Whitening Pressed Powder Refill in Almond. I got the refill because it’s P44.00 cheaper compared to the whole thing – I mean, with the compact mirror and all that – and I don’t need those anyway. I hope this thing works on my face. Can’t wait to try it.

I got a red lipstick because Anne Curtis. ‘Nuff said. LOL! I’m into lipsticks more than colored lip balms lately and I want a change from my San San Long Wearing Lip Sheer in Pink Pout to this. I haven’t swatched it yet as I haven’t opened it yet but the color on the brochure is pretty pretty so I bet it would be pretty pretty. I got the Avon Simply Pretty ColorLast Lipstick in Celebrity Red which is said to be transfer-resistant. If I got that right, when I sip on my cup, it won’t leave a mark, right? I hope you deliver because I don’t like looking at lipstick marks on my cups. Just eewww, you know? The last thing on my Avon Haul is a lip tint. I got the Avon Simply Pretty Dew Kiss Lip Tint in Rosy Kiss. Like the lipstick, I still haven’t swatched it yet since I haven’t opened it either. Truthishly, I still have a good coat of lipstick on and I don’t wanna just wipe it off so if you want a swatch or a review of this product, same as above, just leave a comment below. I wanted to try this lip tint because the last lip tint I got which is an ODBO Tint & Gloss didn’t work on my lips. It doesn’t stay on my upper lip and it stains so bad on my lower lip – it’s crazy. I don’t know if it’s the lip tint or my lips but something is definitely wrong with one.

I am just in love with that color…let alone the whole Ka’oir makeup line! I first heard about Snookilicious obviously through Snooki’s twitter when she was tweeting about it last year…that’s how I came across to discover Keyshia Ka’oir’s (aka Keyshia Dior) makeup line Kaoir Cosmetics in general…and I knew that I was going to start collecting all of her makeup! I started off with Sookilicious NOT because it’s snooki’s own lip color, but because of that shade of pink that I was highly fascinated with! Pink is my absolute fav color in the whole wide world lol and I knew that The lipstick was meant for me which is why I choose that lipstick as the kickoff to my Kaoir collection at home.
It’s a very pretty light bold pink made for women of all shades. I had no shame whatsoever ini rocking this sexy sassy pink lipstick color the minute I received it. Of course with me being a beautiful dark skin black woman, I did receive some negative feedback: Brivonn, you look like u were in a circus with that light pink color! Why bother to buy a color that doesn’t suit you?? You’re really going to wear that color out are you?? HECK YEAH I am and proudly will because Last I heard… the lovely Miss Keyshia Kaoir does not discriminate on who wears her makeup line so please the negative comments are definitely coming in one ear and right out the other! But enough about that… this 4 oz tube of lipstick is actually on sale on her website for $18.99 (original priced at $21.99) so now is the time to hurry and grab her sweet pink lip color! You can also go on twitter and hashtag the word “kaoir” and you might be able to find kaoir makeup followers with discount codes posted on their tweets! I highly recommend you to use the codes to your advantage to save some money (it’s better than not saving at all *shrugs shoulders*).

The next color that I might be purchasing will either be Knight (black lipstick) or Sex (dark plum red) and I will be pistingmy next blog review about it! I always go there whenever I need hair products because they have a wide range of products to choose from. I tried a lot of products from their shelves already and I went back for the Monea Curl Defining Milk Hair Lotion. I’ve tried this before and it did wonders to my permed hair. It tames the fly-aways, gives the hair a wet-look, and holds the curls for hours. It smells like shampoo and it doesn’t give off any medicine-like odors. After I shower, I just towel-dry my hair, comb it, apply the product using my hands while scrunching it to shape the curls, and I’m done and ready to go. The only thing I hate about this product is that it doesn’t  have a whatchamacallit-push-button-thingy for easy dispensing. When the bottle is almost out, I have to tap it hard on my palm and it goes all over the place – floor and ceiling. The bottle contains 200ml of the product and it can last for months.

I got some hair thingies. These are just some plain black snap clips that I use to clip my side bangs away from my eyes. I always regret getting bangs but when they grow out, I get them again. IKR, cray. I hope I don’t lose these things anymore because they cost a lot compared to the normal palengke clips that I used to buy. Life’s greatest question: Where do my clips and bobby pins go when they disappear?

I got some oil control sheets. This is from Finess and it’s lavender-scented. I remember getting one of these before but it got wet in my bag when I got doused in rain from a typhoon. I’ll try to remember to bring an umbrella the next time I put this in my bag. I actually have dry skin and these things doesn’t work on my face most of the time but there are times when I slather on too much cream that my face shines like a beacon at 2 o’clock in the afternoon and this rescues me from a solar/facial flare.

I got some cotton buds. Yes, I’m the kind of person who has to clean her ears after every shower. I’ve heard/read that these aren’t supposed to be used in the ears because they can cause damage and that the ears clean themselves anyway so you don’t have to but I hate the feeling of wet ears that I have to do it. I got them in reusable containers because I have container-issues. I have tons of containers lying around containing dust.

I got some feminine wash. I got the Happy Daisies type from pH Care because it’s the only type that I haven’t tried yet and I wanna try it. Duh? It has a cute bottle and a fairly decent scent. Can’t wait to try it. Hahaha.

I got panty-liners. I ran out. ‘Nuff said.

Lastly, I got some antihistamines. My allergies are acting up again especially at night, morning, noon, and the times in between. I get itchy eyes and stuffy nose which are basically annoying and.. uhm.. sucky. These are just generic antihistamines and they are lifesavers.

That’s it for my Watsons Haul. I’ve been mostly hauling personal care items because those are the only things that I use and need. I wanna do a clothing haul but I’m always in my school uniform that I couldn’t wear them anyway, unless it’s jackets but it’s still summer and summers in Baguio can get so hot. I wanna do a makeup haul but I don’t use makeup, I can live with only a face cream and a lip stick. Anyway, I’d try to do some other hauls soon. Maybe a kitchen haul? Anyone up for that?

She had already solicited two opinions, before she sought my expert advice.  I had my work cut out for me as both family members had already told her how lovely she looked.  She was pretty keen to buy the dress once she had unanimous approval.  I had to be honest as it just looked too big and cheap (which it wasn’t).  I knew she could do better.  The dress was going back!

The second dress couldn’t have been more opposite to the first, in that it reminded me of ‘The Supremes‘ and was completely covered in bright blue sequins.  It was incredibly short at the front and long at the back, with a high neck-line and low back.  I was thinking that I could definitely borrow it later in the year for a disco party – but to a ball?  If there was a power-cut, she’d be lighting up the room for sure.

She very kindly left a trail of sequins that began to fall off the dress as she wandered around looking at herself in different angles in the mirror, assessing the view!! Yet again I had to tread carefully with my opinion, and advised that it definitely looked better than the first – but ‘was it really her’?  I hasten to add that she had already purchased this one.  I was going into unchartered territory.

You can imagine my relief when she informs me about 24 hours later that she has taken the sequin dress back to the shop as it definitely ‘wasn’t her’ and asked if she could exchange it.  She admitted to me that the shop owner had done a fantastic job of convincing her how amazing it looked, and as it was the last one in her size, she should buy it!  I wasn’t too sure what they were seeing, but that wasn’t quite the reaction I had.  My young friend made the observation that she really shouldn’t shop on her own when wanting to buy such an important purchase, as you can’t believe a word a shop assistant says.  Wise words for someone so young I thought.

p.s. This story does have a happy ending however, as we went shopping together and she found the perfect dress.  One so elegant and sophisticated (with no polyester or sequins in sight) that I am sure she will be the ‘belle of the ball’ on the night.  These were the 3 finalists – can you guess which one she bought?

The Polka Dot Bride

I always keep fresh flowers in my home, especially in the spring time. Flowers are a beautiful way add an uplifting and invitational vibe to your space. Most of the time I use fresh-cut flowers, that way I’m not held accountable when they die three days later- because that’s just what fresh flowers do, they die relatively quickly. And it’s expected. A month ago I purchased an orchid. I’m surprised it’s stayed alive as long as it has,  but  it too is now showing signs of my black thumb.

The other day I noticed that the adorable stationery shop across the street from my house had beautiful hanging paper flowers in the windows. I should have snapped a picture, but I try to stay away from stationery shops- Crane & Co. is my weakness. Normally, I’m not a fake flower person. My thought process for traditional plastic and fabric fake flowers goes like this: fake flowers = funeral. But faux paper flowers are whimsical, springy, and just plain cute.

What are your thoughts on decorating with faux flowers?
