Austin folksinger Eliza Gilkyson gets a fair amount of airplay locally. The other songs I’ve heard by her haven’t done much for me (although they weren’t bad by any means), but I adore this song, which deserved much more than just regional success.

Ignore the fan-made honeymoon video and just enjoy the song. It’s a gem.

Senator McCain don’t forget Arizona and the Solana Plant. Coal will kill the planet — but Solar, Tide and Wind will not. We need the medicine our Native American peoples have.

For you to stand up for us, in the United States means everything. We can be leaders on the energy front if we align with Greenpeace.

We have to turn back from the Ethanol corn before it kills the planet. This is part of the Hopi prophecy woven into the rugs in their patterns. Only you are strong enough to turn the tide, Senator McCain. Come home to the West, amid the cottonwoods and sycamores. Harness the power of the sun, and harness the power of the wind. Greenpeace will help you with the Tides. We can do it! We can! Be true to your Green heart — stand for all of us against those who would have you corrupted by the big money interests who fund your competition.

He doesn’t stand for us, as you do. Please, come home to the sun!

The facts on Coal are here…from Coal is dirty!

#2: SOLAR POWER

“…Scientific American reported in December 2007 that “Solar energy’s potential is off the chart. The energy in sunlight striking the earth for 40 minutes is equivalent to global energy consumption for a year.”

The magazine presented its ambitious “Solar Grand Plan” that could provide 69 percent of the U.S.’s electricity and 35 percent of its total energy (including transportation) with solar power by 2050, all for less than what the ongoing Iraq war has already cost.

In their 2008 paper on solar potential, solar industry scientist David Mills and co-author Robert Morgan calculated that over 90 percent of the energy needs of the U.S. electric grid and auto fleet (if converted to electric vehicles) could be met by solar thermal power stations, which use fields of mirrors to capture the sun’s energy as heat to boil water and drive steam turbines at low cost.

The key obstacle to this and many other renewable energy schemes is how to store the energy generated during daylight hours so it can be used at night or saved for a rainy day. But rapid progress in research and development of storage systems is quickly erasing this problem.

Mills’ company, Ausra, believes its solar power plants will have the capacity to store energy for 16 hours sometime in the next year or so, and then can be scaled up quickly with the potential to supply 96 percent of America’s power needs at about 8 cents a kilowatt hour – roughly the current cost of fossil fuel-generated electricity.

Want to read more about Solar Power? Check out our Solar Power Resources and Links page…”

Let them build the Solana Plant, and prove that we don’t need the toxic ways anymore. Not just for the West, but for all of America.

We must help the leaders of the Indian Nations reclaim the ancient knowledge — or the Prophecy will come true, Senator McCain. Perhaps this is why you carried sacred stones with you in your travels.

The pressure on you must be immense, from all sides. But, you can help the Grand Canyon and the Indians by being as Green as I know you are. I found what you said back in 2004, just remember the beauty of the sky over Arizona and the beauty of the rocks, and to make this decision is so simple…

You said, in this article from Alternet:

McCain’s Lonely War on Global Warming

“…Once he found a home, however, McCain seemed to grow taproots, deep down into the desert sand. He bought a retreat on Oak Creek, near Sedona. His favorite season there, he says, is the spring: “Lots and lots of flowers. Lots and lots of wildlife, especially birds — wild ducks, quail, hummingbirds, yellow-billed cuckoos, which are very rare. A pair of black hawks. There are javelina, coyote. A cougar passes through once in a while. Deer, beaver. It’s the most beautiful place on earth.”

So maybe, if you were looking for the reason that John McCain has become the Senate’s only western Republican to take environmental issues seriously, you could point to the pure power of landscape. “The ecology of the desert is very fragile. Obviously climate change could have a very serious effect there,” he says…

“What you really need is a sea change in public opinion,” says McCain. “Global warming has to become a campaign issue, and it never has, either in congressional campaigns or senatorial campaigns or presidential campaigns.” And that’s not entirely the fault of Republicans — in 2000, even Al Gore tried to distance himself from his own strong views on climate change, fearing it was a political loser. As activist Stembridge recalls, “Captain Climate had a sidekick, Boy Atmosphere. But when he tried to approach Gore at the last debate, the campaign had its volunteers surround us with a cordon of supporters so no one could see us.” It’s hard work, politicking, and often bitter work (ask any of the legion of Howard Dean supporters). But it may be the only work that finally matters here. “Writing letters, making phone calls, organizing neighborhood campaigns — average Americans can have a strong impact on policy,” insists Jeffords. Especially since, again thanks to John McCain, the laws on campaign finance have been tightened, at least a little, to diminish the power of corporations and unions.

“We’ve made a modest effort with this bill,” says McCain. “But until enough citizens who are voters care, then these special interests will be able to block any meaningful policy change. It’s as simple as that.” He pauses and adds, “The race is on. Are we going to have significant climate change and all its consequences, or are we going to try to do something early on? Right now I don’t think we’re going to act soon enough without significant degradation of our environment. I hope I’m wrong..”

It is not too late to reverse this, Senator McCain…

McCain Turns Back on Grand Canyon

or this!

At Big Mountain…

You must not let this happen to the Navaho, and the Hopi because of the prophecy…All of the pumaclan know what the competition will do Senator McCain. He has the money from the lobbyists to destroy everything. You will not. We know that.

You must read this from COSMOS about the bees dying.

Mystery of the dying bees

We have to turn back, Senator McCain, and follow the pollen path of the Navajo…the Indian nations would stand with you and all of the Green peoples of the West just as our Governor has in California.

There is a synchronicity to Cornville, Mesa Verde and Black Mesa where these things all align under the sun, and time itself.

The blue star kachina must remove his mask and dance in the plaza under the sun which gives life.

Only one man is strong enough to reverse the coming devastation, Senator McCain. That man is YOU.

You can read about the arch of metahistory and moral design from this metaphysical site, but I would consult the sacred stones you carry, first.

The stones will speak…
