C’est ce que le temps d’aujourd’hui m’évoque… Gris, les feuilles jonchant l’herbe du parc, un vent frais qui vient vous glacer le visage, bref on a vu mieux ! N’empêche, j’apprécie car il y a moins de monde, et on est tranquille pour se balader quoi !

Et puis, ça faisait un moment que je n’avais pas fait de photos à l’extérieur. D’ailleurs, vous devez sûrement être lassées de voir mon beau chauffage tout défraichi… Mais l’hiver arrivant, c’est vrai qu’on est plus motivé à faire des photos en restant bien au chaud ^^.

Sales Stats for October in Maryland are in and they look pretty decent.

If you don’t think the first time home buyer’s tax credit along with excellent interest rates has had an impact on the number of homes available for sale, we may have to think again! While not every first time buyer buys a townhome, it’s a good judge of the impact. Take a look at the numbers and judge for yourself. 

In all three counties, Baltimore, Carroll and Harford, the inventory of townhomes available has dropped over 15% compared to October of last year.

Single family home inventory has dropped between 13-23% over the three counties as well.

The medium sales price in all three counties did drop from about 7.5 – 10% compared to last year’s data, but considering there are parts of the country where there is anywhere from 20-50%+ drop in prices, we’re doing pretty well! Also, keep in mind we went through over 4 years of double digit increases per month as high as 24% per month in prices prior to this.

This is important to all homeowners and their property values. As inventory begins to dwindle, prices will steady.

Boy was today exciting! I got to go to a famous  *** in Beverly Hills and got my *** done! I had no idea it would be such a dramatic difference and make me look so different. This famous *** guru of the stars definitely knows her stuff.

We then went on location in Bel Air where I was sequestered for what seemed like forever in a separate room from everyone else. They didn’t want me to see what was going to happen next. So I got to take a nap and catch up on some zzzz’s.  When it was time, they took me out and I got to talk a little bit about *** and with *** that I went through and how I’m having a little trouble with *** now . With that said, they brought out *** who’s written a book called *** and she was amazing!  It was such an amazing breakthrough for me and a very emotional one–so when you see those tears, just know they’re real! The day ended with me being surprised by one of THE MOST important people in my life–and tears started streaming down again like a waterfall. **sigh** I LOVE the crew and this show…

Rien de très compliqué, mais la blouse est assez raffinée pour rendre le jean un peu plus élégant et parfait au bureau, et c’est exactement ce dont j’avais envie.

So here we were – my real estate partner and I:  One of our clients from New York is looking for a very specific style house within the gates of Bel Air, and since nothing is currently on the market that would qualify we went searching the streets of Bel Air for a home that meets our client’s requirements re architecture.  We find it, and ring the doorbell.  Someone answers!  We’re in luck…We ask if the owner is available and sure enough, the voice confirms that the owner is home and proceeds to open the gate.  We walk up to the door and yes, someone opens.  It turns out to be the housekeeper and she invites us in with a big welcoming smile, and tells us to step into the living room.  The home looks impeccably maintained.  Two lovely dogs run up to us and – like all good realtors do – we entertain the dogs.  After some long, long minutes go by we start to realize that there must be a misunderstanding and we again explain to the housekeepr that we are realtors and would like to speak to the owner.  Oh, now she understands and she disappears in what seems to be a bedroom to notify the owner.  We talk amongst ourselves and are under the impression that maybe the owner is elderly and needs some help getting to the living room.  We wait a little longer and oh my … out of the ‘bedroom storms this absolutely beautiful blonde woman asking us what in the world we are doing in the middle of her living room!!!  We politely ask her if she’s interested in selling her home and she says in no uncertain terms: “No, NEVER!!!”  Ok, ok, we get the picture and try to get out of there as quickly as possible almost falling over ourselves.  The worst part is the housekeeper …we can’t help but fear for her employment as she so graciously allowed us (2 not unattractive women but unknown to her) into the gorgeous home of her employer.  We both KNOW she’s going to get a real dressing down, and hope for the best …that the owner forgave her and we’ll make sure next time the housekeeper knows what she’s doing!!!

And what are my real estate partner and I doing now?  On to the very few other suitable homes in Bel Air, ringing door bells and knocking on doors, determined to get our client the house he so much desires.

You never know … next time your doorbell rings it just might be my real estate partner and me …looking for that VERY SPECIAL property!

October 16, 2009 Friday

Around 6 AM – Log out time from the Phone. I’m quite excited to get off the office. I tried to collate all pending work and requested someone to take over some errands while I’m officially out of the office for 3 days. A problem occurred, but I wasn’t really into it – cause its controllable. It seems like the 3rd day of my vacation leave was tagged as my regular day. I shoot an email to my immediate superior Sir Toto. He immediately did a follow up. 7 In the Morning – Have to leave the office and headed back home.

8AM – Took the heavy dinner (for normal sleeping people, its called Breakfast)

9 AM – Hit the sack and sleep.

1 PM – Lunch.

3 PM – Headed Reyes Haircutters’ and waited an hour on the line for a haircut.

4 PM – Tried to do a window shopping on the local market. Got a cool hot bargain.

5 PM – Packed things on the bag. Little did I know that my Hair Gel was not included.

6PM – Took a Trisikad and headed to Grandma’s house at NHA.

7 PM – Light dinner with Aunt Shakey and Aunt Kitty together with my younger cousins Ling-Ling,Liezl and Jan-Jan.

8 PM – Have to read a book for Jan-Jan. He let me read all his assignments. The cool thing was – it’s the English Language.

9 PM – 11 PM – Watched local TV Programs. Half Bath.

11:30 PM – Nap.

October 17, 2009 Saturday

Day1 – Quite relaxing and exhausting.

3:30 AM – Hot milk.

4 AM – Rode the taxi to Cagayan de Oro Airport at Lumbia.

4:15 AM – Arrived at the Airport – still closed from passengers. We were way to early.

4:30 AM – Gates were opened. Have to walk a hundred meters and lined up.

5:00 AM – Line up for the check in. We all had hand carry bags.

5:15 AM – Thermal scanner – the least favorite part in the airport – Just for safety purposes.

5:30 AM – 5:55 AM – Relax and chill. Saw QA Lady Elaine Mateo and OM Dexter Gabica on the middle seats.

6 AM – Have to board the airplane. Plane was relatively cool – just a start up.

6: 20 AM – Cebu Pacific’s Flight Attendants start talking on the plain. Have to listen very carefully for emergency cases. I was really amazed. I observed that only good looking people were qualified for the job.

6:25 AM – Plane trip started – On board for Manila.

7: 40 AM – Plane arrived 15 minutes ahead of the scheduled time.

8 AM – We we’re fetch by a Red Mazda Car.

8:30 AM – Arrival at the Citadel Inn in Bel-Air, Makati. Picture-Picture.

8: 45 AM – Room for 3 at the 25th Floor #2511.

9 AM – Took a breakfast at the room. I ordered a Jollibee Heave Breakfast and a Brewed Coffee. Have to learn how to drink the coffee.

9 AM to 1 PM – Chitchat with Aunt Nita and Uncle Danny and meet other  hotel guest.

1:30 PM – Ordered a Jollibee Meal.

2 PM – Chitchat with Elders.

3 PM – Off our way to Tutuban Mall. Have to pass Makati Business District, Pasay and Malate, Manila.

3:30 PM – Taxi left us a block away from the Mall. We have to walk a block away – busy streets around.

3:45 PM – Tutuban Mall 2nd Floor. Window shopping… a lot of walking and shopping. The cheapest deal around Metro Manila.

5:30 PM -7:30 PM- Headed back to the Hotel. Stuck in the traffic. Passed Tondo, Manila (silent), National Offices and Famous Spots/Landmarks.

9 PM – Dinner at Hotels Rooftop -Citadel’s Sky Lounge – Took Lechon Kawali and orange juice for dinner. Overlooking Makati’s Business District Skyline fronting the Shangri-La and Metrobank Plaza.

10 PM – Watched PBB Double Up’s 1st Nomination Night but eyes were already sleepy.

October 18, 2009 Sunday

1 AM – Feeling odd. Have to take the restroom then back to sleep.

4:30 AM – Too early to wake up.  Took a clear picture of Metro Manila’s skyline at the balcony while Grandma and Aunt Is still sleeping.

6 AM – Opened the laptop and connected to the wifi. Have to update Plurk and Facebook regularly

7 AM – Aunt Shakey phoned McDo’s McDelivery. McDo set the expectations that it would arrive 30 mins but it arrived 15 mins after the call. Took a heavy breakfast + coffee.

8 – 8:45 AM – Took a bath – Bath tub.

9 AM -12 NN – Wifi – Upload pictures while waiting for our relatives. Getting ready for Greenbelt or Rockwell.

12:15 PM – The GO’s arrived. Chitchat till…

2 PM – Breaking News: Hold UP Crisis at Greenbelt. Greenbelt cancelled.

3 PM – End of chitchat and the GO’s need to go home.

4 PM – Manila Ocean Park. Took the entrance by cash, not knowing cards are accepted. Will not spoil the fun.

6 PM – Manila Ocean Park exit.

7 PM – Manila Ocean Parks Starbucks closed. Took the Pancake House and ordered the Hot Beef Stew with a Taco Sandwich and Salad.

8PM – 8:30 PM – Hike from Manila Ocean Park to Quirino Grandstand to Roxas Blvd.

9 PM – Arrived at the Hotel.

11 PM – Pack up for Home and Nap

October 19, 2009 Monday

Back Home

1 AM – Toothbrush and getting ready for the trip back home.

2 AM – Check out from the Hotel.

2:30 AM – Arrived at the Departure Area of Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.

3 AM – Check in the airport.

3:15 AM – Took a Tacoma Coffee and a Cinnamon at World Famous Cinnabons.

4 AM – Board Airplane.

5:55 AM – Arrived at Cagayan de Oro Airport as scheduled.

Efterhånden som vi nærmer os datoen for det årlige SEMA Show, så er indernettets mange bilsider ved at flyde over med seneste nyt om de deltagende firmaer. Som det har været for vane hen over sommeren så er det Ford der ligger sig i front, hvor det gælder om at komme hen til scenekanten og ud til publikum. Både General Motors og Chrysler har ligget og lurepasset med et par forkølede pressemeddelser, men de har jo også nogle produkter som vil blive så rigeligt repræsenteret af forskellige tunerfirmaer.

 Snart sagt et hvert tunerfirma med respekt for sig selv baglommen fuld af døde præsidenter, har en stand på SEMA messen der løber af stablen fra den 3. til den 6. november i Las Vegas. Der er dog også enkelte firmaer der allerede nu skiller sig ud fra mængden.

Således er der stillet store forventninger op til The Ring Brothers, hvad det er de vil præsentere på årets messe. Motorator har dog opsnappet at det drejer sig om en 64 Fairlane der skulle lyde navnet “Afterburner”. Om den kan leve op til deres egne høje krav, og løbe af med den eftertragtede Årets Streetmachine pris vil kun tiden vise, men nu har de taget den pris to gange i træk så hvorfor ikke ?

 Ud over specialiteter som denne gamle Ford Fairlane, så ventes det naturligvis at nye Camaro’er, Mustangs og Challengers vil vælte ind i hallerne fra nær og fjern. Det velkendte gamle aftermarket navn Hurst har allerede været fremme i skoene, og i samarbejde med Ebay, sat en specialbygget Hurst/Camaro til salg i en velgørenhedsauktion. Den indbragte dog kun $62.000, hvilket ikke er særligt meget taget i betragtning af de enorme summer special Mustanger har indbragt det seneste stykke tid.

 Som skrevet i indledningen så har Ford allerede været fremme og råbt “HER KOMMER VI” med en pressemeddelse der fortæller at de har forberedt ikke mindre end 10 forskellige tunerversioner af den nye 2010 Mustang, sammen med et par Lincoln, naturligvis med giga fælge, og andre af Fords produkter.

 Fra afgrundens dyb kalder Chrysler på opmærksomheden, de kommer med et par Jeeps, en Drift-Challenger og man fristes til at sige naturligvis, en Ram Pick up, det skal nok blive vel modtaget af MOPAR folket, og den der “Lower Forty” Jeep er sguda også for sej!

 General Motors går lidt anderledes til værks, de har i al hemmelighed udgivet en video på youtube, hvor hovedrollen indehaves af en eller anden ny form for crate motor, når man ikke ved hvad det egentlig handler om så hedder set vist viral markedsføring. Det er pisse-irriterende at det bliver så spændende

Den nye Camaro bliver naturligvis ikke glemt i Las Vegas, men Lingenfeldter tager den lige et skridt videre når han præsentere sin version, den kommer nemlig til at ligne en 70-72 Pontiac Trans Am. På dette teaser billede er det jo kun en tegning, det skal blive spændende at se den for real.

 Motoren bliver naturligvis en 455, dog ikke Pontiacs gamle velkendte støbejerns ting, men en Chevrolet aluminiumsblok  boret og strokket til den eftertragtede dimension.

TV Theme Songwriter Vic Mizzy Dies

October 20, 2009 – Vic Mizzy, whose theme songs for TV’s Green Acres and The Addams Family made an incalculable contribution to 1960s popular culture, died Saturday, October 17,  at 93.

Mizzy was a practitioner of a lost art: writing TV theme songs with lyrics that sum up the premise of the show. His themes were upbeat and jazzy, and still influence TV theme songs today.

Jeff Richmond [That's "Mr. Tina Fey," to you and me], who wrote the theme song to 30 Rock, says Mizzy knew the secret to a great theme song: “You want to be able to hear it in the kitchen and know, ‘Oh, my show’s on,” Richmond says.

In an earlier interview with the Archive of American Television, Mizzy said he wanted the timing in the Addams Family opening sequence to be perfect. So he insisted on using a tool called a click track.

“Well, the director — Sidney Lanfield — he didn’t know from click track,” Mizzy said. “He said, ‘Look, Vic, you wrote it. Why don’t you just do it?’ Well, that’s what I did. I directed the main title on camera.”

For the Addams Family theme song, Mizzy recorded his own voice and overdubbed it three times. He played the harpsichord, too. He used to joke that he bought his mansion in Bel Air with a couple of snaps of his fingers. That’s where he died of heart failure Saturday. Mizzy’s funeral was on Tuesday in California.

THURSDAY, 9/24

Day 22.

I worked feverishly last night and this morning on editing my book. I still have no idea how to weave it into a readable story. I’ve been terrified to read through what I wrote so many months ago in New York,  but after mustering up the courage to read it I discovered it wasn’t as bad as I thought it was.

When I was writing this book in May, June and July, I gave myself only one assignment- write everyday. By hook or by crook I was sitting in front of my computer staring out at the Empire State Building out my 12th floor picture window in my subletted Brooklyn apartment. Typing like I was in a trance. Some of the days, I actually was in a trance. The words would pour from my fingers and I’d have to stay conscious enough to keep up with them. That was all that was required of me. I remember mornings where I’d be crying like a baby as the words flowed out. Like the little girl inside who’d been silenced for so long was finally having her say.

It was beautiful and very healing.

For the longest, I’ve wanted to give her the space to speak her truth but the circumstances in my world never lined up for this to happen until this summer.

I woke up this morning and didn’t bother exercising. I justified it by saying I needed to keep my commitment (which I’d already broken) and do what I needed to do to get this book in the mail. I gave myself the deadline of sending it off to a writer I met this summer in a singing circle by Wednesday. After tap class Wednesday night, I sat down to put in all the edits I’d compiled from reading through the pages of my life. I quickly assessed that there was no way on earth I would be able to read it all and drive down to the LAX post office by midnight.

After this realization, I sat on the couch in defeat (and probably a little protest) and watched Oprah.

This morning I got through the changes of the first 70 pages. I decided this was a sufficient chunk to get her started and enough for me to feel good about getting it in the mail.

I have no idea how she’ll respond. The book deals with some really powerful subject matter and I have this sneaking suspicion that it’s going to push a lot of buttons for a lot of people. I don’t know if I am ready for all that may come from releasing this energy into the world, but I pray to god that every thing happens in its perfect time.

I will probably send it out to my sister and a few other writers to get some initial feedback.  I have to go through the other 75% of it by this weekend so that I can get that out into circulation too.

I went with Rich to the beach today to meet up with his cousins who are visiting the west coast from England. They apparently met an LA couple on a cruise some time ago and those people invited them to stay at their home. In Bel Air. I’ve never even been to Bel Air. The closest I’ve gotten is when I worked at UCLA and would drive down Sunset or watching the Fresh Prince.

I noticed I felt threatened by this fact and didn’t want to invite them over to our place. Not that our home isn’t beautiful, but it sure ain’t in Bel Air. We live in a working class neighborhood. We live where people don’t necessarily value their homes or more importantly, don’t own them so they feel unmoved to care about the neighborhood. Maybe that’s even wrong. Maybe the people own their homes, but have a different set of values when it comes to maintaining their properties.

We live where people put fences around their homes to keep out everyone else in the neighborhood. I guess people in Bel Air do that too…it’s a gated community for god’s sake.  My neighborhood has taco stands, and Tom’s burgers (not Tommy’s), and grafitti and apartment buildings with kids pink scooters on balconies. My neighborhood has hammocks on people’s front lawns, old beat up cars that get worked on in the middle of the street, loud hip hop music that bleeds through my windows from someone’s car each day and dogs that bark in chorus every time a person rides by on their bikes.

I didn’t want to have Rich feel embarrassed because this is where he lives now too. He hasn’t said he’s embarrassed and in fact he’s said he thought it was amazing that I had the foresight to purchase this place when I was so young.  And he is a man who wants nice things and works to get those nice things. He wants us to be moved out of here and into a nicer area (possibly the beach) in the next year.

He really frightened me when he said that. All my defenses showed up ready for battle. I felt with that one statement, he was saying he didn’t like where we lived, he thought it was beneath him and he didn’t like the people who lived around us. It cut deep into something that is very tender for me.

In all honesty, I would love to live in a better, nicer neighborhood where you have beautiful scenery and convenient amenities. But I attach that to mean that I don’t want to be down with my people, with the people, that in some way, I want to sell out.

Oh, the plight of the tragic mulatto. Drama.

Joppatowne High School just received a $143,000 grant for the expansion of the homeland security and emergency preparedness program at the school.  The school’s magnet program prepares students in science and technology fields and should help the county meet job demands related to BRAC, the nationwide military base expansion that will bring as many as 10,000 jobs to Aberdeen Proving Ground.

As many are asking what benefits the area will see to justify the expenses of major road improvements and such are costing the State of Maryland and Harford County, this is just an example. I believe as many others that the housing and job markets are also seeing and will continue to see improvement in the area.

Fiddler on the Roof Farewell Tour – Don’t Miss it! If you have seen the play, the movie, or read the book, you haven’t enjoyed it to its fullest if you haven’t seen the play live with Topal as Tevye!  Topal played Tevye in the movie version.  I have watched the movie, but still was overwhelmed when I saw the play live staring Topal several years ago.  While I am not a theatre ”buff”, and took others with me that didn’t necessarily like going to the theatre, everyone enjoyed it immensely!  The tour will be at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore starting October 20th. Treat yourself while you can still see Topal in the staring role.  What a classic! You won’t regret it!
