<p><strong>Yves St. Laurent</strong> received the macabre treatment when he dressed actress/muse <strong>Catherine Deneuve</strong> for the 1983 horror/suspense film <em>The Hunger, </em>also starring David Bowie and Susan Sarandon. Deneuve&#8217;s wardrobe showed the darkest reaches of St. Laurent&#8217;s range &#8212; acclimating to the <a href="http://nuevemusas.wordpress.com/2009/03/27/nomis-song/">hardness of the 80&#8217;s</a>,  notably designers Thierry Mugler and Claude Montana, he had French glamor and sexual subversion easing his way.</p>
<p>Perhaps it was this macabre treatment that inspired <strong>Martin Margiela</strong>&#8217;s second reiteration of the squared shoulder in his fall 2007 collection (if in fact it was <a href="http://nuevemusas.wordpress.com/2009/10/09/margielas-second-face/">him</a>). The severity and darkness of the mood is vampire worthy, and certainly those graphic shoulders don&#8217;t shy away from Deneuve&#8217;s YSL wardrobe, complete with his signature shoulder. But the real give away is the soundtrack of Bauhaus&#8217; <strong><em>Bela Lugosi&#8217;s Dead</em></strong> as it creeps along in the opening scene of <em>The Hunger</em> and on Margiela&#8217;s catwalk, connecting the two not so disparate visions of the night.</p>

<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"><img class="alignleft" style="border:0 none;" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2585/3999372172_c725419517_m.jpg" alt="" width="216" height="216" />Es medianoche y suena de fondo <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bela_Lugosi%27s_Dead" target="_blank">Bela Lugosi&#8217;s Dead</a></em> y ni siquiera la música me impide pensar en esa realidad &#8220;bárbara, brutal, muda, sin significado, de las cosas&#8221; de la que hablaba Ortega. Miro por la ventana y veo la vida inerte y me parece que ese tipo de realidad bárbara y muda es especialmente percibida hoy por quienes piensan que en el mundo ya no existe la simplicidad inherente al orden narrativo, ese simple orden que consiste en poder decir a veces: &#8220;Cuando hubo pasado aquello, pasó esto, y luego pasó lo otro, etcétera&#8221;.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">Nos tranquiliza la simple secuencia, la ilusoria sucesión de hechos. Sin embargo, hay una gran divergencia entre una confortable narración y la realidad brutal del mundo. &#8220;Todo se ha vuelto ahora no narrativo&#8221;, decía Musil, frecuentador de un universo multidimensional, fragmentario, de un mundo sin posibilidades reales de acceder a un orden como el que acaso pudo alguna vez existir y que Rilke creyó entrever en <em><a href="http://www.agapea.com/libros/Los-apuntes-de-Malte-Laurids-Brigge-isbn-8420634050-i.htm" target="_blank">Apuntes de Malte Laurids Brigge</a>:</em> &#8220;Que se narrara, lo que se dice narrar, esto debió hacerse en otros días. Yo nunca he oído narrar a nadie&#8221;.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">Soy consciente de que a lo sumo -hijo de mi tiempo- no he alcanzado a oír más que simples balbuceos pretendidamente cabales, y quizás por eso siempre me pareció sumamente cínico o irónico oír hablar, por ejemplo, de &#8220;nueva narrativa&#8221; o de pendejadas por el estilo. Sin embargo, estoy tan convencido del divorcio entre la confortable narración de algo y esa realidad no narrativa del mundo actual como del progresivo resurgimiento de la narración en la escena central de la cultura. Es decir, que del mismo modo que creo que la no narratividad (al menos desde el punto de vista convencional) de <em><a href="http://books.google.es/books?id=CTrT6wh172AC&#38;dq=Finnegans+Wake&#38;printsec=frontcover&#38;source=bn&#38;hl=es&#38;ei=YjDQSumqEtKr4Qb1jaGmAw&#38;sa=X&#38;oi=book_result&#38;ct=result&#38;resnum=4&#38;ved=0CBkQ6AEwAw#v=onepage&#38;q=&#38;f=false" target="_blank">Finnegans Wake</a></em> de Joyce es puro arte, también considero sumamente artístico, por ejemplo, un libro con tanto ingenio narrativo como <strong><em><a href="http://www.casadellibro.com/libro-les-fiancailles-de-monsieur-hire/877774/2900000893183" target="_blank">Monsieur Hire</a></em></strong> de Simenon.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">¿Me contradigo? ¿Acaso Joyce y Simenon son tan compatibles? Que <em><a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnegans_Wake" target="_blank">Finnegans Wake</a></em> es puro arte me parece una evidencia. He vivido en variadas ocasiones, en mis obstinadas relecturas parciales de este libro, la sensación <em>inenarrable</em> (y nunca mejor dicho) de percibir que estaba ante el tipo de escritura que mejor se relaciona con la verdad de la vida incomprensible. Y aquí ahora sólo recordaré que Beckett decía que los escritores realistas engendran obras <em>discursivas</em> porque se centran en hablar sobre las cosas, sobre un asunto, mientras que el arte auténtico no hace eso: el arte auténtico es la cosa y no algo sobre las cosas: <em>&#8220;Finnegans Wake</em> no es arte sobre algo, es el arte en sí&#8221;.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"><img class="alignright" src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3433/3996844959_9d54cf510e_m.jpg" alt="" width="159" height="240" /></span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">¿Y <em>Monsieur Hire?</em> Quizás se aleje ligeramente del &#8220;arte en sí&#8221; y sea una obra <em>discursiva,</em> sí, pero en ella todo es narrado con una enigmática sencillez fácil (valga la redundancia), precisamente con la simplicidad inherente al orden que echamos tan en falta en la realidad de hoy, tan poco solidaria con aquellas antiguas estructuras narrativas que Rilke sospechó que alguna vez existieron.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">Siempre me he forzado a la contradicción para evitar conformarme con mi propio gusto. Y por eso no puedo más que admirar a <a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Banville" target="_blank">John Banville</a> que siempre ha defendido el estilo por encima de la trama, pero permite que a Benjamin Black, el seudónimo con el que se desdobla, le preocupen cosas como argumento, personajes, diálogo. A veces Banville se refiere a Black, que es admirador de <a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Simenon" target="_blank">Simenon</a>, como mi &#8220;gemelo idiota&#8221;, pero cuando le preguntan cómo cree que Black califica a Banville, responde: &#8220;Sé que le llama <em>el pretencioso&#8221;.</em></span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">En cierto sentido, los libros esencialmente narrativos puede que sean los gemelos idiotas de los pretenciosos libros que tratan de acercarse al arte verdadero. Pero está en el fondo todo entrelazado y no tiene por qué haber una división radical, tan sólo una lábil frontera. Por esa frontera se pasean precisamente dos de los muchos &#8220;dos mundos&#8221; que aparecen en <em>Mis dos mundos,</em> la novela de <a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sergio_Chejfec" target="_blank">Sergio Chejfec</a> que despertó poderosamente mi atención hace unos meses y que acabo de releer.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">Alguien ha insinuado con malicia que algún día lo que quede de Banville sean tan sólo <strong>las novelas que publicó con el seudónimo de Black</strong>. A nadie, en cambio, se le ha ocurrido sugerir lo contrario, lo que demuestra que todo el mundo sospecha que la vía Finnegans -por llamarla de algún modo- tiene menos posibilidades de subsistir en el tiempo que la vía Hire. Y, sin embargo, eso no evita que para algunos la ruta Finnegans sea la más noble y la más afín al lenguaje caótico de la realidad y a ese <em>vago flotar</em> de nuestras vidas del que hablaba Kafka; es decir, la más afín a la realidad bárbara y muda, sin significado, de las cosas.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"><a href="http://www.revistadeletras.net/sergio-chejfec-toda-escritura-es-una-combinacion/" target="_blank">Chejfec</a> está más cerca de la ruta Finnegans, pero aborda la historia de su novela mediante un hilo Hire, es decir, que se atiene a las convenciones de lo narrativo, aunque al mismo tiempo </span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"> </span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">pone en marcha desde dentro -como dinamita pura- un mecanismo narrativo que, por su lectura implacable de la realidad, nos acerca a la verdad <strong>muda del vago flotar kafkiano</strong>. Leemos la trama al mismo tiempo que ésta se va creando. Los mismos pensamientos parecen surgir condicionados por la prisión de sentido que crean las propias palabras, tal como ha explicado el propio Chejfec al decir que en su libro las frases están empujadas hacia la expansión, porque existe un mensaje, pero está constreñido por la fórmula, por la ecuación de la propia frase.</span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"> </span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"><img class="alignleft" src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2483/3996845011_b49e1d49e1_m.jpg" alt="" width="184" height="240" /></span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">Recuerdo q</span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"> </span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">ue hoy, hacia el final de mi relectura, hacia el final de mi nuevo paseo meditativo </span><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;">por los mundos variables del parque brasileño en el que se esconde una decepción -éste sería un resumen aceptable del <a href="http://laperiodicarevisiondominical.wordpress.com/2009/08/19/sergio-chejfec-el-desvio-y-la-quietud/" target="_blank">argumento del libro de Chejfec</a> -, he visto reaparecer de golpe la disociación entre una confortable narración y la realidad bárbara, y la he vuelto a ver justo cuando el narrador dice que, al contrario del pasado, está seguro ahora de que si se pusiera a escribir en el <strong>Café do Lago</strong> nada temblaría ni cambiaría a su alrededor y que a lo mejor esa sería la prueba de que &#8220;la realidad ya no es solidaria con su actividad&#8221;. Ahí están los dos mundos de Chejfec, que no son sólo -como tanto se ha dicho- el mundo interior y el exterior, sino también el mundo de esa realidad muda e inenarrable que hoy en día tan disociada está ya de la actividad de la escritura. Y también el mundo del momento, asociado al del pasado: un mundo narrativo que parece comentar el tono lento de la luz en las sombras de ese parque o laberinto brasileño, ese tono apagado que parece pertenecer a un misterio en realidad inútil, <em>inenarrable;</em> un misterio tan grande como la propia novela, que avanza como subrayando estas palabras de Edmond Jabès: &#8220;Mirad, no tengo rostro, lo que exhibo es la cara del instante&#8221;.</span></p>
<p style="text-align:justify;"><span style="font-size:10pt;font-family:Arial;"><a href="http://www.pagina12.com.ar/diario/suplementos/libros/10-1224-2004-09-18.html" target="_blank">Chejfec</a> se decanta más por el lado Finnegans que por el Hire, aunque adopta la actitud de hábil cómplice de las dos tendencias. Ha tenido que divertirse mucho simulando narratividad para emitir un discurso que, a diferencia de otros autores con los que se le relaciona (Sebald, Saer, Aira, Handke), no pretende transmitir nada que no sea una temeraria trama que, al igual que nuestras vidas, se construye instante a instante, siempre perseguida por el pasado. Es desde luego admirable su coraje de escritor, ya que, al situarse con <em><a href="http://www.candaya.com/misdosmundos.htm" target="_blank">Mis dos mundos</a></em> tan cerca del arte en sí y tan cerca de la verdad descarnada de la vida sin sentido, se arriesga una vez más a no disfrutar de la inmediata aceptación de la que gozan el resto de sus colegas más contemporizadores. <em><a href="http://www.candaya.com/misdosmundos.htm" target="_blank">Mis dos mundos</a></em> es Finnegans con el rostro de Hire, lo que abre un espacio muy interesante para la novela del futuro.</span></p>

The problem, of course, is that Bush had a compliant Republican legislature snapping their heels at his every asinine brain fart. And now the legislature is even more Democrat &#8211; very very pissed Democrat.</p>
<p>I thought at first that this was a good thing. The reason that Congress has been so ineffective since the Democrats took control was because their majorities weren&#8217;t even close to veto-proof. So the Republican minority teamed up with a George W. Bush who suddenly remembered that he had veto power&#8230; which is why the Democrats, now with more robust majorities, are pissed. And with a Democratic president, they&#8217;ll want some payback.</p>
<p>The Republicans brought this on themselves. The problem is that they <em>also </em>brought it on us.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s going to be an interesting four years. I wonder if that remote and easily defensible cabin that I saw in Montana is still available.</p>

<p>Bauhaus&#8217; <em>Bela Lugosi&#8217;s Dead</em> is technically a 1970&#8217;s song, since it was released in 1979 (on a 12&#8243; single with <em>Boys). </em>But it&#8217;s about as far as you can get from your songs, Shanoah, and still be called pop music. Bauhaus is considered one of the first goth bands &#8211; although <em>Bela Lugosi&#8217;s Dead </em>is as much New Wave as goth &#8211; and you can almost hear the distant thunder of goth rock in it.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s just one problem with this video. It&#8217;s a the only one that I could find with the full 9+ minute version of the song. mojofilter2 apparently transfered this to digital from this original single, for which he/she/it/they deserves lots of credit. But since Bauhaus (to my knowledge) never made a video, we have to make do with a slideshow.</p>
<p>And that&#8217;s the problem with songs made before MTV or out of the mainstream: no professionally-made videos. You have to make do with slideshows on YouTube. Not that I&#8217;m complaining; slideshows have saved my bacon on this blog more times than I care to count.</p>
<p>Still, I want to give you more than that. I Want To Offer You, The Valued Customer, Value-Added Musical Entertainment Content. Luckily, the people who made the 1983 vampire film <em>The Hunger </em>were Bauhaus fans, and they made the wise decision to build their trailer around <em>Bela Lugosi&#8217;s Dead. </em>It straddles the seemingly incompatible worlds of New Wave and goth very nicely.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<div class='snap_preview'><p style="text-align:left;">Am ajuns în Bucureşti după aproape nouă ore de mers cu trenu cu un emo kid în compartiment care asculta muzică foarte tare în căşti. Avea vreo 3 playere si le tot schimba. Pe toate avea numa muzică ce mie nu-mi plăcea deloc. Aşa că o trebuit să ridic şi eu considerabil volumul în căşti, să nu aud muzica lui. După ce mi-am terminat ultimele 50 de pagini din cartea ce-o aveam începută am zis că mă pun să dorm. Din fericire am reuşit (cu mici întreruperi) aşa că drumul o părut ceva mai scurt decât în mod normal.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Marele plus o fost, pentru mine, că toate trupele o cântat piesle pe care eu voiam să le aud neapărat. Aşa că am plecat foarte mulţumită de la festivalul ăsta.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Am ajuns vineri foarte dimineaţă, am fost culeasă de pe peron şi am mers direct la cafea. Bucureştiu e un oraş groaznic. M-aş putea plânge un post întreg despre asta dar chiar nu are nici un rost. Sărim peste ce am făcut înafara festivalului propriu zis &#8211; pentru că e neinteresant pentru altcineva decât mine &#8211;  şi trecem la ziua 1 de B&#8217;EstFest</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Voiam să văd <strong>Apollo 440</strong>,<strong> Alanis Morissette</strong> şi <strong>UNKLE</strong>.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Am ajuns pe la 7 şi ceva la Romexpo. Mi-o rupt biletu şi mi-o pus o brăţară roz şi urâtă. Bine că era din material şi nu din plastic. Mi-o plăcut că se mişcau foarte repede la poartă şi nu prea era coadă. Bravo lor.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Până m-am orientat eu puţin m-am trezit cu o ediţie specială Sunete şi un ghid oficial în mâini. Ghidu ăla m-o ajuntat să mă orientez spre scena care mă ineresa. Până m-am dezmeticit am auzit o piesă jumate <strong>NSK</strong>. Sunau bine, dar nu aveau public tare mare.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><strong>Apollo 440</strong> începuseră deja să cânte. Erau pe la a doua piesă. M-am învârtit pe acolo, m-am hidratat, m-am întâlnit cu oameni mişto cu care trebuia să mă întâlnesc.<strong> Apollo 440</strong> o cântat bine, solistul era foarte energic şi concertul cred că era mult mai reuşit dacă era la o oră puţin mai târzie. Era prea cald afară, lumea nu era încălzită şi nu se prea mişca. Cam pe la ultima piesă începuse agitaţia. Au cântat piese ultra cunoscute gen<em> Stop the Rock </em>sau <em>Ain&#8217;t Talking &#8216;Bout Dub</em> plus altele mai puţin familiare mie. Nu mi-o plăcut că parcă erau rupţi din anii &#8216;90 (vestimentar vorbind), mai ales că era foarte vizibilă treaba asta. În rest, numai de bine de ei <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Am trecut la scena din dreaptă să o aştept pe <strong>Alanis</strong>. N-am fost niciodată fan în adevăratul sens al cuvântului dar tot timpu am ascultat-o cu plăcere. E ok, are muzică şi versuri frumoase, iar unele piese îmi plac chiar mult. Am auzit <em>Ironic</em>,<em> Hand In My Pocket</em> şi <em>Head Over Feet</em>. O sunat curat şi emoţional pe alocuri. Ea o fost foarte enrgică şi vocea foarte curată. Mi-o plăcut de ea <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align:left;">O urmat atracţia serii pentru mine, domnii de la <strong>UNKLE </strong>pe care eu îi îndrăgesc de ceva vreme (cam de când am laut primele contacte cu trip-hopu acu vreo 7 ani). Mă aşteptam la multişor din partea lor, deşi eram sceptică. Pentru că mă gândeam că featuringurile fac multe la ei. Mă bucur taaaare mult că m-am înşelat. O fost DEMENŢI! Extraordinari. O fost dintr-o altă lume, aterizaţi pe scena aia. Unu din chitarişti parcă era titrez. Vocalul era din alt film, erau în luma lor şi ne chemau pe toţi în ea. Am intrat foarte repede în starea respectivă şi am dansat tot, dar absolut tot concertul. La <em>Restless </em>am rămas mută. La fel şi la <em>My Shadow</em> şi la <em>In a State</em>. Pentru mine o fost concertul festivalului. Am plecat de acolo cu genunchii moi şi cu bătăi neregulate ale inimii. Târziu mi s-o stabilizat. Îmi pare rău că nu o fost sonoru mai tare, pentru că meritau să bubuie în tot Bucureştiu şi că nu s-o întors la bis (citeam pe undeva pe net că astea două îs legate una de alta şi că, la rândul ei, trupa o fost deranjată puţin de faptu că nu o avut mai mult sonor; nu ştiu dacă îs doar speculaţii sau nu).</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">N-am luat aparat foto cu mine că nu am vrut să am responsabilitatea asta şi pentru că era posbili să nu mă lase să intru cu el. O făcut emagicu destule aşa că pun link de la pozele oficiale.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Voiam să văd <strong>Manic Street Preachers</strong> şi <strong>Nouvelle Vague</strong></p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Din păcate am ratat primele două piese <strong>Manic</strong>. De fapt le-am auzit dar de la distanţă, că atunci intram. Mi-o fost puţin ciudă, pentru că voiam să aud de aproape <em>Motorcycle Emptiness</em> şi <em>You Stole the Sun From My Heart</em>, dar m-am mulţumit cu <em>Autumn Song</em> şi <em>If You Tolerate This Then Your Children Will Be Next</em> ca piesă de final (asta din ce mi-era mie musai). Mi-a plăcut tare mult. Încă se ţin foarte bine pe scenă, sună deosebit de frumos, şi reuşesc să transmită mesajul pe care îl vor. O fost un concert foarte cald pentru mine (cald as in plăcut, că era cald afară, propriu zis nu mai are rost să zic) şi mi-o plăcut tare mult. M-o luat o nostalgie liceeană foarte plăcută <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><strong>Nouvelle Vague</strong> o fost atracţia serii pentru mine. Fetele au fost excelente. Şi atât de diferite. Înger vs drac. Una din ele era super kinky, prin poziţia pe scenă, felul în care cânta, tot. Una părea cea mai cuminte de pe lume. O dat tare bine pe scenă. Şi o cântat mult (bine peste timpu alocat şi menţionat în program). Am auzit piese cu care eram obişnuită: <em>Human Fly, Dance With Me, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Teenage Kicks, Guns of Brixton, Too Drunk To Fuck, Bela Lugosi&#8217;s Dead</em> şi piese noi: <em>Sweet Dreams, God Save the Queen</em>. Am dansat, m-am simţit bine, mi-o plăcut tare mult. M-o deranjat că o avut vreo 2 sau 3 microfonii. Ce treabă-i asta?</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Voiam să văd măcar o bucată din <strong>Kraak and Smaak</strong>, <strong>Stereophonics, </strong><strong>Róisín Murphy </strong><strong> </strong>şi <strong>Manu Chao. </strong></p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Am ajuns pe la jumatea concertului <strong>Kraak and Smaak. </strong>Pe drum îmi zicea vară-mea că e curioasă cum e îmbrăcată tipa, pentru că o văzuse nu cu mult în urmă la BECK’SPERIENCE şi eu glumeam că poate e la fel. Gluma mea s-o cam adeverit, singuru lucru în plus fiind de data asta papucii. O sunat ok, dar nu m-o dat pe spate. Totuşi, nu-mi pare rău că am venit mai repede să-i prind. Tipa avea mişcare scenică ok. Dar eu eram nerăbdătoare pentru următoarele.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;"><strong>Stereophonics </strong>o sunat deosebit de bine. <strong>Kelly Jones</strong> arată wow. Pictures don&#8217;t do hime enough justice. Şi asta pe lângă că are atitudine pe scenă şi cântă foarte bine. M-am topit de tot la <em>Maybe Tomorrow</em>, una din piesele mele de suflet alltime. Senzaţia o fost întărită de faptu că atunci am reuşit să mă văd cu <a href="http://babylonoise.wordpress.com/author/gorgeousao/">Cristi</a>, în sfârşit. Mi-o plăcut tare mult băieţii.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Pe miss <strong> </strong><strong>Róisín Murphy </strong>am aşteptat-o 45 de minute. Toată lumea o zis că asta e fiţă şi o acuzat-o pe ea. De fapt căzuse ceva mixer şi până nu o fost rezolvată problema nu s-o putut începe concertul. La bis nu s-o putut întoarce pentru că întârzia Nelly prea mult (fiind pe scene alăturate) aşa că nu o fost vina ei. Cine s-o mai uitat la concerte  <strong> </strong><strong>Róisín </strong>şi cine o văzut-o duminică ce show o făcut, poate intui că o interesează cum apare live.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">O fost EXTRAORDINARĂ. O schimabat ţinută după ţinută. O fost plină de energie şi vocea i-o sunat perfect. O fost robot prins în corp uman. Instrumentiştii o sunat excelent, la fel şi fetele de la baking vocals, care pe lângă că o completau vocal perfect, o făceau şi cu mişcarea scenică. Excelente fetele. Am fost hipnotizată tot concertul. Un <strong>UNKLE </strong>în variantă feminină din punct de vedere al senzaţiilor care mi le-o transmis. Nu mă aşteptam să cânte ceva din perioada <strong>Moloko</strong>, aşa că m-am bucurat foarte tare când am auzit <em>Forever More</em>. La <em>Overpowered </em>am fost ca-n transă. Şi nu doar eu dansam. Toată lumea în jurul meu o făcea.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Unde mai pui că peste toate astea îi şi frumoasă.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">În timp ce mai salutam lume pe acolo şi mă pregăteam să mă îndrept spre <strong>Manu Chao</strong> am auzit-o pe <strong>Nelly Furtado</strong> cântând<em> I&#8217;m Like a Bird</em>, singura piesă care voiam să o aud, de altfel.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Din păcate la <strong>Manu Chao</strong> eram foarte obosită. Mă dureau îngrozitor picioarele şi nu am reuşit să intru cum trebuie în atmosfera concertului. Am stat foarte cuminte mai la o parte de mulţimea cu mâinile pe sus. Publicu mi s-o părut extraodinar iar trupa de pe scenă o sunat foarte bine şi o făcut o atmosferă tare faină.</p>

<p style="text-align:left;">Majoritatea trupelor o promis că se întorc. Se pare că le-o plăcut publicul român care în general o fost foarte receptiv.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Mi-o părut rău că nu am putut vedea <strong>Kaiser Chiefs</strong> şi chiar <strong>Cypress Hill </strong>din cauză de suprapunere cu chestii ce mă interesau mai mult. Dar asta e. Mă consolez cu faptu că pe la toate festivalurile mari trebuie făcute alegeri de genu ăsta. Data viitoare!</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Marile minusuri o fost căldura foarte mare şi, din punctu meu de vedere, imposibilitatea de-a găsi un taxi care să nu-ţi facă gaură în buget după terminarea concertelor. Aşa am ajuns eu duminică noaptea să mă &#8220;plimb&#8221; cu o durere groaznică de picioare de la Romexpo la Victoriei. Noroc că noaptea e mai răcoare şi că am avut companie plăcută.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Mai stăteam măcar încă 3 zile <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' />  În ciuda minusurilor o fost un weekend prelungit tare reuşit. M-am întâlnit cu prieteni pe care nu i-am văzut de mai bine de-un an. I-am văzut pe <a href="http://lifesoundrack.blogspot.com/">Roxi </a>şi <a href="http://www.netjunkie.ro/junk/">David </a>chiar înaninte să facă marea mutare spre state (vă ţin pumnii). Am cunoscut multă lume frumoasă care până atunci făceau parte doar dintr-o lume virtuală: Dana, <a href="http://www.oitzarisme.ro/">Oae</a>, <a href="http://www.radiolynx.ro/blogs/antidot/">Sociopatul</a>, <a href="http://todenyasound.blogspot.com/">Vlad</a> şi alţii.</p>
<p style="text-align:left;">Drumu înapoi nu o fost aşa roz pentru că nu am putut dormi deloc. Am avut şi întârziere. Pe de altă parte, am citit o carte mişto, deci tot nu o fost timp pierdut. <img src='http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':)' class='wp-smiley' /> </p>

<em>Part four of a five-part series I am doing this week on Classic Reunions. Each day I will add a new photo of a featured artist and that band’s classic reunion.</em><br />

<p style="text-align:left;">After just four short years together, Bauhaus established themselves as the ultimate Goth band.   Everything about them, from their name (inspired by a German school of design), to the harsh white light that threw shadows all over the stage as they played, to their gloomy lyrics on songs like <em>Bela Lugosi’s Dead</em> created an atmosphere and vibe unlike anything we’d seen up to that point.  They may have been influenced by Bowie, punk and glam but ultimately, Bauhaus created a totally original sound, and they were a major influence on bands like Joy Division, The Cure and Siouxsie and the Banshees.</p>
<p>They broke up in 1982, with rumors flying that resentment was building up between lead singer Peter Murphy and the rest of the band.  According to Wikipedia, the resentment dealt with Murphy’s appearance in ads and the way the final shot of the band’s appearance in the Bowie movie <em>The Hunger</em> focused solely on Murphy.  I’m sure the whole thing was more complicated, but whatever the reason, the band split up.  Both sides had successful post-Bauhaus runs with Murphy building a successful solo career and the other three having equal success with Love and Rockets.</p>
<p>Despite huge demands for a reunion, all four said they would never do it.  Then, in 1998, it happened.  There was no dramatic reconciliation and no talk of this being permanent, or tying it to an album.   Neither side was struggling artistically or financially.  They just all felt it was time and wanted to do it.   The band played three nights at the Hollywood Palladium and I shot them all.   These gigs had everything a fan could ask for – great set lists, energy, and the classic Bauhaus look and feel. It was like watching them pick up exactly where they left off.   One night, I hung around for hours and hours after the show to get them to sign a copy of my book B<em>auhaus – Beneath The Mask</em>.  Finally, around 2:30 a.m. they came out to greet a small group of die-hard fans, and all four members graciously signed my book.</p>

<p>With the first video, version, I found it going at a slower pace, the melody seems much &#8220;softer&#8221; during Bauhaus&#8217; life performance. The cords are more played out (more drawn out) and the reverb is much more pronounced. The drum beat contains fluctuations accentuated with guitars- not continuous as in the second version.</p></div>

<p>With the second video, version, I found that The Electric Hellfire Club created a &#8220;darker&#8221; contingent with the &#8220;dark-wave&#8221; genre using a continuous unaltering drum beat but retaining the same reverb accentuated with more background effects.</p></div>

<p>I think that the major difference between the two is the the first version, Bauhaus, primarily concentrates on guitar whileas the second focuses more on the drums.</p>
<p>I like them both but I think that I prefer the second as it has a much &#8220;darker&#8221; feel to it.</p></div>

<p>Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails joined Peter Murphy and TV On The Radio to perform Bauhaus&#8217; influential Gothic rock song Bela Lugosi&#8217;s Dead. This collaboration was recorded on June 13, 2006, when Murphy toured with Nine Inch Nails. TV On The Radio was the opener for the show, during the summer of 2006. This concert was actually a show put on for winners of a radio contest in DC. It was broadcast live on Washington&#8217;s DC101 radio station. The artists also performed the songs Dreams and Final Solution.</p>
