Franco Califano.Trent’anni fa scriveva “L’avventura con un travestito”, la sua canzone – monologo più celebre. Storia di uno smacco di un seduttore di professione, mentre Renato Zero impazzava col suo glamour. Due Ponti? « Una tristezza infinita, è scaduta l’eleganza». Quella che si raggiungeva «anche facendo i buffi». Il playboy? «Portavamo a cena le belle donne. Oggi non si fa più».

«In faccia era più liscio della cera, che barba s’era fatto quella sera. Era ‘na bomba e infatti me so detto: “nun so più io si nun la porto a letto”». Un accordo di chitarra appena accennato, la voce roca dello chansonnier che si appoggia al microfono e via con il proclama. È il secco incipit di uno dei monologhi più famosi di Franco Califano. Lo ha scritto nel 1979, trent’anni fa, si intitola: L’avventura con un travestito. È la disavventura, insospettabile per quei tempi e soprattutto per il personaggio, di un playboy costretto da una svista colossale a rimettersi in gioco, con una ironia insolita per chi immagina il vanitoso orgoglio del seduttore messo a dura prova dallo smacco.

E infatti, dietro l’annuncio dell’ennesimo acchiappo, che il gran conquistatore già assapora come andato in porto, si nasconde l’inganno: «Tutto sembrava! forchè ‘n travestito! perciò come ‘no stronzo so ‘mboccato, credenno pure a tutte quelle scuse, quanno me disse “Caro No! C’ho le mie cose!”. Pè conquistarla io la rispettavo. Aspetto che guarisca, me dicevo: a questa si’ che jela do ‘na botta, questa nun è la solita mignotta, e m’ atteggiavo a gran conquistatore questa la porterei pure all’ altare cosi’ partii co’ ‘n pò de tenerezze mai fatte ‘n vita mia tante carezze».

Un errore fatale per il macho Califfo, un incidente che non ti aspetti dall’attore da fotoromanzo passato a seduttore, con la faccia da duro, e il sorriso vorace, voce calda e rude, diventato mito e leggenda della roma anni settanta, «poeta de borgata tra mille denunce», cantore delle sue stesse gesta erotiche, alternando il tono e il personaggio maudit-popolaresco a quello intimistico-malinconico, ma che nella maschilista La mia libertà (sigla di Domenica In nel 1981) canta schiettamente: «Se voglio un corpo e un po’ d’affetto faccio un giro cerco un letto e una donna che ci sta».
Che è successo trent’anni fa, Califfo? «Lo so, L’avventura compie trenta anni, in effetti sono stato un precursore, ma la canzone non nasce come un’esperienza personale o un fatto vissuto. Nasce dalla mia fantasia. Sono il contrario di Mogol, che dice sempre che con la fantasia non si va dal nessuna parte. A me invece piace immaginare storie, partendo da quello che sento in giro, che mi raccontano gli altri. All’epoca dire trans era come bestemmiare».

«Co’ ‘n bacio ‘n bocca j’ho mozzato er fiato, solo ar ricordo, quanto ho vomitato. Pensai “chissà se rivedo ancora, nun farei mejo a fammela stasera?” “E si” – me dissi, e intanto m’ eccitai – “mejo indisposta mo, che sana mai”. E ormai spasimavo dalla voja, me feci strappà pure la vestaja. Nun ce vedevo, tanto ero partito verso un traguardo fatto de peccato…Ma quano je ‘nfilai la mano sotto, cò la violenza che c’ha solo ‘n matto, restai de ghiaccio: ‘n mezzo a quelle cosce la mano mia acchiappò dù cose mosce Mai viste cosi’ grosse ‘n vita mia. Dù palle come li mortacci sua… sopra la mano mia paralizzata pè quella ‘nfame meta conquistata. Se tanto me dà tanto, pensai ar resto e ritirai la mano presto presto “amo scherzato” – dissi – “via quer pacco!” “se no je dò dù carci e te lo stacco!».
Per il Catalogo dei Viventi di Dell’Arti e Parrini, Califano, che è anche il raffinato compositore di Tutto il resto è noia, E la chiamano estate, Minuetto, Un amore così grande, autore per Mia Martini, Mina, Bruno Martino, Ornella Vanoni, Peppino Di Capri, Fred Bongusto, Gino Paoli, «ha cantato 110 canzoni, ne ha scritte 1300, ha inciso 30 dischi». Di donne si dice ne abbia avute 1500. Mai stato con un trans? «A dire il vero non ne conosco manco uno… sono uno che ha avuto tante donne, ma mai a pagamento, se io decidessi di andare a pagamento sarei fuori dal giro… sto seguendo i fatti come tutti, sui giornali, in televisione, è perchè ho bisogno di sapere, è il mio mesterie, raccogliere umori, storie, personaggi per poi scrivere canzoni».
«Me ritrovai sdraiato sul tappeto, tutto abbracciato ancora a quer cornuto, oltre alla rabbia d’ esserme eccitato, ci avevo l’ occhi der rincojonito… Bella figura feci con me stesso… roba da’nna’ in esilio drentro ar cesso..Se rivesti’ de corsa la signora! guadannome cò l’occhi de paura! … e scappò via… Me vergognai parecchio! E cominciai a fà li conti cò lo specchio: puntai lo sguardo e m’ accusai “A Vincenzo! nun sei ‘n conquistatore… sei ‘no stronzo!” Speriamo che ’sta cosa nun se sappia, tu e er travestito: pensa un pò che coppia ! Te venne ‘n mente pure er matrimonio! Sai che piattini ?! “palle ar pinzimonio”!!!».
Era già in crisi l’immagine del gigolò? «Del playboy, please, il gigolò si fa solo pagare, mentre il playboy fa i debiti per farsi fotografare con le donne che contano, per portare a cena le attrici straniere sbarcate a Cinecittà, per vestirsi con abiti su misura. Ma non era comunque una figura in crisi, nonostante l’ironia della canzone. Oggi lo è invece, perché quello che manca è l’eleganza: una volta vestiti così transadati nei locali non ti facevano entrare, oggi vanno tutti con le scarpe da tennis. Pensano solo a bere, non hanno controllo». E Due Ponti? «Quando leggo di questi posti mi viene una tristezza infinita, mi assale l’inquietudine perché è scaduta questa eleganza, che poi non è il vestito ma la persona che conta, la classe è innata, o al massimo fai i buffi per raggiungerla. Califano non andrebbe mai in un posto così, la gente oggi si accontenta con i propri desideri. è vero che ognuno ha qualcosa di assurdo che non vuole ammettere, ma questo squallore nella trasgressione mi fa capire che molti non sanno neanche cosa fanno, dicono di fuggire alla monotonia della vita, alla noia. I costumi si saranno anche allargati, ma l’autenticità è persa e non è questione di tempi andati. È stato così sempre, solo che ieri la trasgressione si nascondeva meglio, oggi no, è più difficile e infatti esce fuori lo schifo».
Un anno prima, in Zerolandia, Renato Zero spopolava con il suo pop glam, tutto cipria, lustrini e paillettes: «Faccio in fretta un altro inventario, smonto la baracca e via, cambio zona itinerario, il mio indirizzo é la follia. C’é un’infelice ovunque vai, voglio allargare il giro dei clienti miei. Io vendo desideri e speranze in confezione spray». Ma per Califano l’allargamento degli orizzonti voleva dire una beffa che sparigliava le carte della propria vanità e dei pregiudizi: «Le donne l’ hai ‘nventate te? A sonato!! er primo travestito… t’ha fregato… la donna tu, guardanno je ‘n molare sapevi se ci aveva ‘n bel sedere ?! ancora a ’ste stronzate sei legato? scenni dar parco er pubblico è già uscito! Nun c’è rimasto manco ‘n travestito.Te disse “Caro no, ci ho le mie cose” e tu pensavi ar ciclo d’ogni mese… invece le sue cose erano quelle che volgarmente noi chiamiamo palle! Tu vedi er sole e trovi la tempesta, a vorte è lunedi e te sembra festa la vita è un dubbio tutto da scoprire, quelli sò maschi oppure sò signore?».
«Dei trans sapevo sì e no l’esistenza, sapevo però le cose che potevano succedere, il trans l’ho sempre riconosciuto a 100 metri, ma scrivendo la canzone ho immaginato un tizio normale, senza grande esperienza di mondo. Negli anni settanta i trans non erano così, non c’erano così apertamente. L’ironia ce l’ho messa apposta. Molti impazzirono dal divertitmento, qualcuno mi disse che ero trasgressivo sì ma volgare. Ma dico io, il Belli prima di me ha fatto sfracelli… Questo monologo lo faccio ovunque, me lo chiedono tutti. Renato? Siamo creciuti insieme, è stato un grande, è stata una grande stagione di trasgressione, ma lui non era volgare, era dichiarato, anche se mi sa che molti non hanno mai capito le sue deviazioni sessuali. Però non ci sono mai stati scandalo per lui, ballava molto bene come jackson. ora gli anni non può più saltare. Quella Roma là mi è sfuggita, ora la capitale è un agglomerato di piccole città. Manco da via fratttina da 15 anni, non siano abituati a una metropoli di milioni di persone».
Progetti? «Al momento sto fermo perché non so cosa pubblicare, Molti mi dicono di raccogliere i testi delle canzoni, i monologhi come questo e stamparli. In ogni pezzo ci sono un paio di righe che graffiano. E poi devo cominciare a girare una fiction con Thomas Miliàn, ma un film di malavita vera, accaduta, non il Monnezza eh! Sarà una serie in sei puntate». Intanto trent’anni fa, con la sua disavventura con un travestito, il Califfo scopriva il futuro di un playboy. Mai arrendersi, anche se cambiano i costumi: «Chi vò la verità deve toccare. … prego signori, venghino a toccare… prego signori, venghino a toccare … prego signori… … venghino a toccare…»

Adriano Belli and the Argos look to finish on a strong note Saturday

The CFL regular season consists of 18 games over four months, but you can forgive the Argos for feeling like it’s lasted a lot longer. At 3-14 and long eliminated from postseason play, Toronto wraps up the 2009 season Saturday at Rogers Centre against the league-best Montreal Alouettes.

The Alouettes, 14-3 and locked into a first round bye, will likely spend much of the afternoon with big guns such as Anthony Calvillo and Avon Cobourne stapled to the sidelines to ensure their health for when the games actually matter. Similarly, Argos coach Bart Andrus will be sending out a few fresh faces, though for different reasons — he’s holding auditions for next year.

“It’s the last game,” Andrus said after Friday’s walk-through. “It’s their last opportunity to play and make an impression. Still, we’re approaching it from the standpoint that we’re playing to win this game.”

The most notable new face in the Argos lineup will be at quarterback. After spending almost the entire season on the practice roster, Stephen Reaves will get the ball for his first career CFL start. Reaves came in in relief last Saturday in Edmonton, completing 10-of-16 pass attempts for 122 yards and a touchdown in Toronto’s 36-10 loss.

“The last few weeks everyone has been auditioning for jobs,” Reaves said Thursday. “In this league, it seems like it could be one play that could either get you back or not get you back the next year. Personally, I see it as an audition for me.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity,” he added. “It’s not under the circumstances everyone wants, but I’m excited and hopefully we come out with a win.”

While Reaves and the Argo offense will be looking to finish on a strong note, the Toronto defense, which enters the finale amongst CFL team leaders in several major categories, is left to lament a season of strong play left to waste. Still, that doesn’t mean they’re ready to mail it in a week early.

“It’s the same mindset as every other game,” said defensive tackle Kevin Huntley, who leads the Argos and sits sixth in the CFL with nine sacks. “We want to go in and compete and do the best we can, regardless of whether they’re going to the playoffs and we’re not. We want to end the year on a good note.”

Adriano Belli, Huntley’s partner in crime on the defensive line, echoed his sentiments.

“Tomorrow’s our Grey Cup,” Belli said after the walk-through. “We’re going to go out there and have fun.

“More than anything, we feel bad for our fans, though it hasn’t been for a lack of effort. We’re going to play our hearts out.”

“93harbi” sonrasında Çar’ın Rusya’da yaşamasını istemediği  Malakan Kavminin bir kısmı Kars’a göçe zorlanır. Göç edenler arasında Mişka’nın(Tarık Akan) ailesi de vardır. Filmde Mişka 70’li yaşlarındadır. Bir zamanlar köyün değirmenini işleten Mişka , modern makineler çıktıktan sonra, işini yapamamış ve maddi sıkıntıya düşmüştür.Köyün huysuz ihtiyarı Popuç(Şerif Sezer) Mişka’dan nefret eder ve köyde yaşamasını istemez.Köylüler bir zarar görmedikleri hatta sevdikleri kendi halinde,barışçı,yardımsever Mişka ile Popuç arasında kalmışlardır.Popuç, oğlu Şemistan(Levent Tülek), gelini Figan (Zuhal Topal) ve üç torunuyla yaşar. Torunlarından en küçüğü Alma dik başlı, sevecen bir kızdır ve doğuştan iyi bir müzik kulağına sahiptir. Alma’nın öğretmeni Metin, Alma’daki yeteneği fark etmiştir ve kesinlikle değerlendirilmesi gerektiğini düşünür. Alma ve Mişka arasında sıcacık bir dostluk vardır. Metin öğretmenin uğraşları sonucunda  Alma konservatuar sınavlarına girer. Mişka hastadır. Köyde Mişka’nın yakında öleceği konuşulur. Bu, gerçek bir yaşam öyküsüdür. Hem de içimizi kanatacak kadar gerçek. Mommo ise bir “hayal-korku” kahramanın yöresel adıdır. Hani çoğumuzun çocukken korkutulduğu “öcü” gibi.
Hasan Dede; Ahmet ve Ayşe isimli torunlarıyla beraber yaşamaktadır. Yürümekte zorluk çeken ve mecbur olmadıkça evden çıkamayan Hasan Dede, iki kızından birini kaybetmiş, onun kocası olan “iş güveysi” Kazım da başka bir kadınla evlenmiştir. Ayşe ve Ahmet, Kazım’ın karısı eve almadığı için Hasan’ın yanına sığınmışlardır. Kazım, zayıf karakterli, aciz bir adamdır ve çocuklarına sahip çıkmaz. Ahmet, babasına karşı karşı çok öfkelidir, Ayşe, zaman zaman babasına gitmek istese de o hep karşı çıkmaktadır.

Komşuları Gülseren, kasabadaki zengin bir aileye Ayşe’nin besleme olarak verilmesi için aracılık eder. Hasan, tüm zorluklara rağmen buna karşı çıkar. Hasan’ın Almanya’da yaşayan diğer kızı Fatma’dan aldıkları  bir mektup umutlarını yeşertir..Fatma, çocukları, yanına aldırmak istemektedir. Yuvaya gönderilme korkusu yaşayan çocuklar, o günden sonra yeniden hayata tutunurlar. Ahmet, kardeşine karşı çok korumacıdır. Hatta yaşından beklenmeyecek olgunluğa erişmiştir. Ayşe’nin “mommo” korkusunun yersizliğini anlatmaya çalışır. Ama sonuçta Ahmet’te bir çocuktur. Onun da korkuları vardır. Ayşe ve Ahmet dama koydukları döşekte her gece yıldızların altında konuşarak uyurlar. Hayalleri Almanya üstünedir. Köyün dışındaki bahçeye kurdukları salıncak ise tek sığınaklarıdır. Almanya’dan yeni bir mektup gelir. Bu seferki kötü haberdir. Çocukları aldırma işinin zor olduğunu, ama yine de iki yıl gibi bir sürede ihtimal bulunduğunu yazar teyze. Hasan’ın dayanacak gücü kalmamıştır. Özellikle kızın durumu onu endişelendirmektedir. Haber yollar, Ayşe’yi vermeye razı olduğunu söyler. Ayşe’yi almaya gelecekleri gün, Ahmet’i yağ çıkarmaya yollar. İsteyen ailenin isteği üzerine de, bit-pire olmasın diye Ayşe’nin saçlarını üç numaraya vurur. Kapı önüne gelen araba Ayşe’yi alır. Ahmet, sokakta karşılaştığı arabanın arkasından gitse de yapacak bir şey kalmamıştır. Ayşe, kaderine yol almaya başlamıştır.

BAŞKA DİLDE AŞK
Filmde, doğuştan işitme engelli olan Onur ile çağrı merkezinde çalışan Zeynep’in, aşkın kendilerini değiştirmesine izin verişi ve bununla birlikte değişen hayatları şiirsel bir dille anlatılıyor.

Onur’un hayatı, kürek takımından arkadaşı Vedat’ın nişan partisinde Zeynep’le tanışmasıyla değişir. Kalabalık ve gürültülü bir barda hiç konuşmadan geçen gecenin sonunda Zeynep, Onur’un işitme engelli olduğunu öğrenir. Ama bu durum Zeynep’i Onur’dan uzaklaştırmaz. İşiyle, ailesiyle sorunlar yaşayan Zeynep yaşadığı çevreyi sorgularken, biraz da bilmediği bir dünyanın merakıyla, unuttuğu ceketini bahane ederek tekrar Onur’u görmeye gider.

Babasının annesini aldattığını öğrendikten sonra bu durumu kabullenemeyip evden ayrılan Zeynep birçok iş değiştirdikten sonra, çağrı merkezinde çalışmaya başlar ama ağır çalışma şartlarından ve karşılığında kazandığı paradan çok mutsuzdur. Bütün gün telefonda tanımadığı insanlarla konuşmak zorunda olan Zeynep, konuşmadan anlaşabildiği Onur’la huzuru bulacağına inanır.

Bu ilişki, kendilerini ve hayatı sorgulayan Zeynep ve Onur için bir sınav olacaktır.

BENİM VE ROZ’UN SONBAHARI
Antik bir kasaba, yapılacak baraj nedeniyle sular altında kalacak ve dünyada eşi benzeri görülmeyen bu zengin kültür de yok olacaktır. Bunu engellemek için tüm güçlerini seferber ederek mücadele eden sivil hareket ne yazık ki yenilgiye uğrar. Bu hareketin başını Gazeteci Metin çeker. Eski bir tipo makineyle çıkarttığı yerel gazetesiyle baraj yapımından rant bekleyen çıkar çevrelerine karşı mücadele eder. Metin’de simgeleşen bu mücadelenin hedefi barajın rantını yiyen Müteahhit Sofu’dur.

Yapılan Baraj nedeniyle kasabalarından göçe zorlanan kasaba halkıyla, buna önderlik eden yerel bir gazetecinin verdiği inişli çıkışlı mücadeleyi,  Irak savaşın yol açtığı göç olayıyla paralellikler kurarak anlatıyor.

Kasaba halkı  uzun yıllar boyunca yapılacak barajı engellemek için gazeteci Metin önderliğinde mücadele etmiştir. Ancak rant çevrelerinin çıkarları sonucu bu mücadeleyi kaybeder. Söz konusu kasabanın antik bir müzeyi andıran kültürel ve tarihi zenginliği bu yenilgiyi daha da trajik kılar.
Bu mücadele süreci sonucunda karısı hapse düşen, çocuğu orada doğan Metin adeta dibe vurur. Örnek bir önderken adeta bir berduşa dönüşür.  Terörün yok ettiği köyde bir köyden göç ederek kasabaya gelen 13 yaşlarındaki Roz ise insanlara yeni yeni alışmaktadır. Kasabalıların yenilgisi, vahşi güzelli Roz’un umutları, sonbaharını bu coğrafyada geçirmeyi tercih etmiş eski dansöz Tijen’in hikayesi, ilkbaharı olmayan ve sonbaharı yaşayan cesur ve zeki çocuk Şoreş’in hikayesi birbirine karışmıştır.

YEDİ AVLU
Antakya’da avlular yüksek duvarlarla sokaktan ayrılır ve kapıları hep kapalıdır. Antakya’da her avlu ayrı bir dünyadır. Sakinleri Türk, Arap, Hıristiyan, Yahudi, Ermeni, Süryani, Rum, Alevi ve Sünni… Ve her avluda ayrı bir dil konuşulur…

Eleni 27 yaşında, güzel ama bakımsız Rum bir kadın. Dokuz, yedi ve beş yaşlarında üç kızı var. Arap Alevi’si eşi öldükten sonra, komşuları tarafından dışlanmış bir durumda. Erkekler dedikodu olur diye, kadınlar da eşlerinden uzak tutmak için onunla diyaloglarını kesiyorlar. Böylece kızlarıyla yalnız kalan Eleni, insanlarla iletişim kurmak için her akşam bir bahaneyle mahalledeki avluları dolaşır… Mahallede aynı sokakta yedi avlu vardır. Eleni bu kez limon istemek için yedi avluyu dolaşıyor fakat kimse ona bir limon vermeden yüzüne kapıyı kapatıyor. Çünkü her avlunun kendine özgü bir musibeti var…

Birinci avluda 1968 kuşağından beş sosyalist bir zamanlar neden devrim yapamadıklarını tartışıyorlar.

İkinci avluda Ermeni aile Ermenistan’dan gelen misafirlerine yoksulluktan ve dillerini unuttuklarından yakınıyorlar.

Üçüncü avluda Kürt aile ayyaş babalarını erik ağacına bağlamışlar. Türk baba Kürt karısı ve çocuklarına küfür ediyor.

Dördüncü avluda çocukları olmayan Arap karı koca Avluda hazine arıyorlar. Kazı sonucunda içinde çocuk mumyası olan bir lahit çıkıyor.

Beşinci avluda, kendi cemaatinden evlenecek yaşta kız bulamayan Musevi Azra, Müslüman ve dilsiz bir kızla evlenmek isteyince annesiyle arası açılıyor…

Altıncı avludaki yeni evli olan zekâ özürlü Tahir ile Zehra avludan çıkması mümkün olmayan arabalarına binip “gezmeye çıkıyorlar”.

Yedinci avluda ise genç ölen karısının hayaliyle yaşayan ve devamlı geçmişle hesaplaşan ihtiyar Mürşit var.

Böylece Yedi Avludan eli boş dönen Eleni, evinin bodrumuna inip gözlerinden yaş süzülen “Ağlayan Meryem Ana” ikonunun önüne geliyor. Eleni de ağlayarak insanların neden birbirine acı verdiklerini sorgulayan bir monologa başlıyor…

İLKBAHAR SONBAHAR

Jamal Robertson has rushed for 317 yards and three touchdowns against Hamilton this season

In a season filled with tough breaks and disappointment, the Argos have been able to find slight relief in their rivals from Steeltown. Though just 3-12 on the season, the Argos have taken two of three from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, including their only home win of the year — a 25-22 overtime decision on Sept. 11. Toronto looks to close the season series with another win Friday at Rogers Centre and play the spoiler against a Hamilton team that’s suddenly fighting for its playoff life.

The Ticats come in having lost four straight and seven of their last nine to drop to 6-9 on the season, leaving them tied with Winnipeg for the CFL’s final playoff spot. Still, Argos head coach Bart Andrus insists he’s approaching Friday’s tilt as just another game — not as an opportunity to deal a blow to his team’s biggest rival.

“The game itself far outweights anything,” Andrus said after Thursday’s walk-through. “It’s all about competing to win regardless of the situation. We’re just in it to win the game.”

Though the end results haven’t been there, Hamilton has received a boost from quarterback Kevin Glenn in recent weeks. Glenn, who has split time with Quinton Porter for much of the season, got the call Sunday against Montreal, passing for 506 yards and three touchdowns in an eventual 41-38 loss. Glenn has had his share of success against Toronto this season as well — he threw for 273 yards in the Ticats’ 34-15 Labour Day win and scrambled 18 yards to score in the final minute and send the Sept. 11 game to overtime.

“The key is to contain him,” Andrus said of the Hamilton quarterback. “Putting a little bit of pressure on him, making him throw early and making him uncomfortable in the pocket — that has more of an effect on a passer than anything.

“He hurt us last game,” he added. “We want to make sure we bottle him up, but at the same time put as much pressure on him as we can.”

Meanwhile, Andrus is going with Kerry Joseph as his starting quarterback for the third straight week. Joseph threw for 331 yards in last week’s 22-19 loss to Edmonton, though the majority came in a late fourth quarter rally that came up short. In eight starts and two relief appearances this season, Joseph has thrown just eight touchdowns and 15 interceptions.

One bright spot in Toronto’s offense has been running back Jamal Robertson. Robertson enters Friday’s game fifth in the CFL with 990 rushing yards, putting himself in position to become the first Argo to rush for over 1,000 yards since Michael Jenkins accomplished the feat in 2001.

“It’s a nice mark for myself,” Robertson said Thursday of approaching the milestone. “It’s been awhile since anyone has done it in Toronto, so it’s good to bring a little positive to the organization in the midst of a rough year.”

Robertson has had his two best games of the season against Hamilton — he rushed for 134 yards and a touchdown in Toronto’s 30-17 season-opening win on Canada Day and added 117 and two scores in the win on Sept. 11.

“I guess it’s just the luck of the draw,” Robertson said of his play against the Ticats. “I got some good blocking and caught a few breaks in those games. It was nice to come out with wins in both.”

The Argos’ defense receive a blow earlier this week with the news that defensive end Claude Harriott will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury suffered in last week’s loss to Edmonton. Harriott’s absence means Jonathan Brown, who missed the first nine games of the season while recovering from a back injury, will be called upon to play a bigger role — one he’s already proven capable of handling.

“Claude is a great player and has been a great asset to our team,” defensive tackle Adriano Belli said Thursday. “But we’re comfortable with J.B.. He brings great enthusiasm to the team and to the locker room. He’s one of the only players older than me, so he makes me feel good.”

Brown, who has three sacks in five games since returning from the injured list, has been an East Division All-Star four straight seasons. His 50 sacks since joining the Argos in 2004 are amongst CFL leaders in that period.

A win Friday would clinch the Ballard Trophy, given annually to the winner of the Argos-Ticats season series and one Andrus’ wouldn’t mind taking home.

“If that’s the prize for the game, then we want it,” he said. “If it means winning the game, we’ll take it. We’re all about that.”

Paradossale la considerazione economica “poter finanziare la parte di interessi che incide sui mutui”. Un enigma-bijoux che il sole 24 ore cerca di snocciolare da anni. Il tutto condito dalla Nostra Eroina che agita i capelli cofanati e cerca di divincolarsi dalla morsa della domanda “che cosa sono i termovalorizzatori?”. Creativo il suo fuggi-fuggi verso un argomento profondo: “si dimetta”.

E con questo finisce – per ora – il momento dedicato ad una bella che più bella è difficile.

Jamal Robertson is just four yards short of Montreal's Avon Cobourne for the league lead

Coming off a frustrating home loss to Winnipeg last Saturday, the Argos are in Montreal Friday night looking to prove their seven-turnover effort at Rogers Centre was a mere blip on the radar. The Alouettes, behind two-time CFL Most Outstanding Player Anthony Calvillo, are 4-1 and will be primed and ready following a Week 5 loss to Edmonton.

Toronto’s loss to Winnipeg last weekend was particularly painful — aside from the seven turnovers, the team was whistled for a costly delay of game penalty as Justin Medlock lined up the potential game-winning field goal, forcing him back 10 yards. His 57-yard attempt banked off the left upright, securing a 13-12 Blue Bombers win.

“The bottom line was the seven turnovers,” Argos head coach Bart Andrus said afterward. “We’ve got to not do that if we’re going to win games.”

Toronto has turned the ball over a league-high 21 times in five games this season, compared to just 12 by their opponents. Kerry Joseph’s nine interceptions are most in the CFL.

“We’ve been getting some breaks,” said Joseph after the loss to Winnipeg. “Balls are getting tipped. It’s not pointing the finger at anybody, all we can do is continue to focus in and work.”

Calvillo, Joseph’s counterpart this weekend, has had little trouble in 2009, completing 75.6% of his passing attempts and throwing just two interceptions. His seven touchdown passes are tied for tops in the league with Joseph and Saskatchewan’s Darian Durant.

Friday’s game also features a matchup of the league’s top rushers — Montreal’s Avon Cobourne (431 yards) and Toronto’s Jamal Robertson (427). Cobourne has five touchdowns to Roberston’s three, though Robertson has carried the ball 12 less times in 2009.

The Argos will again be shorthanded at wide receiver. With Arland Bruce III jettisoned to Hamilton and Andre Talbot sidelined indefinitely with an ankle injury, Joseph will again turn to Chad Lucas and Cory Rodgers, who made their Argo debuts last week against Winnipeg and combined to catch 11 passes for 118 yards. Andrus is also expected to re-insert leading receiver Reggie McNeal, who was benched against the Blue Bombers but handled the demotion well, or “un-Bruce-like”. Also, the Argos welcomed back receiver P.K. Sam earlier this week after he was cut by the Buffalo Bills. Sam, who is out Friday with a quadriceps injury but could suit up next Friday against B.C., caught 36 passes for 499 yards and three touchdowns in just six games last season.

Toronto will also be looking for another solid effort from their defense, which was dominant in back-to-back games against Winnipeg. Though the Alouettes figure to be more of a challenge, the Argos will get a boost with the expected return of Adriano Belli, who dressed but didn’t play last weekend. Claude Harriott, who missed the Winnipeg game with the flu, is also back in the lineup for Toronto.

The Argos and Alouettes kick-off at Percival Molson Stadium Friday at 7:30.

Arland Bruce III is expected to inject some life into Toronto's return game

Something isn’t right in Calgary, and the Argos are hoping it stays that way for at least another week. Toronto is on the road Friday night to face the defending Grey Cup champion Stampeders, who enter at 0-2 despite retaining many key pieces from last year’s team. The Argos, meanwhile, are looking for a bounce back of their own after dropping last Saturday’s home opener to Saskatchewan. Toronto gave up four touchdowns in a five minute stretch late in the second quarter, eventually losing 46-36.

“We tried to put that one to bed,” Argos head coach Bart Andrus said of the loss. “We have to move on and get the things corrected that we feel were wrong from that game and at the same time get a game-plan in for a new opponent.”

That opponent, the Stampeders, were in the same boat as the Argos last week, falling behind 28-4 before a few late touchdowns made things respectable in an eventual 42-30 loss to Winnipeg. Calgary also spotted Montreal a 20-0 lead before eventually losing 40-27 in their season opener on Canada Day, as well.

Henry Burris and the Stamps are looking for their first win

Despite looking vulnerable early in the season, the Stampeders offense features many of the same faces as that of a year ago, most notably quarterback Henry Burris. Burris passed for 5,094 yards and 39 touchdowns in 2008 and earned MVP honours in Calgary’s 22-14 win over Montreal in the Grey Cup. Burris also had plenty of help on the ground last season, as running back Joffrey Reynolds led the CFL in rushing with 1,310 yards.

The Argos had some offensive productive of their own in Saturday’s loss to Saskatchewan. Kerry Joseph threw for 348 yards — 114 to Reggie McNeal — and three touchdowns and Jamal Robertson rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Robertson, who picked up Offensive Player of the Week honours for his play in the season opener against Hamilton, has impressed Andrus thus far.

“I’m very pleased with what Jamal’s done,” Andrus said earlier this week. “He’s a good running back. He’s hard to tackle — people struggle getting a shot on his legs and that’s why he’s able to run through tacklers. I see him having a fantastic year for himself.”

Andrus and his staff had a few things to work on in practice this week, namely finding a man to carry the punt and kick return load. Toronto’s special teams unit was far from special against the Roughriders, and Andrus spent much of the week auditioning players for the role.

“We’re going to change up who’s returning and see how that goes,” Andrus said. “We plan to start this game with Arland (Bruce III) returning punts and we’re going to add Jarrett Payton back on the kick returns with Jamal (Robertson). You may see Matt Black out there too.”

Andrus also sent a serious message to his team about discipline after the loss to Saskatchewan. Toronto was penalized 17 times for 141 yards Saturday, and much of the heat fell on defensive tackle Adriano Belli, who picked up a pair of unsportsmanlike penalties in the second quarter.

“When you play on the line, one week you may be player of the game and another you may get a couple penalties,” Belli said this week. “But it’s up to me to control my aggression and be a football player.”

The Argos and Stampeders kick-off at 9:00 Eastern Time Friday at McMahon Stadium.

Joseph, surrendering one of five Toronto turnovers

If the Argos could erase the second quarter in Saturday’s home opener, they certainly would. Unfortunately, the 15 minute frame, which began with Toronto ahead 13-7 and ended with them down 37-13, stood out as the difference in a 46-36 loss to Saskatchewan in front of 30,055 fans at Rogers Centre.

Toronto started strong, forcing a two-and-out on the Roughriders’ opening drive and scoring on their first three offensive possessions. Kerry Joseph hooked up with Reggie McNeal for a 30-yard touchdown and kicker Justin Medlock kicked a pair of field goals to give Toronto an early 13-7 lead. That’s when the wheels fell off.

Saskatchewan defensive end Stevie Baggs reached Joseph in the end zone for a safety early in the second quarter to cut the lead to 13-9, and the Roughriders followed with four touchdowns in the final five minutes of the half to put the game out of reach. Jerrell Freeman provided the last of the blows, blocking and recovering a Medlock punt in the end zone. The turnover was one of five for the Argos, who didn’t turn the ball over in last week’s season opening win in Hamilton.

“You can’t turn the ball over five times and expect to win,” Argos head coach Bart Andrus said after the game, “unless you get the opponent to turn it over six times.”

Toronto bounced back in the second half, picking up a touchdown run from Jamal Robertson and scoring receptions from Tyler Scott and Mike Bradwell, but it wasn’t enough to make the game close.

Aside from the deciding stretch in the second quarter, a contributing factor to Toronto’s collapse was penalties, of which they picked up 12. Defensive tackle Adriano Belli picked up four alone in the second, including two unneccary roughness flags and a facemask.

Andrus questioned his team’s discipline after the game, particularly that of Belli, who he considers a team leader.

“The issue that needs to be addressed is whether these guys want to be street fighters or football players,” he said afterward. “It’s simple as that, and it’s going to end. It’s going to end because guys that are doing that aren’t going to be here.”

Belli declined to comment on Andrus’ street fighter quote, but admitted it’s important to stay focused and said doing so won’t be a problem in coming games.

“I have to be able to keep my composure and so does everyone else on the field,” Belli said. “We’re not worried about it — we’re going to fix it for next week.”

There were positives for Toronto — Robertson added 80 yards on the ground to go with his third quarter touchdown. McNeal caught five passes for 114 yards and Joseph completed 27-of-46 attempts for 348 yards and three touchdowns.

After the game, Joseph refused to point fingers for the lack of discipline, insisting it’s a team game.

“Everybody was at fault today,” he said. “Everybody was a part of it, nobody more than anyone else. We give credit to Saskatchewan for capitalizing on our mistakes.”

Party time for Jamal Robertson

Life is good in Argo land, at least a week into the season. Two Boatmen received CFL weekly honours yesterday for their performances in last week’s Canada Day rout of Hamilton  — Jamal Robertson, who won the starting running back spot in training camp, picked up Offensive Player of the Week, and hometown boy Adriano Belli grabbed Canadian of the Week. No word on whether Arland Bruce III picked up any hardware for his bizarre Michael Jackson tribute (other than a fine, of course).

Robertson amassed 134 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries in Week 1, also picking up 53 yards through the air. Belli, a defensive tackle, had a pair of sacks, equalling his season output from both 2007 and 2008.

Meanwhile, Robertson, Belli and friends continue to tune up for Saturday afternoon’s home opener against Saskatchewan at Rogers Centre. I’ll check back in the next few days with a preview.

Traté de leer unos de Belli y al rato se me hizo muy difícil y entonces leí 3 veces Escultura de palabras para una plaza de Roma, que la verdad no es si diría que es algo objetivamente más fácil, pero al menos lo hice más cómodamente, y recordé mientras lo hacía que no conozco Roma, ni Francia ni España ni Inglaterra ni Alemania ni Portugal ni Holanda, ni siquiera Rusia.

Son las 3 PM. (A esta hora murió Jesús.) Son las 3 PM y estoy tratando de leer y ya empezó el concierto. Liz Norton se está follando a Jean Claude Pelletier y yo no estoy follando con nadie. La veo y he puesto el equipo a todo volumen. La veo y estoy enamorado de Isabella Rossellini, aunque tenga un afro y a pesar de que sabe cantar, más porque le gustan los golpes, sobre todo por su manejo del cuchillo, esencialmente por sus súplicas devotas.
