Friday

Okay friday was lame. Met up with Glenn to spend quality time together but we wound up meeting his camp mates and played video games at the arcade, sloshing out the few remaining dollars we have. Everyone seem so young, even though quite a number of them are recent poly graduates who are the same age as me. There’s this guy who went to pull the back of Glenn’s G-STAR shirt to see if it’s real and I was thinking this guy has to be from SP Biz and I was right man. Didn’t realize the extent of Geok’s words. Gosh, these people are majorly stupid. Period.

Oh, I had some Indian desserts.There’s this white round sweet that you guys should try. It’s a cross between white chocolate and the chinese rabbit sweet imo and it was sinful but very very delicious.

Saturday

Glenn hit my hand while talking, my phone flew out of its case, hit the floor and got scratches. I cried on the spot. Gosh! It’s a new phone and I barely had it for a month! I won’t have another new phone in 2 years man! I was MAJORLY upset. I can’t wait for the screen protector and casing to come so that I can quickly embalm it and do my best to prevent any mishaps from happening once more.

So, I went to Zouk on Saturday. First time clubbing with Linus, Cherie, Liana and Stef. It’s really weird in the sense that while we drink together, we go our seperate ways once we are done with drinking. Azi, Jean and I were in Zouk while the rest hurried off to Phuture. I didn’t really think I would enjoy Benny Benassi, Man, I had a lot of opinions of him after watching the videos. Women are overtly sexualised in the most derogatory manner and that did not sit well with me. The music was awesome though. I did not have much to drink but I danced the night away. Okay, I admit, I was thinking “Peng, treat this as a kickboxing session and just work your thighs! “. The crowd got so intense that I had to leave to get a breather because I was getting claustrophobic. After I return, I think I got humped by a couple of douche even though bf is right with me and I was in the middle of a drug ring. I could see people passing around little aluminum foil wrapped tablets and sniffing stuff and I was like ARGH! I GOTTA GET OUT OF HERE! I remember Andy’s story about drug raids in clubs. Even though they know that someone else has pushed the drugs in the girls’ hands and the girls were completely innocent, they were the ones arrested because the drugs were in their possession at the moment that they were raiding. Just as we were about to find the rest and tell them we were leaving, we found S & C drunk. It was a pretty sight, but I have to admit it was very amusing. LL was upset though. AHH! What a night. I truly think I have outgrown clubbing. I have never danced this hard before, especially to House music, but I really don’t enjoy the environment.

When I first started clubbing, I guess I was really fascinated by the whole clubbing scene and how there are so many beautiful people. In addition, there is also the memory of how only the IT girls back in school clubs. It has to be the secret desire to attain the status of being fabulous and beautiful. I have yet to reach there, but at the moment I am happy to be myself. I find it hard to believe that I am saying that I am actually strong and confident enough to stand on my own now instead of chasing after another person’s shadow.

Sunday

Terrible day. Glenn coerced me into watching Twilight. It was just like any other dvd renting day. I still have yet to win my bid to watch Vanity Fair (and another ton of old English movies) and in the end we got the shows that Glenn wanted to watch since tomorrow is his dooms day: 17 Again and Twilight. 17 again was entertaining, especially Ned and his antics and Zac Efron has proven himself to be more than a pretty face but OMMFG, TWILIGHT WAS A MAJOR SNOOZE FEST PLEASE! I used to think that Perez Hilton was really mean for demeaning Kristen Stewart but dude, I’m with you now! She has next to zero happy expressions and she looked extremely constipated 99% of the time. Robert Pattinson is charming though. I can imagine why girls are going crazy over him. If anyone of you wants to torture me, you can send me to watch New Moon and it will be the perfect torture chamber.

Galera pra quem já curte tocar um rock com Gitar Hro ou Rock Band, que tal um jogo chamado DJ HERO!

Os criadores de Guitar Hero introduziram uma maneira inteiramente nova e inovadora a experiência musical. DJ Hero é um game que presenta uma incrível variedade de músicas através de gêneros – as faixas que você ama e reflete quem você é . Usando um controlador igual a um autêntico prato, você vai girar nada mais de 102 canções em exclusivas misturas e se tornar um verdadeiro DJ. Prepare-se para um fenômeno completamente novo na música.

O jogo, desenvolvido pela Freestyle Games e produzido pela Activision, utiliza um controle especial que imita os elementos existentes em uma pick-up de DJ. Como em “Guitar hero”, o jogador precisa realizar os mesmos comandos que aparecem na tela por meio do joystick.

O objetivo de “DJ hero” é mixar as músicas e não tocá-las como em “Guitar hero”, por exemplo. No game de guitarra, o jogador deve pressionar os botões correspondentes às notas da música para que ela seja reproduzida. Em ‘DJ hero’, é necessário pressionar os botões do controle que imita a pick-up de DJ para soltar cada faixa musical, mixando a canção. “O controle do ‘DJ hero’ simula o vinil no toca-discos onde você pode fazer os scartchs, há os três botões para você pressionar e soltar a música dentro do tempo certo, o ‘crossfader’ para você mixar as canções colocando-o para os lados e outro botão para os efeitos da mixagem”.

Combinado com o controle, o game apresenta os comandos na tela que são divididos em três linhas coloridas. As extremidades representam as músicas diferentes tocadas nos dois toca-discos do DJ enquanto a do meio é o sampler, que permite incluir efeitos especiais na mixagem. Para manter a execução perfeita da mixagem, o jogador deve pressionar os botões no momento exigido pelo jogo na tela. Em caso de erro, a música para de tocar.

Uma das diferenças de “DJ hero” em relação a “Guitar hero” e “Rock band” é que suas músicas são combinações, chamadas de mixagens ou mash-ups, de duas canções de bandas famosas. A mixagem é feita por um artista famoso contratado pela produtora do game. Entre as 93 músicas que acompanham o disco de “DJ hero”, o jogador encontrará combinações de 50 Cent com David Bowie, Black Eyed Peas com Benny Benassi, Daft Punk com No Doubt, Eminem com Beck e Foo Fighters com Beastie Boys, por exemplo.

O game permite ainda partidas ao lado de outro amigo, embora exija o uso de outro controle especial. É possível, também, jogar on-line, com exceção do PlayStation 2, e utilizar a guitarra de “Guitar hero” em algumas mixagens.

No Brasil, “DJ hero” chega oficialmente na segunda quinzena de novembro. De acordo com a Synergex do Brasil, distribuidora do título, os preços sugeridos do game com o controle especial são de R$ 750 para o Xbox 360 e o PlayStation 3 e de R$ 650 para o PlayStation 2. A empresa não importará a versão de Wii.

“Live and Direct from the Honky Tonk of Electro, comes three shit-faced extra terrestrials known amongst the elite simply as Donny, Preston and Holly. The trio formed Hyper Crush, a Doo-Hop, Electro, Death-Core super group, destined to be acclaimed in epic proportions.”

Hyper Crush began with Donnie and Preston. Originally, the name of the band was the Bel-Airs, but the name changed along with their style. They sought a female vocalist to go along with Donnie, and their long-time friend Holly took the job.

Their song, “Keep Up,” has been described as “a dance floor banger, sure to make you dance so fast you can barely see your sneakers.” They have a Clinton Sparks mixtape out and there is a Benny Benassi remix of the hit song “Sex & Drugs”. To top it all of they have an upcoming full length album in 2010.

The possibilities are virtually endless with what you can mix in DJ Hero, however only a limited amount of songs can be mixed, that is… Until some genius plays the game for two hours before realizing ‘Hey, you know what? ‘Marco Benassi, más conocido como Benny Benassi, nació en Milán el 13 de julio de 1967. La música de este DJ italiano podría decirse que es una mezcla de euro house y electroclash.

Benassi actualmente reside en la ciudad de Reggio Emilia, que está localizada a 100 km al sur de Milán. Normalmente Benny trabaja con su primo, Alle Benassi. Los primos producen canciones bajo el nombre Benassi Bros. desde la década de 1980. Los Benassi Bros.iniciaron su carrera en su pueblo natal y luego se trasladaron al estudio de producción de Larry Pignagnoli llamado Off Limits. LosBenassi Bros. tuvieron la oportunidad de colaborar con artistas tales como Whigfield, J.K. y Ally & Jo, en el susodicho estudio.

En el 2001 Benassi produjo la canción “I Feel so Fine” bajo el seudónimo KMC e incluyó a la vocalista Daniela Galli (Dhany). Gracias a dicho sencillo, Benassi llegó a los primeros puestos en las listas de música mundiales. Después de este éxito los Benassi Bros. comenzaron a trabajar en su próximo proyecto: Benny Benassi presents The Biz. Dicho proyecto produjo una mezcla de varios géneros electrónicos incluyendo electro, techno y house. El primer sencillo que se lanzó bajo este nombre fue “Satisfaction” (sencillo que se añadió al álbum de Benassi titulado Hypnotica), él cual fue un éxito mundial durante el 2003 y parte del 2004. Las canciones producidas por Benassi han sido muy populares en el Reino Unido y se han escuchado en muchas discotecas de todo el mundo. Benassi también hace remixes de las canciones de otros artistas contemporáneos tales como DJ Tomcraft, Fischerspooner, Sonique y hasta Outkast.

Recientemente Benassi creó una discográfica llamada Pump-kin Music con la meta de conseguir nuevos productores que no aún no estén contratados por otras discográficas. Benassi espera poder darle fama a DJs y productores que aún no la tengan.

En Diciembre de 2005 la cadena de comida rápida estadounidense, Wendy’s inició una campaña publicitaria que hace uso de la canción “Satisfaction“.

R: A este paso, vamos a tener que crear una sección sólo para hablar de videojuegos, porque cuando no nos flipamos con la versión The Beatles de RockBand… lo hacemos con el próximo Singstar Miliki. Y ya tenemos aquí el siguiente paso: DJ Hero. Su nombre es bastante elocuente y seguro que va levantar titulares del tipo “De los creadores de Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero 2, Guitar Hero 3, Guitar Hero 4 y Guitar Hero 5 llega una revolución de tan variado concepto: DJ Hero!“. El concepto es simple pero, bueno, al Papa lo que es del Papa: no se le había ocurrido a nadie todavía. Un plato fake total como “mando” a la hora de mezclar todo un conjunto de canciones preseleccionadas. Podría sonar a mash-up… pero no. Se ve que las canciones finales tiran más al concepto de “bootleg” de toda la vida (con lo que hubiera molado hacer de Girl Talk… ¡puta locura!). Eso sí: la selección de artistas remezclados es la caña. Que hay ganas de jugarlo y 2. Que van a pagar royalties a Beastie Boys como para ponerles casas en Malibú a todas sus amantes. La lista de mixers, por su parte, también es de órdago: DJ Shadow, DJ Jazzy Jeff, J. Period, DJ Grandmaster Flash, Cut Chemist… Nada, que ahora que por fin he admitido que lo de la batería no es lo mío, tendré que probar con los scratchs. Eso, y esperar que alguien lance de una vez mi ansiado Folk Hero. Que ya tardan.
