Here’s the other article of interest, details on how the previous Ninja Turtle movies were a success and why THIS movie can be an even GREATER success: Ninja Turtles: Secret of the Movie

Sample:

What made the turtles a success in the past?

Ninja Turtles were a huge hit with children in the late 1980’s. The concept of a “ninja” was very exciting and still relatively new to American culture. Ninja Turtles had everything a child would want to see all wrapped up into one show, ninjas, mutants, pizza, skate boards, and funny jokes. In contrast, shows like GI-JOE were more true to life. The superhero genre had not yet taken off in the way it has over the last decade as a result, the audience was not as spoiled by special effects and big budget productions as they are today.

In 1990 the first live action movie was made for the relatively small price of 13.5 million and grossed a little over 200 million worldwide. It was the first successful live action movie that began as an animated series. People were excited to see their Saturday morning heroes come to life on the big screen. However, as Ninja Turtles grew more popular, more hands went in the decision making pot. Passion and creativity were slowly replaced by a committee of businessmen. It was unfortunate that the next three films did not find the same success as their predecessor.

Our challenge is to bring back the fire and excitement that people had for the first live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

All for now guys, stay tuned for the next updates =D.

Dear Diary, I didn’t want to crawl out of bed this morning. Oh hell, mornings have been gettin

Dear Diary,

I didn’t want to crawl out of bed this morning. Oh hell, mornings have been getting harder and harder to do. I miss the early days of Zoloft, when mornings are a breeze and all I need to do is open my eyes and spring out from under the blankets, hit the shower and get myself out of the house in ten minutes, all bright and chirpy and ready to face the day. I got dad to bring me to Gloucester camp in the end, and I prayed hard that Captain Priscilla wouldn’t be on my case for not being present at camp yesterday.

She doesn't look this bad yet.

Captain Priscilla is in the office way early today, Chee Chuan whispered to me as I gestured towards the open door leading to her private sanctum. The happy part about coming to Gloucester camp today? Joseph is out sick for today, which means that whatever drama with him would be put on hold until the next week. Benson went all “I have a bad dream recently, I have a feeling that Joseph and you would be causing trouble at the December birthday cohesion on Monday!”. On one hand, it is extremely weird to have the straight (and somewhat homophobic) Benson tell me that he dreams about me, of all people. On the other, it’s also strangely psychic, how does he see right thru me and read that evil plan of mine right from my head? I’m plotting something to knock Joseph right out of the park.

Captain Priscilla looks terrible and tired and is probably in a crabby mood today after taking two days off for the flu and all. She gave Jia Yi and me the evil eye from the second floor corridor (where our office is) for some reason while all of us were walking during the morning mass run (most of the guys elect to walk all the time, and both of us are feeling lazy today, hence the decision to walk). Maybe it’s because we’re both in the same style of FBT shorts. If she thinks that we’re dating each other again, that would be the scariest thing ever. I mean, can you imagine the two of us being able to stand the other as his boyfriend after a year of all that shit I give him (and sometimes, vice versa)? We’d probably have murdered each other by the third month!

Drama erupts by mid morning. Ok, erupt might not have been the best word. Simmer would have been a better adjective, considering that no tempers flared. But whatever it is, drama definitely occurred. It’s sort of scary how every day brings something that is soap opera worthy. Mom called me to try to persuade me to go talk to Captain Priscilla and beg her to allow me to go for the family trip to Kuala Lumpur at the end of the month. I wasn’t too keen on going anyway, and I was planning on going wild when they are away; having Captain Priscilla force me to stay in Singapore and do internal duties at the office until the end of November is a convenient excuse that happened to crop up and which I can use. Plus that there is no way on earth I am going to go crawling and kowtowing to that bitch for something I don’t really want anyway.

I wish I never got out of bed today.

Mom then called Captain Priscilla directly. God knows how she got hold of her number and what they had talked about. I thought mom is sort of kidding when she said that she would call and ask for my leave, I thought she didn’t have the number and would never do that anyway. I only found out later when Captain Priscilla called me into her office and I wondered what the hell was going on. Captain Priscilla suddenly became a lot nicer; maybe it’s because mom called, maybe it’s because she finally told her how stressed out I am from work and how I am slipping up and relapsing, I don’t know. Whatever it is, the punishment for being an internal duty clerk still stands, but Captain Priscilla suddenly grew this super soft spot for me for the rest of the day. I am hoping that it will last, that it is not a case of hormones.

I am feeling dreadfully confused and messed up on the inside today. Ran off to Samuel’s office, tried to find a place to hide my aching head. It’s tiring living in a world where the Big Bads suddenly turn good, where you don’t know who you are supposed to hate and who to trust.

Former Pro Bowl running back and former Kansas City Chiefs player, Larry Johnson signed today with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Johnson was waived by the Chiefs last week and was suspended for his comments about his head coach Todd Haley via Twitter, signed with the top team in the AFC North. LJ will most likely be an insurance policy as Cedric Benson came out of Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers with a hip injury.

I’ll be the first to say I told ya so, but I for one seen this move coming before the injury to the Bengals feature back. Look, Benson has had a great season, but the Bengals have been using Benson without any type of back up player to shoulder a little bit of the load. LJ is another big back that can handle a boat load of carries if need be, and especially if Benson is not 100%, LJ can fill in for a week.

LJ has not been a productive back in the last few years at Kansas City, after two 1700 yard seasons, however with the change of scenery, and back on a contender, watch out for a revived season for LJ. The Bengals will get the most out of LJ for the remainder of the 2009-2010 season, and LJ may even learn a thing or two about Twitter from Ocho Cinco.

Great pick up, and yes, yes I did call this one.

File this one under not fair: Larry Johnson, who was canned by the Chiefs last week after a few years’ worth of incidents that concluded with some coach-ripping and homophobia, has reportedly caught on with the Bengals. Yes, the AFC North leading Bengals. Last year signing with Cincinnati would’ve been sweet justice; this year it’s a the exact opposite.

Cincinnati is known for giving players second-chances — Cedric Benson, for one, was banished from Chicago after three disappointing seasons and a couple of arrests last summer, only to catch on with the Bengals and emerge as one of the NFL’s top running backs. With Benson’s status up in the air after suffering a hip injury Sunday, Johnson was brought in to add some insurance to the team’s backfield.

I think second chances are great, but Johnson is actually well past that point. L.J. was fortunate to get a shot in the first place when he was arrested for waving a gun at his girlfriend prior to his rookie season in 2003, then was given a second life in the NFL after shoving another woman to the floor in an argument in 2005. He was arrested twice in 2008 — once for pushing a woman into a wall at a nightclub in February and another time for spitting his drink in a woman’s face in October. That leaves him on about his sixth chance, so why bother?

Assuming Benson is good to go (he says he should be ready to play this weekend), there really isn’t too much damage L.J. can do in Cincinnati. Still, it’s a shame to see him catch on with a playoff team, let alone any team in the NFL.

Dear Diary, Things very nearly went wrong in the evening. I was fucking starving, all ready to chow

Dear Diary,

Things very nearly went wrong in the evening. I was fucking starving, all ready to chow down things in sight. I thought the Oreos I had with Jia Yi earlier would guilt me and fill me up enough to keep me humming thru the evening while I’m stuck in the office with Benson, Chee Chuan, Moorthy and Captain Priscilla. Turns out to not be the case, as I caved in to temptation and went to get a cup of tea with sugar and creamer. Which is something Ryan never does, he has only skim milk and calorie free sweeteners in coffee or tea.

Stumbling block.

I wanted to head home and binge, after Captain Priscilla finally finished with her work and left the office and allowed me to leave Gloucester camp. I’m so fucking hungry, tired and angry that my plan to go to the gym is derailed. The perfectionist in me says that I will never have enough time to complete my workout, that I will just fail at my working out and stay as a fat ass.

It’s by sheer force of will that I got myself to Vivocity, hauled my ass up to the gym. It was a miserable and tough workout, but I’m grateful to the Powers That Be for allowing me to find that inner strength from within to pull thru and just do the damned thing, get it done and over with. I know what would happen if I went home without hitting the gym beforehand to work the day’s worries off. I would have just ripped straight into food and have the entire night and maybe even the next day descend into oblivion.

I don't want garlic bread!

Home was the next challenge. Mom got it into her head to prepare an entire dinner for me, with even the starches; she made garlic whole meal bread to go with my baked cod and vegetables. I know that I should be touched by the effort that she is putting in and all of that, but tonight, Ryan is very tired while the eating disorder has the stronger hold of the mind. And I don’t want to eat the bread, even if it is whole meal and has whole grains or whatever. I just want to stick with the safety of the protein and vegetables.

I had one slice of the damned bread to appease mom, and told myself firmly that I am allowed no other food items once dinner is over. I don’t know how I managed to do it other than by sheer force of will. Seriously. Put myself in front of the computer, told myself that I am not allowed to move until I have finished doing the writing for today, then went straight to bed right after that. Not that the last part is very hard to do, because I’m so worn out by today that going to bed is the best thing ever.

Waking up a few hours, feeling that chill in my bones that only starvation can bring on, it’s a twisted sense of safety and accomplishment. I feel that I have definitely burnt more calories than what I had consumed, and that satisfied the raging demons within me.

Ryan

Wow, we will get to the Colts game in a little bit, but believe it or not there were other games this week. Believe me, the Pats-Colts classic will be covered in depth, but how about a swing around the league. One brief aside before we move on, I was 7-0 on my picks this week for the weekend. Props to me.

Denver suddenly sucks. Yeah, I know it is kind of surprising, but they have effectively given up that cushion in the AFC West and with a key game coming up against the Chargers, they cannot be feeling good. The losers of three straight now face a total free fall if Chris Simms cannot lead the Broncos over the Chargers.

Tampa Bay, St. Louis, and Oakland all almost won this week, which is miraculous in itself. Unfortunately, all lost and restored order to the universe. For a while it was looking like all might win, in which case the gambling world would implode.

Atlanta and Dallas both flopped on the road. Green Bay is at least talented even though their offensive line is one of the worst i have seen out of a decent team, but Carolina is not on par with Atlanta. The Falcons may as well have just given the game. No plays in the clutch on either side of the ball, and no consistency. I am still high on Atlanta’s hopes, but that is a game they have to win.

Cincinnati is not the finesse team everyone pegged them for. Even after losing Cedric Benson to injury, they grinded out a win, and as usual in a game with such closely matched teams, special teams was the difference. I could not be much more impressed with Cincinnati. My only question about Pittsburgh is their play-calling. Big Ben threw the ball 40 times on 46 dropbacks while Rashard Mendenhall got 13 carries. What are they doing? You need to run the ball! Here is a stat for you: The Colts, who trailed for most of the game and were forced to throw, ran the ball as many times (18) as Pittsburgh did in a close game. Come on Steelers, get back to your roots at least a little bit. Maybe Big Ben would not get treated like a tackling dummy if you had a running game.

To my estimation there were not any other really big games this weekend unless you really want to talk Saints-Rams, and I know you don’t. You know what that means: Pats-Colts Time!

Patriots 34, Colts 35

How does a Colts fan put this game into words? Ecstatic relief? Euphoric escape? Christmas come early? I don’t know how I can put it into words, but I came away from this game with a few things. First, the Colts did not deserve to win. Given that Marlin Jackson, Kelvin Hayden and Bob Sanders are all out, and that the Colts started two rookies against Tom Brady, the Colts secondary played ok, but they got torched in a way I have not seen in a long time. The Colts

MVP, MVP, MVP, MVP and many more

generally do not give up yardage or points through the air, but Tom Brady had them on the ground. The second thing I learned is that Peyton Manning is the NFL MVP. Yeah I know it seems a little early to make that proclamation, but he might be the clutchest man on the planet. You know the Dos Equis commercials with the “Most Interesting Man in the World”? Well they should feature Peyton Manning as the guy because he lives vicariously through himself and can speak French in Russian all while crushing the entire New England area’s souls. You cannot say enough about him. He will retire as the greatest quarterback of all time, bar none. Keep in mind I am a Colts, fan but I think none of this hyperbole is undeserved. Wow.

Ok, let’s talk about Belichick’s call on 4th and 2. I supported this call initially for a couple of reasons. Peyton Manning just had the ball a few moments ago and drove the Colts down the field with such remarkable ease it was scary. He was in a groove, and whether he had to drive 30 yards ot 70 yards he was not going to lose. He was in that Jordan Zone where it does not matter what you do, he is going to punish you. The only way to avoid it is to not give the ball back. The Patriots have a great record of 4th down conversions under Belichick and the Colts had been giving up lots of short passes. You have a big guy in Moss, a waterbug in Welker, the clutchest member of the Patriots in Kevin Faulk (you heard me) and Tom Brady throwing the ball. The Colts secondary is depleted and every Colts fan was scared witless when we saw Brady getting waved back on to the field. Granted it was risky, but isn’t that worth the risk. In Scenario A,

Hood-ini can't escape this one

you give Peyton Manning the football in a two minute drill and in Scenario B, you take a chance where success means game over and failure means only 30 yards for Manning. Maybe I am elevating Manning too much, but if you give the ball to Manning anywhere within reason in the fourth quarter, you had better be ready for the consequences. With the way Manning was moving the ball, 70 would have been well within reason. I would not have complained if they had punted but I had absolutely no problem with the call.

What a great sports weekend. On Saturday, we witnessed Brandon Jennings drop 55 and on Sunday, we witnessed one of the better regular season games of recent memory. College Basketball got under way this weekend, NCAA football kept marching toward the BCS and a few teams took another step toward the World Cup. Great weekend for sports considering it is November and not October. Just awesome, can’t wait to do it again next week.

In between is a tough place to be. There are many people in the world who find themselves in this place. They are not done with the current stage of life they are in but their age does not reflect this. Many systems are built around how old a person is and not based on how developed they are. As a result people are sometimes expected to be at a certain place based on their age. A middle schooler should be able to read a college graduate should have a career. These are expectations which are based on an ideal. But life is unfortunately not ideal. Some people take longer to mature than others for any number of factors. A person who grew up with poor early role models end up behind their age by what may not be a fault of their own. They instead have been punished and neglected because societal structures don’t match their reality. This article in the Richmond Times Dispatch tells the story of one foster child, Lyndsey Benson, who has faught hard to overcome the adversity in her life and prove wrong what parents and others told her she couldn’t do. She is speaking out hoping as she says that “someone willl come across my story and feel some kind of hope.” This is the power a story can have, to bring hope and create understanding and awareness that there are many children who age out of foster care but still are not connected to a family in a deep and meaningful way that transcends one season of life that can help them continue to grow

Freeman fared a little better than Trent Dilfer did in the same digs

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers came into today’s game with Green Bay 0-7 and decided to bust out their peach throwbacks — the same uniforms they wore in a historically brutal era that included the NFL’s only winless season. It must’ve had some sort of reverse effect though — they rode an impressive performance from rookie quarterback Josh Freeman and made a fourth quarter run to come out with a 38-28 win.

Freeman, grabbed 17th overall out of Kansas State in this year’s draft, threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns in his first career start, including a seven-yarder on fourth & 4 with just under five minutes to give Tampa Bay the lead. Tanard Jackson put it to bed with an interception return on Green Bay’s ensuing drive — the third pick of the day thrown by Aaron Rodgers.

Elsewhere around the league, the Bengals officially established themselves as legit (well, I’m believing it now, at least) with a nice 17-7 home win over the Ravens. Cincinnati made another big defensive stand and Cedric Benson continued his resurgence, rushing for 117 yards and a touchdown. Not sure what this was all about, but Mr. Ochocinco busted out some dolla bills for good measure.

Other scores from Sunday: Atlanta 31, Washington 17; Arizona 41, Chicago 21; Indianapolis 20, Houston 17; Jacksonville 24, Kansas City 21; New England 27, Miami 17; New Orleans 30, Carolina 20; Seattle 32, Detroit 20; San Diego 21, NY Giants 20; Tennessee 34, San Francisco 27.

At press time, Philly holds a 13-10 lead over the Cowboys in the third quarter of the Sunday nighter. Also, stay tuned for the crown jewel of the week tomorrow night — Kyle Orton and the Broncos are home to face the Steelers, and you can bet I’m going with the neck beard.

On the 5th November 1605 Guy Fawkes was caught in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament with several dozen barrels of gunpowder. Guy Fawkes was subsequently tried as a traitor with his co-conspirators for plotting against the government. Fawkes was sentenced to death and the form of the execution was one of the most… horrendous ever practiced (hung, drawn and quartered) which reflected the serious nature of the crime of treason.
In England the 5th of November is still commemorated each year with fireworks and bonfires culminating with the burning of effigies of Guy Fawkes and recitations of the famous rhyme:
Remember remember the fifth of November
Gunpowder, treason and plot.
I see no reason why gunpowder, treason
Should ever be forgot…

If you have no idea what I’m talking about, read the previous 3 posts. I haven’t the time to explain. Kudos to Nick Riportella for kick-starting this idea that brings back memories of “We Didn’t Start the Fire”. I have had an evening that lends itself nicely to releasing an assortment of random ideas. I hope you enjoy this as much as I do.

The Everything Song

This is a song for all the random things
Faulty fake IDs that land you in jail
This is the anthem for all the starving children
Buy this CD and add some salt and pepper

I’m not calling for a youth movement
But more reruns of Home Improvement
Tim Taylor was truly the man of the hour
To see a dishwasher and say, “More power!”

Calling all formerly famous sitcom actors
David Schwimmer, Jason Alexander
Dave Coulier, never afraid of a Full House of danger
And that guy who played Balki on Perfect Strangers

Wash the bedsheets and tear open the curtains
Let the sunshine of the moonlight wash over your bald spot
Comb over the strands of piano wire, make music to my ears
You’ll be lost in the ballroom, that’s for certain

I’m not saying we should all get along, good grief
I’m with the old lady asking, “Where’s the beef?”
Until Ronald McDonald put a hit out on her
She was turning the fast-food world upside-down

Calling the used-to-be-somebody corporate spokespeople
Pillsbury Doughboy’s half-baked, Joe Camel’s been deserted
The Gerber Baby is already out of diapers
And the Maytag Man has hung himself out to dry

The terrible twos have come calling
And they want their tantrums back
Let’s make it to three before midnight
And the scene fades now to black

Rosemary, Ted, Louis: all terrible names for pets
Skippy, Howie, Benson: as good as it can get
We specialize in tragic comedy, laugh until you cry
Giggles run down your face without you knowing why

Calling again for the unwashed masses
I think I’ll start looking in France
Greasy old men in horn-rim glasses
Who truly believe they can dance

Where, oh where, can we find Dave Coulier now?

I make no apologies. This is what it is. Maybe it’ll be the surprise smash-hit of the summer.

That just says it all. 37 carries. 189 yards. 1 TD

No Chicago Bears fan needs to be reminded of the debacle that the Cincinnati Bengals handed them last Sunday, but I will. Can I just say for the record that I did suggest in my last Bears post that they needed to 1) GET the run game going and 2) pressure Carson Palmer. Both did not happen….AT ALL.

The result. Well a 10 to 45 slaughtering at the hands of the Bengals. Forte crawled for a measly 24 yards on 6 carries. While Carson Palmer dropped 5 TD bombs for 233 yards in 20 completions out of 24. I said that fans don’t need to worry, but forget that…now the Bears fans can start panicking about their offensive line. IT JUST PLAIN SUCKS. Bottom line, no one can argue that fact especially if you have seen all 6 Bears games thus far. Do not justify it, accept it. Yes Chris Williams is new at right tackle, but for the rest of the line there is no excuse that a Chicago Bears team can not run. This O-line is mistake-prone for being a fairly veteran line. Frank Omiyale got owned for a second week in a row. It is just embarrassing play.

This just can not be a regular sight for a "franchise QB"

The worst part of it all? Pass protection has been compromised now too. Cutler has been pressured all season – and the stats are there to show for it – but Cutler has made enough plays to bail them out. Well the Bengals showed that if you put the Bears in a deep hole, Cutler can not do it all to bring the team back. The Chargers said it a few years ago when Cutler was with Denver – if you fluster Cutler he will kill you with mistakes. Cinny forced Cutler’s gunslinger mentality and the result was another 3 interceptions to the season. I don’t want to label Cutler “a more accurate and mobile Rex Grossman,” especially with the way the O-line has been playing, but Cutler botched two snaps and threw INTs that were very reminiscent of Rex. Bottom line, if the Bears want to see Cutler flourish management needs to reevaluate the offensive line. We need to protect our future investment.

Chad 8-5. A True Entertainer. A True Sportsman. Consoling an injured Alex Brown.

The defense? What can I say? There are no words for their epic collapse. FOX ran a stat that said the Bears haven’t been rung up on this badly since nearly 10 years ago. Couldn’t stop the run. Couldn’t stop the pass. As the first half wore on I started to LOVE Chad Ochocinco even more. If you watch him and his actions (not just this game), Ochocinco is a true professional when need be. He the talked the talk before the game, but was all business on the field. To back it up…that’s freakin’ awesome. Chad 8-5 just makes the NFL exciting.

IF there is any positive from this game it is that Devin Hester had 101 yards receiving – but he still fumbled on a pretty crucial drive. I was wrong about suggesting it might be a shootout. I was wrong that Benson would run only around 100 yards. I was wrong about the score and the outcome.

…and because the Bears blow I have officially jumped on the Vikings bandwagon. Yes, it was that bad yesterday. The reasons for why the Vikings? For one, I’ve been an Adrian Peterson fan since his Oklahoma days. I told my roommate that Peterson was a much better runner than Reggie Bush was when both were in college. No one believed me then. I was wrong on one part – Peterson is a much better player than Bush. Secondly, I respect the hell out of Brett Farve. Thirdly, I hate the Packers and would rather see the Vikings take the division any day. And lastly, because the Vikings play the game the way the Bears are supposed to – great running game and hard hitting defense.

Because of that, here is a clip of A.P. going All-Day on Steelers’ William Gay (rhymed that, ha!):

Cutler and the Bears face Benson and the Bengals

Leading up to tomorrow’s game, the “noise” has become pretty loud. Since the beginning of the week Chad Ochocinco has been tweeting several Chicago Bears players. I, for one, personally think it’s funny and it seems that Chad is just having some good-natured fun with several Bears players. Here’s a couple of the tweets:

• To Jay Cutler: “After I embarrass the secondary, I want your jersey after the game.”

• To Jason McKie: “Dude, don’t bother getting dressed Sunday, okay!!!”

• To Alex Brown: “Go get your study film and watch me work on film, I’ll sign it for you after you watch it.”

• To Tommie Harris: “Tommie why are your [defensive backs] scared of me, it’s just a game.”

• To ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter: “I see you on TV, call the National Guard now Adam, please, Peanut Tillman is gonna need all the help he can get!!! Hurry.”

But the real talk leading up to the game is that between ex-Bear and current Bengal Cedric Benson and his former team. Earlier in the week Benson was pretty dismissive about any sort of revenge playing his former team, but as the week wore on Benson claimed that the Bears “blackballed” the former 1st round pick from Texas. As Bears fans know, Benson failed to produce on the field and was trouble off of it. That combination led to his release in 2008, and hardly anyone took a chance on him until finally Marvin Lewis did. From the beginning the Bears and Benson never saw eye to eye so it is no surprise that talk leading up to the game has revealed Benson’s true nature towards the Bears. But for a guy who was a “bust” in Chicago, Benson has been excellent for the Bengals where he is currently the 3rd leading rusher in the league.

For the Bears to beat the Bengals they need to reestablish their run game (see last post). The run will keep the Bengals defense honest and on their toes, and it will help the redzone woes of the Bears. It helps that the Bengals Antwan Odom – the NFL’s sack leader as of last weekend – is out for the season. Secondly, the Bears need to cause Carson Palmer and the Bengals offense to turn the ball over – or at least make it hell for Palmer. I am more worried about Palmer carving the secondary rather than Benson doing it on his feet. I haven’t really watched the Bengals much this year, but I think the Bears can handle the Bengals secondary. Who knows we may have a shootout!

I see the Bears winning this game on the road by at least a touchdown.

As we roll into the 1st preseason game I wanted to catch up on a few things. First, here’s a list of all the guys that have rolled through camp thus far:

Forwards

Sam Bloom

Jonathan Duchesneau

Kenton Dulle

Barret Ehgoetz

Kyle Hagel

Adam Krug

Bryan Leitch

Felix Petit

Matt Pierce

Scott Reynolds

Brett Robinson

Dustin Sproat

Mark Voakes

Travis Winter

Hans Benson

Mike McLean

Jimmy Kilpatrick

Defensemen

Michael Busto

Reid Cashman

Jamie Coghlan

Shawn Fensel

Jason Josza

Kirk Medernach

Brian O’Hanely

Brock Sheahan

Jason Woll

Dwayne Zinger

Doug Krantz

Kevin Roeder

Goalies

Robert Mayer

It appears that Milwaukee has finally gotten around to sending us Jeremy Smith, but nothing official from the team yet.

Secondly, if you’re planning on heading down to USBA for tonight’s preseason tilt against the Toledo Walleye, here are the guys you definitely won’t see in action: Jonathan Duchesneau, Kenton Dulle, Adam Krug, Kirk Medernach, and Shawn Fensel. Duchesneau, Dulle Krug and Medernach were released and Fensel was suspended.

I had a chance to check out the public training camp sessions and was impressed with the size and speed of the squad. Chuck has some tough decisions to make regarding who will stay and who will go; just about any of the guys who may not make the team can play at this level and are guys we would have welcomed with open arms last January.

I’ll be updating later with my impressions of tonight’s game later tonight.

For a really nice southwest vacation consider Cochise County in Arizona. The unique history, architecture, landscape and things to do will leave you with many memories.

The Hotel Gadsden in Douglas, Arizona is full of history. Some say that Pancho Villa even rode his horse up the stairs inside.

Lots to see in Tombstone, Arizona. The courthouse museum is one of my favorites and is filled with memorabilia and artifacts from Wyatt Earp’s days there as Marshall.

Bisbee, Arizona is a quaint little town that has shops, mine to visit and lots to see. It’s fun to walk around downtown. The Queen Mine tour is really something.

St David, Arizona has a monestary that is very peaceful to visit. Great for birding too.

Driving through Sierra Vista, Willcox, and Benson, Arizona the scenery changes each time. Higher in elevation, it is cooler in the summer. The Dragoon Mountains are also beautiful. Benson was on the historic Butterfield Overland Stage Route. Willcox is becoming famous for its wine vineyards. Sierra Vista is home to the Historic Fort Huachuca.

Now, understand, I mean no disrespect to George. He is my teacher, for one. For two, he’d kick my ass. Hahaha.

The article is a good one, and the advice is sound…it’s just that I think it’s very one-sided, and it kisses up to science, which is a very limited way of looking at life.

Anyway, the article says that science is finally proving that relaxation is good for you. They quote Herbert Benson, who actually proved that relaxation was good for you back in the 70’s. Read his book – The Relaxation Response.

Here’s my response to the article (not to George, per se):

Totally great. Glad that “science” finally approves of what people have known for 10,000 years. Integrating relaxation into your practice is a different matter…

I personally think that relaxation by itself (relaxation meditation, or relaxation massage) is only really good done very infrequently. Relaxation, like meditation, or like exercise, or life, should be an active process. Then you learn something about your state…you become a participant in the state of your body.

For people interested, look into a nice Autogenic Programming or Progressive Relaxation recordings, or Eckhart Tolle’s first book – The Power of Now. All of the exercises from Power of Now are in the “Practicing the Power of Now: Essential Teachings” book, if you’re short for time or want to just get right to it.

Alternately, you can just stop what you’re doing, breathe deeply, and try to feel your muscles, starting at your feet, and progressing up your body to the top of your head. Tell your muscles to relax as you go, and feel for “tight spots.” Once you’ve done that, start back at your feet, and try to feel your bones. Get them to relax too.

A bee-da bee-da bee-da…that’s all folks!
