Boss is putting in just the place it should be.,,The Executive Brand. We’ve noted the mentality of the go-getter, hustler, boss, don, etcetera. We’ve placed an emphasis on her attire and a small touch on his wear. Boss Black does both. Here in Germany we are able to catch a glimpse of an executive’s brand and staple ourselves as such. Ladies, what are you purchasing your Boss Man this holiday season. Place him in the brand that labels him best. Boss Black!

BOSS Black Fashion Show Berlin Fall/Winter 2009/2010

You may remember a rant we posted after lunch with the PR for one of Berlin’s bigger fashion exports. We were miffed that the city spent so much time and (borrowed) Euros on preaching ‘Poor but Sexy’ to the converted, instead of giving local fashion talent a lift across the border. Well num, num, num. That’s us chewing on our words (not to be confused with eating them). An upcoming symposium called ‘Too Fashionable for Fashion? – How Berlin can be transformed into a city of fashion’ at least recognises that Germany’s capital is not yet on the map.  Admitting you have a problem is the first step. Those who have cracked nether markets  – think the prodigious Leyla of Lala Berlin Lala Berlin’s Leyla and Michael Sontag – will throw their hats into the ring on October 19. Perhaps they’ll mention booking berths at Paris Fashion Week. Wolfgang Joop’s Wunderkind (pictured above) has just shown spring 10 in the City of Lights and while critics were scathing of kneeless compression stockings and other athletic nuances, stirred in with floaty prairie dresses and mushroom-like silhouettes, we’ve an inkling he did it on purpose. Le Berliners are tres strange, non? Oui, but they are German. Got them talking, didn’t it?

LaLa Berlin now makes a regular appearance on the catwalk at fashion week. Starting just from a knitted pair of wrist warmers at a flea market back in 2003, Leyla Piedayesh has brought the label a long way. All accessories were previously hand knitted by Leyla herself, but as the company has grown so much hardly anything is produced in Berlin now.

The label name “LaLa Berlin” is a spin off from the nickname “Lala” given to Leyla. She originally studied business administration, but after working on “Designerama”- a MTV fashion programme, she changed her pathway to design.

Since launching, LaLa Berlin has been nomination for the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2007 Karstadt New Generation Award. It has also got an array of celebrity fans including Claudia Schiffer, Mark Owen (take that), Franziska Knuppe, Anne Maria Muehe, Michi Beck (fantaschischen Vier), Barbara Schoeneberger, Inga Humpe, Yvonne Catterfield, Frauke Ludowig, Christiane Paul and Natalia Avelon.

Knitwear is a regular occurrence in her collections, although it is now not such a primary feature. You will probably recognise the loose knit jumpers as they are a key LaLa look. Each knitted piece is made from luxurious Cashmere, Silk and  soft Cottons, which is just as important to the design.

Über kurz oder lang werde ich Fan. Sara Nuru ist so süß und so sympathisch, dass man sie am liebsten die ganze Zeit nur umarmen möchte. Ja ich weiß – aus meinem Mund klingt das so unheimlich zynisch, aber leider ist es tatsächlich so. Gerade gefunden und es gibt wirklich nichts, worüber ich auch nur ansatzweise über sie lästern könnte… komisch Welt:

- “ich bin so aufgeregt”
- “ich bin voll fertig”
- “ich hab Angst, drückt mir die Daumen, ja?”
- “ich bin jetzt nicht die Ordentlichste”
- “Es ist so Modegesetz, dass man nicht zweimal dasselbe anzieht” Dabei zieht sie eine
Grimasse und macht sich über die Modewelt lustig. Recht hat sie!
- “das startet schon mal total gut, mit einem total müden Körper.” Och… komm in meine Arme.
- 15 cm Highheels – damit soll man über den Laufsteg schweben… naja, wenn man ständig auf die Nase fällt, schwebt man auch irgendwie
- “Wenn die Generalprobe scheiße ist, dann ist das wirkliche Laufen dann doch ganz gut.”
- “78/62/93 sind praktisch ideal” Das Kleid sieht super aus!
- “Ich möcht nix trinken” – “Wir landen” – “Oh”
- “Sie soll nicht wie ein Schluck Wasser aus der Kurve gucken.”
- “Lauftraining? Nee!”
- “Jetzt gucken alle mehr auf mich. Da lastet schon ein leichter Druck auf mir.”
- “Warum tust du dir das an? Tja… dann weiß ich warum?”
- “Es ist sehr wichtig, dass man gut gekleidet ist. Typgerecht und das man auf dem neuesten Stand ist.”
- “Sehr hübsche Frau und sie gehört jetzt zur Fashionwelt würd ich sagen.”
- Angeblich hat Julia Stegner selbst in NY von Sara gehört… schaut sie etwa doch heimlich GNTM?
- “Ich find das ist ein wunderschönes Mädchen.”
- “Saras Bescheidenheit bringt ihr viele Sympathiepunkte”
- “Ich fühl mich wie Diana Ross.”
- Sara soll angeblich Toni Garrn ein Dorn im Auge sein. Das denkt auch nur red
- “Sie ist bei Weitem die Beste.”
- “Sie hat die beste Chance eine superlange Karriere zu machen.”
- “Es kann so weitergehen, ja.”

Even the most important boutiques have something different, that goes beyond the look of the store itself: going around for the city, I’ve felt art, creativity, a city of young people that is growing every day.

Am letzten Tag der Fashion Week fand auf den Straßen von Berlin Mitte die Kollektionsinszenierung ‘Instrumental’ von Esther Perbandt für Sommer 2010 in Form einer ‘Big-Band Performance’ statt. Bei den heißen Temperaturen freuten sich die Gäste zusätzlich über den Eiswagen mit ‘Eis for free’ vor Esther Perbandts Shop. Wir probierten uns gleich durch die Kollektion und haben gleich ein Lieblingsteil auserkoren.

Silk, chiffon, sneakers, bold colours, none-colours, gold and jeans – Live without care. At a single blow – everything fits cogent together.

By a fluke I get to know Yves who made a film job at Berlin Fashion Week but still had some time to make significant photos at Anja Gockel’s ss 2010 show. He provided me the photos for my personal pleasure. I’m thankful to have a reason now for saying some words about the BFW!
First, some gossip: Yes, the models above are all former attendees of Germany’s Next Topmodel. I’ve never watched the show, so that’s all what I can say at this point.
Instead let’s focus the real star of the BFW: Berlin.
Berlin arrived it’s marker from an uncharted fashion territory to an established fashion metropolis. It’s mostly because of Suzy Menkes’ “very nice”, the energy of new young design talents like Mongrels in Common, Lala Berlin or Bernadett Penkov and the sensational optimistic spirit without any talks about the crisis. The show must go on!

Unser Favorit der Schauen am Bebelplatz war Starstyling, da sie wie immer mit den ausgefallensten Ideen glänzten. Im nächsten Sommer könnt Ihr Euch auf  glänzende wattierte Hose, tolle Shirts und wilden Strick freuen, den wir natürlich dann im Laden führen. Besonders lustig war unser Sitzplatz in der Frontrow neben Peaches. Wir hatten Spaß mit unseren Goodie-Bags, in denen kleine Büchlein, Stift und eine futuristische japanische Sonnenkappe steckte, die auch die Models unter anderem auf dem Kopf trugen. Eines der Models, der blonde Herr auf den Bildern, ist Kelly Osbourne’s Freund. Außerdem trafen wir den Berliner Stylist Sebastiano, der dem Anlass entsprechende in Starstyling gekleidet war. Nach den letzten Tagen in High Heels, entschied ich mich heute für die Birkenstock-Variante.

Not only that I had an amazing time doing this,

afterwards they also decided to provide me with clothes!
So a few days later I went to the store, which is just lovely
and I was allowed to choose everything I want in this paradise of silk and lace!

Oh how I loved it!!

Nachdem wir am Abend zuvor im San Nicci lecker essen waren, sahen wir uns die Custo Barcelona Show an: Eiscremefarben, bunte Mustermixe und viel Glanz! Wir ließen den Abend auf der Levi’s Party ausklingen. Am nächsten Morgen ging es zur Penkov Show, bei der wir uns in die Kupferketten und -elemente und die sichtbaren Schulterpolster an den Kleidern verliebten. Nach dem Messebesuch auf der Premium, machten wir uns schick für die Michalsky Show im Friedrichstadtpalast und die darauf folgende Aftershow-Party mit DJ Hell. Michalsky zeigte eine Kollektion, die der ‘Krise’ trotzt, präsentiert auf einer pompöse Bühne. Gekommen ist, wer Rang und Namen hat: Christiane Arp von der Vogue, die Ochsenknechts, Wolfgang Joop und wir mittendrin. Müde ließen wir uns abends ins Bettchen fallen, um am nächsten Morgen gleich wieder fit für den letzten Tag auf der Fashion Week zu sein.

It is always difficult to figure out the exact ergonomics of a living space, first on the paper with the architect project, then when you do some little changes as work unfolds. Again when you have to furnish the place and imagine how you will move around in the house.

This week A flat in Berlin underwent its user friendliness test. Even more demanding: a”friend friendliness” test!

Friends flocking to the city for the Bread and Butter fashion week stayed at our flat. Rome’s monsoon season was responsible for their adventurous arrival in Berlin at 2am at Schönefeld, but eventually the ladies were able to take a well-deserved night’s sleep in quiet Schöneberg, before tackling their busy schedule of meetings at the fair the next day.

Apparently the user friendliness test was passed with flying colors! They found the right things in the right drawers, they liked the big window and the solutions we adopted. Nutella and Wasa in the pantry were a welcome comfort food after their long hours in the aircraft stuck on the tarmac waiting for takeoff…    I know the feeling!!!

Nach dem wir uns zum Frühstück mit Martin von Acne trafen und gemütlich im Oliv Kaffee schlürften, machten wir uns auf zur Lala Show. Dort staunten wir mit Jessie und Julia von Les Mads über glanzvolle Seidenkleider und Strick. Auf der Show entdeckten wir Heike Makatsch, Jana Pallaske, die Chefredakteurin der Cosmopolitan, Michi Beck und Eva Padberg.

…und gerade auf dem Weg zur BREAD & BUTTER. Heute morgen war ich kurz beim  Mercedes-Benz Zelt am Alex – leider zu spät für Marcel Ostertag. Um 18:00 Uhr geht es zu Patrick Mohr, Bilder folgen!

…und fahre nach Berlin, besser gesagt zur Berlin Fashion Week 2009 : ) Die Vorfreude ist jetzt schon riesengroß – und wie beim Koffer packen vor dem Urlaub reize ich diese Vorfreude mit einem kleinen Lageplan vollends aus.
