After reading many reviews it was very clear that E72 will definitely come with Geo Tagging feature but, I was really amazed when I actually explored the device and found nothing related to geo tagging. Good thing is Nokia 5800 also came without this tagging feature but later on with firmware upgrade this missing feature was incorporated. I am expecting same case with E72 also.
Mean while there are few software which can geo tag your photos in E72 and guess what! its a product of nokia beta labs. The software I am referring here is Location Tagger. I installed this software and I am able to click photos with location embedded.
Another software I found is locr, its a photo sharing website with geotagging software for symbian and window mobile devices.
Now I am desperately waiting for a firmware update to include all those features which this device deserves.

Nokia has just updated today “Here and Now” in their beta lab. Problem is they did not make it available for 5th edition, touch screen phones.
This one I tend to see it as a huge misunderstanding, giving the huge traction they almost created with N97 and the fact that all the lab contains merely 4 or 5 fifth edition compatible apps.

It really looks touch screens and Symbian 9.4 got them by surprise and they forgot to adjust their product development critical paths…

Palvelu pohjautuu siihen että kännykkä tekee ns. kolmiomittausta kolmeen tai useampaan wlan tukiasemaan ja signaalin voimasta voi sitten laskea kännykän etäisyyden tukiasemasta ja kun tukiasemien paikka tiedetään voidaan kännykkä paikantaa tarkasti.

Palvelu vaikuttaa hienolta. Täältä vähän lisää infoa. Melkein tekisi mieli ajella Stadiin pelkästään kokeilemaan tuota mutta jos nyt kuitenkin malttaisi mielensä

Nokian toukokuun alussa avautuva Ovi Store on houkutellut jo nyt tuhansia sisällöntuottajia. USA, UK, Intia ja Kiina ovat aktiivisimmat maat sisällön tuotannossa.  Eiköhän palvelu nouse hyvinkin nopeasti kattamaan yli kymmenen tuhatta applikaatiota ja lisäksi palveluun tulee videoklippejä, elokuvia jne. Ja tänään Nokia tiedotti että tuolla aletaan myymään videoklippejä jotka on varta vasten suunniteltu tähän palveluun. Noiden videoiden taustalla on Heroes-sarjan voimahahmo Tim Kring.

Nokian Ovi Store Palvelua voivat käyttää alkuvaiheessa kymmenet miljoonat S40 ja S60 käyttäjät.

Ne avevamo parlato qui. Ora questa applicazione, che rende il vostro dispositivo mobile uno strumento più utile di una lente d’ingrandimento  sfruttando la fotocamera e scaturita dalla collaborazione fra i team di Nokia Labs e Nokia Accessibility, si aggiorna alla versione 0.9.1. Fondamentamelmente migliorata la stabilità e soprattutto aggiunto il supporto per ulteriori dispositivi: N96, N95, N95 8GB, N82, N73, E90, E71, E66. Purtroppo non ancora funziona invece su: N85, N78, E65, 6220.

Istruzioni:

1. Posiziona il telefono davanti al testo da ingrandire
2. Premi Ok (tasto centrale del pad) per mettere a fuoco
3. Se la messa a fuoco non è ottimale, sposta di poco il dispositivo da e verso il testo e premi di nuovo ok
4. Usa il tasto cancelletto [#] per attivare, disattivare lo stabilizzatore (antitremolio)
5. usa il tasto 0 per attivare, disattivare, la modalità contrasto
6. Usa il tasto asterisco [*] per attivare disattivare il filtro negativo
7. Tasti SU e GIU’ per intervenire sullo zoom
8. Ci sono le opzioni di menù per queste caratteristiche.

Il McGyver del 2009 risolverebbe le situazioni più incresciose con un Symbian S60 (non a caso questa app piace a Glass)!! Dunque nuova applicazione dal team di Beta Labs, scaturita dalla collaborazione con Nokia Accessibility, si tratta di Nokia Magnifier, che sfruttando la funzione fotocamera, trasforma un dispositivo S60 in una lente d’ingrandimento.

Praticamente tutto ciò che viene puntato dalla fotocamera viene ingrandito sullo schermo, basta premere il tasto centrale per iniziare la messa a fuoco. Si può intervenire sullo zoom, il software è anche dotato di uno stabilizzatore per ridurre gli effetti di una mano tremolante, è possibile attivare il filtro negativo per rendere lo sfondo da chiaro a scuro ed incrementare la leggibilità del testo, è possibile intervenire sul contrasto, è possibile  fare uno screen shot e dunque immortalare il testo o campo ingrandito.

L’applicazione dovrebbe essere compatibile con tutti i Symbian S60 3rd edition con fotocamera dotata di autofocus, è stata testata con successo su Nokia N95, E90, N82, le utenze riportano che non funziona su E71, N85, N96. Per il download vi rimando alla pagina dedicata di Nokia beta labs.

Special Note: “Not enough memory to start the application” when attempting to open Maps 3.0 on your device – We have noticed that in some cases, Maps Updater does not fully delete the old map data on the memory card. In order to resolve this, go to your memory card (e.g. via File Manager) and delete the “Cities” folder and “qf” file. After that, restart Maps 3.0.

Så er der kommet endnu en lækkerheds app fra Nokia Beta Labs. Denne lille geniale app bærer navnet Image Exchange, og er som jeg vist allerede har nævnt et par gange genial i alt sin enkelthed.

Når programmet er downloadet så uploader den automatisk alle dine billeder til en server og opretter dig som bruger automatisk. Efter et par minutter får du så en SMS med login og password og så kan du så logge ind og se alle dine billeder. Og hvis du ændrer eller sletter et billede på serveren  så synkroniserer den automatisk med telefonen og omvendt.

Selve brugerinterfacet på telefon delen af programmet er super fedt. Det reagerer lynhurtigt og er rigtig flot. Og i indstillingerne kan man selvfølgelig vælge kun at bruge wlan så man ikke brænder hele sit julebudget af på telefonregningen

Efter min mening er dette et af de bedste billed programmer jeg har set i lang tid og så ABSOLUT et must have.

Jeg faldt over et lille pudsigt gratis program fra Nokia Beta Labs idag. Programmet hedder Friend View og er en slags social networking program. Programmet viser på et kort, hvor dine venner er, og man kan aftale mødesteder, skrive hvad man laver lige nu osv.

Det er ikke et særlig nyttigt program, men det er meget sjovt. Desværre kræver det jo bare at ens venner også har programmet installeret. Du kan se mere om programmet i filmer herunder:

Nokia Email application and service available since August finally has been updated, after first stage of public usage and testing. New version offers using up to 6 e-mail accounts, supports new languages, deleting messages on server side directly from your phone. Application can be installed now on N96 and N78 devices as well.

Of course I will start testing it and I intend to share my comments and impressions with you, but I encourage you to do the same as well, especially if you are E71 user.

[Update]: Here are my first impressions about new Nokia Email version. Installation process was smooth. I have added two e-mail accounts and it feature seems to be bugged:

• I have defined two different signatures for those two accounts, but when I start creating a new message it uses only one of them and switching between accounts doesn’t change the signature.
• I have defined “From” fields, so the person receiving a mail from me could see for example “Dexter”. Unfortunately application sends just e-mail address in this field. I have checked it on my account web page and so far I haven’t found any solution.

As good beta user I have already posted those bugs to Nokia Email feedback. If you have found anything else please do the same and share it in here as well.

Today Nokia Beta Labs announced that a new version of Nokia Communication Center, marked as 2.0 is available for public beta tests. This piece of software was previously integrated into current version of Nokia PC Suite. The new version contains many bug fixes and suggested features added, for example: calendar editor, contact group support, contact thumbnail view and performance improvements.

New NCC is of course compatible with Nokia E71, but you need to have installed on your computer Nokia PC Suite 7.0.8 or higher. Remember that Nokia Beta Labs team always welcomes all users bug reports or suggestions! Check the application description and download it from here.

Nokia Beta Labs presented today a new Java-based enhanced calculator application for Nokia S60 devices. The application can be known to S40-based devices’ users and now is available for S60 as well. It offers simple arithmetic calculator, plus scientific and loan features.

As Nokia states this is still a beta version so it is…
“not fully tested, but should work on all Nokia S60 based devices with QVGA display: E50, E51, E61, E61i, E62, E65, E66, E71, N71, N73, N75, N76, N77, N78, N81, N81 8GB, N82, N92, N93, N93i, N95, N95 8GB, N96, 5320 XpressMusic, 5700 XpressMusic, 6110 Navigator, 6120 classic, 6121 classic, 6124 classic, 6210 Navigator, 6220 classic, 6290, 6650”.

Unfortunately in comparison to cCalc Pro which uses full E71’ QWERTY keyboard Nokia’ application seems to be poor.
