Hace unos días la Revista NME publicó las que para la elección de sus redactores son las 100 mejores canciones de la decada… hay de todo y aunque se incluyen cosas super comerciales como Rihanna o Beyoncé, está también lo mejor de cada casa… Interpol, Kings of Leon, Oasis, Radiohead, Arcade Fire… vamos, realmente casi todo lo mejor de la decada (aunque es obvio que se dejan cosas por ahí y que sobran otras claramente).

Así que como ahora tengo bastante tiempo libre pues me he dedicado a recopilarlas todas (o casi, porque algunas no están, concretamente 11) en Spotify… una ardua labor solo encomendada para el Mr. Lobo.

VIDÉO. La diva rock a brandi une banderole contre l’homophobie au cours d’un concert à Milan. Le public, composé de nombreux gays et lesbiennes, a adoré! Regardez la performance.

En tournée européenne, les Gossip et leur mythique chanteuse Beth Ditto étaient en concert lundi, au Palasharp de Milan. Ils ont électrisé leurs fans italiens, complètement sous le charme de la diva rock. Et plus encore quand celle-ci s’est parée de la banderole «Stop homophobia» de la Journée mondiale contre l’homophobie et la transphobie ( Idaho) pendant qu’elle interprétait la chanson Yr Mangled Heart (à écouter plus bas).

Le message a bien sûr fait un tabac auprès du public, largement composé de gays et de lesbiennes, alors que l’Italie, et surtout Rome, ont été le théâtre de plusieurs agressions homophobes ces dernières semaines. Et les homos italiens ne croulent pas sous les soutiens: la classe politique est frileuse pour s’engager franchement contre les discriminations (voir l’article sur la loi anti-homophobie retoquée au Parlement) Et surtout, comme le signale Gay.it qui rapporte cette nouvelle, aucun artiste «ne s’était exprimé d’une manière aussi forte et claire contre l’homophobie» devant un public italien. Alors, pour cet appui inhabituel et sans réserve, le site lance un cordial: «Grazie Beth!»

Trionfo tutto italiano ieri sera per i Gossip, attesi al Palasharp di Milano da un pubblico numerosissimo, elettrizzato e pronto a far festa con la band più hot d’America.

Le aspettative non vengono disilluse: il concerto è pure fuoco, sin dalle prime note. Uno dopo l’altro scorrono, in un crescendo di ritmi coinvolgenti, i brani dell’ultimo album Music For Men (ve ne avevo parlato QUI): da Dimestore Diamond, che apre lo show, passando per 8th Wonder,  Love Long Distance, Pop Goes the World e l’acclamatissima Heavy Cross, che scatena il delirio.

Le ultime hits vengono alternate con qualche brano più vecchio, come l’intensa Coal to Diamonds e Listen Up, vero e proprio primo sucesso mainstream della band, così come trovano spazio citazioni pop e cover del calibro di Lady Marmalade, Like a Prayer, What’s Love Got To Do With It e We Are The Champions.

E’ sesso, sudore, rock ‘n roll. E questo…è il concerto migliore del 2009.

So here are some fat positive things that I class as my favourites.

The name Queen really fits this lady.  She’s so regal, so elegant, yet so real and down to earth.  Not only can she sing, act, dance, carry comedy and looks fantastic in anything, she’s also an awesome role model for young women.

Fat women as they are, natural, beautiful and with dignity.  And yes, the photographs are taken by Leonard “Mr Spock” Nimoy!

We Love Colors

An online shop that REALLY does cater to the plus sized market.  Their tights are well made, fit well and go to a very large size.  And the colours… oh the colours!

The Corrinna Chapman books by Kerry Greenwood

Corinna Chapman is a fat woman.  She’s also sexy, successful, loved by friends and her gorgeous, gorgeous boyfriend, funny, smart, talented and kind.  The first book, Earthly Delights opened up a whole new world of fiction for me, fiction where fat women aren’t the lazy, loser friends of the heroines.

The Fat Nutritionist

This lady is AWESOME.  Not only is she a fabulous fat activist, but she’s also changing attitudes within her profession on nutrition and diet, as well as exercise.  Plus she’s a very lovely person too.

Beth Ditto

I am a latecomer to the love of La Ditto.  At first I didn’t really dig her, I just thought she was someone that fatties glommed onto simply because she was “not thin”.  But then I saw this interview with her, and my opinion of her radically changed.  I’ve since got into her music with The Gossip, and I get her so much more.  Cool lady.

Not only do they cater to the plus sized market at a reasonable price, AND ship internationally, but they get some very cool ladies on board to promote, design and model their clothing.  Beth Ditto has a range.  Crystal Renn is a regular model.  Chaka Khan is the face (and bodacious bod) of their latest line.  These are clothes I like to see and want to wear.

So the blog has been down again for the last few days because I’ve been in London again, but anyway I’m back but here’s what I got up to.

So first day I arrived we went to the UCAS fair, and I got to chat to people from the London College of Fashion and Central St.Martins and I have decided I definitely want to go to one of those Unis!

Then it was back to the Generator Hostel in Russel Square, which wasn’t as bad as I thought it was, The drinks were cheap there so I was up late getting drunk!

Anyway Next day (Slightly hungover) we went to see the Pop Art Exhbit in the Tate. Photography was banned otherwise I would have some awesome pictures to show you. But anyone who can should check out Pop Life at the Tate Modern if they get the chance.

Then on the tube to Old Street to see a Banksy and do some shopping!

So we found this Banksy piece on the wall, and I had a picture with it. I had to fight with that bloody bush though, who the fuck puts a bush in front of a Banksy!? And I know I look a mess, It was windy and I was soo tired!

Anyway there are some good vintage shops around the area so we went to check them out, the first we came accross and probably my fave was Paper Dress.

It was cute inside, it was like I was in the 1950’s even the lady behind the counter was dressed like she was from the 50’s and the best part was most definitely the Vintage cash register!

After theere we headed up to find Beyond Retro. Apparently its where the likes of Kate Moss, Beth Ditto and Noel Fielding like to shop. I remain un-impressed, there was a few nice things in there but everything smelt of old people, it just wasn’t for me, but if you are into second hand shopping it is definitely one of the best places to visit.

Then it was off to Oxford street and probably my favorite shop ever…Digitaria!

The other side of the window display is currently by Gemma Slack but the photos didn’t take properly. I went in again but had no money to buy anything I just love to look at the clothes in there, and oggle at the Katie Eary shoes I craaavvee!! Unfortunatly there is no Gallery downstairs at the moment.

Anyways further Down oxford street I finally got to check out the Jimmy Choo for H&M, I only Had time to look at the menswear though because I was the only one in the group interested in seeing it. But here’s some blurry pics I managed to snap including a picture of the boots I almost bought but they didn’t have them in my size

After that it was back to the Generator and another slightly drunk night, which is why there are no pictures from yesterday, because I was dying and ate dodgy Thai food. FYI if you’re ever around Tottenham Court Road and you see a place called Joi Buffet, DO NOT go inside, it tastes like vomit!

Como ya hace mucho que no la menciono, estoy seguro que todos ustedes se han preguntado últimamente ¿qué fue de Beth Ditto?, ¿será que está preparándose para estelarizar la película biográfica de Keiko? ¿Le seguirá haciendo la vida imposible a La Sirenita?. Es por eso que me sentí obligado a hacer este post en el que se puede ver a Beth mostrando su esbelta figura en Francia. Ella fue invitada a un evento organizado por un hotel en el que, como pueden ver, se mantuvo con su estilo tan extravagante y llegó vestida de pared. Aunque por su tamaño, más que pared parece el muro de Berlín. Y como bonus, aquí les dejo otra foto de Beth mostrando uno de sus bocadillos habituales:

The Gossip front-woman already looked fierce, but now even more. It’s firestarter-Ditto now! She coloured her hair flamboyant red. She illuminated Parisian departmentstore BHV for the inauguration of their Christmas window displays on tuesday.

And could someone have told us that his son looks damn cute???!! Seen on the arm of Dita von Teese (hope they’re not dating..), who was also one of the ‘invitees’.

I know, I know, I know. Every fat woman in the world loves Beth Ditto. But my love for her is still quite new, so I’m still very much in the honeymoon stage. Therefore, she gets a mention on my very exclusive, very prestigious, Women I Love section.

What I love more than anything – more than her brilliant songs with The Gossip, more than the line she did with Evans – is that she’s a chameleon.

This one didn’t really grab me at first. I’m not particularly fussed about Beth Ditto, who adds her distinctive but rather samey vocals to this mid-paced electro number. It’s got a certain charm though, that works its way through on multiple listens. Background music-y, but not in a bad way? Really.

De primeira eu n gostei, achei estranho, mas depois que vi alguns looks eu me apaixonei.

Comprei uma cinza opaca, achei estranha no pé mas depois me acostumei.

Mas uma das cores que eu estava mesmo querendo eram: azul cobalto e amarelo, a azul eu ainda n vi no site nem ja Jelly aqui de Goiania, mas a amarela chegou no site, mas qndo eu vi já n tinha mais a minha numeração.

Aqui alguns looks legais com a melissa 3S. O primeiro eu acho tao lindo, preciso de uma calça assim. Nos outros três tem a Beth vocalista do The Gossip que é viciada em melissa, e quem gosta de melissa sabe disso, achei ela com a linda 3S no pé. Eu querooooo!

Essa é uma melissa que chama bastante atençao, pelo menos foi o que eu percebi qndo usei pela primeira vez p/ ir no xopin, várias pessoas paravam e comentavam algo sobre ela. Inclusive uma vendedora da Jelly, ela gostou da cor, falou que ainda n tinha visto a 3S no cinza.

A semana está indo muito bem pro mundo da música. Teve clipe novo da Lady Gaga e shows do Cranberries confirmados. Agora chegou a vez do The Gossip.

Sim, a banda fará show no Brasil no começo de 2010, provavelmente março. Diz que uma marca brasileira ligada à moda fechou 5 shows do grupo americano para a América do Sul. Dois ou três devem ocorrer em São Paulo e Rio de Janeiro.

The attention around Simian Mobile Disco’s latest single seem – for the most part – to be focussed around the Maurice Fulton mix, which is supported by  the majority of jocks and blogs!

However – it’s worth mentioning the Edward Scissorhands of Disco – Greg Wilson – equally has had his razor sharp fingers in the pie, and  glued together this enormous re-edit of “Cruel Intentions” featuring Gossip’s majestic Beth Ditto.

Needless to say – Greg Wilson shows his true powers in the art of editing by taking all the best parts, upping the tempo, adding some flying, glimmering synth parts with older Electro percussion before lacing the punch with Beth Ditto coming in half way through to great effect over his bongo driven groove.

It’s of course completely irresistible and shines like a giant mirrorball!

Smell the Greg Wilson flowers, and have an impromptu morning boogie along with your cuppa!

The Gossip’s lead singer, lesbian Beth Ditto, told for a magazine how in her teenager years she had a relationship with a boy just for fear of not being “discovered” that she’s different and have to suffer from this.

The singer claims that she was aware she’s a lesbian since the age of 15 years and did everything she could to keep up appearances, so she hooked up with a boy she knew of being a homosexual.

“I started to hate the friends of my girl friends and was really jealous. I realised that I don’t fancy men.”

“I went out with a boy for three years when I was at school but I was actually just dating him because I thought he was gay.”
